NOTICE: This event is taking place during the summer solstice, meaning that the solstice rituals are not complete and the sky has been turned to night 24/7 until the July TDM. There is no sun or moon. There is, however, dim light from the calamity that is providing an eerie, dusky atmosphere.

 

CONTENT WARNINGS:

• There really aren't any this time! What a gentle event. (?)

With the tournament resolved, the plan is simple: The five tournament winners and Queen Elphame will be casting a spell from various corners of Avalon to launch the Fisher King and his curse into the center of the Calamity. Characters will be performing synchronic magic, lead by the winners of the tournament, to send the body of the Fisher King (soul removed thanks to a band of death mages, so the Fisher King is not suffering) through frozen time using a powerful magic canon spell that would obliterate any living body that could die by forcing it through frozen time. While it will not immediately solve the problem, the Fisher King's curse should slowly tick away at Excalibur's spirit, degrading it over time and decreasing the strength of the explosion. After having enough time for the Fisher King's curse to tick away at it, it will require less of Morganna and Avalon's magic to still time, which will eventually allow everyone to send a party to retrieve the weakened sword and depower the Calamity. That's the plan anyway. Whether or not it succeeds will depend on missions in the coming months preparing for that moment... starting with performing the ritual to launch the Fisher King into the Calamity. Once your character picks a group, the Fairy Queen will be providing all those who participate with their very own flying mounts based on the location/missions they choose to go to. Feel free to play out meeting and greeting mounts (which you will be given a pendant to summon at any time after this event), performing the ritual, camping overnight until everyone's timed up during the witching hour, or dealing with obstacles located in your group's location. Additionally, because resources are being diverted away from performing the summer solstice, the sun and moon are thrown out of cycle, plunging Avalon into a temporarily eternal night-- an effect which is causing a huge upset with a special kind of microscopic fairy that's randomly teleporting people to other locations-- which means you can really thread with anyone you want, even if you're in the wrong group, and will need to find a way to get back to your group before the witching hour! Separate into groups lead by the following characters/locations: Mamori Minamoto - Merlin's Step at The Brocéliande MOUNT: Gryphon - These majestic creatures are beings with the body, tail, and back legs of a lion and the head, front talons, and wings of an eagle. They are powerful guards who will always have your back, and fierce warriors. As a species, they tend to be a little condescending after being treated as deity guardians and placed on Family Crests since ancient times. Note that they mate for life, and your gryphon's mate may or may not be bonded with another character yours doesn't get along with... and you're going to have to find a way to make it work, because love is the most powerful magic in the world-- and they're not choosing you over it. Xue Yang - The Ruins of Celliwig's Diamond Falls MOUNT: Arkan Sonney - A white pig with the wings of the fairy. They're said to be very lucky, and can carry ten times their weight. It can alter its size, so when not being ridden, it can change into a piglet-- if it chooses to. They have quite stubborn personalities and do not like to be chased, so it's best to approach with manners and ask permission to approach. Those who partner with Arkan Sonneys tend to come into money more easily by sheer luck. Rei Amayado - Malous in the Unnamed Marshes MOUNT: Impundulu - A black and white bird the size of a person which can summon thunder and lightning with its wings and talons. It has an insatiable appetite for blood and has the ability to take the form of a beautiful young man with a seductive nature, allowing it to get close to victims for its vampiric ways. They will form bonds with sorcerers and tend to target their enemies for food whenever they can. They do not need to kill their victims when feeding, but sometimes choose to. When they summon lightning, they lay eggs 6 feet under the spot the lightning strikes. The eggs can only be fertilized if they are doused with blood. The Impundulu can only be destroyed with blue fire and are immortal. Some people say eating the egg of the Impundulu is how the original vampires were born... but as far as we can tell, it just gives them a good reason to eat you before you find out. Zidane Tribal - Lotus Pod Mountain (2nd Ash Mountain) MOUNT: Harpy - Harpies are women with wings attached to their arms and the bottoms are birds of prey. These beautiful bird-women are not going to let you ride them, so "mount" is perhaps a bit of a misnomer here.. but they will carry you by your shoulders with their talons to your destination. (Or if you manage to get friendly with them, they may offer to let you hug them, but you're not riding them.) Piss them off and they'll steal your food and make you watch them eat it. Do wrong, and they will happily change course and dump you in prison. They would be ideal for those with a strong sense of justice. Caster - The End of the World MOUNT: Pegasus - Descendants of the original Pegasus, these pegasi come in a variety of colors and patterns at your choice. When they get excited and stamp their feet on the ground, water can start rising from the ground where they dance. They can be quite playful besides that, and are easily the easiest of the mounts to form a long-term bond with. Pegasuses can navigate at night without guidance, following the stars where the original was transformed into a constellation by Zeus. This effect is increased when star magic is possible, but not right now. *Note: Leaders may change mounts at the end of the event. As thanks, Queen Elphame will make it so. Statues of the tournament winners will also be constructed around the entryway of Elphame, as the Otherworld Heroes of Avalon, and protected by fairy magic. Immortalized, baby. Now then! What of the ritual itself? There are three roles you can take to do your part: 1. Teleporting Micro Fairies: Chase the micro fairies around whatever area you're in to try to capture them. These fairies can be captured with a bit of arts and crafts magic! That is, you'll need to make a terrarium in a mason jar. Go around your location collecting local flora and fauna to create an environment and lure the fairies in by placing small pieces of cake in it. Once they're in, which you'll see by the cake slowly disappearing, close the mason jar and use any magic spell over it and they'll be temporarily trapped. This will help protect those performing the ritual from suddenly ending up somewhere they shouldn't! 2. Synchronic Magic: Find a partner to perform Synchronic Magic with, which will then funnel through the group's leader, who is performing a ritual involving a circle, burning herbs and shaking a magic gourd, and jumping in and out of the circle. (It is not the hokey pokey, but it looks a little like it.) Don't forget that synchronic magic requires trust, so you may want to find a way to open up to your partner if you don't know them yet.. or else things could definitely go haywire-- including accidental temporary body swaps, magically gluing yourselves to your partner, or accidentally temporarily changing your canon point mentally (lasts for about a day). 3. Protect the Circle: You're in a potentially dangerous location. Someone needs to be at the borders combatting enemies who live in the area your team is! Team up with others to fight off enemies known to frequent locations, including any creatures that have been previously found at that location in past events. The bestiary has a good number of ideas (though is a little outdated, so if a creature existed in an event, TDM, or quest after that that you want you use, feel free! We'll be working on getting the bestiary back up to date this month.)

