[Snagglefoot Miffen is the name of the thief that has snatched up some precious gems from a local jewelry shop in Camelot. And if there is one thing that Izuku can’t tolerate as a student studying to be a hero? It’s crime, of course! When he had seen the task, he had signed up right away. Being away from his homeworld and his school hasn’t taken anything away from Izuku’s determination to be a hero and to help out whenever he can.

But this thief is chalking it up to be quite the challenge. A slippery fellow that once Izuku gets a single lead is off before Izuku can reach the next one. He’s been tracking the man through the streets as fast as he can, but the thief seems to be one step ahead of him so far. The next lead means he’ll be heading to the Red Springs Inn next. That means Izuku has to get there before he does.]

Alright, I’m not letting him get ahead of me this time. Even if I’m here... I still have to be. Plus Ultra!

[There is a flicker of magic as Izuku places his hands on a nearby tree. A flash and a bang later and the tree transmutes and grows into a twisted-looking wooden ladder with footholds and all. Izuku is then climbing up the ladder onto the roof of the nearby building and is then running and leaping from roof to roof. Better for the bird’s eye view and to get to the Red Spring Inn faster! Occasionally, only stopping to transmute more branches and tall hanging trees into planks to use as a jumping point to the next roof or ledge!

[b: quest: farmers-r-us]

[Farming is still helping and Izuku is just glad that he can lend a hand. Alchemy magic also seems to be a good thing to have in this regard. He’s working with the local farmers with helping the new crops sprout. He’s slow at the work at first but he’s getting better at it bit by bit. And when he’s not helping with the crops himself he is also a healthy strong boy so moving supplies and hauling tools or crops is right up his alley too. The hard work feels nice!

What he doesn’t notice right away while he’s working is the small next of pixies that have seemed to have nested in a corner of the field he’s working in. One moment he is kneeling down to plant and work on some seedlings when his foot catches a part of the nest buried in the brush.]

Eh-??! [Whoosh!!

In an instant, the nest of pixies erupts like a swarm of bees flying around him in a pink and glittery haze! His hair flies up and sticks there as he blinks rapidly at the swarm whooshing all around him! He flails!]

Ah-!! Ack- AHHHHiiii!!

[How does he get the swarm of ~~bees~~ pixies to stop?! They’re starting to chant some sort of magic or charm and the air is starting to spark!]

[c: 🥦 broadsword shopping]

[Being in a fantasy world like this and without his usual quirk Izuku has realized he needs a way to keep up with combat and battle without being able to use his usual superpowers. Alchemy isn’t always a combat type of magic (or at least he hasn’t quite honed a way to use it in a combative way just yet) so he thinks with a weapon that it would be a good way to supplement his skills.

And who doesn’t want a big as heck sword to go with this entire fantasy world vibe?? Like right out of a JRPG!?

Izuku is browsing a local blacksmith and weapons store. Looking at a row of the broadswords that might fit his style and his grip. He’s never bought a sword before so he is a little out of his league right now but looking at the weapons is just … so freaking cool.]

Uaa... These swords are amazing! I can’t believe I’m really here and I can get one…!

[d: 🥦 alchemy studying]

[Izuku is still very new to alchemy but he is getting the hang of transmuting organic matter. Wood, plants and the like came to him easily enough. But with his classmates learning their own magic he does want to try and see if he can study enough to help them as well. With Katsuki and Tsuyu both using light magic, he has figured that the faster he learns how to change and manipulate glass, metal and precious stones? The better.

And that is where Izuku is right now. He’s sitting on a bench outside as he tinkers with a handful of copper pieces and a container full of sand. He’s currently trying to transmute the copper pieces into different shapes and later trying to change the sand into proper glass lenses.

Holding the piece of copper in his hand Izuku suddenly winces as his magic flashes and burns his skin. He drops the copper piece with a clatter! This is going to take some practice...]

If I can get copper and sand to work right... I can start making magnifying lenses...

[Izuku is starting to mutter to himself!]

[ The best chance they all have of mastering their magic and working to help this world and return home, is if they work together. At least, that's what Momo thinks. So when Izuku asked her for help with his alchemy studies, of course she volunteered.

She's glad she did. He's got the right idea, but clearly the way he's going about it could use some... finesse. ]

Maybe, take up the copper again and try to do it without burning yourself this time.

[ It's a bit hypocritical of her, when she herself is having trouble conjuring flames without burning herself. But... Oh well, she's trying. ]

Picture in your mind the form you want the copper to take. Then bring that image into reality.

[This really is a repeat of the time that Izuku was trying to make sure Katsuki was able to train properly back in South Sister. Complete with the notebook in Izuku’s hand where he’s gotten right back into his habit of writing down way too many notes about every little thing. Except his notebook has things about alchemy and other magic things now. And he’s pretty sure he’s going to need way more notebooks. Eventually.

