❄️Welcome to Tsumugi’s surprise birthday party!❄️

Kazunari has pulled out all the stops to deck out Kaika theater for the party. Using his new pumped up light magic, and in homage to Tsumugi’s first role with Mankai, Kazunari has thrown illusions of clouds all around the main stage and audience seating. They coat the floor and stage as if you’re actually walking on them and they also float dreamily through the air. On the ceiling, stars twinkle brightly. And in addition to all that, on stage, the heaven set of Sympathy for an Angel has been faithfully recreated.

And if there’s mistletoe snagged from the end of Louis’ holiday party hanging very obviously in one of the archways? Don’t worry about it.


❄️Refreshments❄️

While there is the traditional birthday cake, there is also an array of egg tarts to snack on. Everything is decorated with stars and feathers accordingly. There is an assortment of drinks but adults can ask Kazunari for the spicy stuff.


❄️Games? Charades!❄️

This wouldn’t be a party for Tsumugi “theater junkie” Tsukioka if there wasn’t some form of acting game.

There is a great, big stack of notecards filled with people, plays, actions and all sorts of prompts ready to be acted out as you see fit - for everyone else’s amusement! Maybe grab a partner and try to make a skit out of two completely random prompts!

❄️Letters to Michael❄️

A major theme of Sympathy for an Angel is letter writing, so Kazunari wanted to incorporate it somehow.

Letters to Michael will work kind of like a guestbook. Write a letter to Tsumugi or even just write out your thoughts or your current worries - just how you’re feeling at the moment. Write your letter, seal it in an envelope and drop it in the provided box! This is just for fun and completely optional.


❄️Host Kazunari❄️

As the host of this party, Kazunari will be flitting around making sure everyone is well-fed and having fun. But seriously, go bug Tsumugi not Kazunari: it’s his day after all!!

[Tsuzuru places a gift bag down that has a journal for Tsumugi to write down his thoughts or any notes he might have for anything. Some brand new gardening tools, a cookbook with egg recipes, and a card. He hopes Tsumugi likes everything!]

[It's not a big present, but it's a present. And look at that, apparently Zidane had gone into a bookstore to get Tsumugi a book filled with the flora of Avalon. Well, most of it since a certain troublesome plant from the Land of Rot is absent (but most photographers would understandably be not willing).]

( there's always the difficulty that comes with birthdays around gift giving holidays: double the presents to think of. and Izumi doesn't want to re-tread too much ground here. so, finally, she settles on a basket with a variety of brightly coloured flowers, which came with a free bag of mystery bulbs.

[It’s getting to be late evening when Kazunari whisks Tsumugi out of their new home under the pretext of just having a birthday dinner out. Whatever Tsumugi wants, he’ll get! Kazunari’s treat!

Except, shoot. Partway through their walk, Kazunari stops.] Ack, can we stop at the theater real quick? I forgot something there! Soz soz!!

[Unsurprisingly, the theater is dark when they enter. And it continues to be dark as they go deeper into the theater, reaching the main stage. But even in the dark, once his eyes adjust, Tsumugi should be able to see props on the stage that weren’t there prior.

Behind him also, Kazunari mumbles something unintelligible before flicking on the lights. His light magic alights the room in a dreamy illusion and at the center of the stage, all of Tsumugi’s acquaintances have been herded together.]

Surprise!! [Kazunari envelops Tsumugi in a hug from behind as he cheers.] Happy birthday Tsumutsumu!!

[ Tsumugi didn't expect much for his birthday. Not out of a lack of caring from his friends, of course - it's more that he didn't really ask for anything. He would've been perfectly content to spend his 26th going to a cafe and planning his future garden.

But he wasn't about to turn down Kazunari's kindness. He'd let his housemate spoil him without complaint tonight (though he tried to suggest a restaurant they'd both like...). And he doesn't even think twice about the detour to the theater. It seemed that Kazunari's been extra busy with something recently, but until now he'd just thought it was some social media thing for Kaika he had no hope of understanding.

But then the lights turn on and he's left staring at the very much not empty stage. The set, the illusions adding to the scene... and his friends, both old and new.

