Relaxing, eating, exploring

[Sokka is exploring the place to his hearts content. There are a lot of new things for him to find and figure out. He's definitely not ignoring anything, he's just curious about his surroundings.

His winger lemur friend, Momo, is also with him and eating whatever fruit he's handed with content 'prrp' noises.]

Yeah, this isn't so bad. I need to find a job and all, but for now life's pretty easy. And this place is really interesting.

[Sokka is eating a meat skewer while walking around, content as well with the meal choice he made.]


Training

[Finally! Sokka has entered the training grounds. He's not determined to train. Maybe he will actually become a magic user yet-

What is he doing with a black sword, one may ask. Well, he's training his sword skills, of course. Waving it around in specific stances and hitting some training dummies set up in the training grounds.

Once he's taken a break he moves onto practicing throwing his boomerang.

... yeah, looks like elemental magic is still being ignored.]


Arguing

I told you, I don't want to practice magic. Not right now! Go somewhere else!

[Sokka is walking away from his familiar, who is set on chasing his partner. He may be small but he is fast!]

Sokka, this is important. You have to accept you have these powers now-

No! Every time I do something, it's fire! If I know all the elements, why can't I do anything else?! Fix that and I might consider it.

If you just practice your fire, you will learn others too.

[Sokka stops. Sighs and looks at his tiny familiar.]

But why does it have to be fire of all things?

Considering the boomerang curves, it would be good to make it into a curve... but you can decide how far apart the dummies are.

[Sokka shrugs.]

Here, no. It just feels unnatural for me to use magic after watching everyone else do it for my whole life. Especially elemental.

[He nods. Right, a curve. He'll go do that. Though as he does he keeps talking.]

Is that because there's some significance to elemental magic? Or is it because it is too similar or dissimilar to what you've seen?

... similar. There are people in my world who can use the four basic elements and one who can use them all. We call him the Avatar. So basically, I'm currently an Avatar.

So that's how it is.

[It's a phrase that's said not unlike a simple 'I see'. He finishes setting up the targets before stepping back over to Sokka.]

What does the Avatar do? Besides wielding elemental magic, that is.

Avatar is basically a bridge between our world and the Spirit world, who also tries to keep the world in balance. So definitely not everyone's job.

That does sound like a lot of responsibility.

[He himself wouldn't want that job.] Luckily in this place such abilities doesn't come with that much responsibilities... [He paused, thoughtful.] Although, if everyone who had elemental magic were to share that responsibility wouldn't it be easier?

Maybe. [Sokka shrugs.] But it doesn't exactly make it easier on my head to accept I can suddenly use the elements.

That's understandable.

[It can be a lot to wrap one's head around.] I think of magic as a another tool but where I'm from magic doesn't exist. The closest I know of are the curses of the Eighteen Tribes which could very well just be poison. For those who come from places where magic takes on a different meaning...it could be difficult to adjust.
