The Fairy Queen sends out an invitation for all otherworlders to an eccentric party with ulterior motives that aren't necessarily bad.. after all, they're protecting players from a ritualistic curse cast by escaped convicts from the Elphame prison. But that doesn't mean it's the party's entirely safe either.

CONTENT WARNINGS:

1st Prompt: Mild elements of body horror in the fairy queen's description (paragraph starting with "Opening the message"); this paragraph is description only and may be skipped without loss of content.
2nd Prompt: Ball prompts include reference to drugs, alcohol, smooching, and fake murder.
3rd Prompt: May have potential for mild body horror depending on player preference, as it features cynanthropy/lycanthropy.

The night before the full moon, a message is sent out to all the otherworlders in the land. In each person's inbox, the message sender reads simply "ELPHAME" and appears to have a verified account, despite that looking into it doesn't seem to reveal much content. The profile pic is simply a picture of a mushroom. Opening the message will reveal a video recording. For the first full minute, a woman simply stares into the video through one pure white eye and one wholly black eye. Her hair is white and fair and longer than can be seen in the video of her torso. Her skin is sallow, gray more than any other color, and her décolleté is peppered with what seems to be shells of mushrooms growing out of her flesh like they would on a tree, patches of bleeding tooth mushroom creeping down the side of her neck.
Atop her head, a headpiece made of platinum formed into the tiniest branches, filled with leaves of precious stones- diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and moldavite trailing down in long chains that keep her hair out of her face. Her lips are just slightly parted, painted in what seems to be an enchanted design that shifts patterns as she moves, as if they were a green screened galaxy in real life. There is a stud in the bow of her lips, and the top of her clothing appears to be colorful, but is only visible toward the top of her frame, as her top is low-cut to account for the fungi. A number of small stitched scars are visible, but largely healed. She tilts her head slightly. Even though it's only a video recording, it feels as though she is looking directly at your character. "You are busy bees..." A soft voice speaks, almost as if the wind itself is whispering in your ear and not from a recorded video. "Busy bees could barely bother, but bother is basically all you do. I bequeath you busy bees a bidding. Bother blithely, busy bees, in Elphame as bristling beauties are bound to do. A ball before you, beneath the Wolf's Moon big and bright, betwixt burgeoning fae blooms. Do not baa, do not bray, bruin nor boar will keep big bad wolf at bay. Bop and bounce, ballet you may, or brawl your basest behaviors in my ballroom before break of day. Broadcast not your boorish bumf, though, or busy bees will be broken brisker than bats banished from Beelzebub's borders and bound. Bless my bestowal and with bated breath I shall bade you betokened truth, if truth be told." Whether or not your character understood what was actually said or their brain shut down in the middle of those barely benign instructions, they may additionally notice fairy circles made of tiny mushrooms start to crop up regardless of where they are in Avalon.
	Once night falls, if a character dances in them they will be transported to a costume party within the ballroom of the fairy queen in Nicnevin. Costumes will be magically applied upon arrival, based on a favorite childhood fantasy. (Did they want to be an astronaut? A dinosaur? A cowboy? A cat? That's what they'll appear as.) You can choose from any age of childhood for your character, depending on whether you want to go funny or more serious about their later childhood dreams. Whatever your character chooses to do as part of the party, the following party happenings should be noted:
1. If your character or anyone they know uses your character's name or reveals enough information about themself, they will become unable to disobey the fairy queen in future events. They've technically been warned about this in the fairy queen's message, even if it wasn't easy to understand. B. Alternately, you can have your character's name be captured by a more mischievous party guest fae and play with that as you will. You can be released either by someone else killing your captured fae for you, or the fae saying your name backward. So if your character's name is Stevie, they would have to trick the fairy into saying Eivets. This option to NPC your own fae captor is endable on your own terms, but 1a will be on the fae queen's terms down the line. 2. The party itself is a protected area; refusal to attend or leaving the party before sunset will subject characters to the Wolf's Moon, which has been put under a ritual by a prisoner group released from the fae prison during the previous dark web quest, Banyanished. This ball is being held as a gift to otherworlders to protect them from the second part of this event. (See below for details.) Characters will be told that they are in a protective area if they try to leave and to trust the fairy queen, but will not be forced to stay against their will by the fae. The only people who may try to stop your character from leaving beyond telling them this information are other player characters. 3. Dancing, food (fairy food), psychedelics and drink will be provided to those of age who want them throughout the night. If the partygoers don't seem to be having a good time or the party grows dull, the fairy queen (dressed in the award-winning submission to the Elphame Trader's contest some time ago) will make a demand participation in a party game*. If your character is standing around and not participating in the general activities, they may be coerced to participate. Anyone may join willingly as well, of course. The following party games will be played throughout the night:

