(1)Trial and Icy Errors

[ Spotting the message from Merlin, Saber immediately sends a few more messages his way. Mostly along the lines of a demand for him to meet her and explain himself, or just for him to come down so she can give him a good smack (so basically a threat but whatever).

When she is inevitably not given an answer, she decides to take full advantage of this snow...

And then she gets beaned in the back of the head by a snowball, and suddenly "practice" becomes "a battle". ]

Who dares!?

[ Was it you who just beaned her with a snowball? Well then, expect her to immediately retaliate.

If you weren't someone who just instigated the King's competitive side, then you're probably a victim of it, as she's now running around with an all-too-competitive look on her face as she uses wind magic to send a volley of snowballs your way. ]

(2)Fogueria Quest (Combat Quest)

[ After much time, Saber's managed to locate where the Fogueria may be found. As a user of Elemental Magic, she's been told that she would be a good matchup against the fiery beast. While she's mostly practiced with wind, she may as well learn to use water now.

As she marches into the Land of Rot, however, she would definitely appreciate some help. While she may be the King of Knights, this land has most definitely robbed her of the vast majority of her abilities. She's unsure how powerful this beast is, so having anyone to help back her up in slaying this beast will be appreciated.

Perhaps she found you before marching in the direction of the Land of Rot, and you accepted? Either that or she saw you, knew you would be helpful, and dragged you along with her to fight a giant fire lion.

In any case, you are with Saber, and you're both in the territory of the Fogueria now. ]

(3)Foraged and Found (Closed to Rin)

[ Saber's main priority is obtaining knighthood. Even if she is not a King in this land, she is still a Knight... however right now, she is only claiming to be a Knight.

And that simply won't stand, will it?

However, even though this is the case, it seems she's been dragged along to something else entirely. ]

Rin... I understand that having a partner for a quest is certainly important... but surely there are others who could help you better than I?

[ Rin is technically no longer Saber's Master, but still she felt obligated to follow Rin. However, obligation isn't the reason Saber's here. Saber is here, standing in front of an enchanted sleigh, because Rin was oddly insistent about it and dragged Saber here before she could protest.

It hasn't crossed her mind once that this could be anything more than a Quest. Still, here she is, dressed for winter (and not in her armor), about to ride a Sleigh. ]

Trial and Icy Errors

Here Ken was, trying to figure out if throwing the snowball at her was a good idea or not. Based on her reaction, she was taking this much more seriously than she thought. Try as he might to hide in the trees, he knew it wouldn't last for long before he felt the barrage of snowballs coming his way.

Grabbing a snowball, he threw it before a small bear appeared before approaching her way! Was he going to regret this?

[excalibeam]

Eh!?

[ She didn't expect the bear to appear and quickly stopped her assault. The bear was a surprise, but... ]

Hah...!

[ She charged forward with a blast of wind and slams into the enchanted-snow-bear, the wind causing the snow bear to burst and dissipate into a squall. ]

[whatsamada]

[Looks like Ken might have made himself an enemy and he saw the the poor bear disappear in an instant.

Thinking quickly, he threw another snowball hoping that something would come up. However, just as he did so? There was a pig that appeared before her.]

Why does this keep happening? [He mumbled to himself. Should Saber hear him, he wasn't that far away from her]

[excalibeam]

A pig this time...?

[ Considerably less intimidating than a bear, so this time she doesn't immediately burst it into a snow squall.

She does hear him. Is he new here? It would make sense that his magic is new to him, then. Well... she may stay her competitive spirit this time. ]

You there. I take it you've only arrived just recently?

[whatsamada]

[Just before he could do anything else, that's when he's been spotted. For a moment, he was worried she might unleash a fury of snowballs at him but instead?]

Um...yes, I have. [A pause] Is it that obvious I'm new?

[Well, she certainly ought to have an idea of what Dust can do. And if she finds that helpful, he's not going to complain. Quite the contrary, having some direction and a creature to deal with has him in high spirits; it's the sort of thing he understands and expects.]

[The problem mostly comes from his accustomed travel method: a distance-destroying lope that really, uh, isn't too compatible with a girl Saber's size who only has her own legs and not mana reserves to add some oomph. So on occasion he forgets himself, and has to pause for her -- an embarrassing situation all around.]

How are you doing on other elements?

[excalibeam]

I should be able to use wind for my maneuverability. As for my other elements... I'm mostly proficient with wind, but I can make water form around my sword.

[ To show this, she holds up her sword, and water begins to swirl around the blade. ]

[Dust takes a little bit of pride in seeing that, because he taught her that idea, after all.]

I... Let's just say I had a chance to practice, so I think I can do some things with water too. Aside from just hitting the thing.

[excalibeam]

Indeed. Now then, where is this beast...

[ For a giant lion made of fire, it's oddly unnoticeable. ]

[These two met up along the way, in search of the same beast. Jack is a little skeptical of two people going up against something this big, magic or no magic.

So he's trying to think of ways around actually, you know, fighting it.]

You know, if this is a big cat, I might be able to talk to it.

[excalibeam]

[ The prospect hadn't exactly occurred to Saber. She is King Arthur, after all, and has fought beasts much more powerful than lions made of flame.

