April Catch-All [OPEN]
🧙 WHO: Tokoyami and YOU!
⚔️️ WHAT: New arrival for the month, getting settled, CameCon shenanigans
🕒 WHEN: All month
🗺️ WHERE: Various
⚠️ WARNINGS: N/A, will adjust as needed!
Soaking In Your Arrival
[Arriving in a splash of water wasn't the most shocking thing. Nor was being spoken to by the Lady of the Lake, or even being assisted to shore by strange-looking manatees. As a hero, one has to be prepared for all sorts of strange, unusual situations. No, the most shocking thing for Tokoyami came after he landed on shore, and wrung out his clothes of water.]
What a strange place... I suppose we will have to gather information, won't we Dark Shadow?
[Normally he would expect a witty reply, or a nod, or a "uh huh!", or something from his Quirk. But instead he's met with absolute silence.]
Dark Shadow..?
[Tokoyami looks around for his wayward shadow, but when he finds no trace of it? That's when the shock sets in. Why couldn't he feel his Quirk? Where was Dark Shadow?!]
[Meanwhile, further down the beach, some other newcomers might notice a dark cloak, most likely washed ashore ahead of its owner. The cloak belongs to Tokoyami, and peeking out from under it is a strange, shadowy creature who strangely enough looks close to tears.]
Fumikageeeee!! Where are yooou??
Caravans to Camelot
[Once Tokoyami finds his hero costume (and has a somewhat tearful reunion with Dark Shadow), he's ready to go to the city like everyone else. That involves a caravan ride, strangely enough, but so many strange things have already happened that Tokoyami isn't sure if he should question them or not. He's just going to go along for now and try to piece together this mystery.]
[At least, that's what he's trying to do. He's trying to look over his new smartphone and gather information that way, but his attention keeps being drawn to the two beings he is with. One is Dark Shadow; a lot smaller than normal, and no longer connected to him, but still with him physically. The other is a strange, spectral raven that had found him not long after his arrival and kept following him. Apparently Dark Shadow didn't like this, and was scowling at the bird spirit. Said bird spirit cawed indignantly, which made Dark Shadow's "hackles" rise. The tension between the two was palpable, to say the least.]
[Tokoyami can only sigh, bringing a hand up to pinch the bridge of his "nose".]
Both of you, please don't get into a fight...
Around Camelot
[For the first few days, Tokoyami spends much of his time just trying to get used to this new city he's found himself in. Sometimes Dark Shadow accompanies him, and sometimes not; that in itself is a strange concept for him to accept. He can be found running all kinds of errands, exploring the city, or finding a quiet spot to practice his new magic, whether it be manipulating small shadows or trying to communicate with the local wildlife. It's not the same as having a Quirk, but at least he has something he can draw on for example.]
[However, it's also possible he might end up getting lost, the poor bird-headed boy looking quite confused at his unfamiliar surroundings. He knows he looks a little strange, so he will be as polite as possible as he approaches someone to ask for directions.]
Pardon me, but is it possible to ask for some assistance? I seem to have been turned around and I'm not sure which street I am on anymore.
CameCon
[A convention seems strange in a place full of magic like this, but it doesn't take long for Tokoyami to be intrigued by the spectacle of it all. He always did enjoy conventions, even back home, though here it looks like there is a lot more emphasis on fantasy and magic than the superhero-themed ones back home. Still, it draws Tokoyami's attention, and he could be found wandering around the convention halls.]
[It's possible to find him in one of the vendor halls doing a little shopping. With so many things on display, he can't help but eye all the wares available. He can be found lingering around the stalls that sell more gothic and macabre items, like swords and gemstone skulls. He will definitely linger by anything with a "dark" theme to it, studying the details with rapt attention.]
Such exquisite craftmanship... truly an excellent work of dark art..!
[Or, perhaps you spot him at the LARPing station. It's open to the public to try out, so why not have a little fun? Whether you're an ally or opponent in the ring, you might see Tokoyami dressed up in some shadowy-looking armour; the kind that makes him look like a Black Knight from an anime or something. He holds himself with the same amount of confidence as well, his cape billowing as he points a plastic sword forward.]
Do you think you have what it takes to combat a disciple of darkness? Then step forward and challenge me in my domain!
[Is he acting? Is he being serious? Who can say. But he is having fun.]
Wildcard
[Got an idea you'd like to try out? Feel free to make your own starter, or message me via PM or on plurk at
pocketnoivern to plan something out!]