Spin the Bottle, Elphame Rules:

Fairies are quite randy creatures at times, and the first game played is none other than spin the bottle. The rules are as such: when it is your turn, you are blinded by fairy magic and must spin the bottle. Once the bottle stops spinning, the person the bottle lands on will kiss them. The person who is kissed must guess who from the circle kissed them; a correct guess will mean they stay in and the blindness spell will be lifted. An incorrect guess will eject them from the circle and they will wander around blind for the duration of the game until a winner is declared. Feel free to play out gameplay or your character needing assistance after being ejected from the game circle.

Truth or Dare:

The standard game of truth or dare. Don't forget to be very careful, as certain truths may have dire consequences. (See point 1, be very careful.) You can play issuing and completing dares or asking and answering truths with other player characters or receive dares from NPC'd fairies, which may escalate to dangerous and magical lengths. The only solid rule is that no dares are permitted to require exiting the party to complete, and lying during a truth gives permission to fairies to steal your tongue from you if they discover your lie at any point, even after the party is over.

Balloon Game:
Everyone loves a good murder game! Everyone is outfitted with a single balloon. You may secure the balloon to yourself for 2 minutes before the start of the game. In the center of the game circle is a pile of close-range weapons varying in usefulness from binoculars and pots to knives, slingshots, axes and more. Magic is also permitted. If your balloon "pops" you are "dead" and will float to the ceiling to fly around until the end of the game, out of harm's way. Do not commit any actual murder or the balloon of the deceased will immediately wrap around you in a full rubber bodysuit and imprison you until the fairy queen can deal judgment. (If this happens, notify a mod so we can discuss Queen Elphame's judgment with you OOC.)

Helping to empower otherworlders to improve their chances of saving the world is the kind of task that can be a little.. subjective. A little questionable when it comes to consent, at times. After all, no one is here with their consent and no one was bonded with their familiar or given magic with their consent. What's a little more empowerment? Certainly, a group of imprisoned lycanthrope wizards seem to think they have something of a solution to increasing other worlders' potentials: a ritual using the Wolf Moon of January's full moon cycle to transform unprotected otherworlders into fellow cynanthropes or, in layman's terms, werewolves and other types of weredogs. Anyone not protected (at the party) will be affected by the curse ritual.

Cynanthropes in Avalon have the following characteristics:

Character is now able to transform into a humanoid dog or wolf form to the extent the player chooses (go ears/tail or full-furry)
Experiences enhanced strength, enhanced sense of smell, night vision, blood lust, and characteristics similar to the character's dog or wolf breed.
These effects are only applicable the day before, the day of, and the day after the full moon from sundown to sunrise on each day.
Note that new weredogs/wolves do not have control over their instincts for the first few months of transformations and will behave aggressively. If in an emotional state, they can lose control of their transformed form regardless of how long they have been cursed.
Though characters can be killed by normal means throughout the month, they can only be killed by silver bullets during the 3-day full moon cycle
Full-time side effects include cravings for meat, animal mages having mild influence over them, being able to eat food from Elphame without being bound to the land, and the occasional hair ball.
It is up to players how painful they want the transformation to be/not to be; you can play this how you want and chalk it up to ritual reaction variation.

