Semi-Open Mingle ~ Wedding time

Before the wedding

King Arthur is around to meet with people at the wedding and talk with anyone who would want to do that. (OOC: However, to thread with Arthur you have to reply to someone else inside the log before that. This is to ensure Arthur doesn't take the spotlight out of the wedding.). Merlin is also around but won't have a thread to interact with (but you can assume he said hi).

The ceremony

A sacred circle has been made. Jean and Mikasa gathered the needed materials for the circle a week before the ceremony. There are items that represent all of the different magic types in a symbolic way. One of the items was gifted by a family member, one by a close friend. All of them are mostly simple items that somehow represent the different magics, like a herbal leaves for Healing magic or a potion for Alchemy.

King Arthur begins the ceremony by blessing the circle and anyone who is close to either Jean or Mikasa will be invited to gather around the circle. Jean, Mikasa and Arthur take their positions in the circle and the guests around the circle are asked to hold each others' hands.

Arthur then ties both of Jean and Mikasa's wrists together with a red ribbon dyed with ground crystals and quickly prick them with the tip of a spindle through the ribbon. The blood on the ribbon is said to tie their souls together, so that even if they are separated, they will always be able to find one another again even across the universes, life, and death. Guests at this point start to sing an acapella version of the couple's chosen wedding song, which is A Thousand Years (which was given to everyone with the wedding invitation when they were sent, even if not everyone invited was around the circle necessarily).

During the song, Arthur performs a wedding-specific spell that calls the ribbon off of their wrists and folds it into a rose, which is then alchemized so the crystals solidify and create the couple's wedding rose. Jean and Mikasa exchange rings at this point (given to them by Mukuro, who is Jean's bestman) and kiss, and with that the ceremony is complete.

Wedding Reception/Afterparty

After the wedding ceremony is concluded, Merlin does some magic and sends Arthur home and the wedding guests to the wedding reception. He doesn't do something like often because the ritual of transfer takes a lot out of him, but weddings are special occasions and full of love energy (Love is the strongest force of all, that's one thing he agrees with Morganna. Merlin will also be at the party in a disguise.

The party is more open to anyone who knows Jean or Mikasa or knows someone who knows either of them. It's held at Lord Zidane's Castle in his lands, Atys, near the Ruins of Celliwig.

There are beautiful flowers around the party from Moondrop. Various kinds of dishes are on buffet tables and, of course, desserts and the Cherry Blossom-themed wedding cake are both on their own table.

Both Jean and Mikasa's dogs (Snow & Hazel) are at the party with cute pink ribbons tied to the collars and they accept all sorts of attention as well. Their cat (Sakura is lounging in a special pet corner with a cat tree and other entertainment for any animals (pets or familiars) to use. There are also cakes and other types of food meant for animal companions so they don't get left out of celebrations.

The rose that came with the ceremony is on its own table and anyone who touches it will be able to physically feel a sensation of love Jean and Mikasa have for one another.

A) Ceremony

[Mukuro had the honour of being the dedicated Best Man for the wedding (who said that a girl couldn’t be the best man, right?) And, well… as it had felt wrong to turn up to your brother’s wedding as someone else, she was actually there as herself- looking surprisingly well-dressed, in a smart suit.

She’d taken the time to practice the chosen song of course, glad to have the advanced notice this time! And as it turned out, she was actually quite the skilled singer, her voice clear and true as she sung with the rest of the group.

And she couldn’t help a smile come into her face as she watched the ceremony. It really was beautiful… somehow, it made her feel hopeful. Both for Jean and Mikasa, and for whatever it was that was to come.]

…This is…hope, huh…? Yeah, I think they’ll be okay.

[She’d need to break from the circle to present the couple with their rings soon, but for the brief moments before and after that, she could enjoy the moment.]

B) Wedding Reception

[Mukuro was not the most… comfortable with social mingling, especially when she didn’t have the crutch of pretending to be her significantly more extroverted sister to fall back on.

Still, she helped herself to some food from the buffet, and found a suitable spot where she could wallflower- but she’d happily chat to anyone nearby.]

That ceremony was beautiful, wasn’t it…? I’m glad I didn’t mess up…

[Perhaps it was coincidence that Mukuro ended up spotting both her brother figures at the buffet- or maybe not, considering at least two of them were more comfortable playing security than mingling at a party, and the food table was a safe, neutral location.

But so it was that Mukuro came over to them both with a small, awkward smile. And an empty plate in hand.]

Jean- Hijikata- hey-

[And that was the sound of her stomach growling, much to her embarrassment.]

[Jean smiles at Mukuro when she approaches. Well, he's been smiling all the time today but still.]

Hey-- [Wait. What does he call her on this occasion. She's out of her disguise, but was it still okay to openly call her just Mukuro? He never thought of asking that.]

Oh, you know Hijikata?

[Hijikata is immediately hit with the same dilemma. Officially he's known Mukuro only since the last half year, whereas he's already known "Junko" thrice as long and braved plenty of incidents with her! Should he act like they're just acquaintances? But then again Jean wouldn't know either way, right? Still, he decides to play it safe.]

Ah, yeah - we ended up covering each other's ass a couple of times during the siege and in the Bermuda Station. She's a damn good shot.

