Octavinelle Troubles [Closed]

Closed to Azul
It seems all of the trio has been in a poor mood of late, however the reason behind Floyd’s mood is because of the other two. And the fact he doesn’t know what is going on! At the very least he is less annoyed with Azul, having started with whining and when that hadn’t worked had gone not to silent mode, but certainly to ‘I don’t want to talk to you’ mode. This of course may be something Azul would like, but it doesn’t matter to Floyd. He’s upset with both of them.

Floyd’s even let up on that ‘testing’ he’s been putting Azul through for the last month or so, a push here, a prod there, being more of a pain to see if he could make Azul snap and use magic; moving his stuff around on his desk, taking stuff away from him he was using, small things, but he knew it would add up. Floyd had just wanted an excuse to fight and test Azul. But right now… even that wasn’t fun to him. Not with Azul at least.

Still, there is stuff to be done for Golden Silence, he currently tapping his pen against a clipboard he held in his other hand as he looks over their supplies, Squishy snoozing on his shoulder with a couple of tentacles wrapped around Floyd’s neck so not to fall off. Floyd’s busy going through what ingredients they had for the next couple of weeks and making notes and doodles next to the check list of ideas for dishes. Sure, it would be a messy list to give back to Azul once he’s done, but it allowed him to get ideas out and written down, and some of those would actually turn into good dishes! Others… less so and were better to ignore.

However, “We need to go shopping. The menu’s getting boring.” And it’s not just a case of him getting bored with it, it was starting to feel like they were getting a bit too stagnant in what they were offering. Keeping favorites around was good, but it was also good to mix in a new dish or two here and there to get people in to try it. ‘Limited edition’ was always a good way to bring people, and money, in.

Closed to Jade
His mood towards Jade was even less friendly since this all had been going on. Whatever ‘this all’ even was! Floyd didn’t know! All he knows is Azul and Jade are being weird!

And neither of them will tell him why!

They’re supposed to be a team! Why is he left out?!

And it hurt more coming from Jade. Sure, it’s not like the twins had to know everything about each other, they had their secrets from each other, they didn’t have to tell each other everything. But the fact whatever was happening was affecting two of the trio made this more important! So while Floyd is annoyed at Azul…

He’s angry at Jade.

That may explain why dishes and utensils are getting slapped down more than normal as they work at setting up the restaurant for the change from lunch to dinner while the place was still empty of customers. Floyd was always messier when it came to that than Jade was, but he normally either did the job decent enough to pass, or didn’t want to do it at all. This was… more aggressive. Very much a case of showing his feelings through his actions. After all, he’s already spoken his feelings at Jade about being angry at not knowing what was happening, and that had achieved nothing.

So now… he’s ignoring Jade. Fine! If he doesn’t want to talk to him, then Floyd won’t talk to him!

[It doesn't matter if 'that's not how this works', it's the principle of the thing! Jade is not allowed to be older than Floyd! Certainly not by a whole year!] I wanna do a beach day, so we'll have to be away from the restaurant unless we can get back real fast like. I wanna see if Squishy can get any bigger. [That... would not make sense to anyone but a few right now. Though as always, Floyd speaks as if it does, that it wasn't only he and a couple who knew that Squishy could change size. Floyd really wanted to see the little kraken turn into a full size one, given the space.] We haven't gone swimming together in ages! [He misses that.]

[WAIT! This got him all side tracked, Floyd calming again from his good mood to a more subdued one.] Jade won't talk to me either about this... I was annoyed at you not talking to me... but I'm angry at him. [A frown pulling at Floyd's features, but also... signs of hurt over this all.]

We can go next month, then.

[Easy enough, and it'll still be warm enough to go swimming.

As for Jade...]

I can't make him talk, unfortunately. [If he could, this may not have happened.] Have you tried asking him?

[Good.]

Yes! [This answer comes with another slap of his palm against the countertop, hard enough to make the clipboard he had thrown down there bounce from the impact.] I wanna know what is going on! I don't like you guys acting weird! [Or at least not without him being part of it as well!

...] I donno what to do...

[Azul jumps when Floyd smacks the countertop, giving him a Look. Please do not scare him.

