June Catch-All for Masamune
🧙 WHO: Masamune & OPEN
⚔️️ WHAT: Catch-All for June! Quests and TDM Prompts within for the moment
🕒 WHEN: Month of June
🗺️ WHERE: All Around Camelot
⚠️ WARNINGS: Possible violence/gore, possible curse language, will add more as necessary
1. Overgrowth
A baby octopus that turned into a giant monster in a man's house. It sounded like a good test for his magic, some good practice for his swordsmanship, and a good opportunity to get a real fight in this place. But it looked like he wasn't the only one taking on this particular job.
It got Masamune to shoot a wild grin over at the person with him, standing some distance away from the house for the moment.
"Ready to have some fun?"
2. Ship Wreckers
Masamune was eager to go diving, being prepared to enter the water with the exception of one thing... He had no way to make it possible for him to breathe underwater, at least not yet. So, at least at first, he was looking around the beach once it was announced that they were going to the ship under there for a scavenger hunt. And that was when he spotted someone.
"Hey, are you headed down too? Mind if I tag along?"
If this person couldn't create air for them, he'd just find someone else to drag with them who could. The more the merrier for this kind of thing, right?
3. Hoist the Flags
Now it was time to try and find someone with a similar item to his, but that was proving to be more of a hassle than initially thought. Especially since he was having to keep his head above water at that point, else he risked getting the salt water under his eyepatch. It might have been a closed wound, but getting salt in there was still unpleasant.
He just looked at the item in his hand then, a rusted candlabra, before holding it up and shouting.
"HEY! Anyone else got one of these?"
Because that was certainly the best way to get attention, right?
4. Beach Episode
It was probably unusual to walk around the beach in (seemingly) nothing but a towel like one would in the hot springs (at least, if you were trying to preserve modesty), but that was exactly what he was doing. He had to wonder how long it would take for people to notice that he was wearing a pair of deep blue swim trunks underneath, and in equal measure he had to wonder how many people would yell at him for his supposed lack of decency. Still, after working to clean up and prepare the ship for the traders, he deserved a little fun.
Which meant Masamune was wandering around, observing games, trying barbeque recipes, complimenting people on their choice in swimwear, splashing others in the water, and overall he was just having a fun time. Anyone care to join him?
Or, maybe you're the unlucky victim to a water stream straight to your back, with Masamune only wearing a huge grin and holding a rather large water gun proudly. These were a lot of fun to play with!
5. Roaring Rescuers
It couldn't all be fun and games for one Date Masamune. Through the grapevine (or through a very reliable 'kitsune'), he had heard about the underground fighting ring. While a part of him would have liked to participate in the fights themselves, even Masamune... Occasionally... Could understand the meaning of stealth. If he had to.
Masamune wasn't sneaking in alone, but by the time they reached the Fogueria, he just got the biggest (and possibly most dangerous smile) he could have.
"How about I take this thing into the arena with a bang? That should make your job easier for unlocking the rest of the cells if they're all busy with me, right?"
6. Wildcard
For prompts other than the above. Let me know if you're interested in something else!

Closed to Rose
He was just finishing up on the spread when he heard knocking on the door, and he couldn't help smiling a little while he was shouting, "It's open!"
Unfortunately, he might not have caught Shogetsu's getting into position near the door, but pouncing on the person there would definitely be good practice for the tiger cub!

That did, however, make her stick out on the beach as everyone else around her seemed to be running around in their underwear. Sturm was strapped over her back while she observed everything going on.
This was far too close for her comfort. Her senses were in overdrive searching for any potential threats. She knew there wouldn't be any here, at least not in the same sense, but it was difficult to undo the last few years of complete caution her life had to revolve around.
Withdrawing, the gunner moved back through the crowd... That was until a stream of water hit against her back. Eyes narrowing with intense focus, the emotion bled from her expression as Elza spun around. In a single fluid motion she had Sturm in her grip and pointed at her 'attacker's' heart. Finger squeezing the trigger, a flash of recognition sparked in her gaze as she paused.
"You." She hadn't yet decided if she would complete the action. The man was armed with a gun which was a threat she couldn't take lightly. She had no way yet of knowing exactly how harmless the gun was. However their brief meeting not long ago was all that gave her pause from firing.