Where they meet is just an open enough area where Izuku can see some of Katsuki’s light magic. He’s already seen a fair amount of Tsuyu’s light magic be he’s almost certain there’s going to be differences between her and Katsuki.]

Kacchan!

[He greets with a short wave. He’s still trying to ignore the fact that they had a rather stressful quest down in the magical archivists’ library but still... They’ve got work to do. And that is what he’s going to focus on! Yeah!]

[ It's less stressful and more embarrassing. Awkward. They haven't talked about that much like they haven't talked about the reason they had gotten into it at that inn made of ice. Honestly it's starting to build up isn't it? An issue that at least Bakugou doesn't want to fully acknowledge that's there, but it's going to blow up eventually.

All of their stupid problems usually do.

That's neither here nor there today. It's another thing that Katsuki is using to push all of that down. Focus on this matter rather than the other one because he has control over this at least. He looks up from his hands as he sees the nerd trotting on over, looking way too excited.

Gross. ]

Do you really got to bring notebooks with you everywhere? I thought you wanted a demonstration, not an entire goddamn analysis.

Hm? Is this... all new to you?

[ As soon as Akira notices someone is jumping from one roof to another, he can't help recalling all these acrobatic he used to make in Metaverse. Then, he realizes that someone might be chasing that Snagglefoot Miffen guy he's been trying to track down as well.

With a little help of air magic, Akira manages to get up on one of the roofs and calls out to Izuku. ]

Hey, do you need a sidekick?

[ Not knowing what Izuku is doing exactly isn't enough to stop him. ]

[He is absolutely thinking along the same lines as her. It's really great that they all have each other in this world. They all worked well together in class so why not here as well? It's all about teamwork making the dream work. Even Katsuki has been more cooperative lately!]

Right, magic isn't as literal as a quirk is. A lot of it is about picturing it in my mind, isn't it...? I'll try to make a thin square shape...

[Magic is a concept and alchemy is too. Luckily his magic really is similar to how Momo's quirk actually is. He holds the copper again and concentrates for a moment.]

Is that what you did when you used your quirk?

[ Wait, this is Katsuki's idea of cooperative?

...Never mind. ]

It was, at first. That was how I learned to use my quirk when I was young. It's like any muscle movement. When you're learning to walk, you think, "One foot in front of the other." But once you've done it enough, you move without thinking.

[It's not something that Izuku is really ready to talk about either. Easier to push away those complicated things and just focus on how they're all working together to help Katsuki get some gear made for his light magic. And Katsuki is even been cooperative about it! How can he pass that up-?

Even if things blow up in their faces later... Right now he's so much better at just throwing himself into studying.

He holds his notebook with a tight clutch and smiles sheepishly.]

It's better if I take notes so I know exactly what I need to focus on, Kacchan. If I'm right your magic is going to be different than what Tsu-chan can do so I want to make sure I've got everything written down so I don't forget.

[Sorry, the notebook isn't going anywhere.]

Eh?

[Izuku turns to her and nods sheepishly.]

Ah, I guess it's not entirely new. I've seen others use swords before. I've just never used one for myself. It's not exactly a common thing in my world either...

[Yelling at everyone for help with laserbeams??? Absolutely!]

Ah, that makes sense! I hope I can get to that point with alchemy too.

[So, thinking one foot in front of another first! Izuku looks down at his palms as the copper starts to manipulate again. But for some reason, he keeps heating it too much. He manages not to burn himself this time but it's still more of a mishappen triangle... Hmm.]

[ Even if he doesn't need to, Bakugou is taking the time to stretch. It helps clear his mind. Focus. Right now the blonde is going to need plenty of that to push himself. He has to get better at this. Has to excel. ]

We're capable of doing the same shit.

[ Because it's the same type. ]

Our brains work different. That's why it will develop differently.

[ Momo leans in to observe the result of Izuku's attempt, frowning thoughtfully. It's not exactly the same as her Creation, but she's able to apply some of the same principles. ]

The copper is undergoing a chemical transformation when you transmute it. The atoms get excited, and release energy, causing the copper to heat up. If you try to shape it more slowly, you might be able to prevent it from overheating.

Ah! A sidekick? Y-yeah!

[A SIDEKICK. Izuku can't help but feel a little flattered at a term like that being used for working with him. It's kind of a big deal for a hero student, after all.]

Are you trying to track down the jewellery thief too!? He's heading for the Red Spring Inn, we need to get there before he does!

That's right, you both might develop different styles.

[Izuku opens his notebook...]

For example, Tsu-chan has been working on shields that can stop projectiles. But you want to work on an offensive approach instead, right?

[ He flexes his fingers now. Little fragments and flickers of light shimmer at his fingertips. ]

Shields are easy. [ He's gotten those down pretty well. But then again that shouldn't be a surprise since he's as close as he is with Kirishima. They also work well together and that means understanding that hardening Quirk. ] But with her Quirk all of this won't come as naturally.

