Residential Inn

It was a little bit weird to be spending all this time indoors, but it was chilly out and even Quirkless Tsu was still of the mindset that it was better to be warm than not. She wandered around the place, heading down to the breakfast area early in the morning, eating and drinking what was on offer. Her familiar, the Kappa, was nowhere to be seen during all this, so she's mostly sitting alone unless someone would like to join her.

Other teenagers could possibly expect her to meander over and sit with them though, if they didn't object.

"Mind company?"

Around Camelot

Later in the day, Tsuyu bundled up in as warm an outfit as she could manage and meandered out into the city itself. She was entranced by the curious combination of nature and architecture, her wide eyes going wider as she followed a stream right up to the wall of a house. She paused briefly before skirting the edge, just to see if it continued onto the other side...

"...Wow, it really does? This place is extraordinary!" she says somewhat loudly. From down in the water, something burbles a reply, and up pops her familiar, chewing casually on a cucumber.

"Now there you are. I was wondering when you'd turn up!" Tsu says to the kappa, who clambers out and begins to shake himself to clear off some of the water. Which may or may not spray a passerby!

Training Grounds

Never one for idling about, Tsuyu did eventually make her way to the magical training grounds to start getting a handle on her abilities. She wasn't thrilled with the loss of her quirk, but she figured that she'd need to make do, even if she didn't like it.

So, she sought out a training partner, walking up to anyone else that looked a little new, or a little less than confident at least.

"...Want to get some practice in together?" she asks, smiling gently.

A Quest! (Possibly leading to A Tall Order?)

Also being a generally helpful person, Tsuyu thought to check out the QuestBoard app to see what kinds of tasks were available. Sitting atop her familiar's shell outside the inn, knees drawn up to her chest, she lounged there, pouring over the assortment of odd jobs. As she sat there, she couldn't help but break out in a little laugh.

"Now that sounds silly!" she says, presumably to her Kappa partner, but maybe that just looks like a green rock and you feel like chatting?

[Ochako most definitely would not like anything like that, and probably would turn green at the mere mention... If there's one way to kill her ravenous appetite, it's probably to mention edible insects. S-Sorry, friendo, she loves and respects you and your froggy ways, but...man. Cannot do it on the bug thing. She truly felt for Mic-sensei when he was, uh...put into that nightmare scenario by Jirou and Kouda, okokok. It made her skin crawl just watching on the monitors.]

Eeh, a stream running through the house?! That's so weird... [But cool indeed.] Mm, I hope I can learn my magic soon, so I can figure out how to move water and stuff like that... Oh!! Speaking of, what sort of magic did you get, Tsu-chan?

Oh! I got light magic.

[Which is pretty fitting. She thinks, anyway. Because she tries to be sweet to everyone.

And for explanation, and to show off, she holds up a hand and waggles her fingers, making sparks shower off of it.]

See?

[Ochako leans in and her eyes widen with a soft gasp. Oh, that is so cool!! It's so different from her friend's usual quirk that Ochako is just delighted to see it.]

Uwaah, that's so pretty!! Like a sparkler! I was told I got elemental magic, but I haven't been able to figure out how to trigger it yet. It's, ah...i-it's a lot harder than I thought it'd be. [For a girl who love fantasy genre and magical girl anime/manga...Ochako has tried just about everything - to no avail.] But I heard this type of magic is pretty strong, so I'm excited to get to learn it.

Have you learned anything more than just that? [It's easy for Ochako to ask Tsuyu about her magic - it both passes the time of their walk, and sort of keeps Ochako entertained as well. It's not like she has anything to show for her efforts to unlock her magic, after all... B-Besides, she's always happy to see how cool and awesome her friends are.]

I didn't know you were having trouble with it. I just...studied some books in the library and did a little practice and it just sort of came.

[It's all very basic, of course, But she's managing!]

Um...what else can I do though? I can make little barriers? Like a shield, but they aren't big, or very solid for very long. I'm going to try and make a laser beam happen, though. I've been working on that.

[Ochako makes a bit of a pouty face. It all sounds easy, sure...and she's done some reading on the subject herself, but...for whatever reason, her own magic seems to be particularly finicky. Perhaps because it's a different type? The manual did indicate that users did have different levels at which they learned, and some manifested the magic far easier than others. It seems to vary from person to person, and that alone is a little...frustrating. Ochako doesn't like feeling like she's tripped and twisted her ankle at the starting line, while everyone else races forward without her.]

Eh, so...your magic seems more defensi-- [OOOH...LASERS.] Lasers?! Oh, oh, l-like Aoyama-kun!! His naval laser is a a beam of light!

Yes...

[Ochako is...well, she feels for her friend, but she knows that she'll get it. Tsu's got confidence in her friend. And she's generally pretty excited about the prospects of all this. Aoyama is a silly guy, but she does like his beams. They're flashy.]