A 🐇 before the ritual: statues

[ She'd seen the statue in Kate's network post - watched how she had to step back and tilt her camera just to see the tops - but actually being next to hers is a whole different story.

It's humbling, really. As a warrior and entertainer, she knows she's just getting started. She's enough to protect her friends, and enough to be the host of her own show back home with numerous opportunities waiting for her, but she can grow older still. Stronger and wiser.

She's in her kimono today, rather than the bunny armor depicted in the statue, but anyone with a keen eye can dissern that she's one of the tournament champions. Enough of her head's visible within her statue's helmet to make the connection. But she's not by her statue the entire time - she wanders to the others as well, peering up at them curious, wondering what kind of people have been immortalized alongside her. ]

B 🐇 before the ritual: gathering

[ As she stands among those who've decided to follow her to The Brocéliande, a map of the lands in hand so she doesn't get lost along the way, she wonders what Itsuki or Maiko would say in a moment like this. She can imagine a rousing speech in either of their voices - something worthy of the Lord of their group, or the president of a company - but her own? Not so much. She's only started getting better at speaking up in general. A rallying call is a bit beyond her.

So instead, she's approaching people individually and bowing. ... or, at least, as far as the armor will let her bow. ] Thank you for coming with me. I'll be counting on you!

C 🐇 before the ritual: the brocéliande

[ i (teleporting micro fairies). She had to admit, she didn't expect a ritual of this importance to be so fun. But there's a youthful smile on her face as she trudges around in her armor, picking flowers for her mason jar with (almost hilariously) dissonant delicacy.

