mingle / the great avalonian... parkour race?
🧙 WHO: Kate and all interested contestants and viewers
⚔️️ WHAT: the great parkour race!
🕒 WHEN: 2/2; 14:00
🗺️ WHERE: off limits parkour gym
⚠️ WARNINGS: nothing but possible use of courage arrows
Off Limits isn't the easiest place to find, tucked away in a side street as it is, but once you find the street, the neon sign is a dead giveaway. And if that still isn't enough, the fact that there are cameras floating around the streets, signposting the route for the race may do it. Step inside the gym itself and Kate — hair pulled up into pigtails, looking cosy in thermal leggings and an orange hoodie — will lead you through the main hall to the outdoor training area if you're competing (after taking your money and making you sign a waiver) or ask if you prefer to sit inside or out to view. In both cases you'll find chairs and a projector system currently broadcasting the route for the race, as run by Off Limit's surly owner.
There are quick explanations of the rules — don't use magic, feel free to use other routes as long as you pass the "checkpoints" the cameras create, don't interfere with other competitors, and anyone who does try to cheat will find themselves shot with some of the enchanted arrows Kate has procured for quest purposes (yes, that's been written in the waiver, hope you read the fine print!). And disqualified. Then a quick reminder that the first, second and third place racers can choose their prize in order of placement (first place gets first pick, etc) and everyone who doesn't place will be given a pack of homemade lavender tea as a thank you for competing.
So, with all that said, get racing!
( OOC: you know how this goes! Make your own top levels, interact freely. If you're competing please comment here and I will RNG the winners on 5/2 - Saturday - to give everyone a few days to comment. )

Rei Amayado | Hypnosis Mic | OTA
before the race
[After hassling Kate about her waiver for fun, Rei mills around the projection area to size up his friendly competition. He's dressed in what would be a normal outfit if the track jacket wasn't the shiniest gold allowed on earth.]Guess a parkour race track is only a suggestion, huh. [He rubs his chin thoughtfully as he watches the screen. It's different from a marathon or a track meet that way...]
??during the race??
[ OLD MAN COMING THROUGH. BEEP BEEPKate has clearly marked the main race parameters so this is probably safe. but Rei WILL leapfrog you and keep going if he has to!!!!!!!!!!]
after the race
[Rei bounds past the finish line in a decent amount of time, hair streaked back form the sweat and wind. HE LIVED!!!Since the race was small enough for each participant to run individually (like some sort of game show...), no winning time has been tallied yet. There's still a while yet before any rankings are announced.
Kate does at least have the grace to have a water and small concession stand up for racers near the finish line, though. Breathing hard, Rei grabs a water bottle, cracks it open, and drains it.]
...Ow.
[He flexes the fingers he just used to unscrew the cap. Guess ya get kinda scraped up when you grab building sides and fences and the like to hop over 'em, huh?]
wildcard
anything else? rei is Around, just hmu!!after the race is before the race, or sth ✨🏃♂️ ✨
Teh! [ Nor the slap on his back now, as Sasara seems to just have materialized beyond the finish line. ]
Look at 'cha. For your age, ya know!! [ Poking his finger into the matter as usual– but he's just so boastful on Rei's behalf. ] Old man, that oughta win a medal to match your suit, ya see!

after the race but also after all the races so wildcard
(JJ, Manslayer, she's looking at you.)
Fortunately for us all, the idea of getting medals was quickly discarded after she saw the cost of them. Rei already has enough gaudy medallions without a bronze medal being added to the pile. instead, he gets the choice between the last two prizes she has. )
Oi. ( why are her hands folded behind her back? don't worry about it. there's definitely not an arrow hidden in them. nah. ) Come pick your prize.

[ Ah, this is actually kind of relaxing! A free for all run without worry of monsters or magic... a good chance for exercise! As such, Della can be seen doing some stretching exercises beforehand, and if she spots anyone just casually standing around... ]
You might wanna loosen up before the showdown! I can teach you a few techniques, if you'd like! It'd be really boring if anyone dropped out early for pulling a hamstring! ... Do humans have hamstrings?
During The Race
[ It turns out that ducks are really light - which means she can jump and hop easily! She laughs freely, loving every single second of this. Even if others pass her or she falls, nothing wipes the smile off of her face. ]
Oh man, I feel twenty years younger! I bet I can make that next jump with my eyes closed!
After The Race
[ Phewwww. That was... a lot. It's a bummer she didn't make first, but hey, fourth isn't shabby! She's still pleased to have landed in such a close place. She can be found sitting on the ground, rubbing right above her prosthetic leg. Her stump is a bit sore after that excessive running, but it'll be fine after some rest. ]
Man, Fenton's gunna give me an ear-full if I broke anything... but! Totally worth it. We totally have to do this again!

Jean Kirstein | Attack on Titan
[Jean's doing some basic warm up stretches before the race stars. He's mostly trying to stay out of the way of others and focusing... and mentally preparing to stop himself from transforming into animals in the middle of the race to be honest. It will be a good practice of not relying on magic like he's not used to.]
During the race
[While he's used to "parkouring" with three-dimensional maneuvear gear, Jean is pretty good with maneauvearing places without them. Especially since he hasn't had his gear ever since he came to Avalon.
He doesn't seem to have too many problems going through the course - just a few hesitating moments here and there where he almost wants to turn into some sort animal to get by obstacles easier. Or just taking a moment to actually scout the safest route without use of equipment.]
After the race
[Second place isn't that bad and Jean can definitely feel proud of himself. He's taking a rest and drinking some water in another corner.]

[Keith had something to prove. He'd been frustrated with himself lately, and he was learning why, and that he had new limits in this place. Doing a race with no magic and none of his tech was going to be interesting. He'd been around for a year, and he was no more used to dealing with not having his Galra half than he had been when he first arrived. Instead, he'd been making up for it with having his armor recharged by the traders, and learning his new magic abilities. But, to go all out as a full human, when the fact that he was half-Galra had never been a conscious factor until a couple of years ago, Keith knew he was taking something of a risk. Still, he had to try.
He did some warmups, of course, trying not just to get his body ready, but his mind, too.]
=====
During
[He started off pretty strong. The course chosen eased competitors into things, and then got harder in the middle. It was around there that he misjudged a jump, not giving himself enough power, and missed the landing. He hit hard, rolling with it as best he could, but it still hurt, and slowed him down for the rest of the run. He kept pushing through as hard as he could to finish, but it was well behind where he could have been if he'd read that jump better.]
=====
After
[Nothing serious, thankfully, but a sprained ankle was still a sprained ankle, and he was going to have to rest it for a few days. He was grumpy with himself for it, though, and was sitting off to the side icing the injured joint, and working his way through a bottle of water.]
after!
Happens. ( honestly, as far as parkour injuries go, a sprained ankle isn't the worst thing that could have happened. ) You want to wait for the healers?
( he could be up on his feet soon enough, but she's pretty capable of wrapping up a sprain if nothing else. )
