[Snagglefoot Miffen is the name of the thief that has snatched up some precious gems from a local jewelry shop in Camelot. And if there is one thing that Izuku can’t tolerate as a student studying to be a hero? It’s crime, of course! When he had seen the task, he had signed up right away. Being away from his homeworld and his school hasn’t taken anything away from Izuku’s determination to be a hero and to help out whenever he can.

But this thief is chalking it up to be quite the challenge. A slippery fellow that once Izuku gets a single lead is off before Izuku can reach the next one. He’s been tracking the man through the streets as fast as he can, but the thief seems to be one step ahead of him so far. The next lead means he’ll be heading to the Red Springs Inn next. That means Izuku has to get there before he does.]

Alright, I’m not letting him get ahead of me this time. Even if I’m here... I still have to be. Plus Ultra!

[There is a flicker of magic as Izuku places his hands on a nearby tree. A flash and a bang later and the tree transmutes and grows into a twisted-looking wooden ladder with footholds and all. Izuku is then climbing up the ladder onto the roof of the nearby building and is then running and leaping from roof to roof. Better for the bird’s eye view and to get to the Red Spring Inn faster! Occasionally, only stopping to transmute more branches and tall hanging trees into planks to use as a jumping point to the next roof or ledge!

[b: quest: farmers-r-us]

[Farming is still helping and Izuku is just glad that he can lend a hand. Alchemy magic also seems to be a good thing to have in this regard. He’s working with the local farmers with helping the new crops sprout. He’s slow at the work at first but he’s getting better at it bit by bit. And when he’s not helping with the crops himself he is also a healthy strong boy so moving supplies and hauling tools or crops is right up his alley too. The hard work feels nice!

What he doesn’t notice right away while he’s working is the small next of pixies that have seemed to have nested in a corner of the field he’s working in. One moment he is kneeling down to plant and work on some seedlings when his foot catches a part of the nest buried in the brush.]

Eh-??! [Whoosh!!

In an instant, the nest of pixies erupts like a swarm of bees flying around him in a pink and glittery haze! His hair flies up and sticks there as he blinks rapidly at the swarm whooshing all around him! He flails!]

Ah-!! Ack- AHHHHiiii!!

[How does he get the swarm of ~~bees~~ pixies to stop?! They’re starting to chant some sort of magic or charm and the air is starting to spark!]

[c: 🥦 broadsword shopping]

[Being in a fantasy world like this and without his usual quirk Izuku has realized he needs a way to keep up with combat and battle without being able to use his usual superpowers. Alchemy isn’t always a combat type of magic (or at least he hasn’t quite honed a way to use it in a combative way just yet) so he thinks with a weapon that it would be a good way to supplement his skills.

And who doesn’t want a big as heck sword to go with this entire fantasy world vibe?? Like right out of a JRPG!?

Izuku is browsing a local blacksmith and weapons store. Looking at a row of the broadswords that might fit his style and his grip. He’s never bought a sword before so he is a little out of his league right now but looking at the weapons is just … so freaking cool.]

Uaa... These swords are amazing! I can’t believe I’m really here and I can get one…!

[d: 🥦 alchemy studying]

[Izuku is still very new to alchemy but he is getting the hang of transmuting organic matter. Wood, plants and the like came to him easily enough. But with his classmates learning their own magic he does want to try and see if he can study enough to help them as well. With Katsuki and Tsuyu both using light magic, he has figured that the faster he learns how to change and manipulate glass, metal and precious stones? The better.

And that is where Izuku is right now. He’s sitting on a bench outside as he tinkers with a handful of copper pieces and a container full of sand. He’s currently trying to transmute the copper pieces into different shapes and later trying to change the sand into proper glass lenses.

Holding the piece of copper in his hand Izuku suddenly winces as his magic flashes and burns his skin. He drops the copper piece with a clatter! This is going to take some practice...]

If I can get copper and sand to work right... I can start making magnifying lenses...

[Izuku is starting to mutter to himself!]

[What does 'talking about it' mean, Izuku is just trying to not think about all of that stuff too much or he'd be up for days without sleep! He knows there is stuff to deal with but even bringing it up with Katsuki from the get-go makes him very nervous. He still barely survived getting Katsuki to move into a place with him- gosh.

But the memories they shared in those memory pods... They're still at the back of his mind.]

Eh? Hey-! [He quickly tries to grab for the books before Katsuki can get to them. Yoink!] I can put these on the shelf, Kacchan!

[He frets!!]

And I really don't think I'll be doing anything with explosive materials- Ahh... Yet?

[Definitely, YET.]

[ Nope! Katsuki grabs the entire box and moves it out of Izuku's reach. Whatchu got in there Deku? Is it nerd shit? It better not be nerd shit. ....It's totally nerd shit. ]

I got it. Go get your other boxes.

[ Don't argue with him! ]

[But it's his nerd shit!]

Kacchan-!

[He doesn't want him to do all that for him when Izuku can do it himself! But is it really worth arguing over? Probably not right now. So he sighs sheepishly and then leaves the room to get his other things. When he returns he puts the other box on the bed too.]

