Let’s make this day the best in the world | Valentine's Day Concert

Backstage

Backstage was a busy place during the whole concert. There were people getting ready, people helping people get ready and even just friends visiting them to wish them good luck (or to break a leg) or just help relieve some of the stage fright. Each artist or group had access to a room of their own if they needed some alone time. All they had to do was put up a sign that the room was in use.

On the stage

The theater stage was decorated with appropriate Valentine's Day decorations - roses, hearts and other simple, but meaningful things. The curtain would come down whenever someone needed time to prepare the stage to look different and there were several talented musicians helping out to bring live music to the stage.

As they say, they stage is for the performers to take as their own, one or several at a time.

In the audience

The audience has seatings for those who desire it, but there is also a space for anyone to stand and dance. There's plenty of space even if there is a section of the audience sectioned off for a... pool? Why was there a pool in the theater? Well, it certainly wasn't for just anyone to casually swim in but instead it was reserved for a special guest making an appearance at the concert.

The Lady of the Lake had been invited by Ren to watch the concert. To be fair, he had also invited King Arthur, Merlin and the Lady Morganna, but only the Lady of the Lake had accepted the invitation (although looking at Merlin's instagram afterwards may prove different, as he was there but just under a disguise).

Snacks and beverages are also being served at the theater lobby. Of course, since it was Valentine's Day, there was plenty of chocolate to go around.

After-party

While the after-party was mostly aimed at performers to celebrate a successful concert, no one was turned away from it. Anyone wanting to visit the party to congratulate on the success or to just chat with the performers was definitely welcome to.

The party was hosted at the theater too, since why not use the space you needed to clean up the next day anyway. Anyone was also welcome to join the clean up process the next day as well, but Ren certainly wouldn't force anyone to help out.

[Hurt him? Nah! He might look small, but Crow can actually take a punch and has taken a few strikes to head on the regular. It's the only way his bandmates can beat some sense into him.

His tail sways with curiosity as Crow eyes the stranger, he certainly is a big guy! Still, the singer isn't intimidated though. ]

Don't worry I can take it. Just as long as you don't hit my face, I'm about to go on stage and I don't want a nosebleed.

[The red he wants on stage is his clothes, his guitar, and the props. Though, this guy catches on pretty well.]

Yeah, I got the shakes! So, I just need something to rile me up! Still wanna help me out?

[ Yeah and fish poop and people trying to send their loves ones off on a pyre over the water and... she lets it go. ]

Anyone with my original name can summon me, and you seem like the kind of guy who'd start handing it out to everyone for no other reason than to push buttons.

[ Just based on their brief conversation so far, pushing buttons seems to be his favorite hobby. ]

You don't have to be a threat to do that.

[Darin watches the display with rapt attention. Honestly, if he could physically have stars in his eyes, he would have them. It was a very engaging way to explain why they were brought here! However, while this answered a number of his questions, it did raise some newer, concerning ones.]

[This information about 'The Three Sisters' warranted looking into but the familiars piqued his interest even more.]

Wait, so the familiars are the ones choosing? Are they all from Avalon?

[Then, something dawns on him.]

It sounds like they all need different things in a partner they bond with. ...What if the thing that draws them to their partner is...a bad thing? Something dangerous?

[ Yeah, he loves buttons, the brighter red the better. Karma has to laugh at her assessment, though, because it's half true and half isn't. ]

Aw, I wouldn't do that! With how much power wielding your name is, I'd be stupid not to at least monetize that!

[ Crow is more than happy to answer the question! He's been told that calling his fans/audience cattle won't smooth over well or will make him less popular, but he has stuck with this term because it's dear to his heart.]

Oh? You're interested in the true meaning of that phrase, huh? Does that mean you've been converted into a crimson soul?

[ Crow comes off as smug as he tries to address Kadoc's question. After all, he did coin the phrase, so he's giving himself a pat on the back.]

Well, I call the audience, cattle, because they are. They live day by day in a stagnant world where they work to live. They continue a tiresome routine of which there's no escape because of societal obligations and expectations. It's very much like cows within a herd, being milked dry until they're discarded, and sent to slaughter. With my music, I want to encourage people to leave the cretinous herd behind and pursue a more fulfilling life.

