Honey Over Vinegar (TDM) – first week of May
- [ Trees that grow cute cookies ripe for the pickin' isn't exactly the wildest thing that Stella's seen in Avalon so far, but it is probably the thing that has inspired the most glee in her. Because... come on. Picking cookies from trees. It's straight up like something out of a picture book for kids. She loves it.
She's pretty diligent about picking as many as she can, with the novelty of picking cookies off trees being more than enough to keep her on task. It's taking an absolutely herculean effort to not crunch down some of these cookies, though, and partway into the tournament, her stomach gives a pretty hearty rumble and she whines to herself. ]
Ohmigod, this is like torture! I'm gonna starve out here. I just know it.
[ Stella manages, presumably, not to starve out there and drags herself through the rest of the tournament without too much fuss. The instant she gets the okay to start eating cookies, though? Homf. She hoovers up like three or four of them at top speed. She's starving.
Fortunately, she not quite greedy enough to demolish all those cookies by herself, so she'll be sidling up to people through the rest of the day, brandishing her basket of cookies at them. ]
Hey, d'you wanna share some of these with me? I'm gonna get majorly sick if I try and eat them all by myself, so...
Holo, Goodbye (Quest) – second week of May
- [ The idea of a rainbow-coloured holographic river full of fairies is so comically Stellacore that she probably would've been off like a shot the instant she heard about this regardless. But the details of the quest are what really give her pause. She's made some good friends here in Avalon and having somebody not just from home but another one of the Prism Maidens here has done a lot to keep her on an even keel. But then sometimes she sees stuff like this and thinks... wow, she misses home. She really misses her dad.
So it's that more than anything, really, that gets her down to the riverbed. She's got a bag for collecting cool rocks and her phone ready for taking pictures and videos and she's ready to go all out. If you happen to be hanging around as well, prepare to have Stella suddenly pop up in your vicinity, looking charged up and determined. ]
You're not busy, right? Could you give me a hand? Help me find some really cool looking rocks! Like, maybe some that have some really cool holo stuff going on or ones that have weird shapes. Just some really cool rocks!
[ You heard the girl.
When she's not going through rocks to try and find the One Perfect Rock to return to the quest giver and her grandma, she's darting around, taking photos and videos here there and everywhere to try and capture as much of the phenomenon as she can. In fact, she gets so enthused about it that in the midst of trying to get a particularly Cool Shot, she looses her footing on the rocks she's balanced herself on and just sort of pratfalls right into the river with an enormous sploosh. Idol down! ]
Phoenix Roost – all through May
- [ If you're a regular at the Phoenix Roost then Stella will very quickly have become a familiar face with how often she turns up to drink fancy coffee, eat baked goods and leech off the wifi. She'll park herself in an out-of-the-way table for the day and tappy-tap away at the secondhand laptop she's picked up but it's not entirely clear what she's working on, given that she tends to keep to herself a bit while she's here.
Usually she seems like she's having a relatively okay time, but right now it seems like whatever little project she's working on has been stalled. She's staring deadeyes at her screen with a furrowed brow and furiously chewing on the straw for her disgustingly sugary drink in a futile attempt to redirect her frustration.
Eventually she grooooaaans and scoots her chair back a bit so she can rub at her eyes. Evidently, staring down whatever she's doing isn't actually solving whatever problem she's having. She looks around the cafe and immediately upon spotting someone In Range, she begins to wave them over. ]
Hey, excuse me! Could you come over here real quick? I've been working on this for like, a week, and I just don't even know how it looks anymore. I need a fresh set of eyes! So just tell me what you think!
[ She tilts her laptop screen back a bit to give a better view of her work. It's a poster or a flyer or something called the "Avalon Performers Association" that lists some days and times and information and all that good stuff about the little group Stella's been putting together.
It's... serviceable, but the fact that she's gone for a rainbow colour scheme, even one in pastel, is a little much. It definitely has some Graphic Design Is My Passion energy. ]

Uuggghhh, you're right... maybe I'll just pick a couple colours that look good together and go with that...
[ She starts clicking around on the poster to start making some changes. RIP, pastel yellow, you were a real one. ]
What's the kinda thing that'd make you stop and take a look?
no subject
but then Stella asks Kate what would catch her eye, and the honest answer is... probably not one Stella could legally manage here, what with all the enchantments preventing shit that Kate definitely did as a teenager. )
... Colour-wise?
( hm, well. what catches her eye when she's shopping... )
Bright shit, I guess.

[ She hums and hrms to herself for a minute or so, before going back to the laptop and just... jacking the saturation on all the colours right up. GRAPHIC DESIGN IS HER PASSION. ]
How about this? It's pretty eye-catching! I think you'd be able to spot it at a distance!
[ She manages to keep a sincere face about this for maybe .5 seconds before promptly dissolving into giggles. ]
no subject
Not wrong.
( she watches the young woman dissolve into laughter, not finding it funny but... hey. if she's enjoying herself Kate's not going to stop her.
and maybe, just maybe, she's having an idea; )
What if the colour were accents and not the background? ( her place back home has white walls (mostly because they were painted that colour when she moved in) and a surprising amount of colourful decor and she thinks that works. could work here. )
no subject
Ohohhh...! Like a... [ She mimes furiously, a little too excited by the sudden flash of inspiration to actually Use Her Words properly. ] A border! Oh man, and then we could do the same with the colours and– okay, I'm gonna try that!
[ And back to furiously clicking at everything at top speed it is. ]
All the text and backgrounds and stuff can be white but the borders and the accents and whatever else, they can all be super colourful!
no subject
Stella really is something else. )
Sure.
( wait... run that by her again. )
... The background and the text are white?
no subject
[ It's definitely an improvement over the eye-searing 1.0 version of the poster and the text is at least a lot more legible but with Stella at the wheel those Graphic Design is My Passion vibes aren't going anywhere. ]
no subject
... better.
( that's a low bar, though. ) You running this whole... Association?
( maybe, as the chair, Stella needs to delegate. )
no subject
[ There's no kind way of saying it, but you really can tell. ]
no subject
You ever thought about asking them if they can do stuff like this?
( one of the few things the military did teach her is that everyone in a group should have a purpose or a role. no one person should be doing ninety percent of anything. )

( Kate gets it, and it's part of why she was never really one to be placed in charge of shit back in the army. but not being in that position makes it easier to point out the folly in Stella's thinking. )