That should be it. We should do some shopping in the next couple of days?

[ HE'S NOT ON THE DESTROYING YOUR STUFF BULLSHIT ANYMORE DEKU. IT'S FINE. But no, really, it's okay. They had this argument already back on the beach, right? So he expects all of the notebooks and is even putting them in some kind of order - organized by volume and by contents. ]

Probably should. I have leftovers to hold us over until then.

[ Katsuki clicks his tongue and thinks about this for a moment. ]

I need to see what we have to work with down there.

[Doesn't stop Izuku from fretting about it still. A little nervous as Katsuki goes through his notebooks of written powers (even some from South Sister there), magic and alchemy... His nerd shit.

Oh, Izuku is also bringing in a sheathed broadsword wrapped in a packaging cloth. He sits that down on the bed... Yeah, a sword.]

Okay... I wonder how hard it would be to make something like katsudon...

[ Had he rewritten some of his nerd books? Or had some of them traveled across the whatever dimensional rift so that they can be here in Camelot or whatever the hell they are... Well it's not like Katsuki had anything that he would have wanted to transport. Makes sense that Deku would though. At this rate it could be easy to pretend that everything that happened from South Sister simply... Didn't. Although it's not like they can, right?

But he stops long enough to actually look over to see what Izuku is pulling out. He almost laughs at the sight of a broadsword of all things. Katsuki isn't surprised in the least that this is what Deku would go for. What he is imagining is all of the people probably looking concerned! Ha! As if the know anything about this shitty nerd. ]

Where'd you get it?

[ Thinly veiled curiosity there, Katsuki. It's not like he wants one of his own or anything like that. Oh nooo. Nope nope nope. Not at all. He's not secretly enjoying any of this. He totally has everyone fooled! ]

It's not like katsudon is all that hard to make, Deku.

[The notebooks are a very big reminder that everything in South Sister did happen. There are notes on the powers and abilities that Izuku had made when he had posted there. Jun's mysterious magic, Sokie's explosive abilities, Rose's healing skills... It's all there. And a very big reminder that the time they shared in that icy inn actually happened. Izuku is a bit nervous about what Katuski might think if he flips through those pages.

... But at least Izuku can look down at the sword and be somewhat distracted by how much he loves it. He perks up, a sparkle in his eye as he smiles.]

I got it just last week from a blacksmith shop...! A real broadsword. It's made of iron with a heavy grip. A few people helped me test and pick one out. Isn't it great, Kacchan? I can show it to you if you want to see it.

[This little spark of how excited he is for being able to actually learn how to use a sword- in real life-! A nerd's dream come true.]

[ It's fine, really. Katsuki actually won't be looking at the contents. He probably is too nervous to as well, since Izuku is so hyper about him even touching them. It's hard being respectful of this crap! ]

You mean people let a baby faced freckled nuisance like you actually pick one out?

[ Since Deku clearly looks like a bookworm and not at all like someone that could handle himself. Katsuki even reaches over and pinches one of those cheeks, snickering. ]

Unpack everything first, shitnerd.

[Izuku actually lets out a short laugh as he swats and pushes Katsuki's hand away from pinching his cheek. Quit that- A short blush of pink erupting over both of his cheeks as he moves to tuck the blade away for now.]

Kacc- Actually- It was...! Kind of frustrating when some people kept saying something lighter would suit me but- I got what I thought was good for me.

[He wanted a heavy weapon! ... He can handle it. So Izuku's stubbornness about proving himself sort of shone through a few times.

Back to unpacking the rest of Izuku's books.]

[ And that stupid laugh makes his ears burn. There's... No flinching. Just smiling and laughing and - ]

They aren't wrong. [ Focus on something else Katsuki... ] But not in the sense that those losers are thinking.

[ How can he explain this shit... Augh. He holds out his hand. ]

[Gosh, he was about ready to argue his points to Katsuki too. But there's something else that Katsuki is trying to explain. And there's no harsh insult or raised tone...

His cheeks are still pink. Even as he puts his book down and reaches out to take Katsuki's hand and squeezes it? ... Is this weird?]

Izuku frowns.]

What- Why? Okay- Fine!

[He grunts and then grips Katuski's hand with his strength! Which is pretty damn good even without the quirk- but there is something lacking...]

[ Well yeah it's pretty damn good but... ]

And just how long do you think you're going to be able to sustain that?

[ Because it's not going to take too much to break that grip. ]

Every time you destroyed your arms you destroyed tendons and ligaments. Nerves. There's only so much elasticity in them. The problem isn't your raw strength. The problem is your grip. You probably didn't notice it too much with One For All, but you'll notice it here. Especially since you had to heal the natural way on the island. Physical therapy for that shit is like twelve weeks, Deku.

My grip...?

[Izuku looks down at his hand. The scarred one is still holding Katuski's hand but his grip loosens to a normal hold.