Masamune's smile faded a little, and while he wasn't really worried about the gun pointed at him... He also didn't really want to get closer for now.
He held his own 'gun' back, letting the bulbous water chamber of it rest on his shoulder as he held the barrel skyward. A pull of his own trigger, and it showed a spurt of water shooting straight up, said water falling harmlessly back onto Masamune's head.
"If I thought you'd react like that, I probably wouldn't have taken the shot to begin with."
Re: 1
He wasn't about to wait for Nobunaga either, instead making to walk through the door and into the Kraken's (current) territory. It'd be a lot of fighting in tight spaces... But that was a part of what made it so exciting, especially since he had no idea where the tentacles would start coming from.

Well, it was not going to happen again tonight. This was just a meal he offered as a thank you for helping him during the trials, and nothing more. She even decided not to wear her usual leather armor. Instead she just wore black jeans and a grey tank top. Nothing fancy. But she still had her sword with her, since she would feel naked without it.
Once she knocked on his door, it didn't take him long to tell her to come in. So of course she just walked right in, not expecting the bundle of orange and black fur to come flying at her.
"What in Soa's name!?" Yep! Rose just got pounce by a tiger cub.
no subject
Shogetsu didn't seem to think he'd done anything wrong, instead chuffing in greeting and butting his head against Rose's cheek. Apparently, someone decided he liked Rose!
no subject
"No, I am fine." She started to scratch Shogestu behind the ear. "He just surprised me, is all." Though she probably had a couple of scratches, since her arms were bare.
no subject
"Here. I don't think those're bad enough for bandages, but apparently you're supposed to treat cat scratches right away and I know Ieyasu'd give me an earful if I didn't have this stuff on hand with Shogetsu around."
Granted, Ieyasu tended to give him an earful about a lot of stuff anyway, but this was an easily preventable one that he'd rather circumvent even if the other warlord wasn't there at the moment.
no subject
"I take it this Ieyasu is a healer back in your world?"
no subject
He gave Shogetsu a little chin-scratch once the tiger cub was on the floor again, smiling for him before going to wash his hands. A small plate was set on the floor near the kitchen area's counter, some small chunks of raw red meat set there for the now-very excited cub. Another wash of his hands, and he was putting together their meals into separate plates and bowls before putting Rose's, then his food on the table.
It was a little strange for him to be using western furniture, and his own food had a set of chopsticks placed next to it (he was still getting the hang of a knife and fork, he'd use those in front of others when he had it down), but Rose's would have both chopsticks and western utensils -- he didn't know which one she used, but he did know the latter was a lot more common in Camelot whether he liked it or not.
"This is pretty close to something I can whip up at home, though some of the spices are different. I still think it turned out all right, but let me know if something could be better."
He was confident in his skills, of course! But any time using a new spice or changing up a recipe was at least a little bit of a gamble, and just because something tasted okay to him didn't mean it was good. Unless she was like Mitsuhide, but he somehow doubted that.
no subject
"Do you think I'm the type of person who cares what others think of me?" She asked, expression unreadable, while keeping her gaze trained on his hand and where that strange gun was pointed.
Muscles tensing in readiness when he squeezed the trigger, Elza watched in confusion as liquid spurted from the chamber and dumped itself harmlessly on top of his head.
Water?
Her head tilted ever-so-subtly to one side as her mind tried to understand the situation. He was obviously posing no threat or had any harmful intentions, but a harmless gun was such a foreign concept to her.
The moments ticked on before she finally lowered Sturm. There was still much about this world that she didn't understand. Smoothly moving to hook the long rifle over her back, she regarded his weapon thoughtfully. "What is the purpose of such a gun?"
no subject
"I am sure it will be fine." Rose wasn't exactly a picky eater after all. As long as it was edible, she wouldn't really mind if the food wasn't exactly to her taste. But this smelled really good though... Honestly, she never would have thought that he would be the cooking type.
She picked up a fork, (she's only used chopsticks a few times and wasn't really good with them), and picked of a bit of meat. Her eyes widen when she took a bite.
"This is really good!"
4 And I had to make this icon just for this tag!
Such amusing toys these water guns! With a few pumps, he could send a stream of water right at some one once he pulled the trigger. And to aim with them was very easy. Especially easy for an expert marksmen like Mitsuhide. No one was safe from him. That includes other members of the Oda Forces.
