[open] catch-all log
🧙 WHO: Bennett and YOU!
⚔️️ WHAT: Catch-All log for the month of March
🕒 WHEN: March. All of it.
🗺️ WHERE: Various
⚠️ WARNINGS: None
[BOLD BUNNIES]
[Tracking down rabbits? Talk about easy! Bennett's got loads of experience hunting rabbits for food, surely it must be loads easier to just track one down and return it home, right?
...maybe not. As Bennett exits the tenth Bunny Cafe he's checked today, once again turning up nothing. Bennett stands in the doorway and hangs his head.]
Sheesh, these cafe breed faster than rabbits do!
[It seems, much like treasure, the rabbit remains beyond his grasp. Is this his bad luck at play? Or just a cunning bunny?]
[CROP AND ROTATE]
[Bennett has always seen his healing magic abilities as more of a burden than anything helpful. As nice as it was having the ability to take care of his own injuries quickly and easily now, he was the sort of person who would dive headfirst into battle, so not being able to charge in, sword wrapped in flames like he's used to doing just made him feel like he was less capable of holding his own now.
It did make him appreciate tasks like this, though, ones that explicitly called for his magic set, and not in a way that was just healing wounds. It let him feel... helpful. Like he could contribute in ways that weren't just being muscle.
...Not to say he isn't doing plenty of that. Over the course of the day at the farm, he helps clear the fields and till the soil to prep them for the next planting. But he also gets a chance to use his magic on the hay. All in all, a very busy day is had by him, catch him during any of these tasks or even help him out.]
[DRAG'N'DROP DRAGONS]
[The Spring Equinox seemed like a fun time with the way everyone in town seemed to be buzzing about it, Bennett couldn't help but feel nostalgic for home. Back in Mondstadt, this was probably about the time the Windblume festival would be starting up, packed with celebrations, revelry, activities, and of course, flowers.]
Ah! Over there! We should grab as many flowers as we can! We can always give the leftovers to other people!
[And speaking of flowers, gathering flowers was of the utmost importance right now. He's heard from people before that flowers have a language of their own, that they can convey very important meanings and feelings just by their color and look, but he never would have thought that language could be used to speak with dragons.]
...Do you really think we can talk to the dragons by making flower crowns?
[If only it had been that easy for the Traveler trying to quell Stormterror's rage.]
[LOCK, STOCK, AND BARREL]
[Games were an important part of any festival, and so was playing said games.]
Don't worry, I'll be fine, just roll me down the hill. I can handle getting banged up a little. This should be nothing compared to the injuries I've gotten back home!
[Probably not something you should casually admit to, Bennett. But he's already ducking his head down into the barrel. Let's do a barrel roll.]
[NO ESCAPE FROM HOPSCOTCH]
[This game reminds him of something he'd seen little kids playing around town back in Mondstadt sometimes. Not that he'd ever gotten to play himself, even back then his bad luck was rather well known, so it wasn't often he had chances to play with kids his own age. But now things were different! He could make his own choices and do what he wants! He could play hopscotch!
But now he was starting to question his decision, as pieces of the hopscotch board were slowly falling away, exposing giant holes leading (seemingly) to a bottomless pit. Was this his bad luck at play here, even ruining a simple child's game now?!]
Is this supposed to happen?!
[WILDCARD]
[Got something else? Make your own prompt or plot something with me!]

Razor
....But this place was different, everyone needed to work together and help each other out. And quite frankly, Bennett's strong sense of justice meant he couldn't just sit around and ignore a problem when he was able and willing and allowed to help. And thankfully, he had a friend who felt similarly.]
You understand the plan, right, Razor?
[Thanks to Razor's strong senses, they were able to tail their would-be thief back to the Inn. His work was pretty sloppy, so his trail was easy to pick up on. All that remained was intercepting him, apprehending him, and turning him in. Easy peasy? ...Right?]
no subject
And he's pretty sure he understood the plan. It's not like it was difficult. ]
Yes. No kill. Capture. Bring in. Get reward.
[ Very logical. He repeated it as if this was exactly what they discussed. As if Razor discusses anything. ]
Careful to stop from escape. If we catch asleep. Easy.
[ Maybe they'd get lucky! ...But probably not. ]
no subject
[Bennett places his hands on his hips, nodding to Razor. A bit straightforward and on the nose, but that was just how Razor spoke. And Bennett was pretty darn skilled at understanding Razor-speak.]
I'll go in first and try to find him. He'll probably try to run when he sees me, [or if Benny's bad luck strikes] and you'll be waiting for him here when he does!
no subject
[ Bennett was skilled, and Razor is glad that his friend understands that he gets it. They're both competent at things like this, so as long as the man's there, they'll get him. If he tries to escape, Razor is certain he can catch up to him. He'll do what he has to in order to get this job done right, after all. ]
Have your back, Bennett.
[ And he means that, too. Which of course everyone understands because Razor doesn't know how to be deceitful. ]
Go now.

