Shining Karaoke - Opening night

Preparations

A few days before opening night, there's a lot of movement in the karaoke bar. Last decorations are put up, machines are checked and double checked and employees are being shown around to get familiar with the bar. Ren is around almost all of the time, guiding people and making sure everything goes smoothly.

The opening night

Because it's spring time, the karaoke bar has been decorated with cherry blossoms. The inside of the bar looks like a night under the cherry trees in japan: a sakura viewing, one might call it. It's a bit crazy to realize that you're walking in with how the interior looks. But it does become clear that this is the karaoke bar Ren has been talking about when you see the lobby where you can purchase drinks, snacks and rent booths.

Tonight though, all the snacks and drinks are free. There's a variety of colorful alcoholic drinks, not only suited for the sakura theme but also other rather interesting looking ones. Most of them can also be ordered alcohol-free. The snacks are mostly easy finger food, but also some very classy stuff like caviar (or closest to that you can find in Avalon). There is also a variety of soft and tea drinks.

The karaoke machines in various private booths are all available for testing as long as you wait for your turn patiently. There is also a karaoke machine in the main lobby and there is a chance to sing there as well. Though usually when someone sings in the lobby, others join in on the singing too.

Party Games

Various games have been set up! There's spin the bottle, twister and darts. There is also a karaoke game where the person who scored the slowest score has to put on a weird outfit that Ren has borrowed from the the theater.

If there's a game in mind, people are encouraged to set it up and have fun.


March 14th: White Day Celebration

The next day, anyone is invited to visit the karaoke bar again. Everyone is encouraged to pick chocolates they like from the selection on the tables and box them in a white box with a light pink ribbon. That box is later given to someone they like with well wishes. You can only make one box, so choose carefully who to give it to.

Of course nothing says you have to give it to someone. You could just eat them yourself.

Preparations

Much like last month, Ren was very busy with preparation work. Just like the concert, he wanted to make things perfect. So he spent a lot of time arranging things and making sure everything ran smoothly. Of course he managed to find time to talk with people who showed interest in becoming employees and he knew better than to not take a break from time to time.

Still, it might do him good to just drag him out. Just as a tip.


Opening Night

Ren is dressed appropriately for the night as he greets anyone walking in. He can be dragged off to sing or play party games, but mostly he's content in welcoming visitors and offering them some snacks or drinks: maybe even a kiss on the hand if you're a girl!

Ren will be around on White Day as well, but he's already picked what he wants and who he wants to give the present to. Otherwise, poke him at any prompt through the night or even wildcard after party talks. Floor's yours.

Of course if anyone was going to get a kiss on the hand it was going to be someone who he had talked about manners with. Ren smiled, holding onto her hand a while longer.

"Only the best for you, my lady. Thank you for attending tonight."

Shiro had attended at least part of the opening night, and now he's back the following day.

"Excuse me; might I speak with the proprietor?"

Now that's a term you don't hear everyday. Ren happens to be doing something by the front desk when Shiro comes over.

"Of course. What did you have on mind?"

Making picnics and baking cakes for the girls' celebrations is one thing. Designing a full menu for an establishment? That's... a little daunting for a sixteen-year-old, not gonna lie. Still, never let it be said that Mako couldn't face a challenge. (High school entrance exams aside. She's learned her lesson already.)

A quiet, deep breath, and she knocks on the door of Ren's office, two pieces of paper in hand.

"Ren-san? Hope I'm not interrupting."

Even if Makoto had been interrupting, far be it from Ren to actually admit that. But she's actually not as he's mostly going over some item lists.

"Not at all. Come right in, Makoto-chan."

"Ooh, Ren, you're such a gentleman." Rise giggles at the kiss on the hand. It's the kind of gesture she might normally find tacky at best and creepy at worst, but Ren is charming enough to make it work (and cute too boot,) and so she only brightens at the gesture.

"Does this mean you're going to be my Prince Charming tonight? ♥" She asks. She's joking. Probably. Maybe.

Ren has been known to pull of some tacky things thanks to just being him and he's not about to stop doing them now.

"I will always be your Prince Charming... as long as you don't mind sharing", Ren says with a wink.

[1] Preparations

[ Since it was her first time actually working somewhere, Yuzu wanted to make a good first impression. She's mostly helping out with putting up the last of the decorations and generally just trying to get a better feel of the place. ]

Hm... there's no uniform, but...

[ Maybe she should try to find something to wear when opening day arrives? Probably a thought she should bench for the moment. In any case, you'll find Yuzu helping out with finishing up all the decorations. ]

[2] Opening Night

[ Yuzu's taken to the job fairly well, though she was definitely nervous at first, but she's already taken a shine to it. She's not dealing with any alcoholic drinks of course, but her positive attitude is well-received.

She is looking a bit longingly at the main lobby's singing machine, though. But she works here, so she shouldn't really use it, right? Or maybe she just needs a little push. ]

[ Elfnein has also been eyeing the karaoke machine in the main lobby, but there's still too large of a crowd for her to feel ok singing in public. ]

[ She should leave the machine to others, right? That only made sense, after all. Though it's not like anyone has specifically told her not to do so, especially on the opening night celebration. ]

I. Wallflower
It's hard to miss the opening night, and the moment he walks in, Shiro's glad he didn't. It's beautiful in here, and hits him right in the nostalgia. With a pink drink in hand, he settles himself to watch the singing in the lobby, occasionally joining in on a song he actually knows.

II. White Day - outside
Shiro stands outside Shining Karaoke, shifting his weight as he rubs the side of his neck in awkward contemplation. Looks like someone needs a push to actually go inside.

III. White Day - inside
When he finally manages to get inside, he lingers over his choices to a ridiculous extent and even when he's made a choice he seems almost reluctant to put it in the box. Finally he has a full box and stands out of the way of others, looking down at the box with a worried pout on his face.