[He nods for emphasis!! He'll gas her up to anyone! But then again how necessary can that even be? She mentioned Jean to him often enough that he's sure they're at least as close as he is with her - hell, they killed the damn dragon together with Mikasa, didn't they -, but he has no clue if Jean knows her more as herself or as Junko. Maybe they should have rehearsed this...]

[Mukuro, for however close she was to her brothers, hadn't realised where the awkwardness came from immediately.

She'd spoken to Hijikata about Jean enough times in the past- but come to think of it, she hadn't mentioned Hijikata to Jean that recently, had she? Especially not in the flurry of excitement around the wedding. Oops?

Between embarrassment at her own fumble and Hijikata's praise, she couldn't help going a little red.]

Huh... Oh, yeah. He's looked out for me a lot- I trust him-

Um, I didn't think you two knew each other well though...?

[The fact that Mukuro's default state was socially awkward probably helped none of this.]

[Jean nods at Hijikata's praise. He definitely agrees with Mukuro being very good at shooting... and just being someone who you can trust watch your back.

But if he didn't start praising her in turn there's less chance of slipping up with names right? Good thing Mukuro asked that...!]

We've done a few quests together... and being knights we sometimes pass by on patrol or at the castle. I mean you'll probably bump into him even more soon... -

[Ah.

Crap.

His squire is "Junko" not Mukuro.]

Oh, right! You're taking her as your squire, aren't you? She told me about that!

[Alas, she didn't specify which of her personas would become Jean's squire... so it's Mukuro, then! That's good to have confirmed. When he hears her stomach grumble again he points out the food in front of them.]

Mukuro, have some! There's no mayonnaise, but I've got you covered if you want some.

...!

[There was a brief flash of alarm in Mukuro's expression- perhaps a reaction to her real name being used??

But then, she's glancing at the beautiful buffet?]

...You really brought mayonnaise, huh...

[She shouldn't be surprised anymore, should she? Mukuro dreaded to think how much of it he'd been loading onto the poor food.]

But- um- yes. I'm serving as his squire now.

[Hijikata would see her name from the records if he looked, wouldn't he? Though now Mukuro said that so... Oh man.]

Oh, yeah, I have both her and her sister as my squires... I haven't officially registered Mukuro, but that's the plan.

[Is that saving the moment or digging a bigger hole for himself, who knows...

Mayonnaise tho!]

I should have told them to prepare mayonnaise for the tables. It somehow slipped my mind.

It's fine. I always have some with me. You never know!

[While he's addressing the important mayonnaise matter his thoughts are racing around in his head. He didn't check the records, so he has no idea that Junko is the one registered, and Jean saying he'll take both of them as his squires raises so many question marks. Does he not know?! How will Mukuro explain that she and her sister never show up together?! Or is he just covering for her because he doesn't know that Hijikata knows?]

So you're taking both Junko and Mukuro under your wings... that's commendable.

[Should he say something?! Maybe give Mukuro some advance backup as to why she'll never be in the same area as Junko?]

It's a pity they don't work together well.

[There! This is... a vague-ass statement, but he can't very well badmouth Junko as an abusive jerk if she's going to be Jean's squire too, can he? He takes a sip from his drink that accidentally turns into a glass-emptying deep gulp.]

[Hijikata please don't put mayonnaise on that...Mukuro'll just be staring as he creates his abomination. Please stop Hijikata!!

And then what they said next caused Mukuro to nearly choke on the cheese-and-pineapple-on-a-stick she'd just picked up. The first thought in her mind was that wait, the real Junko couldn't possibly be here, right??

...Wait. Hold on a second.

Did they both think the other didn't know? Were they both trying to cover for her identity crisis??]

It's- not that- complicated- [Cough cough]

[Jean just wants to be cautious since he doesn't know who all are close enough to Mukuro to know. Blame his paranoid ass.]

Yeah, it's really not. Just. One at a time on missions. All good.

[Mukuro please save them from this awkward exchange.]

Right.

[Okay, good, they managed to navigate through this (even if it's still really weird)!! He should use the opportunity to change the topic, but of course everything on his mind is either mayonnaise- or work-related...]

Mukuro and I talked about the archaeopteryxes the other day and what an advantage they'll give us in open-air battles, but they won't let a squire ride them to practice maneuvers, will they? I really don't get why they're so obsessed with knights. Did you ever ask yours?

[That question was for Jean, of course, given that Mukuro traded her animal magic for light magic.]

[Okay, she really needed to course-correct this mess and make sure they both knew the truth- but then she got distracted with Hijikata's next question. Open-air battles!!]

I mean...I've never really ridden a horse properly so I figure I should try that first.

[Stupid easily distracted battle nerd.]

[While Archer does know Mikasa, he was mostly dragged into the wedding by Rin. So here he was... casually just at the wedding reception. A wallflower.

Not that he expected to be talked to all of a sudden.]

Yeah... it wasn't like any wedding ceremony I've seen but it was a nice one.

[Awkward wallflowers together! She recognised this one though, they'd spoken over the network about identity issues not too long ago- she wondered if he'd recognise her out of her disguise.]

...using traditions from Camelot I think.
