[open] what am I to be what is my calling!
š§ WHO: Izuku Midoriya & YOU!
āļø WHAT: Catch-all log for the month of March! Quests, open prompts and closed threads inside.
š WHEN: All throughout March.
šŗļø WHERE: Camelot and surrounding areas.
ā ļø WARNINGS: tba.
[a:
quest: run snaggle foot run]
[Snagglefoot Miffen is the name of the thief that has snatched up some precious gems from a local jewelry shop in Camelot. And if there is one thing that Izuku canāt tolerate as a student studying to be a hero? Itās crime, of course! When he had seen the task, he had signed up right away. Being away from his homeworld and his school hasnāt taken anything away from Izukuās determination to be a hero and to help out whenever he can.
But this thief is chalking it up to be quite the challenge. A slippery fellow that once Izuku gets a single lead is off before Izuku can reach the next one. Heās been tracking the man through the streets as fast as he can, but the thief seems to be one step ahead of him so far. The next lead means heāll be heading to the Red Springs Inn next. That means Izuku has to get there before he does.]
Alright, Iām not letting him get ahead of me this time. Even if Iām here... I still have to be. Plus Ultra!
[There is a flicker of magic as Izuku places his hands on a nearby tree. A flash and a bang later and the tree transmutes and grows into a twisted-looking wooden ladder with footholds and all. Izuku is then climbing up the ladder onto the roof of the nearby building and is then running and leaping from roof to roof. Better for the birdās eye view and to get to the Red Spring Inn faster! Occasionally, only stopping to transmute more branches and tall hanging trees into planks to use as a jumping point to the next roof or ledge!
Witness his alchemy trick or help him out!]
[b:
quest: farmers-r-us]
[Farming is still helping and Izuku is just glad that he can lend a hand. Alchemy magic also seems to be a good thing to have in this regard. Heās working with the local farmers with helping the new crops sprout. Heās slow at the work at first but heās getting better at it bit by bit. And when heās not helping with the crops himself he is also a healthy strong boy so moving supplies and hauling tools or crops is right up his alley too. The hard work feels nice!
What he doesnāt notice right away while heās working is the small next of pixies that have seemed to have nested in a corner of the field heās working in. One moment he is kneeling down to plant and work on some seedlings when his foot catches a part of the nest buried in the brush.]
Eh-??! [Whoosh!!
In an instant, the nest of pixies erupts like a swarm of bees flying around him in a pink and glittery haze! His hair flies up and sticks there as he blinks rapidly at the swarm whooshing all around him! He flails!]
Ah-!! Ack- AHHHHiiii!!
[How does he get the swarm ofbees pixies to stop?! Theyāre starting to chant some sort of magic or charm and the air is starting to spark!]
[c: š„¦ broadsword shopping]
[Being in a fantasy world like this and without his usual quirk Izuku has realized he needs a way to keep up with combat and battle without being able to use his usual superpowers. Alchemy isnāt always a combat type of magic (or at least he hasnāt quite honed a way to use it in a combative way just yet) so he thinks with a weapon that it would be a good way to supplement his skills.
And who doesnāt want a big as heck sword to go with this entire fantasy world vibe?? Like right out of a JRPG!?
Izuku is browsing a local blacksmith and weapons store. Looking at a row of the broadswords that might fit his style and his grip. Heās never bought a sword before so he is a little out of his league right now but looking at the weapons is just ⦠so freaking cool.]
Uaa... These swords are amazing! I canāt believe Iām really here and I can get oneā¦!
[d: š„¦ alchemy studying]
[Izuku is still very new to alchemy but he is getting the hang of transmuting organic matter. Wood, plants and the like came to him easily enough. But with his classmates learning their own magic he does want to try and see if he can study enough to help them as well. With Katsuki and Tsuyu both using light magic, he has figured that the faster he learns how to change and manipulate glass, metal and precious stones? The better.
And that is where Izuku is right now. Heās sitting on a bench outside as he tinkers with a handful of copper pieces and a container full of sand. Heās currently trying to transmute the copper pieces into different shapes and later trying to change the sand into proper glass lenses.
Holding the piece of copper in his hand Izuku suddenly winces as his magic flashes and burns his skin. He drops the copper piece with a clatter! This is going to take some practice...]
If I can get copper and sand to work right... I can start making magnifying lenses...
[Izuku is starting to mutter to himself!]
[e: š§ wildcard]
[got something else? feel free to toss it down here! or contact me over here on the cr meme for some plotting! more than happy to make some closed starters as well!]

