Scary Sea Shanties

[Jade had taken on the quest largely because he had mistakenly thought his merform would have an advantage if he got pulled in. And well he had been pulled in but hadn't anticipated getting zapped and it's taken him a moment to shake off the effect of it, even if he hadn't been hit full force.]

It almost makes... me wish... I was an... electric eel.. instead...

[Jade's able to heal himself enough to recover but he still feels shaky. He turns to you, his companion, who may or may not still be on the boat.]

How long until we can put her in her place?

TikTok Challenge

So I was wondering... [Jade said as he snapped a picture of a piece of steel wool and then glanced at his companion with a smile] ...if you would like to make this whole adventure a little more interesting? Not that the potential curse isn't intriguing on its own, but I believe it would be even more exciting to add a little wager to the adventure.

[He gives a smile, one that doesn't entirely hide his sharp teeth, but hopefully looks a little less threatening.]

I was thinking maybe whoever snaps the next picture first is owed a favor by the loser. What do you say?

Craft Fair: Tie the Knot

[Jade's a bit annoyed because he should have been more alert, but here he is tied to another person and he is supposed to share a secret with them?

Normally he'd relish the chance to find information on someone, but it being a mutual thing takes the fun out of it for him and he's trying to figure out how small a secret he can reveal.]

They sure are clever with these trust-building exercises, are they not?

I'm not sure if I'm going to top-level in the current event thread or not, but he will have gone along to Bermuda station, so if anyone has any ideas, throw them at me, or message and we can come up with something!

He will have also been around the job fair, since he works at Azul's restaurant and will be investigating other businesses, so that's another avenue.

Ahhh! That's not a fun tingling! [A chance to have some fun and maybe squeeze people with his brother? Of course Floyd is up for that! It sounded too much fun, and it's been far too long since they've had a chance to do that together in their true forms. And this mission sounded like it would be perfect for them, it's not like the Storm Hag could drown them, right?

Those claws on the other hand...

But at least the were both fast and agile under water, they should be able to keep their distance until they were ready to strike.] I donno, what your greeny magic thingy do? [No doubt Jade has told him already, but he either wasn't listening at the time or didn't bother remembering it right now.]

[Jade's managed to shake the rest of the effect off by now and swims backward a bit to assess.]

A lot of little things. I could probably try to entangle her in the seaweed or even the algae somehow, but we have to keep her distracted so I can do it before she notices.

[He was still developing his skills, so it wasn't as fast as Jade would like. At least not for this situation.] Think you can preoccupy her for a moment? You are always so good at making a scene.

[It would be better if they had the advantage of the territory, which... clearly both of them had assumed they would, or at least equal footing with their merforms. That static ability though... that was something that could end very badly if one or both of them got really hit by it. Sure, they wouldn't drown, but a stunned fish is an easy target for a predator. And Floyd has no intentions on making either of them prey.

The ideal thing to do was draw the Hag out into a place they had the advantage, or have a place to strike from at the right time. And Floyd would rather use someone else as bait... however, for his brother,] Yeah, I can do that. [Putting on a grin, trusting Jade completely. His brother would have a plan, and even if it didn't fully work out, Floyd was very good at making the most out of a situation. It was both of their strengths put together.]

[They probably should have thought this through a little more. But Jade's used to the ocean battles and duels back home. They had better magic at their disposal and long with Floyd's own special ability.]

Then if you could make it flashy...

[He knows that Floyd will indeed cover for him. His brother always manages to see a way out even when there shouldn't be one.] But let us get started then. [He curls his hand as he starts using that strange magic that Avalon has given him, drawing in the green things that rest below the surface. It'll take time though, thanks to the water still being a little too chilly for living things]

[It is almost as if despite their skills and abilities, they were just idiot teens who are still learning about how the world, or worlds, work...

Floyd grinned away with how Jade put it.] Okayy~! [He's not quite sure what he's planning to do yet, but Floyd would just make it up as he went along. As normal.

He darts away from Jade, making sure to flip his tail a bit more, to create more ripples through the water and to get the Storm Hag's attention on him and off Jade. That does include some risks, getting a bit closer to try and get her to lash out towards him, but far enough away so he can get away as needed. And also to try and break line of sight to Jade. Out of sight out of mind, right?]

Heeeyyy~, electric eel, you really donno who you're messing with, do ya? Or maybe I should call you hag fish instead, that sounds more suitable for you. [Clearly part of Floyd's plan was to irritate her into distraction, while also darting away as her claws got too close to him. After all, an angry person tends to act rather than think, and that's what he needs right now. No thinking of why they split up, only acting to try and get rid of him.]

