🧙 WHO: Din and You
⚔️️ WHAT: Quests and the general day to day of life
🕒 WHEN: throughout October
🗺️ WHERE: Camelot and around
⚠️ WARNINGS: potential violence?
A - New Digs
[With all the refugees coming in to the city, Din figures he can at least give up where he's been squatting for the past few months. He has enough funds from all the work he's done around town to purchase a caravan wagon. It's not big, it's a little run down, and currently it's not going anywhere from where it's parked on the edge of town, but Din likes it. It's familiar, and reminds him of the Razor Crest, as much as that still stings.
He's usually up early making repairs since the roof leaks, and the door's off its hinges, and it definitely needs a new coat of paint. But he's happy with it.]
B - Headless Horseman
[There's the sound of impact as Din dodges out of the way of the charging horse, his spear landing a few feet ahead of him. The Headless Horseman rides past, and he can hear the thundering hooves retreat. He does his best to stand quickly and grab his spear, readying himself for the next charge.]
I've got it distracted! Get them away!
[There's a slight tickle in the back of Din's head, which he's started to realize is the sense that he can bargain with the creature in front of him. But he gets the feeling that his opponent is not in a listening mood at the moment.]
C - Bunker Down
[Even though he's out of the inn, there's still more work to be done it seems, so Din is focusing on making beds. It's not difficult. Certainly not as much work as regular maintenance on his star ship. And he's pretty good at that.]
Hey, could you hold that part steady? These need to fit together properly if the bed's going to stand.
[He doesn't have three arms so that makes some of this more difficult.]
D - Wildcard

Wood: duly braced o7. ]
Why do they need so many of these?
no subject
Guessing you're new? A dragon attacked some cities last month, leaving a lot of people without homes.
So we have to make space for them.
no subject
[ Her brow furrowed as she listened. Well, that would explain a bit, wouldn't it? Dragons were walking (or flying) calamities, apex predators. Most people wouldn't stand a chance against one, let alone your random townsperson. ]
How'd they get rid of it?
[ Also: should she be concerned? ]
no subject
[He shrugs.]
We were able to drive it off, but not before it burned down a city. Haven't seen it since.
no subject
[ Even for a dragon, that was quite a lot of damage. Maybe it had been particularly enraged, which... come to think of it, didn't bode well for future dragon-free excursions. If it was that pissed off, wouldn't it come back? ]
Who's 'we'?
no subject
[Din assumes it will probably come back if it gets hungry or something. The Dragons here are very different from the ones he's encountered.]
People like us, Otherworlders. There's a lot of us here.
no subject
[ Well... someonehad to man the taverns and shops, she supposed. Actually, perhaps this place was more like back home than she'd thought. ]
Everyone keeps asking me what kind of magic I can do. It's weird.
no subject
I'd like to say you get used to it, but it is weird.
[Oh good, someone who gets it.]
You figured it out yet?
no subject
[ And who would be better equipped to sling spells, the storied elven magic researcher or the ninja cat? No points for the correct answer to that one. ]
But I heard there are people here who can break curses.
no subject
[And while he's gotten used to it, it's still very much in the camp of others are better at this I'll still to what I know.]
Should be. Might be someone in town, but there's also a network you can ask.
no subject
[ She had been getting the distinct impression that most of the 'out-of-towners', in fact, came from some pretty odd corners of existence. At least the others had occasionally bandied around talk of some theoretical other world. ]
I will. Someone around here's got to know what they're doing. Bet they'll ask for an arm and a leg, though. [ Ah, well. Such was the price of work. ]
no subject
[He's spent enough time there and has enough people there that it currently works as a home base. Especially since he doesn't know where his tribe has gone.]
I can't say I know what the going rate is, but I can ask around.
no subject
Huh? Are you part of a guild or something? [ Or maybe the man simply wanted to steer loose business toward his own network of connections? Well, as long as they were good at what they did! ]
no subject
Not really, just been here a while. And it gets easier for everyone if information can be shared.
no subject
[ She assumed, anyway. Where there were people, there were secrets!! ] I bet there's still people who make their deals under the table.
no subject
[Not that he's ever opposed to the dark web quests. Some of them have brought good money.]
A
Making her way up along the path, a wagon up ahead drew her attention. That seemed to be new...
The figure on the roof seemed familiar. Familiar enough for her to saunter over towards the wagon that had seen better days.]
I hope you didn't pay much for this. [She was amused. Mando didn't exactly strike her as the travelling merchant type. Giving the wagon a once over, she supposed that she'd seen much worse in her travels.] Going to get a steed to pull this thing?
no subject
[If anything, the fixer upper will keep him busy, especially with the cold potentially rolling in.]
Thinking about it. But it's fine where it is for right now. And not really in any shape to go anywhere.
Figured it was better than camping or sharing a room.
no subject
Don't like your room partners snoring? [It was said in a teasing way. Then she stepped over to run her fingertips over the edge of the weather worn wheel before her attention ran up to the door hanging mostly from its hinges.] When do you intend to move into this thing?
no subject
[And it was looking to be a bit more of a longer term situation than he was prepared for.]
I more or less have already. I've fixed up worse.
[Considering the constant maintenance of the Razor Crest, this is nothing.]
no subject
Well, I suppose as long as you're happy who am I to argue? [It was said with an air of tease before she took a few steps back and glanced up. Well knew if she was serious though when she spoke given the twinkle of mischief in her eyes.] Need a hand at all?
no subject
The roof needs some reinforcement. If you could pass me some of the boards, that would help.
no subject
Pulling it into her grasp, she hoisted it up to Mando's waiting hands.]
Do you find the repairs of such vehicles therapeutic? Or are you just biding your time?
no subject
Granted, I don't plan on this thing seeing much action once it's all together.
[And he'll take the boards, laying them over the hole.]
no subject
The answer was honest. As he took the plank of wood, she regarded him in thought. There weren't many people in any world that she held any level of respect for, and yet (as small as it may be) she felt a small spark of it for this particular one.
Interesting.
Never mind the fact that the use of 'ship' brings forth the image of sailing battle ships. The thought of there being actual flying ships, let alone ones that went out into space, was a concept she hadn't heard of.]
Wagons rarely give much of a tactical advantage in battle anyway.
no subject
[Which he may have done the odd time or two.]
Thankfully there's other ways to get around as well.
no subject
Knock this thing over and you'll probably end up with a pile of broken boards to hide behind. [She smiled in that teasing flirtatious way of hers before offering a chuckle to show it was all in jest.] It will make for a decent space to rest your head, handsome.
Although have you considered the troubles you might bring yourself for having it parked right out front of town? [Mando you are parked between whatever might attack in the future and the people in the Town. She's sure you've realised this so why put yourself in such a position?]
no subject
[The fact that he's survived worse is probably a refrain by now. And well, cover's cover in an emergency.]
Figure I can probably handle it. Unless there's a horde attacking the city, but that's yet to happen.
[And this place seems peaceful enough.]
no subject
After the boards had been handed off, she turned her attention to the broken door. Like everything else to do with this wagon it had seen better days. The hinge pin seemed to have disappeared from one and the other seemed to be beyond repair.]
Have you already purchased replacement hinges for this door?
no subject
[There's a wooden box with tools, extra wood, hinges, and other bits and pieces that might be useful. At least until they're not or he finds he's missing a piece.]
I have a list.
[The phone's useful for that at least.]