But. Well. He can think of one thing that might shortcut all of this bullshit. It is the Twins, after all. He just doesn't want to suggest it.

A beat. Two.

And then he sighs, taking his glasses off to pinch the bridge of his nose.]

Have you tried fighting it out?

[...

Floyd stares at Azul for several long moments.

Before smiling. A real, happy smile, no extra attitude behind it or hidden intention, just actually happy.] You get us so well, Azul. [You know what... it may have to come to that.]

I did consider squeezing him and tying him down and making him talk to me... but it's Jade, ya know? [You gotta know, Azul. You know what Jade is like. Floyd has to be careful or Jade will ruin everything he likes. And not in a way of something just 'somehow' breaking. It would be ruined in the way that Jade would make Floyd hate something he normally likes, to twist it and turn it until it's seen as a bad thing. And that takes time to get over.]

I do know.

[Azul may be the one in charge but he knows exactly who the most relentless one of the three is. Jade is terrifying if you piss him off.]

This isn't permission to wreck my restaurant though. If you two end up fighting inside, I will stop you. [. . .] Eventually.

Yeah, yeah, if we do I'll do it somewhere out of the way. And not near you. [Ha... haaaa....] Can't have it linked back to the restaurant, right? [A toothy, happy, grin with that. Can't do anything to damage Azul's reputation, or property, after all.

Hmmm...] ...I wonder why he like this. You said it's after you and River Dolphin got together.

[...wait a sec.]

Got together? Taichi and I are just friends. We were out because his fiancé was sent home a month or two ago and he was finally up to going out.

[And Azul is weak to extroverts.]

Yeaaah~, ya got together to go singing. [Floyd says this completely seriously. Before breaking into a slow smile. He's just teasing you, Azul.

Ahh, he sees.] Hmmm, that gotta suck. I can't imagine if you guys left and I was all alone. [Because, sure, Floyd is angry with Jade right now, but he would get over it with time. Normally he would be over it by now, but not with how Jade was acting... but that didn't mean he didn't want his brother, or Azul, around. He would be lonely without them.]

[Yeah, okay, he's tossing a crumpled up sticky note at Floyd. It doesn't even get close, but it's the principle of the thing.]

...I was here by myself for several months before Jade showed up. It isn't fun.

[And that may be part of the reason he went with Taichi, if he's honest. He's not, but still.]

[Haaaaa. Though any joy Floyd had from messing with Azul dropped away as he kept talking. He had been alone without them, hadn't he? Floyd wishes he could had changed that, that any of them had a choice in this. Then again, if Azul had a choice he wouldn't had left the Lounge, would he? Or find a way to run both of them at the same time. To set up some sort of import situation where he could bring stuff between worlds, that sounded like something Azul would try and set up.

...you know what, this needs them to do a thing, Floyd reaching out to grab Azul's wrist.] Come shopping with me. We can go look at the market and see if anything looks interesting for dishes. [To get past all this and forget about it for a bit. Of being apart, and being upset. Everything.]

[Azul still has work to do, but he lets Floyd grab his wrist and haul him to his feet. He can tell Floyd is Done and this is his way of saying he's Done while also getting Azul out.]

Fine, fine. You're not going to let that idea go, are you?

Nope~! [Not fully trusting Azul won't take this back, Floyd leads the way for them out of the kitchen as he still holds onto Azul's wrist, heading over so they could grab their hats and coats.]

It's for the restaurant, so it's still working! [And Floyd will really, really actually try to keep on plan and actually just go to look at new, seasonal ingredients and talk out ideas with Azul. Would that dedication stay all the way through their outing? Well... time would tell.] Plus we haven't had a chance to do stuff yet! It's always busy, or study, or something else going on.

You know I consider eating meals together "doing something", right?

[Because Azul is, to be frank, boring compared to most of his friends.]

At least I haven't tried to get you into board gaming~

I know! I like those too. [Especially with being so far from home. No friends to have lunch with in the cafeteria, no making himself a pain on random people at random tables. Oh, Floyd is about to mention how he and Taichi were talking about a meal together at sometime, but... until this is all sorted out with Jade maybe it's better Floyd keeps that to himself right now.

