[ gran was very much the farmboy, so he's used to handling sheep. sure, they can breathe fire, but nothing was too challenging for the captain! so there he was, buried in shaven sheep wool as he worked away without a care in the world. when he realized that there was just too much to manage all on his own, he laughed. ]

Whoops, got too carried away! [ he turns to his partner with a grin. ] Mind helping me out?

[ being unaware of the truth-telling, gran was more than happy accepting the drink and floating in the air without a care. it almost felt like he was back on the grandcypher, welcoming the best parts of his home world without a care. but getting down was another problem. but best not to think on it right now. sunbathing while floating was a lot more fun. ]

I wonder how clouds form....

[ gran had been struggling with elemental magic. at first he had found it exciting, but nowadays he just found it uninteresting. he found endless possibility in alchemy, but not in elemental magic. so he was at the training grounds, trying to find out it if it was him, or if it was just the magic that he found boring.

but even with that, he couldn't find anything wrong. ]

Would changing magic be any good? Or am I just overthinking things? [ he didn't expect anyone to answer, but it was eating away at him. ]

[This wouldn't be the first time that Tifa has brought around something for them, or their house, but this would mark the first time that she's done it without Eustace around or calling first. Part of her worried that he simply wouldn't answer if she knew she was coming, especially after what happened the other night... Before then, she's been here several times already, bringing large containers of soups or salads or any variety of healthy foods to help him recover with enough to spare for his roommate, that it's now just become a habit long after Eustace's arm has healed. He'll say she doesn't need to, but... she's been in their kitchen, and yes, she does need to.

It isn't just with a pot of soup that she arrives armed with today, though. She has a bag slung over her arm filled with all kinds of knick-knacks, mostly essentials for their kitchen that she found while out—actually, it wasn't a coincidence that she found all of these things, she had been out shopping for them specifically!

Unbeknownst to her that he won't be around to see them, Tifa raps on their front door and calls out from the outside.]

Hey, Eustace? I brought you and Gran some gifts.

[granmaster]

[ gran blinks. he wasn't aware someone was coming??? but the voice sounded feminine, and clearly mentioned eustace first, so it was possible it was one of his friends. the captain had to think for a moment as to why would she come unannounced until he remembered it was eustace he was thinking about.

so he jumps off the couch without much issue, opening the door with a smile. treating a friend with kindness is a must, even if it isn't his friend! ]

Hello there! Eustace isn't here, but I can definitely take those off your hands.

[At least this one has the decency to come to the door fully dressed.

She's a bit surprised to find Gran there—with her past few visits being very brief, she hadn't had the chance to meet him, even in passing, so there's a moment go a touch wider, her lips falling open in silent shock, but it warms into a smile soon enough.]

You must be Gran. Nice to finally put a face to the name.

[Tifa has heard only bits and pieces about him, but enough to know that he meant a lot to Eustace. The fact that he had taken him and sought out a place to move to protect him was telling enough on its own... but the smile Gran offers her tells her that all of it was true.

She peeks into her bag.]

It's just some things I figured you boys could use... Things I noticed were missing. [Mostly kitchen stuff. It's nothing fun.] And some more soup. It's frozen, but all you'll need to do is heat it up on the stove.

[granmaster]

[ gran returned tifa's smile with his own, nodding. ] It's nice to meet you!

[ when mentioning things for the kitchen though, he could only laugh sheepishly. yeah, they were missing a lot, and gran had been meaning to buy things, but it seems he was beaten to the punch. ]

Thank you so much! You've already done so much for us, honestly... I gotta make it up to you somehow. [ then he remembers they're still at the door. ] Oh, come in, take a rest for a moment or two. Hopefully it wasn't that long of a trip, though.

[First impression? A completely stark contrast to Eustace. Where Eustace is quiet and brooding, Gran is like a breath of fresh, cool air. It's nice to know that he has someone important to him that will help balance him out. People like that need a friend like Gran.

She hadn't meant to intrude on his time or space, but she enters anyway, happy to take a rest when she can get one. The trip from the Inn had been long, and then the trip from the store even longer. Besides, it wouldn't hurt to get to know him a little, and maybe show him how to use everything she's brought for them!]

It was a bit, but I don't mind. Needed to get out and stretch my legs. Besides, I figured you boys could use some more soup too.

[Tifa lifts the bags in her hands.]

Hope you like tomato.

[ gran could only nod, relieved he could at least give tifa the time to relax for a moment or two before heading back home. when she mentions tomato soup, gran lights up. ]

Oh, sweet! I'll probably enjoy it later, when Eustace is back. [ sharing meals with friends was very important to gran, that was for sure. ]

If you don't mind me asking, what else did you bring?

[Tifa's expression turns sheepish at that, and she peers into the bag again.]

Mostly just kitchen things that I noticed you guys could use. Knife sharpener, egg timer, garlic press, a pepper mill, some good whisks, a peeler, thermometer, and...

[She reaches in and pulls out a bundle of soup ladles. There's got to be at least five or six of them all wrapped together, and around them is a nice little bow that she put there herself.]