Or maybe a deflated blob fish!

[Oh that seems to get her angry as she wheels around and begins to go after Floyd.

Floyd has always had a talent for irritating others and it was in full force here. It was one of the reasons Jade liked working with his brother so much. Not only was it entertaining to watch Floyd act up, but it allowed Jade to melt into the background.

Once Jade was content that he could work in relative peace, he poured more of his magic out, not only calling the greenery up but giving it more vigor, adding his healing magic into the mix. It took a bit of work but eventually, there was a large surge and a mass of green tendrils and and sludge, seaweed and various masses of algae swarmed the hag, binding her, causing a loud scream.]

Carful Floyd!

[He didn't have perfect control of it yet, so the last thing they needed was to risk Floyd being snagged as well.]

[Keeping a close eye on... whatever Jade was doing, Floyd grinned away at the Hag still going after him. Ehhh, this was too easy, stupid targets never kept a clear head in a fight. In fact it's kind of boring. Not that he's writing her off just yet, you never know what she might still have up her... well non existing sleeves, but he was hoping for a bit more fun out of this all.

Letting out a long 'haaaa' of a laugh, Floyd gave a wave of his hand to activate his own magic he's been working on, giving himself a boost of speed to almost fling him away from her as Jade's attack hit her. It does send him spinning tail over head until he gets control again, still training himself to get used to this, and this being the first time he's tried it under water... but he's rather pleased the simple 'push' spell worked on him.

He let out a louder and longer laugh at this all.] You got her! She all netted up! [That was great! Oh, wait... if it is like a net... hmm.] Can she bite through it?! [He yelled towards Jade as Floyd started making his way back to his brother, not seeming to care or be aware saying that might be a poor choice of words and give her ideas...]

[And the hag, having heard Floyd, ceased her thrashing and started chewing on the vines.] I guess she can. I should have made them poisonous.

[Jade frowned as he went to meet Floyd, reminding himself to figure out how to do that later on.] Can you end her with your magic, or do you want to go with the hands-on approach?

[To strangle or not to strangle, that was the question.]

[Hey! It's what Floyd would do if he got netted! You gotta get yourselves out of it before it dragged you down, or worse, up. Especially before they got their legs.]

Hmmmm, [Did he have options? Well, he's been practicing his kinetic magic a bunch and had fun with that. His other magic... he's been wanting an excuse to use it, a wide and slow grin pulling across his face as he brought up his hand to squeeze at his shoulder on the other side, that expression on his face of when he's been given freedom to deal with those causing trouble at the Lounge...] I gotta idea, but I'll need your help with it. [And he knows Jade will.

Before lifting his left arm and biting hard into the underside of his forearm. Yeah, ok, that hurt, but he's gotten used to the fact this was just part of it, and this wasn't the time to be overly cautious while they were at risk. That and it's typical Floyd, more focused on the now than the later. As his blood seeped out from the bite marks, he allowed it to start collecting in the water around him before lifting that same hand to bring it all together, it forming into a long rope that wrapped around his hand before coiling off.] I think she'd make a good anchor at the bottom of the ocean... we just need to loop-d-loop it around her. [After all, they were both fast and agile in the water, Floyd was confident they had the speed to pull this off, flicking the 'rope' up enough for Jade to catch the other side of it as he drew the finger of his other hand across his neck, motioning where he's planning to aim for on her.]

[Jade catches the rope and wishes he had more time to look it over but then nods at Floyd.]

Then let's proceed to ensnare the lady.

[He starts to swim around her, making sure to position his arm so that they will indeed have her by the throat. Fortunately, she's still too caught up in chewing herself free to realize what shall soon happen to her.]

It's just like the old days, isn't it Floyd!?

[All those times when they'd teamed up together to take on strong opponents working together while using their cunning and creativity to win the day.]

Been too long. [Floyd agreed as he swam to keep pace with Jade, making sure they were both lining up as the got closer. And when close enough... kicking up the speed. They needed to be fast at this, and they were certainly that when the twins really got going. They had many years of getting into trouble they shouldn't had, and more importantly, getting out of it. This should be a piece of cake for them.

Diving down into the depths with that 'rope' between them, Floyd keeps a close eye on their proximity to the Hag and when they would have to start changing their trajectory, waiting for that right moment to loop around her and...] Nowwww~! [Floyd zipping under and around her, mindful to leave room for Jade to do the same on the other side, before up and over, criss-crossing to get a loop around the Hag's neck...

