April Catch-All [OPEN]
🧙 WHO: Tokoyami and YOU!
⚔️️ WHAT: New arrival for the month, getting settled, CameCon shenanigans
🕒 WHEN: All month
🗺️ WHERE: Various
⚠️ WARNINGS: N/A, will adjust as needed!
Soaking In Your Arrival
[Arriving in a splash of water wasn't the most shocking thing. Nor was being spoken to by the Lady of the Lake, or even being assisted to shore by strange-looking manatees. As a hero, one has to be prepared for all sorts of strange, unusual situations. No, the most shocking thing for Tokoyami came after he landed on shore, and wrung out his clothes of water.]
What a strange place... I suppose we will have to gather information, won't we Dark Shadow?
[Normally he would expect a witty reply, or a nod, or a "uh huh!", or something from his Quirk. But instead he's met with absolute silence.]
Dark Shadow..?
[Tokoyami looks around for his wayward shadow, but when he finds no trace of it? That's when the shock sets in. Why couldn't he feel his Quirk? Where was Dark Shadow?!]
[Meanwhile, further down the beach, some other newcomers might notice a dark cloak, most likely washed ashore ahead of its owner. The cloak belongs to Tokoyami, and peeking out from under it is a strange, shadowy creature who strangely enough looks close to tears.]
Fumikageeeee!! Where are yooou??
Caravans to Camelot
[Once Tokoyami finds his hero costume (and has a somewhat tearful reunion with Dark Shadow), he's ready to go to the city like everyone else. That involves a caravan ride, strangely enough, but so many strange things have already happened that Tokoyami isn't sure if he should question them or not. He's just going to go along for now and try to piece together this mystery.]
[At least, that's what he's trying to do. He's trying to look over his new smartphone and gather information that way, but his attention keeps being drawn to the two beings he is with. One is Dark Shadow; a lot smaller than normal, and no longer connected to him, but still with him physically. The other is a strange, spectral raven that had found him not long after his arrival and kept following him. Apparently Dark Shadow didn't like this, and was scowling at the bird spirit. Said bird spirit cawed indignantly, which made Dark Shadow's "hackles" rise. The tension between the two was palpable, to say the least.]
[Tokoyami can only sigh, bringing a hand up to pinch the bridge of his "nose".]
Both of you, please don't get into a fight...
Around Camelot
[For the first few days, Tokoyami spends much of his time just trying to get used to this new city he's found himself in. Sometimes Dark Shadow accompanies him, and sometimes not; that in itself is a strange concept for him to accept. He can be found running all kinds of errands, exploring the city, or finding a quiet spot to practice his new magic, whether it be manipulating small shadows or trying to communicate with the local wildlife. It's not the same as having a Quirk, but at least he has something he can draw on for example.]
[However, it's also possible he might end up getting lost, the poor bird-headed boy looking quite confused at his unfamiliar surroundings. He knows he looks a little strange, so he will be as polite as possible as he approaches someone to ask for directions.]
Pardon me, but is it possible to ask for some assistance? I seem to have been turned around and I'm not sure which street I am on anymore.
CameCon
[A convention seems strange in a place full of magic like this, but it doesn't take long for Tokoyami to be intrigued by the spectacle of it all. He always did enjoy conventions, even back home, though here it looks like there is a lot more emphasis on fantasy and magic than the superhero-themed ones back home. Still, it draws Tokoyami's attention, and he could be found wandering around the convention halls.]
[It's possible to find him in one of the vendor halls doing a little shopping. With so many things on display, he can't help but eye all the wares available. He can be found lingering around the stalls that sell more gothic and macabre items, like swords and gemstone skulls. He will definitely linger by anything with a "dark" theme to it, studying the details with rapt attention.]
Such exquisite craftmanship... truly an excellent work of dark art..!
[Or, perhaps you spot him at the LARPing station. It's open to the public to try out, so why not have a little fun? Whether you're an ally or opponent in the ring, you might see Tokoyami dressed up in some shadowy-looking armour; the kind that makes him look like a Black Knight from an anime or something. He holds himself with the same amount of confidence as well, his cape billowing as he points a plastic sword forward.]
Do you think you have what it takes to combat a disciple of darkness? Then step forward and challenge me in my domain!
[Is he acting? Is he being serious? Who can say. But he is having fun.]
Wildcard
[Got an idea you'd like to try out? Feel free to make your own starter, or message me via PM or on plurk at
pocketnoivern to plan something out!]

TDM Continuation - Izuku
I... I don't know what's going on either. But...
[As he gently rubs his hand against Dark Shadow's crest, a frown forms on his face.]
Something doesn't feel quite right. Dark Shadow is here, but I... I can't feel him like I normally would.
[He looks up at Izuku.]
You said that all Quirks are gone in this place?
no subject
Y-yeah, none of us have our quirks here. Not Kacchan or Uraraka-san or me... But- there has to be a way to explain this...
[Izuku puts his hand on his chin as he ponders.]
If you can't feel him how you normally would I wonder if he... [No, is it possible?] Is he your familiar? Or something else...? Either way, I'm happy that he's still with you Tokoyami-kun! It must be a relief.

[He lays it on thick, letting out a frustrated-sounding growl. He uses his dark magic to make his sword glow with a shadowy light, making it look like a dark and sinister aura.]
W-What is this feeling?! No..! This power..!
[The crowd goes wild. Could it be, the power of friendship is... prevailing?!]
no subject
No matter what...e-even if you walk the path of darkness, you'll always be my friend. Please, let's stop fighting...and go back to how things were before.
[Ochako pulls away, but she still holds onto Tokoyami's hand with both of her own, smiling warmly at him. The crowd is cheering him on, screaming "YEAH, GO BACK TO HER, DUDE!!" and "NOTHING CAN BEAT FRIENDSHIP!!" aaannnd the offhand "Now KISS" thrown in that makes Ochako choke for a half second, before she has to steel herself again. Who invited that person?!!]

