mingle / the great avalonian... parkour race?
🧙 WHO: Kate and all interested contestants and viewers
⚔️️ WHAT: the great parkour race!
🕒 WHEN: 2/2; 14:00
🗺️ WHERE: off limits parkour gym
⚠️ WARNINGS: nothing but possible use of courage arrows
Off Limits isn't the easiest place to find, tucked away in a side street as it is, but once you find the street, the neon sign is a dead giveaway. And if that still isn't enough, the fact that there are cameras floating around the streets, signposting the route for the race may do it. Step inside the gym itself and Kate — hair pulled up into pigtails, looking cosy in thermal leggings and an orange hoodie — will lead you through the main hall to the outdoor training area if you're competing (after taking your money and making you sign a waiver) or ask if you prefer to sit inside or out to view. In both cases you'll find chairs and a projector system currently broadcasting the route for the race, as run by Off Limit's surly owner.
There are quick explanations of the rules — don't use magic, feel free to use other routes as long as you pass the "checkpoints" the cameras create, don't interfere with other competitors, and anyone who does try to cheat will find themselves shot with some of the enchanted arrows Kate has procured for quest purposes (yes, that's been written in the waiver, hope you read the fine print!). And disqualified. Then a quick reminder that the first, second and third place racers can choose their prize in order of placement (first place gets first pick, etc) and everyone who doesn't place will be given a pack of homemade lavender tea as a thank you for competing.
So, with all that said, get racing!
( OOC: you know how this goes! Make your own top levels, interact freely. If you're competing please comment here and I will RNG the winners on 5/2 - Saturday - to give everyone a few days to comment. )

Absolutely! I'd be first in line - and until then, I'll practice my tailfeathers off!

it's been a long time since she thought competitive sports was a viable world for her, and this isn't quite how she imagined it as a kid, but... it doesn't suck.
not at all.
she lapses into a moment's silence before picking the conversation back up with a simple enough question. )
When'd you start parkour?
( because those were some pretty slick moves out there. she's guessing Della's been practicing for a while before this. )

I've been doing this kind of thing way before it got a name slapped on it! Ever since I was a duckling, I've been going on dangerous, world-traveling adventures with my family... and there's not always a nice little sidewalk to stroll on. When you're avoiding death traps and bad guys, you gotta learn to run on any surface you can find.
[ She's not trying to brag... but lbr she's bragging. ]

Kate blinks, her brows knitting together as she tries to parse the answer to her question. weird enough that she's talking to a walking, talking duck, but now she has to imagine that on top of everything. )
Adventures?
( that... yeah, that's a lot for the box of what her brain considers "common sense" to take in. )

That's right! I've been traveling the glove with my uncle and brother for decades! We look for ancient treasures, hidden cities, and to find what no one else can!

Sounds like someone should make a movie about you.
( she's pretty sure someone has made that kind of movie back home, actually. )

[ More casual chuckling since this is all so normal! ]

ugh, she wishes she had Ainsworth here. he'd find ways to smoothly transition this conversation, wouldn't so much as miss a beat. )
What d'ya do here, then?
( that... was an attempt! )
no subject
[ Again. Cause. Yeah. Totally normal thing she's done before. ]

she likes this more.
of course, she won't be honest about that out loud. not when there's one much more pressing question that needs answering. )
... There owt you haven't done?
( adventuring, being a knight, related to a guy who owns half of everything. that's a whole lot for a duck. )
no subject
Somehow, I keep finding things I haven't done yet! And I hope it stays that way!
no subject
Fair enough.
( that said, she should probably go check on the other participants. )
Go rest up. I'll message you if I do this again.

[ She offers a little salute as her new friend walks on by! ]