Bakugou and I were going to try it. Learning to focus light and all that. Since that's what a laser is.

[It's...definitely a learning curve, for sure. And Ochako will need the confidence and support of her friends, because her magic is strong, but uncontrollable. The elements are wild and can be dangerous if they get out of hand, after all - wildfires, hurricanes, blizzards, earthquakes. Just to name a few.]

Ooh...I remember that. Good luck, Tsuyu-chan. [Working with Bakugou, too. Ochako is patient and understanding, but the blond can try even her patience sometimes, and really knows how to get under one's skin. Hopefully Tsuyu has a decent go of it.] I really wish there was a school here that taught us magic...sort of like how UA taught us to enhance and better understand our quirks.

[Oops, hold that thought. Ochako is squinting, covering her eyes with her hands, as they continue towards their goal. She sees people off in the distance, and...could that be where they need to be?]

[Tsu is patient. And she'll also call him out. She isn't afraid of him! >:V She is a fierce frog.]

I do doo! A magical academy would make a lot of sense. I'm confused about why there isn't! If Arthur wants us to save the world, and the multiverse, you'd think he'd want to train his soldiers, right?

[Likewise - the class really did start to learn how to better approach their resident Bomberanian, didn't they? With time and a bit of patience, and...not letting him get away with shit. Bakugou really does need to be put in his place and humbled from time to time - it's good for his egotistical nature.

Ochako makes a bit of a face at the 'soldiers' bit, humming thoughtfully because she...doesn't exactly like being considered a soldier. Hero is one thing, or even a knight...or fighter, but soldier always had bit of a stigma attached to it, she's come to find. Plus, she and her friends are still just kids, after all. They shouldn't be fighting in any battles, or wars, or...whatever ~~until she's canon updated and that is forced on her by the government, but DETAILS~~.]

Mmh...I can't say, but maybe because there's so many people showing up from time to time? It may be difficult to predict how many come in, or when, and accommodate them... Ah, there!

[Ochako moves forward quickly, as the elves start to come into view better, and their palanquin carrying one of their nobles as well. Ochako takes in the sight, trying not to bite her cheek too hard. Wow, the elves really are small, huh? She sort of expected elves to be more like her fantasy stories depictions of them - tall, lithe, stunningly beautiful, or dark, mysterious, and dangerous. These look more like the holiday decorations she's seen on American shopping websites.]

Hello there!! My friend and I are here to fulfill your request, I-I think?

[Tsu follows along quietly, not really too worried about any of this stuff. She and her familiar are quiet and thoughtful as they arrive, taking in the little folk. She'd figured they'd be tall too, like Tolkien's elves. She remembers those movies!

The little guy in charge waves them over, jabbering cheerfully about being glad to have their help.]

So you guys just need us to carry you?

[That's what she's got, and she has no problem with it, she just wants clarification.]

[Likewise for Ochako, though these elves certainly do have a charm all their own, even if they seem a bit more pompous than, erm...s-sleek and elegant. The one in the palanquin, scoffs at the duo, turning up its nose and waving a hand to another, still very well groomed elf, but far less extravagant. An assistant, or handler, or...something, probably.

They are given instruction in a, f-frankly...rather condescending manner ahem, that they are to deliver their nobleman at an altitude befitting his prestige and nobility, and to look their very best while doing so, not uttering a sound and keeping the palanquin balanced and stable at all time while they make the trek across the gables. It's...quite an easy job, really, but the only difficult part will be the actual heavy lifting. The girls are also told that breaks will not be permitted until they are at their destination, and complaints of any kind will result in lesser of a reward than first agreed.

Honestly, the more and more these aristocrats talk, the more Ochako's expression sours. Good lord, these elves are...a lot like the rich folk back home, it seems. Fancy that even in other world, that sort of thing just doesn't change.]

R-Right... [Maybe it would be best to try and call her familiar and see if her wolf would let this elf go for a ride. It'd certainly be very high up, which is what they want.]

[Well. Tsuyu is not pleased with it, but she can manage. She's had way worse, honestly, and while she isn't fond of this kind of crap, she'll manage. So, without complaint, she gathers up the palanquin on the front and nods to Ochako.

Silently, of course. She'll wait to give them a piece of her mind after they've been paid.

Her familiar scuttles up beside her, puffing up his chest like some sort of kappa herald, and once Ochako is ready, away they will go!]

[Away they go indeed, and it certainly isn't difficult, but it isn't easy, either. Or, at the very least, the elves don't seem to make it very easy... Every so often, at least of them them is chastised or ordered to do something to make the journey more pleasant and comfortable for the aristocratic elves. Not only that, but the nobles talk, loudly, about how Ochako and Tsu are the 'barely bigger than we are' and that they 'could have easily gotten bigger, for the same price'.

