The Day Before

Anyone looking to reach out to Gokudera before his procedure can contact him through his IC inbox or in here to wish him luck or... offer any possible last words for him if they suspect he may need them.

Gokudera's pretty certain he isn't going to die, doesn't want to, and will openly say as much with a smile in order to make himself and anyone he talks to feel better. He will spend the day before the procedure keeping to himself, trying not to alert anyone of any possible upset. He'll seem ruminative and fairly aloof and avoidant when it comes to feelings unless anyone calls him on his bullshit.

For those looking to simply talk to him about this, now would be their best chance. Gokudera has only really informed his boss of everything, and even his best friends aren't contacted. Sorry, but he's trying to keep the worrying for everyone to a minimum.

Maybe he needs to be distracted before the big day! Be the one to distract or offer a kind word! Or... not!


The Day of...

The only people allowed to be in the room of the procedure are Emet-Selch, Dr. Kimishima, Midoriya, Ochako, and Gokudera (obviously). There are people Gokudera would like to see directly after, to announce the successful removal of his collar, or if things turn out badly, would like them to know about his death. In an effort to keep the clinic free of a crowd of close friends, that lobby may only be occupied by Tsuna (or Midoriya as well if he can't get his nerves straight). The preparation for this is probably going to take longer than the procedure itself. This is the time for high nerves and lots of anxious sweating about everything.


The Procedure

Here's the plan:

- Ochako uses kinetic magic to keep the collar in place
- Gokudera uses the Mini potion to shrink himself
- Gokudera falls/shrinks out of the collar's range
- Ochako then uses her magic to move the collar into a lock-box (gotta keep other necks, fingers, wrists or whatever safe from the collar)

There's a lot that COULD go wrong but to anyone who knows Gokudera or what he's been through... this is going to go smooth because it's about time something went well for him.


The Freedom! AKA: Gokudera Independence Day (I'll see myself out)

Gokudera is roughly four inches tall and will stay that way for a few hours. He's FREE! Finally! Consider you get a text message saying the procedure was a success! He'll be celebrating later but hasn't actually planned anything out.

If you didn't get a text from him, you could have gotten a text from anyone involved. Maybe you even got sent a picture of a tiny!Gokudera with no collar around his neck. Blow his phone up with congratulation texts! Show up at the clinic (Naomi may not like that), but hey it's good news! React however you want! Just have fun!

The Freedom!

[Hijikata didn't know when exactly Gokudera would get his collar removed, only that it'd be in early November, and they already agreed to meet up (presumably with Gokudera as a ghost) if he didn't hear from him by mid-November, so he doesn't reach out to him before the procedure. As such the text message comes as a happy surprise.]

Congratulations! Good work from everybody involved!

[He doesn't expect to hear back from him right away - it's probably hard to type while he's so tiny, if it's not someone else doing it for him -, but maybe Gokudera will text or call him once he's back to his usual size, and sooner or later Hijikata will definitely want to have a drink with him or something. Finally something went well for this unlucky boy!]

[The phone is propped up, and Gokudera is able to use his light magic to create steps towards it as it is leaned on a side table. He's having to smack on the device to click buttons, walking around it. It's an interesting exercise to respond through text.]

[Imagining the faerie-sized bomber slamming the phone's keys with his whole palms almost makes Hijikata grin, but Gokudera's next message puts a frown on his face.]

[Hijikata wants to first of all protest Gokudera's self-assessment as an S, and then keep harping on the collar needing to be disposed of, but they're not on a secure connection, and the last thing he wants is to give any unsavoury technomage hackers ideas for nefarious deeds by further prodding him about what in the world he thinks the damn thing could come in handy for.]

Good of a safe as Larry is, better don't feed him something like that. Perhaps the local authorities can help you keep it somewhere secure where it can't be easily stolen?

[It may seem like overkill, but the damn collar is such an awful instrument, Hijikata really doesn't want it to fall into the wrong hands.]

Tsuchinoko and the Yeti, yes. Aren't the others American? Isn't Bigfoot like a big gorilla and the Mothman like a big moth?

It’s not about where they are from, but about how there is always a search for proof about their existence. So, like the Ogopogo, Tsuchinoko, and the Yeti, and those other cryptids, Larry will not show up in pictures or leave anything behind that could be considered evidence of his existence.

I think the Sasquatch is somewhat related to the yeti… humanoid, large, ape-like hairy cryptids. I’ve always wanted to see a cryptid like that… or an alien. So maybe I’m lucky to have Larry, as he’s very close to the Ogopogo or the monster of Loch Ness.

[Back on his homeworld they differentiate between sapient Amanto and more animal- or beast-like other alien species, and hell if the latter (and also the former, but) haven't caused the Shinsengumi a boatload of problems in its time.]

OK, I admit, some aliens aren't so bad. On Prismatica I had a crystal tortoise as a pet.

[It was actually his friend Tsukuyo who noticed to homeless animal crawling around in the street and all but forced him to adopt it with her, but details! He briefly wonders if he should look into whether living things can be imported to Avalon via 'Home Regain', but on second thought it's probably better to leave it on its native world. After all Hijikata hopes to be able to return there once they have sorted out the calamity.]

A crystal tortoise?

Sure, why not? There's not much to tell though. It was a tortoise, just with a crystal shell and scales.

Could you see through it? What kind of food did it eat?

Not totally, only a little bit. It was halfway milky/opaque (very shiny and colourful though). It ate plants, but the plants on Prismatica weren't like the ones on Earth.

[Gokudera is so excited about this... he does have his leopard pet, so perhaps he just really likes animals more than Hijikata realised until now.]