She's in the middle of wondering what to grab next when she spots a mushroom in a tree beside her. ] Oh! [ ... but, unfortunately, it's just sliiiiightly out of reach for the 4'10" hero. Lend her a hand? ]


[ ii (pep talk). Logically, she should be taking it easy, right? She'll need her strength up for the ritual to come. But as she stands off to the side, wringing her hands together with her bunny axe and familiar with her, she can't help but feel uneasy from her own idleness. Perhaps she just needs some company?

If you're lucky (?), you might even catch her at the tail end of receiving a pep talk from a deep voice. ] ... You have all that you need to succeed, Master. You only need to believe in yourself, and trust in your allies.

... Mm! You're right. Thank you, Draug-san. [ It's sweet! ... except her familiar's mouth didn't move at all during that entire exchange. How strange. ]

D 🐇 after the ritual: warming the heart

[ If she's honest, she's feeling rather tired. Between hopping around in a kimono (thankfully, she'd opted to take off the armor once sure the defenses were secure enough), funneling massive amounts of magic through her, and the after-effects of the adrenaline that'd coursed through her up until now, she's going to sleep well tonight.

But first, her attention turns to you - a nearby ally, perhaps injured. ] Are you okay? Do you need any healing?

[ She can't say she's ever been on a mount before. Those were Tsubasa and Touma's roles, as the Pegasus Knight and Cavalier respectively. So it's honestly a little daunting to be standing next to a gryphon significantly bigger than her, even while she's in her armor, and be expected to lead a group to a destination she's only seen on a map. B-but she won't be deterred! If she treats the gryphon kindly, it'll like her, just like a pet... right?

Well, for the most part. But there's just one problem. ]

P- please wait!! [ ... and that is that her gryphon's mate happens to be among the group gathered. And hers is making a beeline to said mate - and the innocent woman nearby.

( Rosa is no fighter. If anything, her first reaction to all of this is yeet, to scarper and hide until danger has passed. But things need doing, and there are non-combat things! Which is good, because haha, no. Her fighting skills max out on video games with her siblings.

And it all went pretty good: she helped catch some fairies, healed a few people (she's gotten better at that!) and generally stayed out of trouble... right up until the last moment, when a quick healing turns south with the appearance of some sort of Avalonian beast she hasn't got a name for, and a claw catches the back of her leg while she escapes.

Dang it. There's blue everywhere. Including over her light denim jeans, which now look like a fountain pen's exploded all down her calf. It should heal itself soon, right? Ugh, she hopes so. She can probably just pass the stain off as ink if anyone asks, but she needs the actual bleeding to stop.

Which it doesn't. And when Mamori approaches, Rosa grimaces, trying and failing to smile. )

U-uh. I'm... I'm good. Just tired!

[Hijikata just got teleported in here. Despite having been briefed about the microscopic fairies and their ire he's really confused for a moment, but when he sees some familiar faces among the average-sized trees (as opposed to the enormous ones that occur in the larger, more dangerous forests) he realises that he was transported to the Brocéliande group. As he spots Mamori straining for the mushroom in her distinctive armour he walks over and plucks it for her.]

Here. You're the group leader, aren't you? I just got dropped here by those pissed-- by those little angry fairies - just so you know I'm not an intruder. I've got no idea if they'll teleport me back or what, so I'll make myself useful here for now. Where do you guys need backup?

Pre-Event

A. Free-For-All Tourney Results

[The citywide free for all brawl went on for several hours, given the scale of the city and the skill of the participants. When the fey showrunners call for the end of the round and for participants to return to the tournament starting zone, Rei mostly assumed they were going to tally up the remaining players' "kills" to determine a winner-- not that he was the last man standing.

Reaching the stage area and being showered with a burst of confetti is almost as much of a surprise to him as to anyone else.]

What, really? I knew I was good, but come on.

[Rei looks a little ragged, but only a little-- it's only from extended magic use. He's otherwise completely unharmed, clutching his phone he'd been tracking other players with and looking around with a bemused grin at the hubbub.

The players he'd defeated and then used as meat shields against other comers, though... they look Slightly Worse.]

B. Audience with the Queen (closed to other tournament winners)

[Speaking with the Queen herself is a pretty meaningful, special privilege! Wow, the Big Fairy Queen Boss Lady herself!

