⚠️ WARNINGS: It's Colette's Birthday. No getting out of hand, but warnings will be added if they must.

Sunny, clear, bright with calm, but visible waves, all those perfect conditions for a day at the beach.

... Really, he'd been checking to make sure. Meanwhile, he had to trust nothing would happen since Camelot was still right there. Just one day, one day of things staying normal with no interruptions was all he was asking.

Anyway, rental grill and table? Check.

Beach umbrellas? Check.

Extra towels? Check.

Beach balls, floating rings, basically things that said 'beach fun'? Check, check, aannd check!

While Zidane had the bowls, water, and toys for the dogs, Eustace was supplying what they ate (which was for the best), and he's making sure to keep them away from the disposable plates and cold foods so no mistakes were made. If anyone wanted alcohol? Well, that wasn't available - Zidane's only packed water, juice, and some assorted carbonated beverages for those that wanted it. BYOB if one really needs it - heck, he has some pizza on order later for people who'd rather that than the fruits, vegetables, or meat he's cooking up.

All-in-all, should be enough for people to chill out, have fun, and save room for the ice cream cake once it was time to sing 'Happy Birthday'!

[Cake might not be something she could keep for long. But it still shows thought and time put into it nonetheless. And she did love Genis's baking back home. She misses that. Bakugou's might not replace Genis's but it would do something to fill that hole at least. In her at least not missing the sweet treats around this time.]

So how old does this make you?

I'm seventeen!

[Which. What a concept. She never thought she would make it to see any birthday beyond her sixteenth. Given the Journey of Regeneration and her expected sacrifice or likely death in the process of it, back home. So Colette is still rather unsure almost on still figuring this concept of having a future. Planning for whatever comes next. The idea of future birthdays as most anyone else would expect.]

[ Excuse him what? This girl is his age? What the... ]

[ She's so flighty! Clumsy! Naive! ]

Yup! Isn't that amazing? Seventeen.....I never really thought about how to celebrate my next birthday but here it is already.

[Though. In her case she hadn't thought about any birthdays beyond her sixteenth but still. She would learn. She would adjust. She has to. Colette smiles, after a brief pursing of her lips, because it's expected. Because she was happy, really! Even if she hadn't considered this far ahead. Even if Lloyd and most of the others from home weren't here. Everyone else was, and they were trying so hard to make this a great day for her. Including Bakugou.]

I guess it doesn't really matter though. It's not like any of us are aging while we're here.

[ So do they really need to celebrate birthdays at all? Katsuki doesn't understand the madness surrounding a date either. He'd prefer to have a nice quiet birthday with maybe only a couple of people. ]

I'm not sure how it works on us aging or not, that's true. But it's still nice to celebrate all the same.

[The date only comes once a year. That and, well. She never anticipated actually getting to celebrate her birthday after last year. So on Colette's end this was particularly special given her circumstances. Even if she's aware that she might not age physically, given her Angel transformation and all. The ramifications of it are still something she is processing. But considering Kratos certainly doesn't look nearly as old as he really is. Let alone however old Remiel and Mithos are as well, for example.

This was kind of nice. After having just had a little unanticipated celebration with just Genis and Lloyd back home that one time when she turned twelve. It's nice to have all her friends together like this to properly celebrate her.]

At least. I think so. I never had a proper birthday party like this before back home. It was more a church thing. Everyone celebrating that we were a year closer to me leaving for my Journey.

[ Well that sure gets his attention. What do you mean she's never had a proper birthday? How many brats don't at least get that? Thus Bakugou sort of ends up squinting at her. Or maybe it's more like her world that doesn't allow for one to really think about their birthday?

A church thing? Celebrating a year closer to essentially getting rid of her? ]

That ain't a birthday... It's not celebrating you leaving. You at least get that much now, right?

It's.....well, on my twelfth birthday, Genis made me a cake! And Lloyd made me a pendant. That was probably the closest thing until this, that I've had to a birthday party.

[Cue her hand raising to the pendant Lloyd had made more recently, for her sixteenth. A circle shape this time, rather than the star one he had tried making for her earlier birthday. But still, even that was nothing compared to all this. To be able to do this, for her birthday given hers was a special occasion as the Chosen and all. It's only being here that has given her this freedom from home to try live a more normal life. To have a birthday party, for example.]

[ Bakugou, of course, doesn't know any of this. He's just thinking that her world is a strange one. There's probably reasons for this, he knows. But somehow he's not sure that he's interested. ]

The hell is wrong with people where you're from.