[ Because it's animal characteristics rather than producing or drawing from some inner source. But it might be different. Who knows. He's not close to her. ]

Still gonna work on barriers, but a lot of good that does if I can't fight for myself too.

[It took a bit, but Lizzie has finally figured out what her magic in this place is: kinetic. She's been told that includes the ability to fly, which is way too awesome not to laser-focus on as the first thing to master.

When she sees Izuku giving chase and run up to the rooftops in the distance, Lizzie is happy to tag in and help him. Backup in these kinds of situations is generally appreciated, and plus she likes the kid. It'll be nice to team up over something besides gaudy decorations and chocolate.

Lizzie takes to the sky in an effort to catch up to him.]

[Chang Geng was visiting the local blacksmiths under the pretense of getting his sword looked at...he's not telling anyone the real reason he's been going around, asking questions and taking a look at the craftsmanship on display. In fact, with the way he's smiles politely it's hard to tell he has any ulterior motives.

He'd just entered when he noticed a young man (a child, really though Chang Geng mused that at twenty he himself was only a few years older, in truth).]

Are you looking to get your first sword?

[Chang Geng was still dressed like he walked out of a Chinese period drama with the long hair and sword to match...mostly because he had been travelling with enough clothes (read: two outfits) that spending money on more didn't seem like a priority when he could just wash one while wearing the other. At least he wasn't also travelling this time.]

[ He looks a little too scrawny to be holding a sword... but, she supposes, everyone has to start somewhere. ]

In that case, I take it you don't have much knowledge about them. I'm no expert myself, but I do train and live among swordsmen, so I can offer a few bits of advice as you make your purchases.

Yeah, I want to make sure I see how she's doing too and what she might need. That'll be another day.

[Comparability with quirks and magic sure are a thing. And luckily Izuku and Momo have been discussing a lot.]

Anyway- Kacchan! Can you show me some of what you can do? How about those shields or barriers?

[That same nerdy spark in his eye! Happy to help! And happy to get to see Kacchan work!]

[It seems Ochako had a similar idea to Deku for the quests for today. Helping out on the farm is simple enough, and some good training for Ochako as well. It's hard work, but also some good exercise as well, especially now that Ochako now longer has her quirk to help haul heavy things as easily. She needs to work on her muscle tone, and this is the best wat to go about it. She's got a large basket of husked corn she was carrying to the storehouse when she sees Deku off in the distance. Ochako was just about to say hello to her friend when she notices that he's being...attacked?

Oh shit, she has no idea what is attacking him, but makes an estimated guess at some sort of angry insect. Maybe he accidentally stepped on a buried hornet nest or something?! Regardless, Ochako drops the basket and hurries over toward her friend to try and help. Or at least grab him and try to run away - maybe take shelter in a barn house or even one of the animal pens until the swarm calms down.]

Deku-kun!! G-Guard your face, don't let them near your eyes! [The last thing he needs is to get a swollen eye or something worse...]

[ Fine. Deku wants to get to work? Then let's get to work.

Bakugou turns and stands there, then puts hands in his pockets. ]

All right, nerd. So come at me.

[ This is going to be a practical training. For them both. ]

I'm going to guess by the level of enthusiasm you have, this is your first time getting a weapon?

[Gaius had stopped by to get tools to help maintain the blades on his spear and had to see what Izuku was up to.]

Do you know what you want?

Aha... Right. Alchemy is partly a chemical transformation as well... If I can slow down the process of atoms changing shape...

[He can't help the bit of nervous sweat he breaks into. Mastering a new skill like this is something else. He's nervous and excited at the same time! Trying with the next piece Izuku once again tries to shape the copper into a square. But this time trying to slow down the process.]

Eh? I think it's working-! If I can get this right then we can start brainstorming for Kacchan and Tsu-chan and-

[Crackle! Snap! ... Pop!]

Eh? Ehh??

[The copper starts to bubble and pop in Izuku's hand and then suddenly shoots out of his hand like a piece of shrapnel! Watch out, Momo!!]

Ahh!!?

[ Instinctively, Momo raises her arms to block her face. This would be when she creates a shield out of her forearm to protect her and--

--nope, no chance of a shield. The glowing hot metal smacks into Momo's wrist and then drops onto the table, still bubbling and popping. Momo winces and grits her teeth. The contact was brief, but long enough for the burned area to sting a bit. She rubs at the spot, taking a deep breath to try to calm her racing heart. ]

Maybe... Let's not get ahead of ourselves. One thing at a time, yes?

[And here is Izuku standing there like he's about to be an observer and not really partake in the demonstration-]

Alright if you could... Eh?

[... Wait a minute. Huh?]

Come at- Kacchan, I don't think I need to...?

[... They haven't really sparred or fought in a while now that he thinks about it. But without his quirk, Izuku can't help feeling that tiny bit of uncertain inferiority creep up on him. He looks down and tries to will it away quickly. And his alchemy isn't anything close to helping him in a combative way yet.]
