[open] what am I to be what is my calling!
š§ WHO: Izuku Midoriya & YOU!
āļø WHAT: Catch-all log for the month of March! Quests, open prompts and closed threads inside.
š WHEN: All throughout March.
šŗļø WHERE: Camelot and surrounding areas.
ā ļø WARNINGS: tba.
[a:
quest: run snaggle foot run]
[Snagglefoot Miffen is the name of the thief that has snatched up some precious gems from a local jewelry shop in Camelot. And if there is one thing that Izuku canāt tolerate as a student studying to be a hero? Itās crime, of course! When he had seen the task, he had signed up right away. Being away from his homeworld and his school hasnāt taken anything away from Izukuās determination to be a hero and to help out whenever he can.
But this thief is chalking it up to be quite the challenge. A slippery fellow that once Izuku gets a single lead is off before Izuku can reach the next one. Heās been tracking the man through the streets as fast as he can, but the thief seems to be one step ahead of him so far. The next lead means heāll be heading to the Red Springs Inn next. That means Izuku has to get there before he does.]
Alright, Iām not letting him get ahead of me this time. Even if Iām here... I still have to be. Plus Ultra!
[There is a flicker of magic as Izuku places his hands on a nearby tree. A flash and a bang later and the tree transmutes and grows into a twisted-looking wooden ladder with footholds and all. Izuku is then climbing up the ladder onto the roof of the nearby building and is then running and leaping from roof to roof. Better for the birdās eye view and to get to the Red Spring Inn faster! Occasionally, only stopping to transmute more branches and tall hanging trees into planks to use as a jumping point to the next roof or ledge!
Witness his alchemy trick or help him out!]
[b:
quest: farmers-r-us]
[Farming is still helping and Izuku is just glad that he can lend a hand. Alchemy magic also seems to be a good thing to have in this regard. Heās working with the local farmers with helping the new crops sprout. Heās slow at the work at first but heās getting better at it bit by bit. And when heās not helping with the crops himself he is also a healthy strong boy so moving supplies and hauling tools or crops is right up his alley too. The hard work feels nice!
What he doesnāt notice right away while heās working is the small next of pixies that have seemed to have nested in a corner of the field heās working in. One moment he is kneeling down to plant and work on some seedlings when his foot catches a part of the nest buried in the brush.]
Eh-??! [Whoosh!!
In an instant, the nest of pixies erupts like a swarm of bees flying around him in a pink and glittery haze! His hair flies up and sticks there as he blinks rapidly at the swarm whooshing all around him! He flails!]
Ah-!! Ack- AHHHHiiii!!
[How does he get the swarm ofbees pixies to stop?! Theyāre starting to chant some sort of magic or charm and the air is starting to spark!]
[c: š„¦ broadsword shopping]
[Being in a fantasy world like this and without his usual quirk Izuku has realized he needs a way to keep up with combat and battle without being able to use his usual superpowers. Alchemy isnāt always a combat type of magic (or at least he hasnāt quite honed a way to use it in a combative way just yet) so he thinks with a weapon that it would be a good way to supplement his skills.
And who doesnāt want a big as heck sword to go with this entire fantasy world vibe?? Like right out of a JRPG!?
Izuku is browsing a local blacksmith and weapons store. Looking at a row of the broadswords that might fit his style and his grip. Heās never bought a sword before so he is a little out of his league right now but looking at the weapons is just ⦠so freaking cool.]
Uaa... These swords are amazing! I canāt believe Iām really here and I can get oneā¦!
[d: š„¦ alchemy studying]
[Izuku is still very new to alchemy but he is getting the hang of transmuting organic matter. Wood, plants and the like came to him easily enough. But with his classmates learning their own magic he does want to try and see if he can study enough to help them as well. With Katsuki and Tsuyu both using light magic, he has figured that the faster he learns how to change and manipulate glass, metal and precious stones? The better.
And that is where Izuku is right now. Heās sitting on a bench outside as he tinkers with a handful of copper pieces and a container full of sand. Heās currently trying to transmute the copper pieces into different shapes and later trying to change the sand into proper glass lenses.
Holding the piece of copper in his hand Izuku suddenly winces as his magic flashes and burns his skin. He drops the copper piece with a clatter! This is going to take some practice...]