[ But then again! ]

Wrong? Ah, no. I mean. That's just for my birthday. Since I'm the Chosen. Everyone relies on me to go on my Journey of Regeneration, to save Sylvarant, my home world. So, that's why they all celebrate like that. Because they're so excited we're that much closer to that happening. Or, possibly happening if I succeed. Other people, my friends, they get a more regular party like this if they want.

[Colette's was different. She was always treated differently, because of her status as the Chosen. But she tries to explain. To help him understand. She is well aware her situation was rather unique so she isn't sure if he will really get it. At least, if he would accept that if it had been him instead. But still, she tries to explain as best she can for him.]

[ Oh great... Chosen. As in someone that was specifically selected to save everyone. Bakugou's seen what that sort of pressure does to a person. People who think they have to do that shit alone. ]

Yeah... You know what? That only further proves that those people shouldn't even matter. They're just damn extras.

Extras?

[Colette. Probably doesn't share that line of thought. Not when she grew up among the people of Iselia, her family and friends. Others might have been resentful to the rest of the town for her expected role and all but not Colette. She was too selfless, too forgiving for that. And she knows they didn't really know the whole truth about the Chosen system and her supposed fate.]

Augh. Nevermind.

[ Because she probably wouldn't see it that way, huh? Wouldn't see the innate fault in celebrating someone going out there and being told that THEY have to save the world. That to have that as a purpose for living...

Bakugou is in training to be a hero. He chose it though. That's the difference. There's nothing wrong with wanting to save the world. Nothing wrong with doing the right thing... But there's also nothing wrong with just being a person on the sidelines either. ]

Nevermind? Ah, okay....?

[He's right though. It was never Colette's choice. She was the Chosen since birth. She's lived most of her life with that knowledge of what that was supposed to mean for her fate. Resigned herself to it, accepted that. If it meant her family, Lloyd and everyone else would prosper. Then it was worth it.

She just had no idea until more recently how much of what she was told was a lie.]

But. Here, I get to have a party just like anyone else. I can just be 'Colette'. I like that.

[Maybe that's a little selfish to admit. But it is true.]

[ That's the thing though, huh? Here she doesn't really have to be some unknowing savior to all. Doesn't have to deal with that burden being placed securely onto her shoulders. Maybe, hopefully, she has some people that will help alleviate it.

Right now she doesn't got to think about it. ]

If that's the case, then you better try that damn cake.

[She agrees, figuring that would be obvious with her sweet tooth and all. She's rather partial to fruits in her recipes so it's no surprise she would enjoy that cake. This is like a second chance, for her. A break from everything back home. While she figures processing what Kratos told her and what she wants to do now.]

Take that as a hint to have some right now, Blondie. Then you can praise me for a good job.

[ And that will be sufficient for Bakugou. To know that much at least. Just that she liked it but - ]

Ah, okay!

[Cue her acquiring a knife to cut a slice and a fork to eat it with on a paper plate to try some. She slices a mouthful with her fork and tries it, bringing it to her lips. And all but beams at him because of course she loves it. It's cake. It's fruits.]

Mm, this is great! I love the fruits on top too.

[ There. Now he can actually preen because it's good to go. Of course it is. Bakugou wouldn't actually give anyone something that was less than perfect. ]

Good. Making sweet shit is annoying as hell. So you better make sure you eat all of it.

Hm. What do you like then? So I can make you something when it's your birthday!

[She prefers that sweet taste in using fruits with most all her dishes but that doesn't mean she is incapable of following a recipe without. She could at least try. If he went to all this effort for her, as she asks in between mouthfuls.]

Ah! I missed it? Or was it back home just before you got here or something? I should make a note of everyone's birthdays.....

I'm not as good at baking as Genis with his cake and cookies, but I can try!

[It's a good point though. She's not sure if Kratos and Emil, or more, Ratatosk really celebrate theirs if they even remember given how old they were by this stage. But her other friends here, at least. She could check with them to see. When their birthday was so she could make a list and prepare them a little something for the day.]

Aw. I won't arrange anything like this but. I can at least bring you a little something when yours comes around again?

[She doesn't want to push, to make him uncomfortable or anything. But, well. He went to this effort for her. She just wants to do the same back. Even if not with a party like this necessarily. But just so she could get him something nice or make him a treat he might like.]
