[He'd noticed the problem fairly quickly after making his way down from his room. He'd been planning to get to work but standing water in the lobby quickly changed that decision. This would be the natural result of all the rain, he supposed. While flooding wasn't something he'd dealt with, he had prepared for it, the results of living in a sewer on a volcanic planet. But he could never recall Nevarro getting that bad (though he could have been off-world if it did. No one really complained to him).

Regardless, the Inn is where he's staying right now and he can't really leave it in the lurch, so he goes to help. It's a long day of salvaging, and trying to get rid of the water. For the moment, he's leaning on the front desk, taking a short break.]

I think there's a few rooms left to salvage.

Yep. Help me salvage my stuff if you're just standing around. [ She doesn't really know who he is but if he's standing at the desk then he's not busy. ] That's the last time I leave to go help with some stupid quest.

[ Emerald is looking pretty miserable. She only has pants and heels and is trying to carry her stuff out to the lobby. She definitely didn't think when she left she was going to come back to most of her stuff floating on the floor of her inn room. ]

Which room's yours and where am I taking it to? One of the upper floors?

[ He definitely was taking a break, but Emerald was decidedly cranky so.. she's less than concerned. ]

You would think they would have some kind of plan for something like this. And yeah, just take it to the first unlocked door.

[ She doesn't really have "friends" per se, so she's just going to squat. ]

Got it. Anything specific I should look for or just grab everything and go?

[It sucks when one of your main character traits is begrudgingly helpful.]

Guessing rain like this doesn't happen often here.

Probably not. The only other time it's happened since I was here was when we all accidentally performed a ritual because of some fairies messing around with us.

[ Well, she didn't perform it. She was busy pickpocketing barely dressed people in the middle of winter. But she's not going to give up her alibi for that night. ]

Whatever you can carry. There's not much, it should be fine with two people.

[ She doesn't get attached to a lot of stuff, she probably won't need more than one trip with an extra pair of arms.. ]

[That earns a slight head tilt from Din as he files away that knowledge. Really it just sounds like something he probably shouldn't dig too deep in.]

Do you think someone did that again and it led to this mess?

[But he'll gather what he can, particularly anything that looks big or awkward.]

From what I gathered, that only worked because a bunch of people did it. This is probably just a regular, annoying natural disaster.

[ Unfortunately, not everything can be blamed on someone. Sometimes, life just sucks. It's a lesson Emerald's well familiar with. ]

And we just happened to get stuck in the middle of it.

[Well, hopefully it only rolls around once in a while. If this is something to constantly look forward to, Din might need to find a new place to stay for the time being.]

That's how it always goes, huh? I'd like to meet one of those people who lucks out with everything, just so I can slap them upside the head.

[ Not heavily, but like. they deserve it for being lucky all the time. ]

[ To be fair, it's been less stressful here than back home for her this whole time. ]

I guess. Only, apparently it doesn't. I was talking to someone that said I could stay here 50 years and not age a day. Kind of hoping it won't take that long to clean up this mess though.

[That's...slightly alarming. He doesn't have that kind of time. Frozen or not he was in the middle of a rescue.]

Don't we all. I think they picked the people with the least convenient situations to bring here.

[ water doesn't usually bother Klee too much - puddles are lots of fun to play in, and several of her bomb formulas are waterproof, making storms no problem for when she wants to blow some things up. what does bother her is when the water is indoors, which means this flood needs to be taken care of!

unfortunately, she is just one girl with no understanding of plumbing or how exactly to stop a flood. what she understands is that there's water inside that needs to go outside, and she has just the tool to do so!

that tool is a metal bucket she's procured from one of the Inn's supply closets, which is filled up with water that she's scooped from the ground. it's quite literally a drop in the bucket compared to the severity of the flooding, but Din will see her hard at work while he's on his break. ]

Gotta... get it outside...

[ it's a bit difficult to carry something so heavy, but she does her best to get to the Inn's entrance without spilling much. with a hearty swing of her arms, she tosses the bucket's contents out the door! ]

Hyah!

[ she seems quite proud of her work, but she knows there's much more to be done, so she gets back to it. it hasn't dawned on her that she isn't exactly helping, but... maybe it's the thought that counts? ]

[Din watches this for a moment, a little impressed, a little amused, a little exasperated. But it is all hands on deck at the moment and he supposes he should get back to work.

He'll wander over as she's bringing the next bucket.]

Need a hand?

[ Klee had been so focused on her task that she hadn't immediately noticed Din's presence, but she lights up when she sees him. another set of hands would make things go a lot faster, right? between the two of them they could definitely clear everything out! ]

Yeah! We need to get this water out, or everything's gonna get soggy and ruined!

[ maybe she's going about this the wrong way, but it sure makes sense to her. ]

[Din glances around, kind of figuring that some of that might already be a lost cause. And he doesn't disagree, but there's another way to do this.]

Well, you're right about that. But water's also coming in, so we should probably stop that first.

[ it probably is, but that doesn't mean that everything is a lost cause! she's going to do her best to save everything that she can - even if it doesn't work, she has to try. ]

Oh... I guess that's true. [ ... ] Where's the water coming from?

I'm not sure. There's probably a leak somewhere. But if the floor's this bad, it's likely from the ground.

We'd know if it was from the roof.

[It narrows things down a bit, but they'll have to start looking.]

[ a leak from the ground, huh? that's a puzzling thought; Klee can't quite wrap her head around how that would work. ]

How do you fix a leak like that? We can't lift the whole building up... right?

[ maybe if everyone in the city tried really REALLY hard, they could... she kind of wants to see that happen. ]

[There's probably a magical solution to that as well, but Din's not going to be the one to think of it. Never mind a more machinery based solution either.]

For now, we probably need to find a crack or something. And block it.

Maybe we could ask everyone for help...

[ they have a whole network to do something like that, right? and obviously everyone would lend a hand, because it's the right thing to do! plus, no one likes getting their shoes wet.

but then Din brings up an alternative, and that sounds a little more manageable! one little crack shouldn't be hard to find. ]

Okay! Klee will find it! [ aaaaand there she goes. where, you ask? even she doesn't know... maybe it's best to follow her. ]

[This being the rain. It's one thing to block a leak, another thing to fix it.

And yup, he's following. He knows better than to leave small children unattended. The whole building could just collapse if you're not careful.]