If I can get copper and sand to work right... I can start making magnifying lenses...
[Izuku is starting to mutter to himself!]
[e: š§ wildcard]
[got something else? feel free to toss it down here! or contact me over here on the cr meme for some plotting! more than happy to make some closed starters as well!]

I-It was just an accident!! [She says, before covering her face again to sneeze, swiftly turning her head.] They shouldn't have overreacted, b-but I guess I do sort of understand...a-a little.
[SNIIIIIFF.] Y-You think? Eeeh...m-maybe we should just apologize? I-I don't know if they'll listen, but...I-I'm willing to help you, Deku-kun.
no subject
I'll try, the last thing I want is for us to ... be stuck like this for days... [He sniffles.] Ahh.
[So he's going to go up to the barn door again! But not just flinging the door open to expose themselves to the danger again. Instead, he knocks politely like it's someone's house. He probably looks a little silly with his hair all wild and his nose red.]
Ahh... Excuse me? Pixies-san? [Knock knock.] I want to apologize for stepping on your home! It was an accident! If there's anything we can do to make up for it, we'll do it! ... T-that's a promise as a hero!
no subject
Y-Yeah...I mean. [A-CHOO!] Nnff...i-if we gotta work to repay 'em, I don't mind, we already were working 'fore, so...s'not a big deal.
[She is sounding more and more congested by the second, and Ochako scoots away from Izuku a second, because her nose is starting to run and it's gross and embarrassing and ewww. She must looks like a nightmare right now, ugh. If only her hankie wasn't dirty...and wiping her nose on her sleeve or hand is also gross as hell. What other choice does she have, though? There should be a hose--...outside the barn. Fuck.
But, as she mulling over her woe and misery at being a snotty, teary-eyed monstrosity, Izuku is going about asking the pixies for forgiveness, and there's a very distinct buzzing and tapping from the other side of that door. Ochako blinks, approaches, and presses her ear to it, listening quietly as a very soft and mousy few voices chime in from the other side, heard only through very tiny cracks in the wood of the door, that even the pixies wouldn't be able to get through.
'Hero, you say? What sort of hero?'
'But heroes have nasty swords. Big nasty! Nasty iron!!'
'But he says he can fix it. Hero fix!! Make bigger! Bigger nest for bigger mushies, yes yes. Tasty mushies.'
'Hero, you fix our home? Make it bigger?']
no subject
Ahh... That's right-! We're both heroes! We don't have any iron with us...? [Not yet anyway- Whoops.] But I have alchemy magic, I should be able to fix what we broke! And we can add something to the structure to make it larger too!
[He glances at Ochako. Right? Can they do that?? He's kind of flying by the seat of his pants here.]
Uraraka-san, do you have anything you could give to make their nest... pretty?
[idk Like a hairclip or something??]
no subject
Coughing a bit, Ochako thinks a bit before thumping her fist into her palm and digging out her cell phone from a back pocket. She fiddles with someone on it, and then holds out a pretty charm to Deku, that used to adorn it.]
How 'bout this? [It's floral, and also a bell, too!! Should fit right in, she'd wager. She got it a long time ago, when she visited a temple to do last year's prayers on the holiday, around her birthday. Cheap, but still cute.] Make 'em get rid'a the cold first, though, Deku!! There's no way we can work with a fever like this!!
[She's already speaking like she's got cotton stuffed up her nose, here.]
no subject
That might work! I think I read in a book once that pixies like shiny and jingly things...
[In a book so who knows if this will work or not. Izuku just knows that his head is starting to ache and he has to sniffle again to keep the snot from escaping his nose.]
Ah- Ohhh- Okay. Pixies-san! [He's holding up the little charm to jingle!] If you can take off this curse...! We'll give this to you for your home! And we'll fix it too! Please!
[................ A silence stretches. And Izuku gives Ochako a nervous glance because maybe this isn't working- but then suddenly the angry hovering from outside calms down to a gentle hum.]
"Gimme gimme! Something shiny! We'll lift our curse! We'll give you a second chance but another misstep and we'll give you something worse!!"
[A twinkling noise is heard from the other side of the bard door and viola-! Izuku will suddenly inhale sharply and rub his nose free! The congestion is gone! The itchiness in his eyes is gone! And he doesn't feel like he's inhaled a ton of dust anymore!]
