June Catch-All for Masamune

1. Overgrowth

A baby octopus that turned into a giant monster in a man's house. It sounded like a good test for his magic, some good practice for his swordsmanship, and a good opportunity to get a real fight in this place. But it looked like he wasn't the only one taking on this particular job.

It got Masamune to shoot a wild grin over at the person with him, standing some distance away from the house for the moment.

"Ready to have some fun?"

2. Ship Wreckers

Masamune was eager to go diving, being prepared to enter the water with the exception of one thing... He had no way to make it possible for him to breathe underwater, at least not yet. So, at least at first, he was looking around the beach once it was announced that they were going to the ship under there for a scavenger hunt. And that was when he spotted someone.

"Hey, are you headed down too? Mind if I tag along?"

If this person couldn't create air for them, he'd just find someone else to drag with them who could. The more the merrier for this kind of thing, right?

3. Hoist the Flags

Now it was time to try and find someone with a similar item to his, but that was proving to be more of a hassle than initially thought. Especially since he was having to keep his head above water at that point, else he risked getting the salt water under his eyepatch. It might have been a closed wound, but getting salt in there was still unpleasant.

He just looked at the item in his hand then, a rusted candlabra, before holding it up and shouting.

"HEY! Anyone else got one of these?"

Because that was certainly the best way to get attention, right?

4. Beach Episode

It was probably unusual to walk around the beach in (seemingly) nothing but a towel like one would in the hot springs (at least, if you were trying to preserve modesty), but that was exactly what he was doing. He had to wonder how long it would take for people to notice that he was wearing a pair of deep blue swim trunks underneath, and in equal measure he had to wonder how many people would yell at him for his supposed lack of decency. Still, after working to clean up and prepare the ship for the traders, he deserved a little fun.

Which meant Masamune was wandering around, observing games, trying barbeque recipes, complimenting people on their choice in swimwear, splashing others in the water, and overall he was just having a fun time. Anyone care to join him?

Or, maybe you're the unlucky victim to a water stream straight to your back, with Masamune only wearing a huge grin and holding a rather large water gun proudly. These were a lot of fun to play with!

5. Roaring Rescuers

It couldn't all be fun and games for one Date Masamune. Through the grapevine (or through a very reliable 'kitsune'), he had heard about the underground fighting ring. While a part of him would have liked to participate in the fights themselves, even Masamune... Occasionally... Could understand the meaning of stealth. If he had to.

Masamune wasn't sneaking in alone, but by the time they reached the Fogueria, he just got the biggest (and possibly most dangerous smile) he could have.

"How about I take this thing into the arena with a bang? That should make your job easier for unlocking the rest of the cells if they're all busy with me, right?"

"'Daimyo?'" She arched a brow, the word not familiar to her. At least she knew what a daikon was. That is, if it was the same root vegetable that grew on the island nation of Rouge back in her world. With that grin though, she had a feeling that "daimyo" wasn't another vegetable.

"But I can see how a meal like this can keep morale up among troops. And given a healthy meal can also help keep their energy up as well."

"It's a name for a lord of a fief," Masamune explained, wondering what lords were called in Rose's world when he asked that question but not asking then and there. Instead he focused on the other thing she was saying, enjoying the light conversation between bites of the shared meal.

"It's all of that, and it's worth it to see people enjoying their food like that. I'm hoping to learn about the different ways it's prepared here too, since it looks like it's a lot of western cooking and preparation."

Rose shook her head some, now that she realized his joke. "That is a horrible pun then. Do you often cut down other lords?" Back during the trials, she saw how easily and quickly he was to draw one of his swords. She had met other warriors like that, but Masamune gave off a different vibe from them.

"The food here is very similar to what if often found back in my home world. Though some of the spices are different. What you made though, reminds me of the food native to Rouge, an island nation that I had visited several times."

"When I have to. Usually it's only when they're too stubborn to back down against Nobunaga, or are otherwise doing more harm than good in their positions with an unwillingness to give up that power."

He was eager enough to change the topic though, and he couldn't help feeling a little more warm inside when he mentioned the food, "Yeah? Japan, the land I'm from, is an island nation as well. Maybe they're connected in a strange way."

"Nobunaga?" So he actually served that other samurai warrior from the sound of it. Or at least was allied to him. She seen them talk to one another over the network but never paid attention to what they spoke about. Thus it didn't occur to her that they met before coming to this realm

Ros gave bit of a shrug. "Perhaps they could have some connection. The food is similar but the clothing you wear is different from those I have seen in Rouge. Then again, the only ones I have met from Japan were samurai, so I am not sure how the rest of the population dresses."

"I shouldn't be surprise that you've met him, he's mentioned you before," Masamune responded with a smile, going back to his food briefly, "I'm an ally of his, but functionally I'm also a vassal. He's the head of everything in our alliance, but that doesn't mean he does everything."

At the comment about his clothing however, he couldn't help looking at his own clothes, taking a moment to really think it over before commenting, "I guess our armor can be intimidating, but because of our positions we're also expected to dress certain ways. That's part of what Nobunaga's trying to end, but we still have to get there."

"He did?" That was a little surprising. "He and I arrived in this realm at around the same time. When I first met him I had to tickle him in order to get him untangled from some enchanted vines. I had no idea he was a lord or even the head of an alliance." Especially considering how childish he always seems to act around her. It was almost kind of scary to think of him as any kind of ruler.

She nodded. That made sense, since most of her world was like that when it came to the difference between nobility and commoners. "Samurai do not exist in my world, not even on Rouge. The island does not even have a real ruling class system." It made the small island nation stand out from the rest of Endiness. And other countries never really bothered it since it didn't have many resources to offer, with the exception of one thing. "Rouge is known for their martial arts schools though. In fact, the master of the school is usually the head of the community the school is located in. Haschel, a fellow Dragoon, is one such master."

Masamune nodded in response to her asking if Nobunaga talked about her, but it was when she mentioned tickling him that Masamune choked briefly, taking a moment to catch his breath before he started laughing and laughing hard.

"When you did what? And he let you get away with it?"

It seemed like any continued discussion about Rouge would have to wait, if only because Rose's interactions with Nobunaga were far too distracting.

Well that was an amusing reaction. Apparently Nobunaga did have some kind of reputation when it came to being tickled.

"Well, when the vines dropped him, he did say something along the lines that he wasn't sure if he wanted to thank me or kill me." She gave a bit of a shrug like the threat on her life wasn't a big deal.

"The times when I tickled him, his hands were restrained so he really didn't have a way to resist or stop me." Yes she said "times," meaning she tickled the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven more than once.

"Times? So more than once?" Masamune asked, still seeming far too amused over this. He kind-of had an inkling about Nobunaga like this, but it was too funny that Rose had gone and confirmed it.

"I'm surprised you tried it even if he was restrained. Nobunaga isn't exactly well-known for his mercy."

"You were not the only one I ended up freeing from the stocks during the trials. He had annoyed me several days before, so I took advantage of him being in the stocks and tickled him for a few seconds before freeing him." She gave a small smirk, knowing how petty she was being at the time. "I even recorded it with the smartphone device I have."

She gave a bit of a shrug. "I think he knows that I do not scare easily and I know how to handle myself."

He couldn't help laughing again, having set aside his chopsticks for the moment so he could listen and converse more attentively, "Even still, it's surprising to hear it about him -- especially from knowing him up close. But not scaring easily is a good way to make him take an interest in you, so you might find him trying to recruit you later."

Rose gave a sigh at that. "Perhaps that is the reason why he seems to bother me at every chance he gets." He almost started to sound like a pesky little brother that she never had.

"Dare I ask what he would recruit me for?"
