[ gran was very much the farmboy, so he's used to handling sheep. sure, they can breathe fire, but nothing was too challenging for the captain! so there he was, buried in shaven sheep wool as he worked away without a care in the world. when he realized that there was just too much to manage all on his own, he laughed. ]

Whoops, got too carried away! [ he turns to his partner with a grin. ] Mind helping me out?

[ being unaware of the truth-telling, gran was more than happy accepting the drink and floating in the air without a care. it almost felt like he was back on the grandcypher, welcoming the best parts of his home world without a care. but getting down was another problem. but best not to think on it right now. sunbathing while floating was a lot more fun. ]

I wonder how clouds form....

[ gran had been struggling with elemental magic. at first he had found it exciting, but nowadays he just found it uninteresting. he found endless possibility in alchemy, but not in elemental magic. so he was at the training grounds, trying to find out it if it was him, or if it was just the magic that he found boring.

but even with that, he couldn't find anything wrong. ]

Would changing magic be any good? Or am I just overthinking things? [ he didn't expect anyone to answer, but it was eating away at him. ]

I kind of figured. Eustace told me to do the same thing when I brought that first pot of soup. [ ... ] Actually, he told me to use a measuring cup.

[She's been here enough times that she knows where things are and begins to make her way to the kitchen counters to set it all down, and to put the new soup in the fridge for them to eat later. Hopefully they'll know to do it on a pot on the stove, and not the microwave???

With all of that out of the way, she turns to Gran.]

You two have known each other for a while?

[She figures as much, if they're living together, and if they both had the exact same solution to the soup ladle issue...]

[ ... ] That kinda just makes more work in the end.

[ listen he's only really had to worry for himself and a tiny red dragon. it wasn't much. even so, he watches tifa work her way through her kitchen, letting her do so because it seems eustace has been letting her in a lot more than he thought.

he blinks when she asks about their relationship. ]

Yeah, for some time now. He's actually a crewmember of mine! [ he laughs. ] It's been some time, but he was even more closed off when I met him! I'm really hoping this place does him good.

[More closed off!? Tifa can hardly imagine what that was like... Trying to be friends with him now is a trial all on its own, and that's with him being less so? She perishes the thought.

Honestly, given how much time she's spent with him, she doesn't know much about his relations or his story from home. Besides the small details about his childhood, he hasn't said much, so hearing that he was a crewmember? Colour her curious!

She's already putting away some of the things she brought, unwrapping them, ripping off tags, and stuffing them neatly into the drawers, perhaps organizing some of them in the process.]

So, are you a captain of something?

Yeah! I'm the captain of a skyfaring crew back home. We're pretty well-known, actually. But Eustace and I met through other circumstances.

[ circumstances that he doesn't want to get into. he knows eustace is a closed off person, and breaking his trust was not a good thing, so he stays quiet. its his story to tell, not gran's. ]

But ever since then he's been nothing but a great help... even when all he wants do do is be alone.

[ was that a pout on gran's face? the world may never know. ]

[It's fine, Gran. She understands, and while Tifa gets that there are some people who prefer to be alone sometimes, there is a line drawn between wanting to be alone and refusing help when it's offered, which is something he keeps trying to do!

She may have pouted right back.

Except not for long, because her eyes light up with interest again.]

Skyfaring!? You mean like airships?

Yeah, airships! It's been a lot of work, but it's the most rewarding thing that I've ever done.

[ he's grinning ever so brightly as he continues. ] It lets me meet new people, have experiences I've never dreamed of having, and just having the time of my life! It really can't get better than that!

[It honestly sounds amazing, and when he grins even brighter, that only makes Tifa's own smile spread.]

You know, I've heard about people having airships back home, but I've never been in one before.

[Not yet, anyway. Little does she know is that her time in one will come sooner than she thinks...!

Tifa's voice is almost whimsical as she talks, her eyes moving to the nearest window to peer out at it to the skies.]

What's it like up there?

I'm sure you'll get to ride in one someday!! Airships are the best!

[ gran's rooting for you, tifa!!

but when asked about how it's like, gran's own voice is as excited as a little kid's. ]

Windy, but the sun always feels so good! It's always pleasant to wake up to the sun in your face and wind in your hair!

Wait, so you'd travel up there all the time? Even at night!?

[This changes everything.

Once upon a time, Tifa used to go out at night and gaze up at the stars in the Nibelheim skies, sitting at the water tower. It was a nice place to think, and to recharge and be alone with her thoughts. She can't imagine what it's like to not just gaze at them, but be among them.

She's missed them, before coming here. Midgar never did have a night sky. Not from where she was.]

Yeah, if needed! We travelled a lot, because we help out wherever we go, and sometimes it takes a super long time to get to where you need to be. Helps that our world is literally in the sky.

[ it wasn't called the sky realm for nothing. from seeing the endless expanse of the sky to the tens of thousands of stars that littered the skies above his head, gran never took them for granted, as he was once a kid gazing outside of the island's borders and yearn to be in clouds, not watching them.

now, earth bound once again, he knew he was just taking the time to be in it for granted. ]

It's really great. Hopefully one day you get to see it.