Then diving again, Floyd making sure to keep his grip on that rope tight so it would knot deep against her skin and all that stuff Jade had wrapped around her. You know what, let's take it another step, just to make sure this worked, a slight shift of his hand as angled spikes shot out from the sides of the rope that dug into her neck, angled to dig and not let go, as the boys dragged her down into the depths. What they would do with her once they were down there... Floyd doesn't know. He just knew how to get her down there. Hopefully Jade will have an idea.]

[As they pull her down, Jade is thinking a bit about how to do this. The simplest way is to kill her of course.

And if they continue strangling her like this, they will succeed. Even if she's an aquatic creature, she still needs oxygen to reach her brain. And even putting that aside, she may likely bleed out from the spikes on the ligature around her neck.]

Floyd, please find a boulder to tie your end, and I shall do the same. Once we have her in place, I think we should also find a rock to pin her down if need be. It's going to take her a long time to give up.

[She's struggling really hard, and there is murder in her eyes. It will take a while for her to die and he doubts negotiation is an option at this point.]

[Azul had joked when Floyd arrived here, for him to not go around killing anyone, to which Floyd questioned if he really thought he would do such a thing. The thing was... on the surface of course he hasn't considered it, but under the water... that was a different story. So much of it was life or death. If you didn't take out the predator hunting you, you became the prey. And Floyd refuses for Jade or him to become prey.]

Okaayyy, [See? Floyd knew Jade would come up with a plan and way to wrap this up. He could always count on him for that.] I donno if I need to keep contact to keep it working though, so I'll have to stay with it. [It's not something Floyd has tried yet, he was guessing it would just smoosh back into liquid again if he stopped touching his blood magic.

As they reach the seafloor, Floyd does wonder out loud as he looks for a large enough object to weigh her down.] Were we suppose to kill her, or just stop her? [He's not sure, he doesn't remember the information they were given. Would they get in trouble if she just... vanished? Or would no one care?]

They didn't really specify, now did they? And I think that fact that they needed help in containing her means that she isn't easily negotiated with.

[The directions were so vague on that account, that Jade's just going with using his best judgment. Which of course would probably not be many other people's idea of fair here.]

And Ah, there is a good weight to use.

[Jade said, nodding towards an ancient-looking anchor embedded in the sea floor.] Let's drag her over there and then I shall pull it on top of her.

[The hag gives a rough yank on the binding on her, realizing the danger she's in.] My my, she's becoming fiesty.

[Okay! First things first, tying her down, Floyd following Jade's orders, using their speed to help keep her under control, but also knowing as soon as they slowed down she may be able to wiggle her way out of that grip they had on her. And thinking things over as he did. He... thinks he knows what has to happen, but he would still like Jade's view on this all. They were in this together, after all.]

I could tighten it and take her head off. [A moment of silence as he looks away from the Hag to his twin.] We don't wanna be the prey after all, right? [It's not quite asking Jade's permission, more if he agreed with this or could think of something else.] It'd be worse just to lock her down here somewhere until she starved. [And maybe if she had done something to Floyd personally he would think that was the better, more malicious, punishment for her... but she hasn't. She was just a job, as cold as it sounded. After all,] It would be kinder to just finish her. [Kindness was important...]

[Jade thinks for a moment, tilting his head. It is better to kill her fast. Because he doesn't think they can keep her down for long. Especially with the way she is tugging against them. Her appearance belies just how strong she is and if she's slowed down a little, it's probably because she's conserving strength until the right moment.]

That might be best. I was thinking of crushing her head, but there are no guarantees it will finish her off. As for stabbing, we would have to get closer than I'd like, even with something like a spear. Her reach is rather longer.

[He nods then.] Let us do that. It is as you say, kinder. [So many people meet far worse ends under the waves.]

Okay, [Had Floyd considered this would be the outcome when he went on this mission? Of course not, but that's because he hadn't thought ahead that far. All he had wanted to do was have some fun with Jade. The fact it turned out this way, well... it had. Even now there's not too much future thought with him, just how to finish this situation without either of them getting hurt. If it came back to haunt him later... he would just have to deal with it, right?

Zipping over to Jade, Floyd held his hand out for the other side of the rope] Gimme, I don't want you getting hurt. [Just in case he doesn't control it right. He is still getting the hang of it after all.

Before calling out to the Hag.] Sorry lady, but you know how it is! There's always someone stronger under the sea! [Maybe not the most elegant of send offs, but as much as she would get from Floyd. As a mass of blades sprouted out near his hand grip, a line of them shooting up towards the middle of the 'rope' before they dug into her flesh and a tug of his arm later...