[Although, that's only one side of the story, at least, the meaning he tells his fans. The more Kadoc gets to know Crow, he'll learn he was raised on a dairy farm.]

So did you enjoy the show?

[A. Backstage]

[Haruki had been looking forward to doing a live performance since Ren announced it. He talked about it with Akihiko from the stage to what songs they might perform to the other performers who would be there. Normally, he would have pre-show jitters, running around making sure that everything would be in place. This time he felt more pumped than nervous. He couldn't wait to perform with the other again. When Haruki made it backstage with his guitar he looked for a place he could practice for a bit while he waited for his other band mates. He hummed along to the tune as he looked around.]

Hmm, I hope they didn't get lost.

[This was far from home after all.]

[B. After Party]

[Haruki was wired after the performance. He was so happy to perform again that he looked forward to seeing how the after party would be like in a different world. It's been awhile since he had to navigate an after party. It would be different since Take-chan wouldn't be running up to him to congratulate him about the show or talking to people from the industry who was interested in seeing another performance. He grabbed some food before he walked around the after party seeing all the different performers that went on stage before and after them. He loved being able to see the different type of music on stage. Everyone did such a great job! Haruki snacked on a few things while he looked around for his band mates.

No. Familiars usually have at least a toe in the spiritual realm. It's much easier to travel here from there as it exists outside of the flow of time to begin with.

[ She's just playing with the water now, forming a tiny 1-foot whirlpool in front of her. ]

No one actually benefits from the death of the entire multiverse, it's a risk worth taking. There's a very good chance at least some of the people here are very, very bad by your standards.

[ She laughs too though. She hums under her breath after, though. ]

There's no reason for Aurora to feel shy. She did so great on stage, and Crow is anxious to congratulate her. So when the blonde steps over to grab something to drink, the redhead uses this opportunity to approach her.

When she reaches for a bottle of water, Crow clumsily knocks into her hand as he goes for something else. "My bad! Go for it!"

Now that he's in front of her, he decides to burst out. "I didn't catch your name, but you've got a set of pipes on you! I loved hearing your voice! It was almost like hearing a bird sing!"

[ Money is power! And Karma so does love having the upper hand in whatever situation he finds himself in. ]

Who am I to turn you down? Lay 'em on me.

Doesn't that concern you though? I mean...if someone comes through and grows powerful enough...

This is the last bastion of...everything...isn't it? We're here to help the multiverse? Aren't you guys...worried?

The first is: when hypnotizing someone, if they are aware you're compelling them, they can fulfill the order by any means that fits the word of the hypnosis even if they can't resist it. Say exactly what you want and even someone more experienced could have trouble.

[ Is it obvious she likes him yet? Despite that he's trying to push her buttons, she's actually the playful sort. Telling him this sounds like fun. ]

[It's a true enough sentiment. But, in Darin's case, he knows he's the villain of his. And being here...even technically de-powered, there's still the looming thread of Diomuhr. Was he still in his body in its de-powered state? Or did his familiar seek him out because of the power he carried?]

[Regardless, he'd be a fool to divulge this to his companion at the moment. So, he does what he does best. He puts on a mask and tries to fit in with a world that would be better off without him.]

[Somehow through the grapevine Crow heard it was Ren's birthday. He wonders why he didn't say anything. Crow doesn't have a gift to give him, but he still appreciates his help a few days prior.

He'll make it up to him later! Still, he approaches the idol to congratulate him on putting on a great show.]

You were great! I didn't know you had such a sultry voice!

[He smirks as he lightly punches at his shoulder.]

And why didn't you tell anyone?! Happy Birthday!! Thank you for putting this altogether too!

Sure, there should be plenty of other chances for you to get back on stage.

[ Avalon seemed to like it, and to have plenty of people interested in performing too. ]

So do you do all the work? Write the songs, do the choreography, and everything?

