Let’s make this day the best in the world | Valentine's Day Concert
🧙 WHO: Anyone and everyone
⚔️️ WHAT: Valentine's Day Concert
🕒 WHEN: February 14th
🗺️ WHERE: At the theater in Camelot
⚠️ WARNINGS: None that I can think of, will edit if needed.
Backstage
Backstage was a busy place during the whole concert. There were people getting ready, people helping people get ready and even just friends visiting them to wish them good luck (or to break a leg) or just help relieve some of the stage fright. Each artist or group had access to a room of their own if they needed some alone time. All they had to do was put up a sign that the room was in use.
On the stage
The theater stage was decorated with appropriate Valentine's Day decorations - roses, hearts and other simple, but meaningful things. The curtain would come down whenever someone needed time to prepare the stage to look different and there were several talented musicians helping out to bring live music to the stage.
As they say, they stage is for the performers to take as their own, one or several at a time.
In the audience
The audience has seatings for those who desire it, but there is also a space for anyone to stand and dance. There's plenty of space even if there is a section of the audience sectioned off for a... pool? Why was there a pool in the theater? Well, it certainly wasn't for just anyone to casually swim in but instead it was reserved for a special guest making an appearance at the concert.
The Lady of the Lake had been invited by Ren to watch the concert. To be fair, he had also invited King Arthur, Merlin and the Lady Morganna, but only the Lady of the Lake had accepted the invitation (although looking at Merlin's instagram afterwards may prove different, as he was there but just under a disguise).
Snacks and beverages are also being served at the theater lobby. Of course, since it was Valentine's Day, there was plenty of chocolate to go around.
After-party
While the after-party was mostly aimed at performers to celebrate a successful concert, no one was turned away from it. Anyone wanting to visit the party to congratulate on the success or to just chat with the performers was definitely welcome to.
The party was hosted at the theater too, since why not use the space you needed to clean up the next day anyway. Anyone was also welcome to join the clean up process the next day as well, but Ren certainly wouldn't force anyone to help out.

afterparty!
The truth is, Crow's performance had been his favorite of the lot; it was the most to Kadoc's tastes of the sets performed. But there's something else he's just got to say before he gets to the awkward nervous praise portion of the evening:]
. . . What was with the cattle thing? That's been on my mind all night.
no subject
Oh? You're interested in the true meaning of that phrase, huh? Does that mean you've been converted into a crimson soul?
[ Crow comes off as smug as he tries to address Kadoc's question. After all, he did coin the phrase, so he's giving himself a pat on the back.]
Well, I call the audience, cattle, because they are. They live day by day in a stagnant world where they work to live. They continue a tiresome routine of which there's no escape because of societal obligations and expectations. It's very much like cows within a herd, being milked dry until they're discarded, and sent to slaughter. With my music, I want to encourage people to leave the cretinous herd behind and pursue a more fulfilling life.
[Although, that's only one side of the story, at least, the meaning he tells his fans. The more Kadoc gets to know Crow, he'll learn he was raised on a dairy farm.]
So did you enjoy the show?
no subject
[All of that just kind of spills out. It's the truth, after all. He may not have said it so simply or bluntly if he weren't just kind of reacting to the last thing said while the rest of his brain processes the bit before it . . . well, he had wanted to compliment this guy, though. That was part of the reason he'd decided to come initially, even if he'd later internally chickened out of making the first conversational move.
And now he has. Mission accomplished! But also, now he's got all that to think about too. It's hard not to smile a little, tiny and dry, at the detailed response. Makes sense that someone who would just casually throw out phrasing like that at his audience onstage would also have some strong feelings about it, and be willing to discuss them.
It's not even like he's wrong. . . . All the crimson soul conversion chatter aside. Kadoc does not know the term chuuni, and that is a shame.]
It's actually the first modern-sounding music I've gotten to listen to live in a really long time. . . . You could say I was living day by day in a stagnant world where people worked to live.
[His humor is dry, so dry. He barely even smiles. But it's funny because it's true.]
no subject
I mean aren't we all apart of a world like that? And now we're here!
[He's not sure if their situation is better or worse, but Crow wants to think positively until proven otherwise.]
But you said this is your first modern-sounding music? What have you been listening to before?
[Maybe this guy is coming from one of those ancient, medieval timelines where technology isn't as advanced.]
no subject
[Everything's happened so fast in arriving here that this is the first time Kadoc's actually had to pause and consider how he wants to handle explaining anything about his recent life at all. The answer, he decides, at least for now, is just to avoid doing so as much as possible. It's not like it's super relevant to the point, which is music. Music! He's missed it more than he even realized.]