There was now two parts to the Hag floating around, the 'rope' slipping free between them and drifting calmly in the water around them. Floyd's quietly watching on for a moment before he allows the blood rope to just disperse into the water around them.] We should go before sharks sniff us out.

[Jade watches Floyd work, making sure to keep on guard in case the hag does break free or something else comes upon them. One of them needs to be quick to act should the worst happen.

It's fast, violent work. As expected of Floyd. And as the scent of blood fills the water, Jade's gills twitch in annoyance and he swims out of the way.]

Yes, let's get out of here. I've had enough fighting for today. [Jade enjoys a good thrill as much as the next merman, but engagements like this are exhausting.] You did well, as expected. Do you want to get something to eat once we're back on land?

[If it sounds nonchalant it's merely because Jade is mentally calculating exactly what kind of trouble they could be in if any. Which could be nothing at all. But it could also be anything judging by certain debates he's seen on the network.]

[Floyd liked fighting. He was good at it. But this... wasn't fighting. This wasn't fun. It was necessary... however Jade's comment about food allowed that emotion switch within Floyd to flip back to normal, a smile crossing his face.] Yeahhh~, I'd like that. I want something sweet and crunchy.

Oh, Jade, [Floyd spoke as he swam to catch up with Jade, holding out his arm he had bitten, blood still trailing out of it from the bite marks within it.] Can you heal me up once we back on the surface? I don't think I bit too deep, but don't think it gonna stop. [The risks and issues of blood magic.]

[No it's definitely not fun, but what's done is done and it's time to brush it off. And Jade's already thinking on what place they should go that would best suit Floyd's tastes.]

And yes, I shall. Let me know if you become lightheaded on the way up though. [It was so lucky that he knew Healing and Azul knew Alchemy so that Floyd had some source of healing. But once they broke the surface, Jade gestured towards Floyd.] Let me see that then.

[Once their heads were above the surface Floyd held his arm out for Jade to check over as he glanced around for the boat they had arrived here with. Sure, they could just swim back to shore, and that may even be faster, but he guesses they should bring it back too. And it was easy to lose something on the surface when swimming under the water, things shifted more than you expected.

The wound itself was, well, as much as could be expected for Floyd having bit into himself, two lines of his upper and lower teeth having sunk into his arm. Luckily it was rather 'neat' considering his teeth, no tearing or anything, but their teeth really were designed to easily cut through things.] It kinda sucks, ya know? I gotta hurt myself to do that blood magic stuff. [Hmmm.] You think it'd be weird for me to carry blood bags around?

[Jade runs his hands over the wound and begins to pour magic into it. It's not been long enough for it to get infected at least and Jade can already see it begin to close up.]

It probably wouldn't hurt, though I'd think it would be hard to keep them fresh. Unless blood magic can preserve blood outside the body. [Jade is thankful that he doesn't have to deal with something so inconvenient.] Are you feeling woozy from the blood loss? If so I can help pull you back on the boat.

That or it would get really gross. [Floyd continues as he bobs there, waiting for Jade to do his magic.] Maybe I can make them throw up that way, [He grinning away, clearly amused at his own idea.] Then they really couldn't fight.

[Taking his arm back the instant it seemed Jade was done, Floyd looked it over, examining to see if he could see where that bite mark had once been, and was pleased to see how well it was healed.] Thaannkss~! I'm fine! Let's go! I'm hungry! [Floyd more than ready to move on from this all. He seems fine heading back to the boat. Though once there he does pour himself in head first with a rather heavy THUD, tail flailing over the edge of the boat.] Ugh! [Ok, he may be fine in the water, but he may need a bit of help once back on land.]

I'm fine! [Some more wiggling around before he seems to remember to transform, and suddenly he's kicking his legs up out of the water and into the boat completely.]

[That is disgusting, Jade thinks to himself but chooses not to comment because he does actually want to keep his own growing appetite.

But once they get to the boat, Jade starts to haul himself up, only to pause when Floyd takes that tumble and laughs.] That was a nice face plant.

[He manages to slide himself into the boat with a lot more grace and changes with, well about as much grace as his possible. It does take a moment to raise to his fee though, feeling unsteady.] I'm actually glad we're not swimming back. I'm tired.

I forgot to change. [Really, it's lucky he didn't capsize the boat by doing that. Squirming around so he got right side up again before getting back into his seat.] Yeah, but we're faster. [The boat was so slow compared to them!] I could use my magic to get us back faster! [That... may not be a good idea. What Floyd considered fast and what others considered fast could be very, very different at times...]