It all makes Ochako's teeth grind together, but she grins and bears it as they complete their task at last. She'll complain about it once they're gone and paid, and the feeling returns to her heavy arms enough if she really needs to bop one of these Keebler Crooks on the head or something. But her lips are pursed tightly into a thin line as they're ordered, once again, to lower the palanquin at a large and thick-trunked tree.]

W-Will...that be all? [Her smile couldn't be any more tight.]

[Tsuyu is ever patient, because there is the need to get paid. She will, however, remember this. And so up they go, and up and up, even if it isn't actually that far. Her expression is tight and her eyes are fixed firmly ahead. This is helping, even if it isn't glamorous, because it means a chance to get out of the hotel and contribute to society here.

Just, she isn't going to work with these tiny tyrants ever again. Nope.]

[Ochako feels you, bestie. She is none too happy about this sort of treatment, but she can hold her tongue long enough to at least get her money...and vent about it later, perhaps. But she's most certainly not going to take on any jobs from these rude, 'higher than thou' elves, no sir.

Ochako purses her lips a bit, glancing first to Tsuyu as if trying to read the girl's expression and get a bead on what sort of answer she'd like to give. Ochako is plainly done being around these gobl--sorry, elves, and is just about ready to tell them thanks but no thanks about watching their play. Honestly, she sort of just wants to get her money, grab something to eat and drink, and maybe do a small bit of retail therapy to help her cool off a bit. Bargain hunting and getting some adorable outfits and items always did help cheer Ochako up.

Clearing her throat a bit, she bows slightly at the waist and looks as apologetic as she can. Polite. Be polite. Fake it if you have to, but at least try and be nice about it.]

Thank...th-thank you for your kind and generous offer, and any other time we would love to! But...I-I'm afraid we do have other jobs to attend to as well, and I'm certain you understand how awful it is to be kept waiting.

[The elves do nod slightly, something they can at least agree upon. But, true to their nasty little forms, they dismiss the duo with a flick of the wrist and a dismissive: 'Very well. Refinement and art would be lost on your kind, after all'. Ochako has her bite the inside of her cheek, exhaling sharply through her nose before she and Tsuyu are each handed a sack of gold as their payment and let on their way.

As soon as they're both well out of earshot, Ochako just...bursts at last. Throwing her arms up to the sky, she huffs and windmills her one arm as if winding up to sock something.]

OOOHH!! The nerve!

[Tsuyu is similarly furious, on the inside. She doesn't say anything, instead allowing Ochako to take the point on this conversation. She's annoyed as hell, and ready to start kicking over the little terrors if they say the wrong thing. So, better to just let one person handle it.

As soon as she leaves, tucking her bag into her backpack, she waits, grinding her own teeth. As soon as Ochako breaks, she does too.]

Exactly! They're so rude! What kind of lame elves are they anyway? Ribbit.

[Her outrage is a bit more muted than Ochako's of course, but she is furious enough that she'll probably warn all their classmates against taking jobs for the nasty little things. This indignancy will not stand, man!]

[Ochako definitely is the more animated of the two, she always has been, it's part of the reason why a genki girl like herself is such good friends with the equally genki and excitable girls in the class - Mina and Hagakure. It takes a lot to get under her skin, but the condescending air of such pint-sized pipsqueaks was appalling!! Even Bakugou's aggressive and sometimes downright foul attitude was better than that!

She's steaming, and kicks a rock as hard as she can with the toe of her shoe.]

I don't know!! They're nothing like what they're like in stories! [Yeah, elves are a bit arrogant, but they always seemed helpful and kind, despite that. These ones were just...ugh.] They wouldn't even let us drink or eat!! I bet our water's all warm, the sandwiches are gross and soggy!!

We should spend this money on something really nice, Tsu-chan, I feel dirty having it in my pockets now, blech. [And you know how Ochako is with money, friendo.]

[She brightens, trying to cheer Ochako up with an animated hop forward and a pat on the back. Kappa-kun is much the same, chipper as always.]

Let's go get some ice-cream or something. And cold lemonade. I don't want to hang out anywhere near those elves anymore.

[She knows, Friendo. Let's go go go!]

[Oh man, that's an idea Ochako can get behind - ice cream and a nice, chilly lemonade sounds utterly divine. Tsuyu really knows that the quickest way to cheer up Ochako is to offer her somewhere to get a good bite to eat - this girl loves food, and sweets especially.]

Oooh, yeah!! That sounds awesome! [Ochako skips forward to keep in step with her froggy friend.] We can split a really big sundae, or an ice cream parfait!! Then go look for some cute clothes and accessories!

[Let's make this outing actually enjoyable.]