[ Luckily, Ichiban is just dumb enough to agree to this. Honestly, if he was feeling nervous before a performance he would probably ask for exactly the same stupid thing.]

You're sure? Alright!

[ He meets his fist with his palm in front of his own chest. He looks intimidating for a whole half a second, like maybe he really is a yakuza! But then his grin softens into something more akin to that of an excitable child. ]

Get ready!

[ Get pumped up scrub, because Ichiban is here for you with a truly motivating punch! ]

I—yeah. I did, actually. You're really talented.

[All of that just kind of spills out. It's the truth, after all. He may not have said it so simply or bluntly if he weren't just kind of reacting to the last thing said while the rest of his brain processes the bit before it . . . well, he had wanted to compliment this guy, though. That was part of the reason he'd decided to come initially, even if he'd later internally chickened out of making the first conversational move.

And now he has. Mission accomplished! But also, now he's got all that to think about too. It's hard not to smile a little, tiny and dry, at the detailed response. Makes sense that someone who would just casually throw out phrasing like that at his audience onstage would also have some strong feelings about it, and be willing to discuss them.

It's not even like he's wrong. . . . All the crimson soul conversion chatter aside. Kadoc does not know the term chuuni, and that is a shame.]

It's actually the first modern-sounding music I've gotten to listen to live in a really long time. . . . You could say I was living day by day in a stagnant world where people worked to live.

[His humor is dry, so dry. He barely even smiles. But it's funny because it's true.]

[Crow catches Stella at the food table while she's trying to replenish her energy. He's was pretty energetic, but to sing and do choreography at the same time? He'd be dead too! Idols really have it harder than he thought!]

Woah, leave some for the rest of us!

[He's just teasing her. He playfully pats Stella on top of her head.]

You did great! I liked your song too, it was so sugary and sparkly, I'm sure I have a toothache now!

[ This is another person who has surprised Crow with their voice. Wow, where have all these people been hiding?! He approaches Nyuu while she's feeding her feathered friends to praise her.]

Hey! You got some pipes on you! I was really impressed with your voice!

[He takes notice of the ears on her head and wonders if she's similar to him. His tail sways curiously as spot any more animal traits.]

You have ears too! Are you myumon?

[Crow doesn't think he's seen her in Midi City.]

[Crow doesn't really know much about other instruments besides the guitar, but he thought Maribelle's performance was beautiful. He walks over to the blonde to applaud her musical skills.]

That was great! I was really moved by your playing. Although...

[And here's where he messes up his compliment.]

...that monologue in the beginning nearly put me to sleep! Maybe you should shorten it next time.

[Two idiots don't make a right! Whatever! People shouldn't overthink things and go with the flow! Which Ichiban seems to be doing just that by accepting Crow's request. He watches as this guy seems a little too happy to punch someone, but it manages to get a chuckle out of Crow.]

I'm ready! Let's go!

[Crow braces himself for the energizing fist that's bound to hurt...a lot, but he needs the adrenaline rush!]

[ A compliment is a compliment! Crow will radiate from it, all the same, his ego getting even more inflated. It doesn't help that Kadoc decides to quote him. He must've truly made an impression on this budding flame. The redhead can't help but grin at the joke.]

I mean aren't we all apart of a world like that? And now we're here!

[He's not sure if their situation is better or worse, but Crow wants to think positively until proven otherwise.]

But you said this is your first modern-sounding music? What have you been listening to before?

[Maybe this guy is coming from one of those ancient, medieval timelines where technology isn't as advanced.]

[Crow is in his dressing room going over his lyrics and music again. The songs he's chosen, he knows like the back of his hand, but it helps him to concentrate on something to stave off nervousness. Though he does hear Uenoyama practicing from outside the door, and he sounds really skilled. Crow is a guitarist too, but he's not quite as adept as his bandmate Aion. He'll never admit it though.

He peeks outside of his door to see Uenoyama looking a bit confused. He must have been so engrossed in his playing, he didn't realize his surroundings. Anyway, Crow needs a distraction, so he's fine helping this guy out.]

Don't you have a dressing room? Maybe they're hanging out there?