But mostly their audience with her was a stiff explanation of the plan, with a few questions allowed. It's not until they're out of the meeting chamber that Rei stretches his arms over his head, chuckling to himself.]

This is pretty serious and all, but I still kinda want to laugh.

C. Statues lol

[After Kate posted on the network about it, Rei schlepped his way back over to Nicnevin to check out the tournament statues in person. He's standing in front of the thing, hand on his chin, studying it. It... is pretty over the top.

Rei's figure statue is at the back of the lineup, given his height. His pose is wide and heroic, expression rakish and stone-fabrics frozen in an artistically fluttering position. Despite not having worn it during the tournament his classic fur coat is featured on his shoulders, its overbearing size giving the entire display setup a nice endcap.]

Hmm.

[Also the statue titties look great. The fey sculptor unbuttoned his shirt like two whole more buttons than usual.]

During Event

D. Mount Meet&Greet- Impundulu

[ALL RIGHT MALOUS GOERS, LET'S GET THIS MOUNT!!!!!! The Impundulu! A huge, imposing, bloodthirsty bird creature!! It's pretty cool, and pretty terrifying, to work with one. Hopefully none of the otherworlders gathering to ride them become blood bags.

For all of that danger that the giant birds waiting to be mounted present, though, Rei seems to be preoccupied with a different kind of danger. Rei's familiar, a peacock-sized hou-ou, is sitting in a nearby tree turned away from him.]

Come on, sweetheart. [His voice is both placating and exasperated. His impundulu watches them both from further away, expressionless.] You know you're not being replaced. You don't gotta throw a fit over it....

E.Wildcard

[you know the drill!! As a group leader Rei is mostly preoccupied with his primary section of the ritual, so he's not available to do synchronic magic with, but he can react to Your character being affected by spell issues, etc. Malous hating, flying on the mounts... anything! ( The world is a pinprick below them. Not that it's close to the first time Kate's been in the air here, but these mounts can go a lot higher than she does when flying. Which is probably a good thing, looking at some of the territory they're currently passing over.

(She'd quite like to never end up in that particular forest again, she notes, as the formation soars just past a particularly dense knot of trees.)

A quick bit of urging, which her mount squawks over, and she's pulled herself a bit further ahead, appearing at Rei's side with her typical unimpressed look. )

Had to go and win, didn't you?

( She has the same complaint for Medea, but Medea is off in another direction. Clearly this was a plot to drag her into this whole thing when she was quite happy embracing the likelihood of multiversal oblivion. )

[ It's been a whirlwind of a day - of a month, really - and it's only once they're out of the meeting chambers that Mamori feels like she can breathe normally. This wouldn't be the first time she's been thrust into a giant world-saving ritual with an important role to play, but at least the other time had some build-up...!! But it's fine, right? Her friends aren't here, but she isn't entirely alone. There's four people standing alongside her right now.

... And one of them is laughing? She tilts her head, genuinely confused. ] Why's that?

[Their mounts sure are huge and menacing. Ren's gonna stick near Rei for this just to be safe. He wouldn't want to end up as a free meal.]

You have nothing to be jealous about. You're still the most gorgeous bird around here.

[He keeps his voice loud so he doesn't insult the Impundulu, but he's at least trying to soothe Rei's familiar a little.]

[It isn't long before one of the other tournament winners emerges- slipping her way out the shadows to observe the statues in person.

It really...was a little over the top, wasn't it?]

[Of course, she noticed Rei admiring his own statue nearby. That man had a surprisingly relaxed attitude about this.]

I. Winner? - Ride to Lotus Pod Mountain

[Of course he was stoked on winning one of the Faerie Queen's tournaments - Moguo and him did great navigating the maze together. And now, apparently, he gets to help get rid of the cursed Fisher King's body. Alright, he's on board; seems like the guy's been nothing but a problem in death.]

[... The Queen's gotta be messing with him.]

[Whoever intends on heading with him to the Mountains would find their 'mounts' arriving. Part of him just... old habits die hard, but another - actually strong-arming him part - makes him just stare and then raise a hand in greeting.]

Hey! So... how you want this to work?