Cynanthrope ritual curses are particularly strong and require at least two siphoners working together to break the curse, a counter-curse potion (only available through events), or a deal with a powerful being such as the fairy queen or Morganna.

If your character did not attend the party, left the fairy queen's party, or wasn't at the Red Springs (protected by the mysterious crystals that turn it red during the full moon-- conveniently for your excuse not to participate in either prompt if you want to opt out!) they will become a werewolf or weredog.

[Gokudera says it so nonchalantly. Like people get beheaded every day around him.]

He’ll probably turn them into pearls or something. Sucks, though. I gave my last pack away without thinking on it, and it’s giving me a wild headache.

[Not her problem. Nor anyone else’s. He’s just bitching because that’s what he does.]

[ At hearing that Larry has consumed someone's head, the mist user grimaces at that imagery. She's seen things herself, especially since Mukuro has a weird sense of humor too, but this is just...wow!

Though she does look a little concerned when he mentions the headache. It must be withdrawal symptoms.]

I have no idea what you must be feeling, but I hope you stick with it. Maybe drinking some water might help, or caffeine? But...what made you decide to quit?

[Is this something that Gokudera always wanted to do? Or maybe something new prompted him to make this change?]

[Gokudera would be grossed out, but it was just a bad time, overall. Watching Yamamoto kill someone wasn’t… easy. Larry was just cleaning up. So yeah, he can eat pretty much everything.]

It is what it is.

[The headache is there. That’s what he’s feeling. Gokudera shrugs at Chrome and her suggestion. It’s not a bad idea.]

Yeah… Maybe. Hm? Oh. I have elemental and light magic. I can light fuses without the need for cigarettes, and don’t need a free hand.

[But also he knows he should look out for his health more. To keep his boss from worrying about him, because the Tenth is a caring person like that.]

That's...true.

[ It's true that he could light his fuses with his magic versus his cigarettes. Chrome really didn't think much of the functionality his smoking had to do with his bombs, but now she does. It was just convenient, and probably out of habit. Maybe style had a bit to do with that choice too.

Though, there was no reason to continue on with such a bad, unhealthy habit if he didn't need to.]

So that means you still use your bombs?

[ The last time she met Gokudera, he didn't really use them since Larry was more than helpful for their needs.]

Have you been able to incorporate them with your magic? Kind of like what you did in the future?

[Style definitely plays a roll in him still using his bombs. Gokudera is flashy when he fights, but it’s not practical in a place like this, and he’s not really fighting anyone. More content minding his business since he knows he attracts so much trouble to the boss.

He’s had more than some sense knocked into him throughout the last three years or so without the rest of the family to support. With him being lesser than the other guardians, and them carrying on with ease, ignoring his existence or viewing him as an inconvenience.]

Yeah. I always have them on me.

[Which he won’t be telling just anyone, because a little well-placed elemental magic could make him explode and probably hurt more than a few people around him.]

It bombs work well enough with elemental magic. The light magic helps with creating illusions, and helping me set traps. So… it’s sort of similar? I don’t have a cannon in Avalon, and Uri can’t help me like he used to. I feel sorry for him most of all, actually…

Did you ever meet him? I can’t remember… he was that little cat. Here he’s…

[Gokudera goes from holding his hands together to indicate Uri’s size as a kitten, to holding his hand at around his knee’s height to show the difference.]

A leopard. Nothing more or less, really. Familiar company and an extra mouth to feed.

[Maybe he can save some gold by giving up smoking, and then he can spend his savings on getting better meats for the leopard living in his apartment.]

[ She nods. Envisioning how he could use his light magic and bombs to create traps. Probably the elemental magic could make some pretty unique explosions too. Chrome is kind of curious to see it in action.

She then tilts her head to the side.]