It worked...!!
no subject
Mm, I heard that, too...in a lot of the manga I read. [Of course Ochako reads magical girl and fantasy-based books and manga. She's a girl, that shit is literally tailored for her, specifically. though, of course, she also enjoys some fiery action shows and such, too - with monster battles and giant robots!! And heroes, but that's a given.] Fairies a-an' pixies like gettin' stuff like tha'...
[So hopefully it does work. Ochako is starting to look a little green now, and she actually takes some cautious steps away from her friend just in case the gurgling and churning of her stomach becomes worse. God almighty, why does her illnesses always have to end in her vomiting? Why is this always her fate??
Thankfully though, as she braces in the corner for what may come up, Ochako feels everything seem to vanish all at once, and she takes in a fresh and easy breath of--]
Ooh...oh, eugh! [Y-Yeah, um...they are still very much in a stable with cows and other barnyard animals. The smell is very much that of, erm...manure. Ochako gags, plugging her nose all over again and pulling up her shirt over her nose and mouth.] O-Okay, let's fix their home already!! I wanna get out of here! It stinks!!
I-I mean...good work, Deku-kun! I knew you could do it!! [But also, please let her out.]
no subject
R-right- Okay! Okay! I'm opening the door now!
[Thank gosh because this barn really is smelly like farm animals, poop and more farm animals. He grabs for the latch of the barn door and yanks it open with a bit of nervousness because the gaggle of pixies are right there! They seem to be hovering there in waiting, though! No more stinging or angry buzzing!]
Here! Please take it!
[He holds up the little charm and immediately one of the little pixies flies for it and latches on to the little charm and flies up with it in its grasp. They all start giggling and inspecting the little trinket. And they seem to be pleased enough to let them pass so Izuku's going to motion to Ochako to follow him as they sneak out of the barn! Gasp!]
That was ... ahh... Something.
[Time to get to work on fixing that next, though. At least it's close by. But he doesn't notice that one of the little pixies has picked Ochako's hair to sit in...Oh.]
Are you feeling okay, Uraraka-san?
no subject
Thankfully, all the fussing the pixies are doing with her charm, flying about and shaking it so the bell tinkles prettily, chittering and cooing and sometimes even fighting to take turns to hold and shake it. They're like toddlers, all fighting over a new, shiny toy...it's a little funny, actually.]
Mmhm, much better now that they've lifted that curse thing...and we're outside. Do you need any help, Deku-kun? I can get you some materials to work with, but I'm not sure what you'd like, o-or...need. [Hay seems nice for a nest, but maybe wood would be better?? Sturdier for sure, and less likely to be stepped on.] Oh, and maybe we should set it away from the farmlands...especially if the workers come through with their equipment.
no subject
I'd like the help-! I think if we could get some new materials like twigs and bark I should be able to use some alchemy to reinforce the nest?
[He nods as he brushes some straw out of his hair.]
If we could make it more visible to the workers that would be the best idea. Maybe just to the side near the treeline... that seems safe and out of the way.
no subject
Okay!! Once we're close to the treeline, I can gather sticks and bark for you, Deku-kun! Maybe even some long grass and vines, too, for binding. Um, pixies-san? Does that sound okay with you? That way, no one will step on your nest again, or come by with their tractor and hurt any one you!
[It takes a minute for the pixies to stop toying with the bell charm before they respond, muttering quietly amongst themselves another moment or two before agreeing. And when they do, Ochako will head to the indicated spot and gather up as much foliage as she can find, also taking a small handful of hay and straw with her from the previously destroyed nest, and laying it all out for Deku to work with. There's even more manmade things in the pile too - some pieces of a ceramic pot, an old (and heavily scratched up) lens from a pair of glasses, and a very dirty, old glove.
Have at, friendo.]
no subject
[Honestly, Izuku is excited to be able to help. Fixing a mistake he made! So it's time to get to work in fixing that up and he gathers his own things and heads over to the trees to pick a good sunny spot that has some good wind protection with the trees. And still close enough to the farmer's field that it's still home for them. Maybe they gather food from here? What do pixies eat?