Mind you, she was much more powerful then, and this realm has severely weakened her abilities. Still, the fact remains that the King of Knights is fearless in this endeavor. ]

Hm... settling the matter peacefully would be ideal. [ Though she does wonder if simply relocating it would be fine when the quest requests that the beast be slain. ] How do you expect to communicate with it?

[theonlyrealthing]

[He "demonstrates" by letting his ears grow up into big, twitching rabbit ears, turning this way and that, listening for any sign of trouble.]

Animal magic. I can talk to animals, even some magic ones. I understand them, and they understand me.

I can do shapechanging, too.

[Obviously.]

[ Saber's eyes widen, clearly impressed. ]

Well, while the quest requests that the beast be slain, a peaceful resolution may be for the best. [ She nods. It is just a beast that strayed from it's habitat, and Saber is admittedly fond of lions in the first place. ] If you wish to attempt at communication, by all means.

[Hey, this might also help with Saber becoming a Knight here even if that isn't Rin's main reason for doing this. Speaking of Knights and Ladies and titles, Rin hasn't thought about them too much herself, not yet, she's loyal to one version of King Arthur and her Excalibur but that's obviously not the local one from this world. Then again, she could get one of those local titles to herself and see what happens after that...

She'll think about it later, she has much better things to think about right now! She smiles at Saber.]

Nope, no, this is something where no one else could help me at all.

[Besides no one's ever better than Saber, not in Rin's biased opinions. This is not just a quest as this is also a date and she'll tell that to the blond later. She wouldn't have to follow, of course, their familiar contract is --- well, maybe it still exists somewhere even when their own skills are null here, but Saber's free to do whatever she wants.

Rin's still really, really glad for any time, that she gets to spend with her, so she's in a very happy and cheerful mood. She's also dressed for winter and she's getting into that sleight first.]

Come on, it'll be fun. I promise.

[Sitting down and leaving space for Saber right next to her, while she keeps looking at her as much as she can.]

[excalibeam]

[ She raises an eyebrow at that, but she's already here, so there's no use saying anything about it. ]

Well, if you say so, Rin.

[ So, she climbs up and joins Rin at her side. ]

Hoh... so this is a sleigh...

[greedyvixen]

[Rin could have waited a little before getting in there but nope, too excited to go!]

I do. We can enjoy the ride and take our time with everything.

[That's not everything she wants to do but they'll have time to talk and relax and whatever else too.]

Is it your first time on one? Should have guessed, that even these can be enchanted here. Ready to go?

[Is she sitting comfortably? Does she need anything?]

Indeed, let's be off then.

[ She gives Rin a reassuring smile. She's comfortable and doesn't need anything at the moment. ]

[ The two met before marching into the Land of Rot. He was once the commander of the Holy Knights, and could not idly stand by while a beast could cause harm to the people. His posture remains stiff and formal; each step confident and assured.

He shakes his head in mild dismay over the situation they both find themselves in, and mutters: ]

Such troublesome business.

[ It seems like the peaceful atmosphere of the world is also plagued with its own monsters. At the very least, it is good that they are not real demons. ]

Do you have experience with fighting such creatures?

[excalibeam]

Indeed I do.

[ The King of Knights answers back, her expression cold. In her world, for the most part, the tales of Arthurian Legend have truth to them. In any case, a giant lion made of fire is impressive... but that means nothing to her. ]

And what about yourself? Do you have experience with monsters of this caliber?

[honorkept]

That is unfortunate.

[ The girl herself does not look that old yet has had to battle monstrosities. She carries herself well and has a seriousness to her that he accepts as one who has seen battle multiple times. Still, it does not make him any less sad to see it. ]

Yes. Demons are a constant burden in my world, despite the fact that the Hell Gate has been sealed for hundreds of years. But evil does have a way of finding its way through... even so, that means we must be even more steadfast in eliminating such tenacious adversaries.

[excalibeam]

Demons...?

[ Well, she already knows people here come from worlds different than her own. She decides not to question it further. ]

I do not consider it unfortunate. The way I am now is a result of my own choices.

[Magic isn't a strange concept to Soundwave, he's seen plenty of it over the years, but this is the first he has to use magic. And apparently practice.

Even though making snowball is a somewhat silly way to practice, he's taking the activity seriously, all the same. Concentrating, he's managed to get the snowball hovering above the ground. So far, everything goes well... Until it keeps going higher and higher and shoots upwards.

Oh... That was not what he meant to do. Alas, gravity does it works. The snowball goes downwards... and promptly splats on someone's head. And said someone looks...furious about it. Scrap. Soundwave raises his hands up.]

That was unintentional... I was practicing. [Hopefully that should probably ease the other up? Unless the 7' tall robot does that for her instead of the clearly robotic-like quality voice.]

[excalibeam]

[ A snowball is already flying at his head. Does it matter that her assailant is more on the mechanical side? Well, she definitely notices it, but the surprise only comes after the snowball is thrown. ]

Ah... it seems my opponent is rather... bizarre.

[peacewithouttyranny]

[Apparently not, as he raises his arm to shield his head from the incoming snowball. Though he lowers it when he heard what she said.]

Bizarre...? [That's rude, but] No, that aside, it was an accident. I didn't mean to throw the snowball.

Well he hadn't been part of it, but wound up with a snowball to the head anyway. "Well, that's snow way to say hi," he said with a friendly smile, as though he didn't have snow dripping down his hair.