I mean... only one way to find out, right? Especially if he's that important to you.

[ As foreign as the concept of another being resisting within a person is to Bean, the fact that this bird person had something integral to his identity stripped from him is... Worrying, to say the least. What else might have been taken? From the bird boy, from Bean? The only notable difference Bean had that was anything like how Quirks were described is his generic alteration. But how will he know if that's gone? It's not so glaringly obvious a presence as a shadow being. It's just... the way his mind works.
Bean frowns. He can't tell whether he's thinking any differently than normal. Which really should be his answer in and of itself. If his brain was functioning the way it always had, he would know immediately that something was wrong. His intuition had never failed to warn him of danger before.
Feeling the beginnings of an existential crisis threatening to burst their way out of him, Bean shakes his head, baking his hands into fists. No, he thinks to himself. I refuse to let this setback stop me. ]
I think whoever or whatever brought us here, took something from me, too.
no subject
[So maybe this person doesn't have a Quirk of his own, but he lost something of his own as well. Was it just a facet of this world, perhaps? So many questions, not nearly enough answers.]
Hmm... if he have truly lost something upon arriving here, whether it be our Quirks or something else, then there must be a reason for it. I didn't think to ask when I spoke to the Lady in the Lake...
[Maybe someone else can answer their questions?]

[Dust turns to face the person addressing him, careful not to bump anyone else with the sword held reverse-grip at his side. A bird person is unusual, but after so much time around humans he's not really surprised by much any more. By the same token, Dust's own appearance must surely be nothing to someone from such a Quirky world.]
I'll do what I can. What are you looking for?
no subject
[Dust certainly looks strange, but people who change to have more animal-like features is fairly common in his world. He's just one example of that. So Dust's own appearance isn't too much of a shock to him.]
[He does eye that sword, though. It looks cool.]
I had heard there was a martial arts dojo here in the city, and I was looking for that. Unfortunately, I am still getting used to the layouts of the streets here...

However, he happens upon the same stall as Tokoyami, the gothic motif enticing the musician over. His face brightens up at all the different dark paraphernalia he can use to decorate his room or even add to his look. He notices the student admiring one piece in particular.]
Nice! If you were debating on getting it, then you should, before I sweep it up instead! It'll be apocalyptically perfect in my room!
no subject
You are also a fan of memorabilia of the dark arts?
[He sounds a little hesitant when he asks, but also hopeful; he usually hides this side of himself away out of shyness. It's not every day he comes across another fan of the gothic macabre. Same hat??]

Yes, that is a fridge. It's a machine to keep food cold. [He pauses.] If you are confused about anything here, just let me know, and I will do my best to explain.

[A costumed duck asks that as he leaps out from the closest alleyway, landing between the bird and the civilian he had actually asked the question to. The civilian seems to just assume that his masked mallard is the real target of the other bird's question, and/or feels that this is just too weird, and so they just quickly depart while Darkwing speaks to the teen.]
Then look no further! I am the terror that flaps in the night. I am the 'you are here' sign that villainy cannot properly place. I am Darkwing Duck!
[Clearly he wasn't just waiting for the first person asking for anything resembling help!]

Like a pet...?
[Continued from here]
no subject
[It's just weird considering Dark Shadow as a pet rather than a Quirk. Mostly because he's just so used to Dark Shadow being a part of himself and his Quirk that to consider him like a dog or bird feels a little... underwhelming, in a sense.]
It took some time to convince Dark Shadow that I wasn't replacing him with my familiar, and while he's come around to that, he is still a little sensitive about not being connected to me anymore.

"Though, I'm not too sure about this one myself. Sýnin doesn't like him, I can tell you that much."
Given the bird motif of just about everyone else in this carriage though, maybe it's Eivor who's the odd one out.
no subject
"I can see that. Dark Shadow is usually more behaved than this..."
Dark Shadow lets out a little indignant 'hmph!' before turning his back on both Tokoyami and the raven spirit, crossing his arms and looking downright unhappy. The raven doesn't really react other than to ruffle his feathers, sending up a small plume of spiritual energy from his feathers.
Tokoyami turns to study his strange caravan companion, looking over their own raven spirit.
"Is Sýnin your own... companion?" He's not sure who Sýnin is, but it's interesting that both of them have problems with their familiars.

[ Momo doesn't quite interpret Tokoyami's words in the right way, thinking he must mean that he has magic which is similar in some way to his quirk. It doesn't even occur to her that Dark Shadow might somehow exist outside of him as its own independent being, or that that being might be present with them in Avalon. ]
Mm, yes, it has been quite an adjustment for me, dealing with Elemental magic, which is quite unlike my Creation. Thankfully, I recently gained access to Alchemical magic as well, which is... similar, but still not quite as natural as my quirk would be.
no subject
[How curious. When he arrived, Tokoyami had both Dark and Animal magic at his disposal. Did Momo only have one to start with?]
I understand the feeling of having a new... ability under your control. [He only just manages to keep himself from calling it a Quirk.] My Dark magic is fortunately similar to my Quirk, but I still need practice using it. Plus, I had to convince Dark Shadow that I wasn't replacing him with my new magic.

But as he flies around, he catches sight of something.. a door! It looks like an exit, just with some debris stuck in front of it. This could definitely be used!]

[Give him some time to catch his breath. And it looks like Shinsou needs a bit of time to rest as well.]
Woo!
He retreats into himself, in an attempt to give Tokoyami more time to process his own feelings about the situation. He starts to wonder what that distance was, and how long he managed to float for before touching the water, so could he try a greater distance off the ground now... ]