[He's heard legends and stories of heroes, but there weren't really any superheroes in his world.]
Yes. I was a pup once too, you know. But back then, I thought my father was a coward and regretted being his son. But it turns out I just didn't have all the details to his story.
no subject
[Nanaki's expression that he used to regret being his father's soon makes him curious. But he doesn't want to step on any toes if Nanaki doesn't want to share of course!]
I- If you don't mind me asking... What happened?
no subject
[He's thinking of it in terms of cultural heroes or tales of heroic deeds.]
[At the question, Nanaki hims a little, his ears flicking. He debates not telling Izuku for a moment, remaining silent until they make it to the training grounds properly. But once they are in the practice area, he sits down, tail flicking.]
Before I was young, a rival clan attacked my home. When I was younger, I thought my father had run away when they attacked, leaving the rest of the denizens to fight. But in reality, he had gone to a rear entrance to fend the Gi Tribe off all alone, keeping them from invading Cosmo Canyon from behind. I had no idea until just two years ago.
[He lowers his head, ears angling down a bit.]
For almost fifty years I thought my father a coward, when really he was the bravest warrior of them all.
no subject
Nanaki-san...
[Wait- He's over fifty years old?? Better not ask about that one. That's kind of amazing...]
I think one of the first lessons we learn from heroes is that sometimes doing the right thing means leaving a story behind that might not have all the right details... Sometimes there isn't time between trying to protect who's important and stopping the danger and telling others what you need to do. I guess... Sometimes it's better to do what's right first. Even if it costs a lot.
[He smiles at Nanaki.]
I'm happy that you found out the truth. I think your father would be a hero in our culture just like he was for you and your tribe.
no subject
Perhaps you are right. For someone so young, you speak with a lot of wisdom. And I am glad that you think so highly of him, as well.
[It truly was a good feeling, to speak of his father with pride.]
And is that what you strive for as well? To be a hero like the ones in your stories?
no subject
Ahha- It's nothing! I just watch a lot of hero dramas on television...! I still have a lot to learn...!
[Fret fret.]
But yeah... I want to be a hero like that. A hero that can save everyone no matter what and with a smile on my face.
[And honestly he doesn't really need big thank yous either. Nanaki's father seemed amazing...]
no subject
[Poor kid, don't fret so much..! But, Nanaki likes him. His tail flicks.]
I wish you good luck on that endeavour. And should you need any assistance, I would be happy to provide what I can. But I think you're well on your way to your goal.
no subject
Y-yeah, there's still a lot of time and a lot for us to learn!!
[Right?? Then Izuku is blushing with pride.]
Thanks, Nanaki-san. I think if this broadsword goes well for me... Would you like to do more quests with me in the future?
no subject
That there is. You are fifteen, sixteen? If we were the same species, we would be the same age.
[So, yep, 50 years old is indeed young for him. Normally he'd hide this little fact, but maybe divulging his age to Izuku will help forge some more solidarity with the young hero.]
Of course I would. And even if it didn't, I'd be happy to accompany you on future quests.
no subject
[Izuku frets quickly and then settles down with a swift nod.]
Then let's work together again!
[Friends!]
no subject
[Just how old does Nanaki's species live for? Only time will tell~]
Right. I look forward to it.
[Friends indeed!]
no subject
You still seem like you're a bit wise beyond your years, Nanaki-san.
[Or maybe he should be calling him Nanaki-senpai!]
no subject
[That's what he thinks, at least.]
no subject
[Have a lot to learn!! Maybe he says that a lot. Izuku smiles and he quickly nods.]
I think I should try out this weapon?
[So he holds it up in a loose sort of stance.]
How... how does your friend hold his broadsword?
no subject
Hmm, well, since it's so big, he holds it in front of him with both hands and uses a wide stance for balance. And then, when he swings it...
[And Nanaki can give Izuku a brief rundown of how he's seen Cloud use his Buster Blade.]
no subject
Okay... Something like this...?
[And he tries to mimic that pose explained with the wide stance and holding the blade with two hands. It's a bit hard to stay focused on one spot but it feels more stabilized.]
no subject
Yes, something like that. Though, if that stance is too tough, you can adjust it as you see fit.
no subject
That doesn't feel too bad, Nanaki-san! Thank you...
[He smiles and pulls the weapon free and tries a few more swings.]
I think I'm going to go with this one.
no subject
It suits you well. I say you'll do well with it.
no subject
Thank you, it was a lot of help to have your opinions on it too.
[Thanks for the stories!]