[Because this was a bird woman... and not in the way he was used to. Oh boy...]

II. Trouble - Teleporting Micro-Fairies

[This seemed like a problem that could be addressed if the Faerie Queen just asked her subjects to not teleport people? But given her track record, she wasn't about to start doing that. At least there's a way to stop the very small faeries from causing trouble.]

[It's like building snow vacation homes again, but in small jars and using some bugs and plants to help. Is this delaying his part in the ritual? Yes, but should he help make a few jars? Also yes!]

Done! Ready for cake!

III. Trouble - Protect the Circle

[There's an advantage of having been to the Mountain before with Eustace and Somnus, and that was knowing some of the creatures that would be around. Goblins, Cave Lizards, Diaños, those ones weren't really a problem - they just liked mischief and taking food. Bugbears would be the bigger problem should they come wandering out of the caves.]

Keep close to your harpies too. Ya don't want to find a Diaños mimicking them...

[Or maybe they did... the harpies might not appreciate that and deal with the issue themselves. Oh well, the area should be secure...]

[Of course Jean's following Zidane... and not expecting to see harpies as their mounts of choice. Really? He's read about them a little bit. Not enough to know exactly how to interact with them, but Jean knows being careful with any mythical creatures is crucial.]

[So that was Zidane...she'd met him once, about a year ago, so she only vaguely recognised him. Still, Jean trusted him a lot, and Hijikata seemed to know him, so she was happy to trust him.

So after giving a confused side-eye to the harpies, she went over to him.]

[Okay, so the flight with the harpies may have been a bit stressful, but they have a good team assembled here, and the terrain could be worse - Hijikata didn't feel terribly inclined to revisit the Undead Marshes or see the End of the World! At Zidane's warning he perks up.]

A diaños? What's that?

[The harpy that carried him here snickers unabashedly.]

You've been here twice and yet you don't know? It is a wonder that you're still alive! Good thing I'm here to protect you now!

[He ignores her input, but his eyebrow sure is twitching...]

[ Perhaps Zidane should be focusing on the ritual, rather than a task that literally any of them can do. And Tsumugi will remind him of that soon enough, should he need it. But that doesn't mean he's not grateful for his help!

Especially when his harpy is reluctant to let him wander more than a few feet away in any direction. Even with his green magic (which he's trying not to rely on, to preserve his strength for the synchronic magic itself), there's only so much he can do when he has to stay within wing's reach of a strangely protective creature.

He smiles, ] Thank you, Zidane-kun. [ and begins tearing pieces of the cake he brought (perks of owning a cafe!) for the jars. ] I'm sorry to trouble you with that. [ But his harpy's sure just Right There, Staring, trying to determine through looks alone if Zidane can be trusted with her newly adopted baby chick.

(so who's gonna break it to her that tsumugi is not a baby harpy, but a grown ass human adult? ... no one?) ]

Oh, I'm quite certain she can handle herself.

[Baldr himself seems quite relaxed, but he's got his hand resting on the hilts of his swords just in case. It's pretty much a given that at least something is going to try to stick its nose in where it doesn't belong where the ritual is concerned.]

Have you taken a good look at their talons? I certainly wouldn't want to end up on the other end of those.

1) Tournament Winners

[When Emet-Selch gathered a handful of death mages to exorcise the Fisher King's soul Hijikata forfeited the tournament battles he was looking forward to without hesitation. He's come to take his duty to the dead really seriously, not least due to his death mage peers' influence! The last time this many death mages were needed it was almost a year ago when they were up against the spectres from the Forest of the Felled, so for one single man to cause this much trouble is truly remarkable, but after everything the Fisher King explained to them Hijikata's ire towards him largely dissipated, and now, with the king's ghost remaining Queen Elphame's guest until the autumn equinox, it's entirely gone.

When the tournament winners are eventually announced and their statues unveiled - Hijikata wonders how they could be built this fast, but the answer is probably 'magic' - he inspects them in wonder. He doesn't recognise the child in the heavy armour, and while he's seen Xue Yang on AOL he never met him in person - he must have done a remarkable job to come out on top of the duels, and Hijikata wishes he could have watched one. The other winners are people he knows. In front of Zidane's statue he smiles a little - the young lord and his township were his closest neighbours when he lived in the Forest of the Felled during the cold season, and the lights on the other side of the bridge were always comforting. Rei and Caster, finally, get some remarks...]

