The Fairy Queen sends out an invitation for all otherworlders to an eccentric party with ulterior motives that aren't necessarily bad.. after all, they're protecting players from a ritualistic curse cast by escaped convicts from the Elphame prison. But that doesn't mean it's the party's entirely safe either. |
CONTENT WARNINGS:
- 1st Prompt: Mild elements of body horror in the fairy queen's description (paragraph starting with "Opening the message"); this paragraph is description only and may be skipped without loss of content.
- 2nd Prompt: Ball prompts include reference to drugs, alcohol, smooching, and fake murder.
- 3rd Prompt: May have potential for mild body horror depending on player preference, as it features cynanthropy/lycanthropy.

Atop her head, a headpiece made of platinum formed into the tiniest branches, filled with leaves of precious stones- diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and moldavite trailing down in long chains that keep her hair out of her face. Her lips are just slightly parted, painted in what seems to be an enchanted design that shifts patterns as she moves, as if they were a green screened galaxy in real life. There is a stud in the bow of her lips, and the top of her clothing appears to be colorful, but is only visible toward the top of her frame, as her top is low-cut to account for the fungi. A number of small stitched scars are visible, but largely healed. She tilts her head slightly. Even though it's only a video recording, it feels as though she is looking directly at your character. "You are busy bees..." Whether or not your character understood what was actually said or their brain shut down in the middle of those barely benign instructions, they may additionally notice fairy circles made of tiny mushrooms start to crop up regardless of where they are in Avalon. ![]()
Once night falls, if a character dances in them they will be transported to a costume party within the ballroom of the fairy queen in Nicnevin. Costumes will be magically applied upon arrival, based on a favorite childhood fantasy. (Did they want to be an astronaut? A dinosaur? A cowboy? A cat? That's what they'll appear as.)
1. If your character or anyone they know uses your character's name or reveals enough information about themself, they will become unable to disobey the fairy queen in future events. They've technically been warned about this in the fairy queen's message, even if it wasn't easy to understand. B. Alternately, you can have your character's name be captured by a more mischievous party guest fae and play with that as you will. You can be released either by someone else killing your captured fae for you, or the fae saying your name backward. So if your character's name is Stevie, they would have to trick the fairy into saying Eivets. This option to NPC your own fae captor is endable on your own terms, but 1a will be on the fae queen's terms down the line.
3. Dancing, food (fairy food*), psychedelics and drink will be provided to those of age who want them throughout the night. If the partygoers don't seem to be having a good time or the party grows dull, the fairy queen (dressed in the award-winning submission to the Elphame Trader's contest some time ago) will make a demand participation in a party game. If your character is standing around and not participating in the general activities, they may be coerced to participate. Anyone may join willingly as well, of course. The following party games will be played throughout the night: |
Spin the Bottle, Elphame Rules: Fairies are quite randy creatures at times, and the first game played is none other than spin the bottle. The rules are as such: when it is your turn, you are blinded by fairy magic and must spin the bottle. Once the bottle stops spinning, the person the bottle lands on will kiss them. The person who is kissed must guess who from the circle kissed them; a correct guess will mean they stay in and the blindness spell will be lifted. An incorrect guess will eject them from the circle and they will wander around blind for the duration of the game until a winner is declared. Feel free to play out gameplay or your character needing assistance after being ejected from the game circle. |

Balloon Game: |

Helping to empower otherworlders to improve their chances of saving the world is the kind of task that can be a little.. subjective. A little questionable when it comes to consent, at times. After all, no one is here with their consent and no one was bonded with their familiar or given magic with their consent. What's a little more empowerment? Certainly, a group of imprisoned lycanthrope wizards seem to think they have something of a solution to increasing other worlders' potentials: a ritual using the Wolf Moon of January's full moon cycle to transform unprotected otherworlders into fellow cynanthropes or, in layman's terms, werewolves and other types of weredogs. Anyone not protected (at the party) will be affected by the curse ritual. |
| |
Cynanthropes in Avalon have the following characteristics:
If your character did not attend the party, left the fairy queen's party, or wasn't at the Red Springs (protected by the mysterious crystals that turn it red during the full moon-- conveniently for your excuse not to participate in either prompt if you want to opt out!) they will become a werewolf or weredog. |

Storm guy...?