He blinks, needing a few seconds to just process before he tilts his head to look at Kazunari. ] You did all of this for me? [ aaaaa??? ]

[It's frankly a miracle that Tsumugi never caught on to Kazunari's plans. He tried to do as much work as he could out of the house but he totally would have been found out if Tsumugi had just gone into the wrong room of the theater. Or if he'd grilled Kazunari more about that text he'd sent him. Or many other instances. But that was one of the wonderful things about Tsumugi: his beautiful naivety and pureness.

Kazunari squeezes Tsumugi once more before mostly releasing him. He keeps one hand on Tsumugi's arm.] Whaaat~? What do you mean "all this for you"!?

[His expression softens.]

You're my best friend, of course I did.

[ fellas it's so INCREDIBLY gay ]

Kazu-kun... [ Of course he knows Kazunari thinks fondly of him. There's no question in his mind that they're close friends. But standing here in this place he considers his second home, the space filled with loved ones and a meticulously recreated set for a play so near and dear to his heart, it feels so much more than fondness. He's... special to Kazunari, isn't he? There's no other way to put it.

Kazunari may have let him go, but Tsumugi turns around to pull him into an embrace of his own. ] ... Thank you so much.

[ His gratitude for his presence, his friendship, goes beyond what words can express - but that, alongside a gentle squeeze, is all he has to offer. ]

A ❄ a very thankful birthday boy
[ It would've been one thing if this were just a small gathering with his Mankai family - but of course, would it be Kazunari if it wasn't over-the-top in some very, uh, lit(?) way. So even though Kazunari's the host, he's trying his best to greet everyone who's decided to show up for him.

So when he finally makes his way to you, his eyes are shining with gratitude as he says, sincerely ] Thank you so much for coming. [ he's so happy...!!!! ]

B ❄ a very technologically-inept birthday boy
[ He wants to remember this day - remember all the work Kazunari's put into this - with picture perfect clarity. So what better way to do so than with a "goat" selfie? (... that's not how to use "goat", is it?)

Unfortunately, he didn't get gifted with technology prowess for his 26th birthday, so after visibly struggling for about a minute, he turns to whoever's nearby (you) with a sheepish little smile. ] Um... would you mind taking a selfie with me? [ And helping him take said selfie, perhaps? ]

C ❄ a very theater nerdy birthday boy
[ It's absolutely no surprise that Tsumugi's acting junkie side is coming out in full force. How can it not, with the Sympathy for an Angel set recreation and the charades? ]

[ 1. And the thing is, Tsumugi is very, very good at charades. But he'll still politely ask ] Would you like to try acting? Or would you rather guess first?

[ 2. As ever, he's drawn to the stage. It's a strange feeling, to be standing on this particular set without the rest of Winter Troupe by his side. But he can almost see Tasuku - no, Raphael - with him, eyes filled with stern concern. "You're a fool, Michael." ] "You're worried about me, aren't you, Raphael?"

[ uh. enjoy the one man show, I guess? Or, if you're an original Mankai member, feel free to join in! ]

[ Catch him (maybe obliviously) eating an egg tart under the mistletoe? Give him more egg treats to eat, or a drink of sorts? I'm down for anything, but if you wanna hash anything out first, feel free to PM me or message me at castforms! ]

[ Taichi has been practicing the new spell that he got ahold of at the start of December and he finally feels like he can use it safely on a person! What better person than to use it on than the person he know loves eggs more than anything? It's not even the first time he's put an egg in Tsumugi but... come to think of it, is that still in there? Tsumugi will find himself with Taichi's gaze drilling a hole in his back as he tries to will himself into having x-ray vision magic.

It doesn't work, but eventually, he does come over and give Tsumugi a gentle two-handed pat to the back with a little Eggcellent Spell to go. ]

[ ... Why does he suddenly feel like he's the focus of a really intense stare? Eh, it's probably nothing. He's the cause for celebration today, so it's only natural that the attention is on him.

So anyways. He turns to Taichi with a warm smile. ] I don't think I've ever received a birthday pat before. So, thank you. [ And also for being here! (... and for the egg, though he doesn't know about that yet.) ]

[ Of course Minako comes when she's received an invitation like that. As if Minako would ever skip out on a friend's birthday, let alone an actual birthday party.. she enjoys parties way too much to just ignore it!

So the girl looks rather happy to be there, just having fun, enjoying herself..

But then. But then!! The cute, handsome birthday boy is asking to take a selfie.. with her?

Minako's eyes light up like the sun itself. ]

Of course! Let's take twenty!

