The Day Before

Anyone looking to reach out to Gokudera before his procedure can contact him through his IC inbox or in here to wish him luck or... offer any possible last words for him if they suspect he may need them.

Gokudera's pretty certain he isn't going to die, doesn't want to, and will openly say as much with a smile in order to make himself and anyone he talks to feel better. He will spend the day before the procedure keeping to himself, trying not to alert anyone of any possible upset. He'll seem ruminative and fairly aloof and avoidant when it comes to feelings unless anyone calls him on his bullshit.

For those looking to simply talk to him about this, now would be their best chance. Gokudera has only really informed his boss of everything, and even his best friends aren't contacted. Sorry, but he's trying to keep the worrying for everyone to a minimum.

Maybe he needs to be distracted before the big day! Be the one to distract or offer a kind word! Or... not!

The Day of...

The only people allowed to be in the room of the procedure are Emet-Selch, Dr. Kimishima, Midoriya, Ochako, and Gokudera (obviously). There are people Gokudera would like to see directly after, to announce the successful removal of his collar, or if things turn out badly, would like them to know about his death. In an effort to keep the clinic free of a crowd of close friends, that lobby may only be occupied by Tsuna (or Midoriya as well if he can't get his nerves straight). The preparation for this is probably going to take longer than the procedure itself. This is the time for high nerves and lots of anxious sweating about everything.

The Procedure

Here's the plan:

- Ochako uses kinetic magic to keep the collar in place
- Gokudera uses the Mini potion to shrink himself
- Gokudera falls/shrinks out of the collar's range
- Ochako then uses her magic to move the collar into a lock-box (gotta keep other necks, fingers, wrists or whatever safe from the collar)

There's a lot that COULD go wrong but to anyone who knows Gokudera or what he's been through... this is going to go smooth because it's about time something went well for him.

The Freedom! AKA: Gokudera Independence Day (I'll see myself out)

Gokudera is roughly four inches tall and will stay that way for a few hours. He's FREE! Finally! Consider you get a text message saying the procedure was a success! He'll be celebrating later but hasn't actually planned anything out.

If you didn't get a text from him, you could have gotten a text from anyone involved. Maybe you even got sent a picture of a tiny!Gokudera with no collar around his neck. Blow his phone up with congratulation texts! Show up at the clinic (Naomi may not like that), but hey it's good news! React however you want! Just have fun!

Celebration???

[Hijikata isn't above wishing godawful things on some people, but who would deserve that cursed device?! More importantly, wouldn't putting it on someone basically be a face-heel turn? He doesn't want to lose Gokudera to the dark side!]

As if I’m not already!? Look, I don’t plan on using it, but there are always possible uses for a weapon like this.

[Hijikata wants to first of all protest Gokudera's self-assessment as an S, and then keep harping on the collar needing to be disposed of, but they're not on a secure connection, and the last thing he wants is to give any unsavoury technomage hackers ideas for nefarious deeds by further prodding him about what in the world he thinks the damn thing could come in handy for.]

[He'll totally nag him more about this once he sees him in person again.]

I don’t think destroying it would be safe, but I’d be lying if I said destroying it entirely is not tempting. Like my own little ‘fuck you’ to Amoi.

[Okay, that sounds a bit less alarming... he lets out an understanding sigh (not that Gokudera can hear that).]

I get it (on both counts). Maybe have a technomage you trust inspect it for ways of destroying or disabling it?

[That last statement makes Hijikata snort, not least because he could say the same (the only technomage he knows is Rei, who left about as shady an impression as one can).]

Good of a safe as Larry is, better don't feed him something like that. Perhaps the local authorities can help you keep it somewhere secure where it can't be easily stolen?

[It may seem like overkill, but the damn collar is such an awful instrument, Hijikata really doesn't want it to fall into the wrong hands.]

[Gokudera will give a snort of his own at the mention of “local authorities”.]

[There’s a lengthy pause.]

[Figures that the mafia boy would say that! They really are a mismatched pair with their different alignments, even now. Hijikata was already grinning, and the follow-up message makes him outright laugh.]

You should stop texting before your arms fall off!

[Really, they can think further about what to do with the collar later (provided it's safely stowed away for the time being). Right now Gokudera should just enjoy his freedom!]

It’s not every day I get to be this small! Oh… I could knock my phone down and just step on the buttons. Put the autocorrect on and follow the suggested words that come on the screen. Let’s see- I also just want to see you I don’t think you’re going to be a good person Never mind. Suggested text is a bad idea I don’t agree with any of it.

That's one hell of a combination.

[He's amused and actually tried it out too. His autocorrect suggestion was "That's what I was thinking too much about"... it was more of an introspective answer than he feels like sending. Right now they can be happy and goof around because Gokudera is free!]

The effort it took to delete those suggested phrases was more work than tying what I want to say. I’m thinking of all the things I can do now that I’m free. Maybe spend a good while relaxing and fishing. I can give Uri some fish, and donate the rest so it can go to feeding refugees. What do you think?

[What was that just now, a fourth wall glitch? Definitely not a mun screw-up!! But the conversation is already continuing, so it totally doesn't matter.]

Fishing? Of all things? It's November; you'll end up ice fishing at this rate. But if you're up for that don't let me stop you!

[Despite enjoying Gokudera's company he doesn't want to come along on such a cold adventure. Patrolling on a chilly night is acceptable, but sitting still would make him restless.]

It will be! If I don’t catch anything, I’ll just send you photos of Larry. If he doesn’t show up well, I promise that’s just him… probably trying to look fake. He doesn’t like the thought of anyone having proof of his existence.