[She knows his name but was it okay to use it? She's not sure how to navigate through these interpersonal relationships.]
...would you like to take a walk around?
[ She could've proposed a game or dancing, but she felt, he wouldn't like either of them. Chrome just wants to make it appear that Gokudera's interacting to some extent. Walking around seems harmless, right? She waits while holding her breath, but she understands if he declines the offer.]
no subject
Mist.
[He gives her a nod in greeting. Best they stick to something other than names, so… sneaky mafia titles it is!
But at the offer, he’s glancing away, actively considering walking around. It can’t be all bad. The Tenth is on his mind, and he’s trying not to be concerned. Something happened, and he feels a failure for not being able to help.]
Fine.
[Gokudera had partied so hard the end of last month, he really just wants to be a wallflower. It’s enough to see the people he knows having a good time, and he has to actively avoid a few other people who don’t like him.
The fae queen might not appreciate him smoking indoors or fighting other people, so he’s just settled on lurking… hiding out in the open.]
You been having fun?
[He chews the unlit cigar prop that appeared with his outfit. This fits him better than the actual suit he’d been worrying over and trying to make look perfect for this. What a waste of an afternoon.]
no subject
She's silent as Gokudera agrees to walk around. Just for a little while, before they bother to return to their respective positions of being wallflowers. She doesn't ask about what's bothering him, instead choosing to answer his question instead.
She looks down at her feet, before lifting her head to focus on the other people mingling around them.]
Um...I don't really like big gatherings like this, but I decided to come because of that message.
[ She didn't exactly know what Queen is protecting them from or did she understand the entire message, but she had a gut feeling that coming here would be beneficial for her.]
Still...I do like that everyone is dressed up.
[ She blushes a little. Even if she tends to hang with the boys, she's still very much a girly girl at heart. It's almost like a fairytale to attend a ball and wear a fancy dress, so she's enjoying the atmosphere. Speaking of dressing up, she notices Gokudera's outfit as well. She doesn't know the Storm's past to know it's linked to his father, but she figures it has something to do with Tsuna.]
A-and you look nice, too. Are you emulating Boss?
no subject
Try not to eat any of the food provided here. You can’t really trust the fae… I’ve got a bad feeling being here.
[He is a walking bundle of bad feelings.]
Yeah, that’s neat.
[Sure whatever. Gokudera isn’t in his usual style. It feels familiar, having some kind of clothing enchantment or whatever happen. Takes him back to his time on Amoi.
More reason to dislike this party.
His girlfriend’s dressed up like a fairy princess, and his boyfriend a soldier. Gokudera wonders if he should introduce Mist to either of them.]
No. My dad.
[It’s okay to be surprised, Chrome. You’re the only one who knows so far!]
no subject
Oh! She does have chocolate snacks that she always carries around. Luckily her dress comes with pockets and she pulls out a handful of small chocolate candies.]
...do you want some?
[ He's in a bad mood, but Chrome doesn't seem put off by it. She's kind of used to people being a bit irritated, and sometimes that annoyance was directed towards her.
She pauses at that big reveal, and it's almost a bit too causal on Gokudera's part since she's not sure how to process that information. It shouldn't be too surprising, they all have some tie to the mafia whether by blood or by association.]
...is that why you joined Boss?
[It only makes sense that since he's born into the mob and admired his father as a kid, then he probably had ambitions to be in the mafia as well.]
no subject
But he does need something to chew on. At this rate his cuticles are bound to bleed, his lip is bound to have a hole in it, and his stomach might do most of his talking tonight.
He holds out his hand, willingly accepting her offer.]
Thank you.
[He ate before coming here, but that was lunch… a snack some three hours ago.]
No. I joined because of the Ninth and Reborn-san.