Bold Bunnies
As he heard a familiar voice nearby, the brunette had to give a sigh.]
I'm guessing you're having a hard time too, aren't you?
no subject
Ah, Ken, you too, huh? [Bennett heaves a sigh, hanging his head.] I never thought tracking down a rabbit would be this hard.
no subject
[He said before looking at the nearby rabbit cafe.] Especially when the rabbits around here aren't very helpful. I can't tell if they're tricking me on purpose or they really don't want him to be caught.
[After all, they keep telling him to go right or left! He might be this way or that way! How was he suppose to keep track?]
no subject
[This was definitely proving to be troublesome. Who knew a rabbit could be so tricky?
but Bennett was an adventurer, and being an adventurer means being resourceful and always adapting.]
Well, this isn't really what i had in mind for our adventure together, but... How about we work together on this? Check it out, I've got a map!
[Bennett sits on the ground and pulls out a town map he'd managed to secure, with the different cafes across town circled on it, and the ones he'd been to so far crossed off.
Was there a phone app that could do this? Probably. Did Bennett know that? Absolutely not. Please save this boy from his technological ineptitude.]
If you show me where you've been so far, maybe we can narrow down our options here.

BARREL ROOOOOOOOLL
Whew! That should be fast enough. The barrel speeds towards a little ramp stuck inconspicuously in the ground, Karma holding his breath to see how much air Bennet will gain. ]
no subject
...Naturally, the person inside the fireball isn't exactly excited about this.]
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
[The flames weren't hot at all, but right now, the mind prevails above all, and the mind tells him that he is on fire and that is bad.
no subject
If soaring through the air stuck inside a barrel full of fire isn't terrifying enough, Bennett gets the pleasure of seeing a pair of giant sharp fangs pierce the top and bottom of the barrel through the middle and the entire thing plummeting to the ground, just short of smashing into smithereens. The barrel hurls straight up towards the sky again. Back down. Up. Down.
Karma watches as his giant seven headed naga attempts to shake Bennett out of the barrel, with limited success. ]
no subject
During one of the barrel's ascents, Bennett manages to pop off the lid of the barrel, sending it falling to the ground, hopefully not in the direction of Karma. It sure would be unlucky if it hit him, wouldn't it?
Once the barrel hits the ground on its 5th or so trip, Bennett, having successfully removed the lid, manages to rather unceremoniously spill out of the barrel out onto the grass in a crumpled heap of dizzy limbs.]
Urgh... I-I think I'm gonna be s...sick...

Bunnies
[That made things a little complicated.]
[So Nanaki follows Bennett out of the cafe and huffs in annoyance, his ears flicking.]
I'm starting to get sick of the scent of rabbit...
no subject
He was wrong.]
Man... I'm sorry. I thought for sure we could handle this.
no subject
[The way he says it is the same way a teenager might complain about a difficult chore.]
no subject
Come on, we can do this... We just need to change it up!
[Bennett stops to think here. They needed a new angle. Just hitting every cafe wasn't going to do it here. They needed... something else.]
Hey... Do you think your "superior nose" would do a better job if we went higher up instead of sticking to these narrow streets?

[Bennett was roused from his frustration over the job upon hearing a new voice speak out to him.]
I hope you've been having better luck than me.

Lock Stock and Barrel
[ This is just baffling to him. It isn't even the only person who has asked this of him! Why would someone nearly intentionally hurt themselves for a little but of perceived "fun." ]
no subject
[But legally he's a kid. A kid who's responsible for his own life every time he goes out into the world on an adventure. ...Yeah don't read into it too much.]
Secondly... Because it's fun? Haven't you ever competed in anything before?
no subject
Sparring. That is the only sort of competition I could think to compete in.

Dragons
They may have not crossed paths that often in the past but it'd be a lie to say he doesn't know of Bennett or hasnt spotted him around their beloved city here and there.
He tilts his head at the question though.]
Perhaps dragons are different in this world but I'm fairly certain Stormterror wouldn't have stand down on the account of some flowers.
[No that's way too easy. Also, hi.]
no subject
Huh... Yeah, I guess you're right about that. That sure was a crazy time...
[Bennett crouches down, picking a couple more flowers. His basket's loaded with quite an array of flowers. He probably should have been going for specific flowers instead of amassing a collection, but oh well.]
Oh, but I bet if Barbatos had showed up and gave him a bouquet of flowers as a gift, he'd have chilled out!
no subject
[There's a soft grunt at that. It's clear Diluc doubts that fully. A certain bard had even played a certain harp and well...that didn't work out for them either.
In the end, it was all solved but it wasn't by flowers or song.]
....Perhaps. It's hard to say now.
[He doesn't sound convinced at all but he is just going to leave it at that. He's not really interested in expanding on that topic or really talking about Barbatos at all. Let Bennett live in bliss]