He laughs when he sees what Ochako brings for him to work with. But he decides he can use every single bit of it, even the old things she brings. With little flashes of alchemy, Izuku rearranges the items and starts creating a cute miniature rustic-looking nest house. The pot shards are used to create a rocky path, the glasses are changed into little circle pieces for windows and the old glove is reshaped into some tiny bitty curtains and flooring. After a bit of cleaning up. It's a little wonky looking since Izuku isn't really that great with crafts and artist things but it looks decent! Livable!]
no subject
Ochako watches Deku work, grinning as he implements some of the other things she brought into his overall design. It's rough around the edges, definitely - Izuku's no home designer or architect - but it is a good, sturdy home!! Almost akin to that of a birdhouse, maybe, just a bit...uncentered. At least it does look livable, and less like a nest and more like an actual little house!! The pixies all fly down to inspect it, buzzing inside and out, all around, and seem to chatter happily and excitedly amongst themselves.]
Oh, I think they like it!! [Kneeling down, Ochako beams as the pixies all seem to mumble and nod, but then flutter back toward the two and hover in the air. Oh come on, what more do they want?] Eh, is...is something the matter?
["One more thing before we go!"
"Yes, yes! Just one!!"
There's a buzz in the air, and the pixies all look at each other a moment, before smiling and looking, almost expectantly from Ochako to Izuku in turn, slowly. They all then say, in unison:
"Will you give us your names, heroes?"
Ochako's breath catches in her throat, and she smacks a hand over Izuku's mouth right away, just in case he even attempts to answer, beaming happily, but her friend can feel the tiny shake of her fingers.]
R-Right!! Of course we'll tell you our names! Hahah! I'm Uravity, and this is Deku. [The pixies blink, scowl for but a fraction of a second before they smile again, and nod their heads in thanks...silently retreating inside their new home.] Ffff----uwah! That was close!
no subject
[And that hand smacks right on his mouth! He is effectively muted and he lets Ochako take the lead with the answer even if he was going to be more than happy to say it too! Being called heroes... It feels so cool and real?!
Or was he missing something there... Tricky, tricky pixies...
Once the little fae creatures are off on their way enjoying their new home the two of them can head back towards the farm.]
Wha- What was that about, Uraraka-san?
no subject
S-Sorry, Deku-kun, I...um. I didn't mean to do that s-so suddenly, but...to fairies, or...fae creatures i-in general, names hold a lot of power. Never, ever, give your name to a fae if it asks for it, and especially not your full name. That's how it can control you. [She looks away again, poking her index fingers together.] Fantasy and science fiction are my favorite genres, so I...r-read a lot of books about that sort of stuff, and every fantasy story - th-that wasn't geared toward little kids - that I've come across always said that. That there are rules you have to follow when encountering a fae creature.
If a fae asks 'will you give me your name' or 'can I have your name', they're literally asking to take it. You can be wily and respond like I did by saying 'I'll tell you my name' but...that might make them mad, and always use a nickname or a fake name.
no subject
[He's read his own fair share of fantasy novels and manga before but he's never come up on that fact before! Probably because most of the fantasy he reads is more hero-era related. Or he didn't remember the entire fact.]
I think I remember reading something about using a middle name for that instead of giving your full name. I didn't think it would be that... serious.
[Actual shivers. It's really like a brain jack if they can take control over someone?? Big yikes!]
Then you really saved us from a pinch...!!
no subject
Though she's still nervously wringing her hands together, and picking up the pace to get back to the farmstead proper. Faeries are capricious creatures, and they're not the nicest when they feel like they've been slightest. Sure, Ochako did the 'correct' thing, but she's still not sure they won't come back and try to trick her some other way, just to get back.]
Eh...heheh, you think so? I-I guess I did. [She rubs the back of her head and finally makes it back to the farmstead, where the shop and grocer is.] I never thought something like that would ever come in handy, you know? But maybe I'll read up on more stuff like that... You too, Deku-kun. Take care, okay?
no subject
[Izuku nods and off they go away from the pixie nests and everything else. Better to be safe than sorry, for sure. Izuku is still amazed that he's even in a world like this. It's so much different than home or South Sister so he better do his research for little things just like this. Time to study more.]
Thanks for the help today, Uraraka-san...!