[It was either be a respectable mafioso or be a pianist, and he’d learned the hard way that no one in the mafia saw a pianist as useful. The costume would be a suit either way.]
Because we were around the same age. Reborn originally wanted me to kill the Tenth for his position.
[He eats one of the candies.]
I failed, of course.
[He fails at most everything except for self-expression. If it’s defeating someone to gain better standing, or to look cool, or for the mafia, he ends up the loser most of the time. His poor value of himself is also partly to blame. If Gokudera accepted himself or practiced some self-love every once in a while, things could go much better for him.
Except for this whole quitting smoking things. That just sucks from every angle.]
no subject
To be honest, she doesn't know much about Tsuna and his guardians. She only met everyone in the middle of ring battles. There wasn't much time to get to know each other then. So Chrome always felt like an outsider. When they traveled to the future, being able to live within the Vongola Secret base was the only time Chrome was able to interact with everyone daily. Although Millefiore was a constant, looming threat for them, she did enjoy her time with everyone.
So it's interesting to hear how Gokudera met Tsuna. She's a little surprised that Reborn and the Ninth had orchestrated the meeting. The silver-haired teen had said it was to kill Tsuna, but from what she's noticed about the Arcobaleno and Mukuro's esteem for the infant that may not be entirely true. Perhaps, they saw potential in Gokudera and wanted to find some way to bring him over to their side? Or maybe it was an unexpected turn of events? There's no way to truly know.]
Maybe...but isn't this path better? If you became the boss, instead, would you be satisfied?
[ It's proof enough that even the ninth's adopted son couldn't even ascend the throne. The Vongola rings seem to be pretty determined to keep the lineage within their bloodlines. Though that doesn't seem to matter, she wonders if that's what Gokudera wanted in the first place.]
Aren't you happier by Boss's side?
no subject
But the candy helps keep him occupied and he’s breathing a little easier, chewing out the tension.
After the Ninth picked him up, he spent a year or so with the Vongola. The mission to Namimori to kill Tsuna was one he only took on as an opportunity to prove himself to the Vongola. Tsuna sparing him changed everything.]
I’m happier at the boss’s side than fulfilling any hope my father would have wanted.
[His dad didn’t care when he ran away, why should Gokudera’s steps into adulthood matter now?]
I never want to follow anyone else.
no subject
She's grateful that Tsuna has extended the same kindness and consideration towards her. It's a shame that Boss isn't here with them tonight, though. It did make her think of recent events, although she's not aware that's partially the reason for Gokudera's mood.]
The other day...he did come up to me. I think the same thing that happened to you, happened to Boss. He seemed pretty rattled.
[Chrome frowns looking down at her hands. She feels bad, she couldn't say more to relieve her boss's worries, but she knows he'll be okay.]
Hopefully, he doesn't think badly of me for not telling him everything, but I don't want to worry him even more.
no subject
Gokudera has grown a lot and sometimes it can feel like such a monumental change that there is a rift between him and his boss. But… thinking about how the Tenth left and returned puts them on a better level of understanding.
Chrome brings it up so politely that he’s appreciative of her. She’s not telling him as if it is something he needs to panic about this very moment. It is something that happened. The Tenth knows that he has their support. As Guardians and friends.]
Yeah. The Tenth went back home and finished up things in the future. I’d be more surprised if he weren’t rattled.
[Gokudera could feel bad, but he has to do his best for Tsuna.]
I think it’s better now that it’s all settled, and he isn’t left wondering how it could have turned out. The Tenth had control there, and now in this world… I think it’s just a big adjustment for all of us.
[He wonders how Chrome feels about Mukuro. Gokudera doesn’t like the guy, but…]
Are you okay without Mukuro around?
[Gokudera flounders a bit, even blushes some and then looks away. Ugh embarrassing.]
If you don’t want to tell me, that’s fine! It’s not really my business…
no subject
So Gokudera's question doesn't come as a surprise, since Chrome had wondered the same thing when she first arrived. Will she be okay? However before she came here, she had already resolved to be her own person and to learn to rely on her own strength.]