[ Yoon was walking by, not knowing anything about what was going on, but it was dark after all.

Once he gets closer, he sees the previously kind gentleman a little more reserved. ]

[Shiro startles slightly and lapses into a smile that's just slightly too bright.]

Normally Makoto is in the back with food prep, but with White Day being such a big hit and waitstaff being low, Mako's been asked to help with serving. (Ren's compliments about her infectious energy certainly helped, as did assurance that the rest of the kitchen staff would be fine.)

Which happens to pair her with one table with a very shy (and kind of cute, if old for her) guy sitting there fiddling with his box.

"Hey, there~" She approaches and gives him a nice, easy smile. "Is your box ready to go?"

Shiro looks up, smiling reflexively. "Oh, yes, ma'am. Just deciding whether or not to send it, really. You work here, right? Had a chance to take a break and sit down?" He gestures toward the other chair at the table.

Preparations |

[It takes a bit for Diluc to set the bar area in a way he prefers. Everything is different than what he is use to back at his own tavern but the bottles and glasses still carry a sort of familiarity to them. Its a strange comfort in a way.

Diluc is diligent in putting things in the perfect place so things are easy to grab and efficient for himself. Its after that he sets to looking over the bottles more or wiping down the counter. Most of the this time while doing this Diluc looks a bit lost in thought or even bored.

When he's not in that general area, he's exploring the rest of the place. Particularly the karaoke machines since those are...different and new to him. But if he sees anyone struggling with decorations he will make his way over and offer assistance]

[Diluc is busy filling orders. The menu has a bit of variety to it since this is opening night and what people have a taste in this town is new to Diluc. He did mostly follow the theme that Ren wanted with most being Sakura themed and matching the rest of the Karaoke bar. Not all the drinks are alcoholic of course but even those look delicious and detailed.

After all, he does take pride in his own work. Though one thing does linger on his mind. With the knowledge that drinks are free...it makes him wary of just who all that's going to attract. Two particular people come to mind that has his nose wrinkling but he tries to ignore it and focus on filling orders.

Anyone that sits at the bar is greeted with a polite nod followed by a request to what they would like to drink or if they are enjoying themselves? If a minor, then he'll offer non-alcoholic drinks of course.

Servers and other workers of Ren are greeted as well. Between their running back and forth he'll slide a drink smoothly down the bar counter to them, non-alcoholic since no one should really drink on the job, right?]

Later in the Evening |

[Given how different the Shining Karaoke is to his own tavern style, when Diluc is able to he does step away from the bar during his break to explore a bit.
This place is loud and all the singing is...something else but everyone for the most part seems to be enjoying themselves. He can't help stopping and linger when someone is attempting some of the games or karaoke. Be it bad or good, it's certainly something to see and hear.

Mondstadt certainly didn't have this many wanna-be bards.]

[Look at this wanna-be-bard (?) who's been here almost the entire night. Enjoying drink after drink and singing to his heart content while making quite a few new acquaintances. It gets to the point where Venti has probably racked up a fairly hefty tab without realizing it and has a flush of drunkenness across his cheeks.

He wobbles slightly as he lets out a happy giggle. Wandering over to where Diluc might be watching with a smile.]

My, Master Diluc... Won't you share at least one song with the rest of us? What's your singing voice like? Ehe...!

He should have warned Ren against that or at least set a rule against Venti. He knew this would happen and he knew this was coming. He's not surprised to Venti again at the bar.

How many times had he saw him?

He's lost count. The bridge of his nose wrinkles distastefully.]

Given that I am working, that is not going to happen. Besides, you seem to be singing and enjoying the night enough for the both of us.

[ The interior of the bar is certainly not what he would have expected, but it's very eye-catching, admittedly beautiful. Is this the overall look for the bar or simply something special for its first day of business? Zhongli didn't really bother asking Venti details about this "karaoke bar" aside from figuring out what karaoke even was. It's bustling with noise, not quite his taste, but people seem to be enjoying themselves and he knows that's always the point of a bar. Along with the drinks.

He should probably be keeping an eye on a certain bard, but Zhongli isn't here to babysit, so he takes a seat at the counter in silence. The bartender notices him quickly and greets him kindly, but when it comes to an order, Zhongli can't say he has anything in mind. Nothing that would be here, that is. ]

[Opening Night!]

[Although, there are private booths for Karaoke, Crow is fine with using the lobby's machine. He especially loves the energy and enjoys singing along with the crowd. It also helps that he's not shy to take the center stage, and cajole the other party patrons into song. Out of the choices, he tries to find a catchy rock song for them all to sing together. He's amazed by the wide selection.]

All right, Everybody! 1..2..3!!

[He starts singing this song. People are welcome to jump in, Crow will actually hug onto anyone and encourage them to follow the lyrics with him!]

[ The hedgehog is down to play any game! Though he gravitates over to the twister board since he hasn't played that in years. He enthusiastically spins the wheel to start the round. Right foot on yellow. He happily places his foot on the appropriate spot. This isn't so bad. He wraps his tail around his waist, so it doesn't get in the way of the game. He looks over to his opponent to see what sort of instructions will they get.]

[ Taichi's never played Twister before, but he's at the very least enthusiastic about trying. He spins himself and ends up right hand green. ]

[ Still working on exploring the city and looking for recognizable places, Fenton finds himself coming across the karaoke bar. He hesitates a little bit, he somehow finds himself stepping inside to look around.

He seems content to just watch people singing in the main lobby and munching on the free snacks, and drinking some alcohol-free drinks. If someone tries to offer him the microphone, though, he shakes his head. ]

Oh no, I couldn't...Trust me, you really wouldn't want to hear me sing.
