October Open Quest Log
🧙 WHO: Drake Mallard/Darkwing Duck and whoever!
⚔️️ WHAT: Taking on a number of this month's quests
đź•’ WHEN: Throughout the first half of the month
🗺️ WHERE: Various places
⚠️ WARNINGS: Headless Horseman in Prompt B
A. Smashing Pumpkins [Pumpkin Mayhem - Drake/Darkwing]
[At first, Drake Mallard loved the idea of decorating some pumpkins! Nice way to get into the Halloween spirit. So one can join the civilian duck as he paints and/or carves some pumpkins. Of course, most of the designs he uses are based on Darkwing Duck and some of his villains! Join him during the calm before the storm and help him with decorating pumpkins... or when they start to come alive and take the off-duty hero by surprise!
Or later on, after he's made a costume change, Darkwing Duck will do some more patrols of the area and see if anyone else is having any trouble with rogue pumpkins...]
B. Heading Places [Don't Lost Your Head - Darkwing]
[When he hears rumors about the headless horseman, it sounds like a job for Darkwing Duck! ...A particularly scary job, but a job nonetheless!
And so, he ends up showing up to protect some volunteers who are cleaning up bodies in Celliwig. He keeps some distance from the volunteers and watches from the shadows because of his aesthetic. Perhaps someone is staking this out with him, or is one of the volunteers that this duck is trying to protect.
Or skip ahead to when the Headless Horseman makes his entrance, and Darkwing springs into action... starting with his catchphrase, of course!]
I am the terror that flaps in the night!
I am the dental floss that has been dropped into your candy bag!
I am... Darkwing Duck!
C. Beddy or Not [Bunker Down - Drake]
[So what happened at the end of last month sure was depressing! He felt some relief in being able to do his part to help save people from Lestari, but especially as a hero, he feels the punch from all of those that weren't saved elsewhere. So he throws himself into some relief work so that he can do something to help the survivors!
And so Drake can be seen at the woodworking sight, where he tries to help out with constructing some bunk beds. One can catch him in one of several scenarios. Tired out from all of his work, he could end up taking one of the unfinished beds for a trial run by passing out on it. Or he could be seen doing some strange work for one bed, like making the carving of a duck head coming from the foot of a bed, and also several imperfectly-shaped wheels off on the side... is he trying to make a Darkwing Duck racecar bed...?]
D. Wildcard
[Feel free to come up with an alternate prompt or hit me up for plotting!]

B!
Well, well, fancy meetin’ you here. You on the lookout for these headless horsemen, too?
[ He can only assume that’s the reason for the superhero getup. ]
no subject
Well well! If it isn't my old partner in crime. ...Crime fighting, that is.
[He nods firmly to confirm Juzo's guess.]
I certainly didn't come here to sight-see! There's a crownless cad out there, and I intend to catch him! [He smiles as he looks up towards his gun-faced friend.] Do I smell a new team-up in the works?
no subject
Could be. You’re here, I’m here. Might as well put our heads together, right?
[ It will be interesting to see how they manage in the real world, but that video game wasn’t terribly different from reality. Right? ]
no subject
He responds with a grin.]
Exactly! After all, two heads are better than none!
[Darkwing looks prouder than he's ever been, as if he's waited all day for the perfect chance to make that joke, which Juzo has just delivered to him. Man he's missed him!]
I haven't seen any sign of him yet. Have you!

Yeah yeah, pot, kettle, black, she knows, shut up.
So when he begins to stir, she gets up and ruffles his head feathers. ]
Hey, Seeping Beauty. Up and at 'em, I ain't kissing you awake.
no subject
As he stirs and slowly regains consciousness, he groans and blindly swats a hand at the air.]
Ugh... One more minute, Mom...!

The headless horseman had shown up looking all spooky and threatening, and Kratos was already drawing his sword and starting to approach it when he suddenly hears Darkwing going off. Kratos just stops in his tracks, sword half drawn. He sighs when he realizes that the horseman is completely distracted by Darkwing, and is not at all surprised when it turns suddenly to go find and murder the source of that duckvoice.]
...This is fine, I guess.
[Good luck, Darkwing. Kratos will catch up when he feels like it.]
no subject
Come on over here, you crownless cretin! [He pauses a moment as it sinks in, and he starts to feel a bit of fear.] Oh he, he really is coming over here!
[Darkwing leaps to the side, narrowly missing a swing from his sword - and keeping himself from being trampled by the horse. Darkwing glances back towards him and realizes that he doesn't really have a game plan for taking down this headless horseman. Instead, he'll focus on evading and not dying for the moment!]
no subject
[Kratos doesn't typically lose his temper like that, but Darkwing has a death wish and this is all so goddamn stupid. At lease the daring duck of dipshittery seems to be doing a good job of evading the horrible hooves of the headless horseman's steed, that will probably give Kratos enough time to catch up. Just keep dodging DW, you got this!]