...yes.
[She notices that the storm guardian gets a little flustered, but the illusionist only smiles.]
I know...I've relied on him a lot. There were even people who used me to get to him. I didn't want to be the person holding him back. So, I had to draw the line for myself, I have to be independent and strong for me.
[ She then blushes as an afterthought.]
I will miss talking to him, though.
no subject
They’ll do their best to help him.
He doesn’t know Dokuro very well, but every time he’s seen her, it’s always been around Mukuro in one way or another. Through her. Gokudera won’t pretend he doesn’t notice how she’d seemed to rely on him.]
Good!
[Truly, he’s happy that she is alright without Mukuro. Gokudera supports her being her own person. He’s giving her a soft expression as she talks, nodding.]
I’m happy for you.
[and maybe a little shy, but not embarrassed to say as much.]
Just remember you aren’t alone, yeah?
no subject
She then looks down at her hands feeling a bout of shyness as well, but actually, she's happy.]
...thank you.
[ She knows she's not alone. However, one of her issues is seeking out help from others. Except for the times that Mukuro comes to her rescue, she usually tries to handle things on her own. She doesn't want to burden anyone with her issues, but she realizes that kind of thinking is problematic too. She wants to work on that, too.]
If I have a problem, I'll reach out to you and Boss.
[That's a start. Thankfully, she hasn't experienced too many mishaps and things in Avalon have been relatively quiet.]
So...how's Larry?
[She can't help but be curious about Gokudera's mischievous plesiosaur. He was sweet to her last time, so she has the familiar on her mind.]
no subject
It took him a good long time to feel like he could be a part of the family and not just to be the Tenth’s Right-hand. It still means a great deal to him, but… being Tsuna’s friend is more important than growing a family that does not serve the boss’s will, which he believes is to keep them safe, support those he cares about, and grow strong enough to welcome anyone who needs their help until they can help those around them.]
You’re welcome.
[He doesn’t expect her to reach out for help any time soon. Hell, he’d show up just to hype her up! She’s never done anything wrong, according to him. Not her fault Mukuro took advantage of her, if you ask him.]
Hm? Oh he’s fine. Ate all my cigarettes as soon as he found out I wasn’t going to smoke anymore.
[And Gokudera gave his last pack to Hijikata before attending the party.]
no subject
[ She blinks her eye a couple of times as she tries to compute what Gokudera said. Larry ate all of his cigarettes?! It's great that Gokudera has decided to quit, but was his familiar going to be okay?]
H-he ate all your cigarettes...and he's fine?!
[ Their familiars were magical, so the small sea creature probably was fine. Though Chrome is still a little concerned. Cigarettes were bad for people, so she can only imagine how it might affect the plesiosaur to consume them whole.]
I guess...he was being supportive?
no subject
[Gokudera says it so nonchalantly. Like people get beheaded every day around him.]
He’ll probably turn them into pearls or something. Sucks, though. I gave my last pack away without thinking on it, and it’s giving me a wild headache.
[Not her problem. Nor anyone else’s. He’s just bitching because that’s what he does.]
no subject
Though she does look a little concerned when he mentions the headache. It must be withdrawal symptoms.]
I have no idea what you must be feeling, but I hope you stick with it. Maybe drinking some water might help, or caffeine? But...what made you decide to quit?
[Is this something that Gokudera always wanted to do? Or maybe something new prompted him to make this change?]
no subject
It is what it is.
[The headache is there. That’s what he’s feeling. Gokudera shrugs at Chrome and her suggestion. It’s not a bad idea.]
Yeah… Maybe. Hm? Oh. I have elemental and light magic. I can light fuses without the need for cigarettes, and don’t need a free hand.
[But also he knows he should look out for his health more. To keep his boss from worrying about him, because the Tenth is a caring person like that.]
no subject
[ It's true that he could light his fuses with his magic versus his cigarettes. Chrome really didn't think much of the functionality his smoking had to do with his bombs, but now she does. It was just convenient, and probably out of habit. Maybe style had a bit to do with that choice too.
