Residential Inn

It was a little bit weird to be spending all this time indoors, but it was chilly out and even Quirkless Tsu was still of the mindset that it was better to be warm than not. She wandered around the place, heading down to the breakfast area early in the morning, eating and drinking what was on offer. Her familiar, the Kappa, was nowhere to be seen during all this, so she's mostly sitting alone unless someone would like to join her.

Other teenagers could possibly expect her to meander over and sit with them though, if they didn't object.

"Mind company?"

Around Camelot

Later in the day, Tsuyu bundled up in as warm an outfit as she could manage and meandered out into the city itself. She was entranced by the curious combination of nature and architecture, her wide eyes going wider as she followed a stream right up to the wall of a house. She paused briefly before skirting the edge, just to see if it continued onto the other side...

"...Wow, it really does? This place is extraordinary!" she says somewhat loudly. From down in the water, something burbles a reply, and up pops her familiar, chewing casually on a cucumber.

"Now there you are. I was wondering when you'd turn up!" Tsu says to the kappa, who clambers out and begins to shake himself to clear off some of the water. Which may or may not spray a passerby!

Training Grounds

Never one for idling about, Tsuyu did eventually make her way to the magical training grounds to start getting a handle on her abilities. She wasn't thrilled with the loss of her quirk, but she figured that she'd need to make do, even if she didn't like it.

So, she sought out a training partner, walking up to anyone else that looked a little new, or a little less than confident at least.

"...Want to get some practice in together?" she asks, smiling gently.

A Quest! (Possibly leading to A Tall Order?)

Also being a generally helpful person, Tsuyu thought to check out the QuestBoard app to see what kinds of tasks were available. Sitting atop her familiar's shell outside the inn, knees drawn up to her chest, she lounged there, pouring over the assortment of odd jobs. As she sat there, she couldn't help but break out in a little laugh.

"Now that sounds silly!" she says, presumably to her Kappa partner, but maybe that just looks like a green rock and you feel like chatting?

No, not at all.

[Despite being taller than some adults, Gaius does qualify still as a teenager. He's been drinking a coffee and chewing on a muffin as part of a small breakfast. His familiar -- a tiny blue green hummingbird with two long purple tail feathers -- is sitting on his shoulder.]

I know I should have gotten more sleep, but I'm used to getting up really early in the morning.

With approval given, she settles down across from him, nodding politely to the hummingbird before facing him.]

Same here. I don't like just lounging around. there's too much to do. Getting adjusted to a whole new world and learning a new town is a little exciting, too.

That's for sure. I guess before trying to understand everything about the world, I should figure out where I can live and make a base of sorts.

But you're right, exploring is also important.

I think that there's a place they have set aside for us in the town.

[She'd heard they had put aside a whole hotel, actually, until they could arrange for personal lodgings. This one was just a stopover, but it seemed nice enough, so if the other was similar she was pretty set.]

My name's Gaius Worzel. Did you arrive here by yourself or did you come with some friends?

[Because he's curious if there's a pattern or a tendency toward one or the other in this place.]

[She beams, and nods in cheerful answer to his query.]

And yes, several. A few of my classmates from our high school.

Oh that's good. I came here by myself, but I met a few people my age so it's not so bad.

[He makes a mental note about the "-san" suffix. Maybe that's a polite title where she's from?

At that moment, the hummingbird at his shoulder decided it had places to be and hovered in front of his face with impossibly fast wings before zipping off.]

...oh. I guess that's a thing that can happen with familiars.

It...yes?

[She laughs, looking after the buzzing bird.]

Mine is around here somewhere. He's a bit bigger though. A kappa?

A...kappa? I'm not sure what that is. Is it a creature from your world?

[He assumes, anyway. To be fair, he didn't even know hummingbirds like his familiar existed, but it doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility.]

Oh, yes. It's...like a turtle, a frog, and a duck all mixed up. They like cucumbers, and they're very polite.

[And also mischief makers, of course.]

Hunh. Interesting. I'm pretty sure we don't have those at all, but I'd love to meet your friend sometime. It'd make for an interesting painting.

[Which makes him wonder if while he's stuck here, if he'll have time to find supplies to paint or even time to do so?]

A painting? Are you an artist then?

[It isn't unexpected, but it is unusual.]

I try a little here and there. I was in our school's art club and I did a few pieces. But if I do eventually find a nice place, it would certainly be a plus if I had extra room to paint. With all the things I've seen in the past few hours, I'm definitely inspired to at least try and paint, anyway.

What about you? You draw at all?

Ah-heh, not really.

[Tsu rubs the back of her head, smiling wryly. Painting and stuff? Nah.]

I'm more of a physical person than the creative type. I was on the swim team. I like drawing and doodling, but it's just stick figures.

Oh yeah? The strongest person in our class was on the swim team. She could easily swim laps around me.

[Maybe a little exaggeration, but Laura carried around a giant sword as her weapon of choice. Swimming only helped her build up muscle.]

I don't really think I'm all that strong myself. But it was a natural fit for me. When...um...I'm home, I have a power that lets me do things like a frog.

[And it's so weird not having that.]

[Gaius frowns a little bit, clearly not understanding.]

You have power like a frog? Like magic that you no longer have?

Yes. Though, it wasn't magic. My body just...was like a frogs? I had a stretchy tongue and sticky fingers.

[You know, said like this is completely normal.]

So then you had the powers of a frog. Does that mean that other people...had the power of other animals?

Some people do.

Other people have different Quirks. That's what we call our powers. Mine are frog powers, but some people can fly, and some people can talk to animals, and other people can walk through walls, and things like that.

Ohhhh...

So everyone in your world has a different special power that allows you to do things like...what you just said. That's...

Amazing. But I guess maybe it's because where I'm from, no one is born with powers like that. We just make technology to help with that.

Well...

[He pulls out of a satchel around his belt a metal compact about as big as his hand. It flips open and inside there are multicolored quartz pieces arranged in little slots. It looks like it should light up but they're all inert.]

We have these. They're called ARCUS units. I go to a military school and these help us while fighting. With the quartz, we can use what would be considered magic and also link up with people in our teams for combination attacks.

A lot of what's happening now is through orbal technology. It's slowly changing how people live and what we can do.

And...I guess we do have power suits of a kind. From ages past.

OH. That is pretty interesting. I don't really understand everything you just said, but I think get the gist.

[She's nothing if not honest!]

Does it work here? Or do you not have it because it uses magic?

No, it doesn't seem to work at all. I could also use the ARCUS unit for communication, but that doesn't seem to work either. It's just a keepsake for now, I guess.

[He puts the ARCUS unit back in its satchel.]

But your world sounds amazing with everyone being able to fly or have different powers. And it's really everyone in the world?