Then again, Taichi seems like a talker, so maybe it's a good idea to give Azul a heads up. Or just let him find out by himself, that would be funny... normally. Right now when things are weird? Maybe less so.] Oh, I told River Dolphin we'll do a meal thing all together sometime, to stop him just showing up with food for you at random.

[And no Azul, that's for this player's other account, not Floyd's.] Ahh! No! They're boring! We need a gaming console! Those are more fun! [Floyd did like the occasional gaming session, video games were much more exciting than being forced to sit around a table rolling dice or having a million rules to learn for some boring game.]

A gaming console with digital versions of board games?

[He so rarely trolls. Let him troll Floyd a little. Especially since. Well. That other thing gives him pause.]

[...] Is there video game board games? [You know what... this might be your best chance to get Floyd to play a board game, Azul.]

Yup! 'cause his hair is pink and he's super friendly. Not smart like a dolphin though. [Sorry Taichi, but it's true.]

[Success! Time to start searching for some! And also a console.]

...and you're not wrong. Though I suspect he's less likely to poke pufferfish just to get high as well.

[Adjusting his hat so it sat at the angle he liked, Floyd does at least wait by the door rather than just racing out without Azul.] He tried to recommend I made us hotdogs for the meal, [Floyd pulling a face at that.] I mean, I like them, but I don't wanna make them! You know how much work that would be to make sausages?! Then smoke them and all that! Plus it not fancy enough for here. [That was well beyond Floyd's interest in cooking. Sure, he's read how to do so, but it looks like it takes so long to do! Not when it's easier just to buy stuff. Time was money you know! Or at least time was needed for fun stuff, not boring stuff.]

Then he told me to make pigs in a blanket, which I pointed out was also a stupid idea. [Yeah, no mincing words with Floyd, he's not going to hold back if Taichi, or anyone, acts like an idiot.] I need to think of something else we all would like.

[He appreciates it, honestly. He always takes a little longer to get ready to go out, after all.]

He probably didn't even think about us making them from scratch and thought we would just get them from the store or something. [. . .] I'd be surprised if he knew that hot dogs don't just appear fully formed in the grocery store, honestly.

[Just saying.]

And it's terribly for my diet, but it's hard to go wrong with pasta or pizza, if push comes to shove.

Yeah, he strikes me as the type. [A very different mindset versus having to hunt for yourself. Sure, the Coral Sea had places to eat like Azul's family restaurant, but food was always around you, and sometimes you got hungry! You just had to catch it. And sometimes it would try and catch you.]

If I had a takoyaki pan I could invite him around for a party of that! [Floyd liked those! Not just with octopus either, but all sorts of stuff to put in them. Including hotdogs.]

I'll balance it out with stuff for you, that salad you really like, and anything you won't eat Jade and I will finish! [A moment of joy at the idea, then, oh yeah, he's angry at Jade, Floyd's smile fading away again.] Later though.

Later. After you and him hash whatever this is out.

[And probably work of any collateral damage.

He sighs.]

And after he and I do the same, likely. Bleh.

[Look, Floyd will try not to do any damage to the restaurant.

Until that plan falls through and all hell breaks lose. But he had the best intentions in mind! Reality just didn't match up to that.]

Ugh! If you two had done that already none of this would had happened! [Floyd whined, throwing his hands behind his head to link them there, all done without threatening to knock his hat loose.] If you two don't then I'll make you both talk. [And you won't want that, Azul. Trust him.]

You will not.

[Do not push him on this one, Floyd.]

I will handle it with Jade when he decides he's ready to talk to me. I still don't even know what about my outing with Taichi upset him so badly.

Yeahhh, but it's Jade. [Look, Floyd loves his brother. But he's also well away what Jade is like. Sometimes you do just have to beat the shit out of him to make him break out of being stuck in his head or his plans. But...] Fiiineee~, but if you both get bad again, I'm gonna. [He doesn't want a repeat of this all!

Floyd drops one hand back down again to hold open the door for Azul, too stuck in the habit of that little act to really fall out of it now.] I donno~, I wanna know too. [...can you hear the hamster running around it's wheel inside Floyd's head, Azul?] You trying to, ah, 'help' River Dolphin? Maybe he's trying to plan something.