Though, there was no reason to continue on with such a bad, unhealthy habit if he didn't need to.]
So that means you still use your bombs?
[ The last time she met Gokudera, he didn't really use them since Larry was more than helpful for their needs.]
Have you been able to incorporate them with your magic? Kind of like what you did in the future?
no subject
He’s had more than some sense knocked into him throughout the last three years or so without the rest of the family to support. With him being lesser than the other guardians, and them carrying on with ease, ignoring his existence or viewing him as an inconvenience.]
Yeah. I always have them on me.
[Which he won’t be telling just anyone, because a little well-placed elemental magic could make him explode and probably hurt more than a few people around him.]
It bombs work well enough with elemental magic. The light magic helps with creating illusions, and helping me set traps. So… it’s sort of similar? I don’t have a cannon in Avalon, and Uri can’t help me like he used to. I feel sorry for him most of all, actually…
Did you ever meet him? I can’t remember… he was that little cat. Here he’s…
[Gokudera goes from holding his hands together to indicate Uri’s size as a kitten, to holding his hand at around his knee’s height to show the difference.]
A leopard. Nothing more or less, really. Familiar company and an extra mouth to feed.
[Maybe he can save some gold by giving up smoking, and then he can spend his savings on getting better meats for the leopard living in his apartment.]
no subject
She then tilts her head to the side.]
Uri? ...He's here?
[ Chrome believes she has seen Uri before but never had the chance to interact with the feline. Anytime he was out, they were dealing with the Real Funeral Wreaths and it wasn't the time to get acquainted. Though, Chrome has admired the leopard from afar.]
I'd like to see Uri, he's gotten really big.
[Talking about Uri makes Chrome think about Mukurou, perhaps she could bring the owl to Avalon someday. As Gokudera mentions, it'll be another mouth to feed, but the presence of the box animal would be comforting.]
Is Uri...well-behaved?
[She says it carefully remembering how defiant the leopard cub was.]
no subject
[It’s a long story and he doesn’t want to kill the mood or bore her.]
I’m sure he’d like to see you as well.
[Gokudera nods.]
Yes and no. He doesn’t try to run away like I thought he might. He’s a fan of every person he sees, and ignores me most of the time when he isn’t hungry.
no subject
Although the purple-haired teen's eye lights up at hearing Uri would be excited to see her. She should be afraid to be around such a big cat, but she doesn't think she could ever be wary of any feline. Even Boss's Natsu is pretty cute and so like the brunette.]
Do you think so? Hmm? What type of food does Uri eat? I can pick him up a snack.
[ She then frowns when Gokudera admits that his box animal tends to ignore him unless he's feeding him. She raises her hand to pat Gokudera's shoulder sympathetically, but she hesitates. Would he mind? She debates her action in her head for a moment, before following through. There, there.]
I know Uri cares for you. He just...doesn't like to show it all the time. Cats can be pretty particular.
no subject
He eats a lot of meat. His favorite is fish, though! The fresher, the better! But if you can’t get a hold of it, that’s fine.
[Gokudera blinks at her patting his shoulder, and gives a small smile. Wow, the guts on her to touch him so readily! He approves. Chrome is not annoying, so her hesitant attempt to comfort him is appreciated.]
I got so used to him being a cute little kitten, I guess. I miss that side of him.
no subject
She does study Gokudera as he reacts to the pat on his shoulder. She unintentionally braces herself for...something. She doesn't expect he'll act violently towards her, but she's cautious only because of past experiences. Though it eases her to see him smile.
She nods understanding a little how Gokudera feels. It's even hard for her to imagine Uri growing bigger, she's so used to seeing him as a kitten.]
Well, no matter how big he grows, he'll always be that kitten! Though having such a big cat around must have its challenges. Does Uri claw up the furniture? And when he plays, does he make a big mess?
[ Chrome can only imagine the trouble the leopard gets up to.]