Of course the witch won the potion challenge! Who else cooks up some foul brews day in, day out? And why does it not surprise me that this guy won the free-for-all? What did he do, send curses through everybody's phones?

[Be nice, Hijikata, Rei's technomancy allows you to still use the dark web after getting IP-blocked!]


2) Harpies?!

[When the full ritual plan is unveiled Hijikata is baffled to hear that they're going to launch the Fisher King's cursed corpse into the calamity to weaken Excalibur. So after all his bitching about the king diverting their resources away from dealing with the overall situation he now became a key factor in helping them stop it?! Well, he didn't see that coming!

He looks at the different groups as they assemble. Which one should he join? He doesn't want to go with Caster after everything she did to him (she probably still has compromising photos of him in her possession)! Meanwhile Mamori is naturally a top choice for many; who wouldn't want to protect a young heroine who was brave enough to prove her merit right after being thrown into another world?

Some familiar faces and waving hands eventually make the remaining decision easy for him. He'll go to the mountains under Zidane's leadership! When the group is presented with their "mounts", however, some are a little unsure about whether they made the right choice. One of the harpies confidently marches towards Hijikata.]

You will make a nice workout for me with all your equipment.

Are you sure you can carry me? I'd rather not go splat on the ground when we're finally about to make some progress!

You know nothing about harpies, do you?

I know enough about bird people to not have much confidence in your hollow bones carrying my weight.

[Anyone who looks over at them over the quickly ensuing kerfuffle will see the harpy taking off with strong wingbeats and landing on a nearby branch of the massive tree Nicnevin is built into, a mayonnaise bottle in her hand. She opens and smells it, ignoring Hijikata's yelling on the ground, then wrinkles her nose.]

This is all you have on you? How are you still alive?

You..!! How are you talking about my mayonnaise?! Give it back!

[Great, these two are off to a good start. Are there any mediators nearby?]


3) Ritual

[Eventually everybody in Zidane's group does get flown up the Lotus Pod Mountain. Hijikata has been here before, hunting down the dragon that razed Celliwig... his group was unsuccessful, but it satisfied him when some other outworlders slayed the beast. Today, of course, the mission is very different. He completely foregoes the idea of building small appealing terrarium traps for those annoying microscopic fairies, and he's always been wary of synchronic magic and never tried it before, so he's opting to guard the area. He knows that dragons still live in these mountains, and if one of them felt like attacking the party they'd have a huge problem on their hands!]

Hopefully the local creatures understand that we're trying to do something important here! Those tiny-ass teleporter fairies sure haven't gotten the memo!

Harpies...

[Luckily, Jean was lucky with his new Harpy associate. At first Jean was very unsure about it, but after talking with the harpy they managed to form a start of a friendship... even if sometimes Jean wanted to say a few select words, but he knew better than piss off strange creatures - especially since he was gonna work with them.

He notices Hijikata's not doing as well and approaches him and the harpy trolling (?) him.]

It's probably better if you calm down... arguing won't help build trust between you two.

It's as he's making his assessments that guess who should slip out from the shadows but the evil witch herself, giving him a small, twisted smirk.]

Are you offering to sample one of my concoctions, Hijikata? I'm always looking for people I can test them on.

[Strangely, it lacked the usual energy of her taunts- Caster was still a little overwhelmed by all this, after all.]

This mountain is-...the terrain isn't too bad. Even if our objective is defence rather than offence, this time.

...I can't see any signs of other dragons, but we can't be too careful.

[She too had climbed this very mountain for that purpose, although her group with Jean and Mikasa had managed to actually take the dragon down.

Having realised quite quickly that making terrariums or trying fiddly new magic probably weren't her forte, she too had settled for guarding the circle.]

But, agreed. The fairies are difficult targets.

Protect

[This was bad... Elsa knew how to fight, even if her ability to do so had been largely reduced thanks to losing elemental magic. But dealing with an undead Black Knigth? Yeah this wasn't going to go very well.]