[ He might have doomed himself. ]

Twenty? [ That's... a lot of selfies.

But any shock or surprise Tsumugi has from her request melts away with a smile. He wouldn't have said no anyway, but with Minako so visibly happy, there really is no question. ] Sure. That sounds good to me. [ (he's just doomed himself.)

He moves to stand next to her, tilting his phone this way and that to try and find a semi-decent angle and lighting. ] Are there any poses you have in mind? [ If they're really going to take twenty selfies, they might as well be fun ones! ]

[ See, this is why Minako is so fond of Tsumugi. Where else can you find cute guys who are willing to go along with pretty much every single suggestion you have? His pure, accepting heart truly is beautiful.

And right now said heart is just making Minako excited, considering the girl looks outright ecstatic that she's getting to do that. Her smile stretches from ear to ear.

The moment he asks about poses, one of her arms shoots up into the air. ]

[ Yes, she's already making half a heart with her arm, bending it slightly.. join her with the other half, Tsumugi! It'll be cute, and it's a classic pose! ]

[Even if he wasn't, Zidane still chuckles. It'd been too long since he'd come to celebrate someone's birthday - and that previous one, he hosted. So, it's nice being a guest and worrying about bringing a present.]

I really was! I had no idea Kazu-kun was planning all of this... [ How Kazunari managed to keep this a secret for however long when they're roommates is a mystery to him. Really, he's going to have to repay him somehow.

But that's a thought for later. For now, he's focusing on Zidane. ] This is a bigger party than I'm used to, but it's fun.

[Tsuzuru isn't one for selfies he doesn't take many of them except with Kazunari, but when Tsumugi asked how could he turn him down? He walked over to Tsumugi with a wave as his familiar, Mizuno, popped out of his hood to look at Tsumugi. When he was close enough his familiar slowly floated over to him. Tsuzuru couldn't help, but chuckle at how his kuda-gitsune liked Tsumugi.]

Hey Tsumugi-kun, happy birthday! Sure, I'll take one with you. Where did you want to stand?

[tsumtsuki]

[ Tsumugi gives Mizuno a little scritch on the head in greeting, then smiles warmly at Tsuzuru. ]

I was thinking we could sit on the set. [ He glances toward the stage - toward Sympathy for an Angel, the first play Tsuzuru wrote with him in mind - then back at his fellow actor. ] Would that be alright with you?

( Izumi isn't much of a selfie taker, either, but she can at least operate a phone confidently enough to take one without any of the strange mishaps which frequently seem to befall Tsumugi.

so, when he asks, she smiles. ) Sure.

( it's his birthday, and she's discarded the usual jeans and t-shirt for a pretty dress to fit the occasion, so they should commemorate! )

[ Bless you, Izumi, for your ability to use a phone... (though tsumugi, really, it's not that difficult. you're going to have to get the hang of it eventually.)

With her acceptance, he leans toward her slightly, to the point where their forearms press just ever so slightly together. Any more and he might risk getting cooties from her. ... no, but seriously, he's simply being respectful of her space. And it's not like he's naturally a touchy-feely sort of person anyway.

He sometimes struggles with smiling for a camera, but it comes naturally this time. Though small, it's soft and completely genuine. ] Cheese.

[ And, after a few seconds too long, to be absolutely sure he's not going to ruin a photo by moving too soon, he turns to her. ] Thank you very much. [ He'll cherish this selfie and all the others forever! ]

You look really nice, by the way. [ he hopes that isn't weird to say......... ]

[Photography is an advancement that some of the native locals to Camelot don't know a whole lot about, even though it's become rather commonplace and provided as a luxury for those who might have come from a world with similar things. Watching Tsumu fiddle around with his own leaves her smiling.

Of course she's happy to take a picture with him.

Without a moment's hesitance, she nestles in right close to him. She doesn't even need to be wearing a cheesy smile because Aerith is almost always smiling to begin with.]

[ It may be a joke, but he takes it sincerely. ] Of course.

[ But before he gets to deep into the all important search for that perfect selfie angle, he remembers something. ]

Oh! Should I try using a filter? [ It takes him a moment - and he even exits out of the camera app entirely on accidently - but he manages to navigate to his downloaded selection of camera filters. (he'd really been so impressed when kazunari first showed him them... they're so cute...!!!!!)

Of course, he immediately clicks on one of his many flower-themed ones. ] What do you think?