I was living somewhere where all we had was one piano. Don't get me wrong, our musicians were beyond compare. The kind of playing even God would smile at. But it's not the same as listening to a good rock ballad. When I heard this was happening, I had to check it out.
no subject
[ Crow seems curious as Kadoc describes the music where he's from. Even if the other man doesn't want to divulge too deeply into his history, the vocalist will certainly prod him about the music! Just a piano, huh? Musicians beyond compare? Music that God would smile at? Crow bounces on his heels, his tail whipping back and forth, he wants to hear this type of music!]
Then if you find some way to get this godly music, I want to listen to it!
[Even if Crow is a rockstar through and through, he's a myumon, and his people love music! The Sound Universe where he comes from revolves around music, and it literally gives them the power to champion over the darkness.]
Oh, so you know about rock music! Then I'm glad you came to see me perform! I'm definitely going to do even more performances, so definitely seek me out again! By the way, the name's Crow!
no subject
Yeah . . . thanks. I mean it. I'd love to hear you again sometime. Uh, I'm Kadoc. . . . And I'm pretty sure I have a recording of the music I was talking about, but I dunno if it'd be your style. Like I said, it's just piano music.
[He tries to imagine this guy sitting down listening to Mozart . . . well, you never know.]
no subject
Kadoc? That name is really cool!
[Crow is more of an electric guitar kind of guy, but he can certainly appreciate good music even if it's completely different from what he likes. He's been introduced to different types of music since being in Avalon, so he's looking forward to listening to some more.]
Doesn't matter if it's piano music, though it might help me mellow out for a bit. I'm planning to perform again whenever the opportunity arrives but I'm not sure when that will be. In the meantime, I do have my band CD here, so if you ever want to listen to it, hit me up!
[He's happy to promote his band even in their absence.]
no subject
[Heh. If Merlin himself can't figure out audio conversion, what good is he! That's a hilarious thought to be having, though. Just another day in this wacky AU Camelot, huh? It does get a little smile out of Kadoc, as does the thought of piano music helping this bouncy ball of bizarre energy mellow out . . . that is not an unfamiliar concept in the slightest.]
So yeah, I'd like to hear your stuff. And I can guarantee the piano's pretty good at calming people down. I've seen it happen myself. So if you actually do wanna hear it, I can just lend you my MP3 player sometime.
no subject
Oh yeah, we might have to find a computer to upload the files.
[Though, Crow has no idea where he could find one of those or how to work it. Well, Kadoc seems like he has his head screwed on properly, so it'll work out.
At the offer, Crow's surprised. His MP3 player? Aren't those like super hard to find these days?]
What? You really trust me to borrow your device? Then let's swap! You can borrow my precious CD and I'll make sure to take care of your MP3 player, deal?
[That's good enough collateral, right? Crow is looking forward to hearing the serene piano music. It sounds like the perfect to wind down from a long day, he might even fall asleep to it. His neighbors will be thankful not to hear blaring guitar riffs through the night.]
no subject
. . . Deal, but if you end up making fun of my taste in music later, just do it to my face. And be careful with it. I probably can't find a new one here.
[But he holds it out once he finds it. Ta-da! One working MP3 player! It's not a new model; it's well-loved, let's say. The majority of what's on it is not Mozart, but there is a playlist of classical piano on there, and it is mostly Mozart. The rest is modern music from several different countries, with an emphasis on rock.]
no subject
[ Woah, Kadoc it's just an mp3 player, not your diary. Though, Crow would understand the anxiety if someone was looking over the lyrics over a new, unfinished song or even handling his precious guitar.
He holds out his hands to take the device from Kadoc. He handles it with care. Even if he can be an idiot, he knows this isn't something he should fool around with. He offers his CD to the other, it's pretty basic with a cheap CD case and an obvious printer copied picture of his band's logo. They haven't hit it big yet.]
Don't worry, I'll be real careful with it! It's the same for my CD. There's only one copy here!
[He should probably figure out how to make copies soon, so he can sell them at his future performances. Though, Kadoc should feel lucky to have exclusive access to his content.]
I think three days is a good timeframe. We can meet up to make the swap again.
no subject
Maybe he could use his light magic to do it. That's a wild thought, but not an impossible one.]
Yeah. Sounds good. I'll take care of it. . . . Thanks.
no subject
When Kadoc takes his CD, Crow does feel a sense of pride. He hopes the man enjoys it because unlike his solo performance at the concert, he gets to hear Crow with his very talented bandmates.]
Make sure to listen to each song 69 times, okay?! And I want to hear what you think about each one of them!