[So no, he hasn't been here very long.]
I've been able to get some insight as to what is going on from Midoriya and others, but it's still... well, a little difficult to truly believe. Being in another world, without our Quirks... well, for the most part.
[Dark Shadow seems to be A Special Case.]
How long have you been here?
no subject
[It was pretty harrowing, when she realized she couldn't use her quirk, and no one else could, either. Ochako had the good fortune of being able to contact a few of the girls right away who seemed to have arrived several hours before she did - Momo and Tsuyu specifically - so she got some info, but...man. It's been a challenge not having her quirk, or the familiarity of what they're all used to. For Tokoyami, it must be so, so much harder...]
It's been about two months now, I think...or just about. I first arrived in February in this world, b-but the last thing I remember from back home it was still winter...just around the start of the new year. [She can't be very detailed about that, Ochako still doesn't know what point in time Tokoyami is from, either...]
no subject
[Being separated from one another, Dark Shadow's jealousy over his raven familiar... it's been A Time.]
The start of the new year? [Tokoyami thinks it over. He hums lowly.]
That is something that had already happened in my memory.
no subject
Wha--Dark Shadow is here?! How did....Tokoyami-kun, were you actually able to keep your quirk?!
[Howmst the fuck?! No one else that she's talked to - not a single person from back home - was able to keep their quirk. Sure, some of them got magic that was similar enough to it...Momo got Alchemy Magic, Bakugou recently got Elemental, and she now has Kinetic, but...it was never really the same. Just a good...replacement. There was that one time Izuku actually did...get to use her quirk once, b-back at the Silent Shore, but.
That was just a one-time thing, she's learned. It was a freak occurrence done by the power of some strong wishing magic. So...maybe that kind of thing is happening again? It'd be news to her, and not broadcast as a whole to the island community...]

[The way he says it makes it clear he's had to explain this a few times.]
Dark Shadow is here with me, but he isn't here as my Quirk. He's... separate from me. His own being, without any of his abilities that he had when he was connected to me. I can't even summon him, or feel his presence like I used to.
[Meaning, he's basically a shadowy, bird-like pet.]

So they treated him almost like he was his own entity...like a person. AH! N-Not that!! He wasn't befor--erm, isn't now, b-but--! [Ochako holds up her arms, waving them a little bit, before clearing her throat a bit. Whoops.] Y'know...um.
He's always been sort of like your other half, Tokoyami-kun, so...I guess they let you keep him in that way. I'm glad. [Like a companion. It's not the same, but at the very least Dark Shadow can continue to be there for her friend. They really were two peas in a pod.]
no subject
It is alright; I know what you mean. He is his own entity, but he was always a part of me. So having him be separated from me feels... strange. He cannot even adjust his shape like he could back home. I can only imagine how it feels for him, if I am feeling so conflicted by this.
[He was absolutely relieved when he found Dark Shadow on the shores of the lake when he arrived, and by Dark Shadow's tearful tackle and hug, his wayward shadow was happy to be with him as well. But it still felt strange.]
At least he's not trying to pick fights with my familiar anymore... I spent the first few days convincing him that I wasn't replacing him with her, but he is still a little sensitive about it.
no subject
I can't really say I totally understand, Tokoyami-kun, your quirk is way different than mine is, but...I think we're all sort of struggling to grip the loss of them, you know? But you can count on us still - you're our friend - and if Dark Shadow is here then...I'm sure you can still count on him, too. Try not to forget that, okay?
[Would be nice if she took her own advice sometimes, but...details.]
no subject
Thank you, Uraraka-san. I will do my best to not forget that. And you can rely upon me as well, where I can.