Last but not least, some soup ladles! Finally.

[Among other things. There's way more in the bag than what she's listed.]

[ Shinsou is at the point of practicing his flying/hovering skills (Kinetic magic) where he travels just above rooftop-level by default. Then, he sees a stranger hovering as well, a little lower than himself, but he glides down to that level out of curiosity. ]

You have Kinetic magic too?

No, I just drank the fizzy drink. But I have been thinking about changing my magic....

[ gran wouldn't even know he was telling the truth. he tells the truth on a daily basis. ]

How is kinetic magic, actually?

Changing it? Not just getting a new type? There's a way to swap one for another?

[ Talk about a major change from Quirks. ]

What do you want to know about it?

[ He doesn't sound too reserved in talking about it, just that the question is a little vague. To be fair, here he is, floating, and not bothered or breaking a sweat to do it. ]

I heard that if you ate a fruit from a specific plant during the equinox, you can change magic.

[ with the fall equinox growing ever closer, gran had started to think about the magic he had gotten. but because the question was a little vague, gran saw it as free real estate. ]

Well, what exactly does it entail-- Is it just movement of objects and self? Can you move others to an extent? Is is taxing on the body-- though from just watching you it doesn't look like it? But what other uses does it have? Does gravity make it harder to master kinetic magic?

[ Ritsuka is not a farmer, unless one wants to go into a more meta definition... but that's the reason she's even here in the first place. She'd seen the quest board, and this one in particular called to something deep in her gacha protagonist soul.

That doesn't mean she actually knows much about shearing sheep, so for the moment, she's just looking at the amount of wool he's amassed with open admiration. ]

I'd be glad to, but, uh... you kind of seem like you're doing pretty good on your own, there. Are you sure you need help?

[granmaster]

[ gran is laughing shyly, rubbing the back of his head. there was so much wool.... he managed to get enough to complete the quest twice at this point. ]

I do need help! Do you mind taking all this wool elsewhere? Or just get it under control! I still got a lot of sheep to get through.

I can do that, give me a moment--

[ It's time to roll up her sleeves literally. ]

--do you think it's safe, once the wool is off the sheep? I've heard about the whole "setting themselves on fire" thing, but I don't know if that's something with the wool or about the animal itself...

[ Ritsuka, did you read the quest past "shear sheep, get gold"? No. No, she did not. ]

It looks like it is safer for them. [ gran keeps an eye on the sheep he's shearing as he speaks. ] The wool looks super flammable, and if it's not within reach of the flames, they're good.

What even happened to make you guys evolve like this, huh? That just seems like a bad idea.

[ Yes, she is absolutely addressing the sheep as she bends to heft a large armful up. And then she looks at Gran, a faint smile on her face. ]

I'm glad to help. I don't know the first thing about shearing sheep, but, uh... [ a shrug, good-naturedly embarrassed ] When I saw the offer, I just felt compelled to jump on it, you know?

Maybe there was someone higher up the food chain that they had to do something to survive. Or their parents were cursed with fire breath and was passed down to their kids.

[ gran knew it sounded bonkers, but there was no stopping his imagination, nor from answering the question! he returns the small smile with a large one of his own. ]

I know the feeling. But luckily for me, I've had to shear a couple sheep in my life, so it comes naturally.

Man, who'd want to curse a sheep...

[ It might be bonkers, but she responds with sincerity. Weirder things have happened! She's seen it! So even if she can't think of a reason why a herd of sheep would be cursed, the possibility of it seems entirely reasonable to her. ]

--Do you mind showing me? I'd be happy to take some of what you've got off your hands right now, but I at least wanna know what I'm doing for later in this month...

Magic Debate?

What have you been doing with it?

[Zidane trains when he has the time this month. So much to do, little time, and hopefully it would calm down again next month - or he would do less next month. Point was, he found time to train, and someone nearby was talking about changing magic.]

[Was that even possible?]

Not much...? I've used Alchemy a lot more, actually.

[ that's the predicament, but at least someone decided to talk to him about it. ]

I guess I don't use Elemental magic because I never had it at home? [ the elements back home came from the weapons, after all... ]

Oh, you use Alchemy too? Cool.

[Not bad, not bad.]

That makes sense. I'll tell you this, it's pretty good to have on hand while traveling. It can help deal with some obstacles that your alchemy probably can't.

Yeah! I've never met another alchemy user.

[ he listens, humming to himself. ] You have a point there. I guess because I had it at home I don't find it interesting...

Oh? I'm not one. Kinetic, but I know an Alchemist.

[Zidane nods.] How'd you use it at home and how have you tried using it here?

[granmaster]

Ah, that makes sense. [ he didn't look the type, anyways. ]

I used it mostly when fighting, but it really depended on what role I was filling in the moment. [ sometimes a gacha protag had to be a tank or a cannon. one cannot pick. ] Small spells or just using the element to fight with.

You know, when I first arrived here, someone suggested to me to try mixing magic. You should try getting a little more creative outside of fighting. But I mean, if you don't really like it, can you change it here?