It didn't take long for him to spot Masamune. Though he did wonder why the other warlord was wearing a towel instead of the swim wear they were magically provided. Oh well, it didn't matter. The other man was going to get wet anyway!
He gave his gun a few pumps and then took aim. Soon a stream of cold water went towards the back of Masamune's head!
no subject
Still, he saw her calming down and that let him wear a familiar smile, holding the gun in hand before shrugging, "Someone thought it'd be entertaining to soak each other from a distance, I guess. I'm not sure I get it either, but I can't deny that it is pretty fun."
no subject
In spite of himself he smiled, seemingly happy to just watch her for now. Granted, he didn't keep staring and began to eat himself, but it didn't stop him from conversing as they ate.
"What was the food like in your home? Any good homecooked meals?"
lmao perfect
"I'm going to get you for that, you slick bastard!"
Masamune didn't seem to care that the towel was starting to slip from his waist, but hopefully Mitsuhide would get the little peek at blue underneath it. If the towel fell away, it shouldn't have mattered, right?
Then again, maybe the fact that Masamune was pumping up his own gun and taking aim at Mitsuhide was a little bit more urgent.
no subject
"I was constantly travelling back in my home world. Most meals that I took were whatever the tavern or inn I was staying at provided or whatever travel rations I had on me. The times when I did have to cook for my self it was whatever I was able to catch over an open fire, and cooked to the point were I knew I would not get food poison." Master chef she was not.
"Though, most taverns did provide pretty good meals. Mostly stews since that would have been easier to serve to several guests."
no subject
That just reminded him of his own men, whose faces brightened up whenever he brought them rations. And Rose was making the same sort of face, showing the satisfaction that a good hot meal gave -- even if it wasn't quite a smile, from what he could tell.
"Really though, I'm glad you like it. That's probably the best part about cooking for me."
no subject
He knew that the One-Eyed Dragon was going to retaliate quickly, so he ducked behind a large rock that was near by. Before he fired he knew he would need cover shortly after.
"I would like to see you try! I could use a few more laughs!"
He pumped his gun a few more times before peeking around the rock and sending another stream to Masamune.
no subject
She took another bite of food. If he looked closely, he could see the corners of her mouth turning up some in a small smile. It wasn't an over exaggeration that she really liked the meal. The last time she had something this good, she and her fellow Dragoons were guests at a royal palace. This meal was literally fit for a king.
"How did you get into cooking? Back in my world, lords and knights rarely have interest in the culinary arts."
Why is he like this. I'm serious, why is he like this.
"I picked it up as a hobby while I was younger, and I just continued with it because it's a useful skill to have. It helps keep morale high too, when the men are well-fed."
It was a simple enough explanation, but he couldn't help adding with a cheeky grin, "I also really like cutting things, whether it's a daikon or a daimyo."
Simple answer is "because he's Masamune"
"But I can see how a meal like this can keep morale up among troops. And given a healthy meal can also help keep their energy up as well."
Sorry for the delay. We had a terrible news weekend.
Elza eyed the gun in his hand with a mixture of curiosity and caution. A gun that shot water for fun. That concept seemed so far removed from their teachings that it almost seemed unreal. The dampness along her back though was proof that it had been indeed harmless though.
The gunner approached him just after he finished speaking. That gun looked so foreign to her. Did it handle the same way as one that shot bullets? The lack of length meant that it would balance far different to Sturm and the weight distribution would change as well.
Elza stopped a few steps in front of where he stood and gestured to the water gun. "May I?"
no subject
He'd probably miss, but it was worth trying to take the shot before running after him.
no subject
"It's all of that, and it's worth it to see people enjoying their food like that. I'm hoping to learn about the different ways it's prepared here too, since it looks like it's a lot of western cooking and preparation."
No need to apologize, life happens
no subject
The gun itself felt brittle in her hold, and the water visible through the bulbous magazine at the back kept throwing off the weight distribution.
"How odd," she murmured more to herself than to her companion. It was obvious by the way that she was looking it over that she had a keen interest in firearms. Reaching up to trail her fingers over the end of the gun's barrel. Giving the trigger a light squeeze, she could feel the water trickling down along her fingers.