Uri? ...He's here?

[ Chrome believes she has seen Uri before but never had the chance to interact with the feline. Anytime he was out, they were dealing with the Real Funeral Wreaths and it wasn't the time to get acquainted. Though, Chrome has admired the leopard from afar.]

I'd like to see Uri, he's gotten really big.

[Talking about Uri makes Chrome think about Mukurou, perhaps she could bring the owl to Avalon someday. As Gokudera mentions, it'll be another mouth to feed, but the presence of the box animal would be comforting.]

Is Uri...well-behaved?

[She says it carefully remembering how defiant the leopard cub was.]

He is. Zu-Ah… my boyfriend and the Tenth got Uri back from the traders for me after I came back here…

[It’s a long story and he doesn’t want to kill the mood or bore her.]

I’m sure he’d like to see you as well.

[Gokudera nods.]

Yes and no. He doesn’t try to run away like I thought he might. He’s a fan of every person he sees, and ignores me most of the time when he isn’t hungry.

[ Chrome doesn't think such a story would bore her or kill the mood, but maybe Gokudera didn't want to go into detail. That's fair.

Although the purple-haired teen's eye lights up at hearing Uri would be excited to see her. She should be afraid to be around such a big cat, but she doesn't think she could ever be wary of any feline. Even Boss's Natsu is pretty cute and so like the brunette.]

Do you think so? Hmm? What type of food does Uri eat? I can pick him up a snack.

[ She then frowns when Gokudera admits that his box animal tends to ignore him unless he's feeding him. She raises her hand to pat Gokudera's shoulder sympathetically, but she hesitates. Would he mind? She debates her action in her head for a moment, before following through. There, there.]

I know Uri cares for you. He just...doesn't like to show it all the time. Cats can be pretty particular.

[He’d be more comfortable going into detail with her than most anyone else. She is family, after all.]

He eats a lot of meat. His favorite is fish, though! The fresher, the better! But if you can’t get a hold of it, that’s fine.

[Gokudera blinks at her patting his shoulder, and gives a small smile. Wow, the guts on her to touch him so readily! He approves. Chrome is not annoying, so her hesitant attempt to comfort him is appreciated.]

I got so used to him being a cute little kitten, I guess. I miss that side of him.

[Chrome makes a mental note of the food that Uri likes. It makes sense for him to like meat or fish. He's more of a wild cat than a domesticated one. She'll have to be sure to get a fish that's de-boned, she wouldn't want him to choke on the bones.

She does study Gokudera as he reacts to the pat on his shoulder. She unintentionally braces herself for...something. She doesn't expect he'll act violently towards her, but she's cautious only because of past experiences. Though it eases her to see him smile.

She nods understanding a little how Gokudera feels. It's even hard for her to imagine Uri growing bigger, she's so used to seeing him as a kitten.]

Well, no matter how big he grows, he'll always be that kitten! Though having such a big cat around must have its challenges. Does Uri claw up the furniture? And when he plays, does he make a big mess?

[ Chrome can only imagine the trouble the leopard gets up to.]

[Even as a kitten, Uri was a fan of eating entire fish. As big as him, and he was the happiest Gokudera had ever seen!]

I have a tree in my apartment that he uses his claws on. For the most part, I can’t really have a pillow. He shreds those up. For the most part, he sleeps most of the day away. Sometimes he and Larry will play, though. I worry I’m keeping him in too small of a space…

[Maybe he should talk to Lady Ochako and find out if he can be tasked with performing music for her, or… for playing music at one of the many cafes in Camelot.

He needs to move out and give more room to his leopard companion.]

[Not the pillows! Chrome frowns to herself somehow envisioning how Gokudera might come home to feathers all over the place and his pillows in shreds. Though it does sound like Gokudera will need to think about relocating soon.]

Probably. A cat like Uri will eventually need more space, but he seems to be pretty content for right now.