D - Housemate shenanigans!
Of course not everything is perfect. And maybe some of his mother's standards and expectations had rubbed off on him a bit, because he found himself making sure that the house was clean and everything was stocked quite often. Not to say that Della and Drake didn't help out, for which he was grateful...maybe he's just thinking a bit too much about.
He considers that as he pushes the front door open, somehow working the handle as his arms are laden with groceries. Atom bounds in after him, making a beeline for his dog bed as Fenton uses his foot to ease the door closed behind him. ]
Helloooooo? Anyone home?
no subject
So as they come in, Drake's right there on the couch, half-asleep with a pile of snacks.]
Huh? What time is it...? [He yawns as he drifts awake.]

Oi you fucker stay still!
[ Because right now he's sitting on top of a cage made of Light magic and a particularly large pumpkin - carved into a golem - is trying to smash against it. ]
no subject
Having some trouble there, young man...? [He'll just joke a little, his hands on his sides in a superhero-y pose, as he approaches.]
no subject
It's you. Mind your own business.

There... Just a few finishing touches, I think...!
[He smiles triumphantly! And then looks at the other workers and blinks widely at the one that the duck man might be making.]
What are you carving in yours? If you don't mind me asking?
[They look villainous! Which is also cool.]
no subject
He's noticed the young human boy at work too and has been quite jealous of how easily he's been able to do his work. Once he asks his question, Drake answers with a smile.]
I don't mind at all! I've just been carving images of a great hero and some of his enemies. [He shifts over the Megavolt pumpkin to give the boy a better look.] This is going to be one bad customer named Megavolt. One of the most persistent foes of the one and only Darkwing Duck. His electric powers can really be shocking!
no subject
Darkwing Duck? A hero in your world? Megavolt looks like a dangerous villain...!
[He sits back down, placing his work down on the table.]
I've been working on carving a hero from my world as well. This is... All Might! The greatest hero in our age.

Mmh...how am I going to work in sensei's hair? Maybe split the stem? No, that won't work...
no subject
In any case, he's taken a break from his own pumpkin-work once he notices Ochako nearby and steps up to take a look at her work. The casually-dressed duck looks down at the finished one with an impressed nod.]
Ooh nice, you're doing good here! [He glances towards her and her current dilemma, with a little smile.] Hair really is tricky when it comes to pumpkins, huh? What kind of hair is this person supposed to have?
[He heard the word 'sensei'. A hero teacher...?]
no subject
And other Heroes? Well, the novelty kind of rubs off after you work with them for so long. They just become another face in the agency after a while.]
Oh! Hello, ah--...Darkwing? [Who else could it be, really?] Ehehe, it's nice to see you again!! I don't think I've seen you out of costume. Are you doing well? Hee, thank you...I'm trying to make one of one of my teachers, All Might. He, um...he sort of has these two, eeh...I don't know how to explain it...
[She holds her palms up by her head and wiggles them.] Ahoge--eh, you probably don't know that, um. ...Antennae? But his hair.

Her eyes widen as he appears, presumably on a tree-branch or some other suitably dramatic platform, completely bewildered. She remembered Drake from the other month, but she thought he'd been joking...]
...Holy shit, there really is a duck superhero.
[What the hell!
Totally ignoring the stupid headless guy for now to stare.]
no subject
He will take all the attention he can get! Darkwing takes in the human woman's comment with a smirk as he looks towards her.]
Of course! Every species has its champions. Who better to defeat for ducks than Darkwing?
[There isn't much time for pleasantries, however, as the headless horseman doesn't seem much for conversation. It races forward, ready to lop the tree branch right off, forcing Darkwing to spring for the ground.] Whoa!
no subject
[Seriously, Darkwing, be careful! Claire's gun is already up and tracking the monstrous horseman, but she doesn't shoot yet. It's too close to Darkwing, and she's not going to risk hitting an ally.]
...Guess we need to corral this guy and stop him from charging us. He's going to be a problem if he gets in and attacks the volunteers.