His offer seemed to snap her out from assessing the weapon in hand. "I could never. A gun belongs to it's rightful owner," She softly but seriously said while offering the water gun back to him. Elza hadn't meant to become that absorbed in her observations. "What's its name?"
no subject
He stays behind the rock and waits. Once Masamune comes around he fires another blast of water at the One-Eyed Dragon's face before running off again!
no subject
"The food here is very similar to what if often found back in my home world. Though some of the spices are different. What you made though, reminds me of the food native to Rouge, an island nation that I had visited several times."
no subject
"You've got an interest in guns?"
no subject
Granted, this wouldn't be nearly as much fun if it were a real gun duel for several reasons, but at least their lord could be amused by the antics later.
no subject
He was eager enough to change the topic though, and he couldn't help feeling a little more warm inside when he mentioned the food, "Yeah? Japan, the land I'm from, is an island nation as well. Maybe they're connected in a strange way."
no subject
Ros gave bit of a shrug. "Perhaps they could have some connection. The food is similar but the clothing you wear is different from those I have seen in Rouge. Then again, the only ones I have met from Japan were samurai, so I am not sure how the rest of the population dresses."
no subject
At the comment about his clothing however, he couldn't help looking at his own clothes, taking a moment to really think it over before commenting, "I guess our armor can be intimidating, but because of our positions we're also expected to dress certain ways. That's part of what Nobunaga's trying to end, but we still have to get there."
no subject
"Of sorts," Elza offered unhelpfully to start with. "They are not common where I am from and only a small handful are in possession of them."
no subject
She nodded. That made sense, since most of her world was like that when it came to the difference between nobility and commoners. "Samurai do not exist in my world, not even on Rouge. The island does not even have a real ruling class system." It made the small island nation stand out from the rest of Endiness. And other countries never really bothered it since it didn't have many resources to offer, with the exception of one thing. "Rouge is known for their martial arts schools though. In fact, the master of the school is usually the head of the community the school is located in. Haschel, a fellow Dragoon, is one such master."
no subject
"When you did what? And he let you get away with it?"
It seemed like any continued discussion about Rouge would have to wait, if only because Rose's interactions with Nobunaga were far too distracting.
no subject
"Well, when the vines dropped him, he did say something along the lines that he wasn't sure if he wanted to thank me or kill me." She gave a bit of a shrug like the threat on her life wasn't a big deal.
"The times when I tickled him, his hands were restrained so he really didn't have a way to resist or stop me." Yes she said "times," meaning she tickled the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven more than once.
no subject
"I'm surprised you tried it even if he was restrained. Nobunaga isn't exactly well-known for his mercy."
no subject
She gave a bit of a shrug. "I think he knows that I do not scare easily and I know how to handle myself."
I thought I already got this tag!
"Not bad. Apparently you do have decent aim." He laughed some as he ducked out of the stream to fire another blast at Masamune.
no subject
no subject
And yet, while Masamune was clearly talking about the good traits of guns as weapons, some part of him had checked out of the conversation. No, more than that, it was like he was almost repulsed by the topic. The colourful pretend guns were fine, it was just water and it was so wildly different that he could disassociate, but...
Well, at least she didn't smell like gunpowder (that he could tell). That helped things.
Finally he took the water gun back, although he didn't do so without adding, "By the way, I don't own that. They were handing them out near the entrance to the beach, allowing for anyone to borrow them if they want to. You can always grab one if you want to try it for yourself."
It happens!
"You're gonna pay for that, Mitsuhide!"
If he wasn't fired up before, he certainly was then.
no subject
"You keep saying that, Masamune, but I have yet to see you do anything about it."
Yes he was very well aware that he was taunting the other man, but that was what made everything so fun.
no subject
"Dare I ask what he would recruit me for?"
no subject
There was something different about him after he answered. She couldn't put her finger on it but the air around him certainly seemed to change. Perhaps something she'd said had triggered a memory? She'd had those moments here or there.
Elza spoke none of her thoughts though and instead pulled her hand back after the water gun was taken. "No, I couldn't," Elza said in return. It still felt wrong holding a gun that wasn't hers. Besides the weapons weren't toys.