[ Chrome smiles to herself, thinking it's cute of Gokudera to worry about his rebellious feline.]

If I were to bring Mukurou here, I'll have to think of that too. He's too big of a bird to be in a cage.

[If his hair weren’t grey already…]

He needs so much space. I feel so bad keeping him cramped in the apartment…

[Uri needs to run around and destroy things while being a wild animal. But… the leopard isn’t actually interested in leaving him. Uri really watches over him.]

Maybe if he ever shows up, he can have animal magic and just… turn into an owl for you to look after.

[But he does not like the thought of the other illusionist showing up in Avalon. That is the wrong kind of Vongola representation this world needs.]

So if not the apartment you share with Boss, where would you go? Is there a lot of housing options in Avalon that can accommodate such a large animal?

[ Chrome's sure there is, but at the same time, is it within Gokudera's means? She can see the Storm guardian wanting to stay close to their boss.

She then blinks at that weird response. She then laughs a little.]

Not Mukuro-sama, but Mukurou the owl, our box animal. I guess I made his name very similar to his.

[Unlike Gokudera, Chrome wouldn't mind if Mukuro came to Avalon, but she doubts he'll allow himself to be taken care by her. He normally has his own agenda.]

I wish I knew. I’ve been here long enough and done more than enough quests I could try to be a lord, or a knight. However, I’d rather just follow the Tenth and whatever he’d like to do. If he became a lord, he’d have land, and that would provide for us fairly well, I think. But-!

[He puts his hands up, waves them as if trying to brush away the thought.]

I don’t want to impose my own wants on him! If he’d rather not… then I can understand and will have to keep my eyes open for a space large enough.

[He shakes his head.]

Either way! Or you could seek him out from the traders.

[ Chrome nods. She sympathizes with Gokudera about following Tsuna's lead but also not wanting to impose his own ideas on him. She knows the Tenth puts a lot on his shoulders and probably has these very ideas circling around his head as well.]

I'm sure it'll work out whatever you both decide. And you're a good friend, Storm Guy.

[She's simply just speaking out loud what she already knows is true.]

I'll probably look into it once I'm more established here. I don't really have the funds to support an owl, right now. Maybe I should look into getting a job? Do they hire people around our age?

[Gokudera wants to help take that burden from his boss’s shoulders, to be supportive and aid in carrying out whatever his will is. He nods gently in agreement, then seems a bit taken aback, blushing at the unexpected compliment.]

I-it’s only because he deserves as much! The Tenth has always been a good friend to me!

[Tsuna started it, and Gokudera will settle for anything less than returning with more friendship. He hopes that it truly grows every day and his boss will only consider him that much more worthy of his position.]

They do, but also the school pays us to attend. We’re learning our magic and making gold to survive comfortably.

[ To Chrome, Gokudera seems more than qualified to fulfill his position. Though she understands wanting to be there for someone earnestly. Tsuna was very considerate of her in the beginning, it was a kindness not many people afforded her. Not even her parents. So she's forever grateful for that. She continues to smile gently at Gokudera.]

You're right, he deserves it.

[ Her expression of fondness turns into surprise. She didn't think they would pay them to attend school, and seems like an extra incentive to take advantage of.]

The school pays us to attend? That's good. I guess they don't want us to have too much on our plates.

[Getting used to a new world, learning magic, doing quests, and even struggling to survive will be too much for most people, even the youth. So it's good that this place is willing to reward them for choosing education by providing for their needs.]

Do you work? Well, I guess you have a lot going on tending to Boss.

[Gokudera smiles and gives a sage sort of nod at her agreement. Yes, the Tenth deserves good friends, because he is a prime example of one.]

Yes! It benefits the reason we’re here, after all… to have magic to help stop the Calamity.

[Which he doesn’t know too much about, in all honesty.]

I used to have several jobs, actually. But… they were with other off-worlders who are no longer here…

[He can’t hold down a job. A reliable employee with unreliable businesses blooming in this world.]