It's true that without One For All he doesn't have it enhancing his endurance anymore either. In this place, he really is a normal quirkless person again. With no random healing quirks that can bounce him back or accelerate his healing. Training muscles and grip back to where they're supposed to be is an entirely different ballgame.]

I didn't notice it before, I don't know if it's as bad as you think. [Izuku's normal stubbornness again, no doubt.] There isn't enough time to do twelves weeks of physical therapy, but with some handgrip training...

[ Okay, Deku. Now it's a little weird. Don't go just holding his hand? Katsuki's ears burn more fiercely as he snatches his hand back and rubs it on his pant leg a bit. It... Tingles okay? ]

I don't know how bad it is obviously! I'm not a damn doctor! I just know you'll permanently damage it and fuck it up worse if you're not careful, dipshit!

Ain't a chance in hell that I want you to use the excuse of not being able to properly take care of yourself being the reason why I crush you next time we fight!

Though he had been about to point out that a lighter sword would also work better because Deku's strongest muscles are in his legs now, not necessarily his arms. Claymores and broadswords aren't really meant for quick and fast assaults. More like cleaving. A short sword would probably be best because of Deku's movement capabilities. ]

[He wasn't trying to make it weird! Izuku quickly jolts back and puts his hands up.]

Then I'll go see someone about it to see if there's anything else I can do! It's not going to be an issue, Kacchan! I can take care of it!

[So stubborn. And Izuku is just so set on doing things the way he wants to right now. With the sword choice included. But he realizes maybe he should listen to Katsuki in this case? ... Is he worried? No- no way.]

[ Nope. Not worried at all.

Now there's something settling between them. Something... Different. It's not the normal tension that's usually between them. No, this makes his pulse quicken and, yes, his palms sweat and fingers twitch. There's a feeling that he should do something. That he should fill the silence that usually never had bothered
him before. In fact he had preferred it.

Katsuki feels like he is expecting something to happen. Waiting for it to. And yet - ]

Imma go get another box.

[ It unnerves him. ]

[When Katsuki brushes past to get another box Izuku stands there and looks over his shoulder at him. His hands drop and he holds the one that had been holding Katsuki for that brief moment. His fingers brushing over the tingling sensation there.

... He quickly looks down.]

There's just one more box...

[There is something different right now. Something that makes his heart feel tight in his chest. These tiny moments of laughing and touching- Katsuki being... worried maybe??

He puts that tingling hand on his chest before he tries to calm down. He'll try to look normal by the time Katsuki gets back, quickly shoving the rest of his books into the shelf.]

[ It's the same for Bakugou. He's leaving to calm down because he's a jumble of emotions. Whatever has changed between them - whatever has shifted - is really starting to become more and more noticeable. The blonde doesn't know how to address it because he doesn't rightfully know what it is. But then again talking about it means admitting that it's there and just...

Katsuki is just flat out embarrassed to admit it all to himself. No way could he admit that he doesn't know what's going on to Izuku. Just no. That's why he goes and brings the last box inside. All Katsuki needs is some fresh air and time to calm down and maybe rub at his hand a little. ]

Got it.

[When it comes down to it, even with the little arguments or the things they don't agree on...? He's actually really happy this is happening. Sharing a place with Katsuki makes it feel like they're really getting along. Friends, even.

... Maybe something more- ... No- Probably not good to let his brain go off in that direction. Again.

Even if these little moments make his chest pinch.

He quickly takes a few deep breathes and stretches out his hand (maybe he will look into the grip issue...) and once his books are finished with he goes back to the bit of clothing he has goes to hang them up.]

[ Katsuki himself has mixed emotions about all of this. On one hand, it does alleviate some of his concerns. Especially with that bastard running around. Katsuki can definitely keep a better eye on Izuku this way.

But being in such a small space with him... Something about that also just makes his anxiety spike. Like he's going to get caught with his hand in the cookie jar or get in trouble. Or be exposed? Maybe that's the correct word. But why should he feel something like that? ]

How did you manage to get so much shit already...

[This time when Katsuki returns there seems to be a small goat following at Katsuki's heel. Where did he come from? Probably doesn't matter much. He's following Katsuki's heel and sits next to Katsuki's foot where Katsuki might stop.

Izuku looks down at his familiar ... And frowns. Because he knows that the goat is only doing that because of Izuku's own feelings.]

Ah- I ...

[He shoves his cloak into the closet roughly.]

There were a lot of books I wanted to read. On top of the basic alchemy kits that were given out, the materials I've been working on, the history I wanted to go over about this world, my things from South Sister and my new sword... It all started to pile up, I guess?

[ Katsuki catches the frown. Not really sure where it's aimed at. Though he does look at the goat that just seems to... Like him? Follow him around? He's not sure what that thing is doing either. Oh well. Whatever. He's not going to do anything to it just yet. ]

How many basic alchemy kits do you even need?

[ Oh god. Is Deku a reckless spender? Is that something that Katsuki is going to have to watch too? ]

[He might not be the best with his money but he's not terrible-]

I only got two of them! It's better to have a back up incase I use up the first one!