[Why 69 times? Well, that's the number for Rock, why else?! Crow grins as he pats the silver-haired adventurer, unbeknownst to the amount of pressure he put on him. The singer takes out his phone from his pocket, and starts pulling up his contacts.]
Give me your info, so we can figure out the best time to meet! You like to eat, right? Of course, you do! We can grab lunch!
[Stop him, because this guy gets carried away!]
no subject
. . . Why 69?
[Nice. No, not nice! Does he even want to hear the answer? Doesn't he already have a suspicion? But he can't help himself in asking. And when he gets to his own profile, he holds his phone up to show his number so Crow can add it. This is happening no matter how eccentric it is!]
no subject
[Eccentric is one way to put it. As he records Kadoc’s number into his phone, he makes a face as if the question is a little silly. Isn’t the number 69 recognizable to people of other worlds at least?]
Of course, it stands for Rock! As in Rokku, Ro stands for 6 and ku is 9!
[ Sadly, this is not very well-known, but the people of his world is quite obsessed with this number. Crow is pretty innocent to the idea that this number has other connotations.]
Anyway, what do you like to eat? I can find a place to your tastes.
no subject
[Kadoc is not fluent in Japanese, but he knows enough to count to ten and recognizes the numbers—huh. Now he just has to wonder if this is a thing back in his world too, and if so, how many international social media misunderstandings have happened because of the two slang uses . . . aaaaanyway. Not exactly the most important part of this conversation! Though at least thinking about it distracts him from his confused embarrassment.]
Whatever. I'm not a big eater, so you can pick what you like. I don't think about food that much. It's been a little annoying having to keep on top of it now that I'm here.
no subject
However, with that in mind, Crow decides something small would probably be best. It doesn't make sense to bring Kadoc to a place that serves a whole smorgasbord. Such a shame!]
Do I need to check in on you to make sure you're eating properly?
[He doesn't know this guy well, but feels an odd sense of obligation to look after him.]
Anyway, we can just do coffee, then! I actually started to work as a barista, so I can make you a mean latte!
no subject
[A lot of people do that to him, for some mysterious reason that surely has nothing at all to do with the fact that every aspect of his personality and appearance screams that he needs a little brotherly guidance. It couldn't be that!]
Coffee's fine. I'm a fan. You have a barista job here? . . . This place feels a little crazier every day.
[It's Camelot. It is Camelot, right? What do they have, SirTorBucks?]
no subject
Though it's weird to be in their shoes now. He frowns at the comment, not wanting to seem overbearing at all. Yet, this guy should take better care of himself! Look at those bags under his eyes, Crow knows that's not eyeliner!]
Well, you're an adult. You can handle yourself, right? Make sure you're at least getting your calcium!
[Why calcium? Anyway, Crow is pleased to speak about his job, but what was the name again? It has a pretty ordinary-sounding name. So lame, Crow can't even bother to remember the name of where he works. He'll have to ask Kaji...again! Though the singer does know the location, he quickly sends it over to Kadoc's phone.]
Yeah. It's pretty modern, right? I guess it's the influence of the internet or not being affected by time, maybe a bit of both! Though, it helps with adjusting. I couldn't survive long in a world without electricity.
[ Of course, Crow is accustomed to modern luxuries!]
no subject
[That world without music other than one piano didn't have modern luxuries like electricity either. It had been the least of Kadoc's concerns at the time, and he's well equipped to living without amenities, even outdoors if need be . . . and yet he still winces now thinking about those months. He doesn't have to like being deprived!]
Anyway. I'll stop by so we can make the exchange, and you can show off your magical modern Camelot barista skills. . . . I'm looking forward to it, even though that was pretty rude. Don't mind me. I'm still working on getting over this whole situation.
no subject
[Oh was he being sarcastic? Too bad Crow's too vain to notice it right away. Plus, he's been insulted way worse, and he tends to react to those blatant comments more directly.]
It's not the first time I've heard such blasphemous words from a nonbeliever! Though my barista skills will be extraordinary! It's gonna knock your socks off!
[If anything the singer is confident even though he did raise an eyebrow at a coffee shop in Camelot himself. He tilts his head as Kadoc mentions he's still adjusting. Crow doesn't know what kind of the world this serious guy left behind, but there are worse outcomes than this!]
I get it, it's a lot to accept. Sometimes, my mind is still blown that I'm even here, but you gotta just roll with it. It won't help you to dwell on things you can't change. Just focus on what you can do now and throw yourself into a whole bunch of distractions!
[Sound advice from someone enduring their own sense of denial.]