We're just here to do an important ritual... we're not here to harm the place!

[Most Elsa's been doing is evade him with kinetic magic and throwing rocks from a distance which hasn't been working very well but there's not much else you can do before the Knight is dealt with is there.

Or at least she can help distract him.]

Terrariums

[Elsa has a good chunk of different flora in her hands. She's also asked for few smaller animals for possible assistance on the terrarriums, so some tiny mice and birds are following her, also carrying some flora in with them. She leads them back to the ritual site.]

I brought as much as I could for the terrariums... I hope these help. Also these mice and birds agreed to also help if needed.

[At least to help them find more materials, as they carry the ones they're carrying to a rock and go off to find more.]

Gryphon Mates for Izumi

[Elsa has bonded with a Gryphon who has accepted her as a rider. She was now learning how to ride him when suddenly..! The gryphon starts running towards a direction with Elsa still on him.]

Pre-Event

A) Statue of a Hero

[Caster had only just woken up when Kate’s message about the statues went up- at the time it hadn’t entirely sunk in what exactly these meant or represented, not really. She’d originally written it off as the Fae being excessive or premature in their actions, but…

Now she was here, looking up at a beautifully carved statue of herself right at the entrance to Elphame. A statue that, despite depicting her in all of her shadowy splendour, proclaimed her to be an ‘Otherworld Hero of Avalon’.

It was… equal parts jarring and overwhelming.]

This can’t right… me? A hero?

…Haha……

[It wasn’t like her usual evil cackles. It was small, incredulous- Is that honestly how this world saw her, now?]

B) Winners Mingle (semi-closed)

[Caster, of course, had attended the meeting with the Fae Queen in her usual suspicious attire- cloaked in dark robes that covered half her face, and a shadowy aura that constantly clung to her as she moved.

So they were being trusted to lead these rituals, hm? Whilst she was a little frustrated that the Fisher King wasn’t continuing to suffer…

…Caster was always someone who reflected how she was treated. And since being proclaimed a hero. Someone trusted. Part of her desperately wanted to do this right. That was her primary focus now.

Thankfully, magic rituals like this were something she knew she had strength in.]

…The task seems simple enough. Tell me- do you have any experience in such things?

Event Time

C) Meeting Mounts

Hah…this feels as if it should be Rider’s job, rather than mine.

Come, I need your help.

[It was, perhaps, to be expected that the Pegasus who’d caught Caster’s attention was one with a beautiful black coat- flecks of dark blue and purples coming into its mane, tail and almost bat-like wings. And it at least seemed open to working with her. That was a start.

As well as readying her mount, she’ll be greeting those who’ve come to join her on this mission- grateful for those who have her back.]

…I appreciate you joining me. Have you been able to bond with a mount, yet?

[Her familiar is sat on her shoulder- and the house cat sized skeletal dragon will be trying to rush over and climb on anyone she’s close to by way of greeting.]

D) Readying the Ritual

The circle’s almost ready- if anyone needs me to explain Synchronic Magic or needs additional supplies for their terrariums, do let me know.

[She’d done Synchronic magic in the past, after all, and had brought some of her diorama making supplies with her for just this occasion, so hopefully she and her companions had all basis covered.

Caster kept her twisted ritual knife Rulebreaker close by as she thought over what needed to be done. Protecting the circle was her biggest concern, of course- after all, she knew that she’d be taken out quickly if anyone got close to her whilst she was weaving her magic. She nibbled her lip nervously in thought.]

…Perhaps we ought to set some traps.

E) During/After the Ritual

[It was go time. Everything was ready. Caster glanced to the people ready to support her and gave them a nod- under the cover of the night and lit only by the calamity at the end of the world, they were ready.

Then, she took a deep breath, gripped hold of her staff and stepped into the circle.]

O Goddess Hecate- grant me your blessing…!

[And so, it begins…

... ... ...

Once the ritual was all taken care of, it was all she could do not to stagger as she realised the darkness from the magic circle. It was over. It had worked…!

Although she was exhausted, she couldn’t help a smile come into her face.]

…Well. That settles that, doesn't it?