Without a sense of direction, it’s hard to focus on a job when the Tenth could need me for something else.

[Well, that's unfortunate. From what Chrome could see, Gokudera seems pretty dutiful, so he would probably excel at any job he puts his mind to. Though, knowing that the Storm Guardian had various jobs made Chrome consider something for herself. Maybe something part-time and on the weekends?]

So, you make sure you're available just in case Boss needs you? That's good of you.

[Yet, she wonders if Gokudera wants anything outside of assisting Tsuna or even the mafia. Or maybe this is just a good anchor for the other teen to keep him steady? She keeps her thoughts to herself since she's no better, leaving her former life behind to follow the whims of a mafia criminal.]

Do you have the time to do your own thing? Pursue your interests or anything else you like?

[He nods, appreciative of her understanding. If only other people could understand that when he refers to the Tenth as ‘boss’, it’s not technical employment Tsuna is paying him for, but it is a job enough that it comes before any actual job he could hold.]

I do… but I’ve spent so much time away from him that I really would rather not! Mostly, it’s school and quests on occasion. If the Tenth needs me, I’m usually close by. Some of the classes he takes are even at different times than mine, so I’m always around.

But I think he may also be feeling a lack of direction, without Reborn-San being here.

[Gokudera feels fulfilled. He has his boss, school, a boyfriend and a girlfriend. He’s really living his best life right now. Just… a little bothered by the nicotine withdrawals, but that’s a small-time problem.]

[Chrome nods, it does seem like Gokudera is pretty balanced and he has his priorities in order. So she's not really concerned about him. Though when he mentions Tsuna not having a clear direction especially without Reborn being around, it makes sense.

Not only for Tsuna, but the arcobaleno has also been there to guide all of the guardians in one way or another. He's even helped her come to her own resolution before she came to Avalon.]

...I'm sure Boss will find his way, and in Reborn-san's stead, we can do our best to be his support. Maybe more so you than me since you've been around him longer than I.

[If Tsuna should ever call on her, she will definitely go without hesitation.]

[It’s been a good few months, and he’s feeling well balanced. Gotta keep a routine and be flexible around it~

Still, the concern.

He and the Tenth have been in this world for about a year, and not once has their boss done anything to establish the Vongola. If he doesn’t want to, that’s fine, but Gokudera is really struggling with the floundering.

Not that he can do anything. His hands are tied until the boss decides what to do and gives him orders to follow.]

Well, I guess I can help him with training more…

[To Chrome, Tsuna always seemed like an ordinary teen who got wrapped up in the mafia. Although he's the heir of Vongola, he seems like he wants to live a normal life, so establishing the Vongola in Avalon doesn't seem like their boss's priority. Though, she can also understand how that might be frustrating for Gokudera. Though the suggestion of training might be a solution.]

That could be something...maybe Boss doesn't feel like he's strong enough.

[ She can only imagine how Tsuna feels after being here for a year. Chrome has only arrived, and she feels so helpless without her mist abilities. Not that she was ever as good as Mukuro, but it's still daunting to learn new skills and still be expected to protect yourself and everyone else. It's a lot of pressure.

Usually, when the stakes are stacked against them, training seems to be the solution every time.]

And as someone who's always watching Boss, I think...you'll be the perfect person to guide him.

[Gokudera wouldn’t mind living a normal life in Avalon, but the lying is getting to him. Why keep it such a big secret if they aren’t planning on doing anything in regards to the mafia in a world like this? Training is easiest, and Avalon has the grounds for it for a reason. It’s just… living a double-life so to speak, is difficult for Gokudera. He’s the kind of person who throws himself into something with everything he has.]

You and I both know he’s more than strong enough.

[He’s not going to act like making a decision will be easy, but… he hopes for a decision.]

Yeah but… guide him where? Just… getting stronger in general? [Creating chaos the way Reborn-san used to?]
