can you tell me what ever really special about me all this time
🧙 WHO: Tsuna and you
⚔️️ WHAT: Tsuna has been updated to the end of the Future Arc, and is now dealing with the ramifications of that. By falling asleep everywhere and potentially destructive training.
đź•’ WHEN: throughout the rest of the January
🗺️ WHERE: School and training area mostly.
⚠️ WARNINGS: Spoilers for the Future Arc of KHR? Violence but mostly of the shonen manga variety, will update if necessary.
[A - Gather the Guardians; Locked to Castmates]
[He doesn't really realize it at first.
Tsuna wakes from a deep sleep, staring up at the ceiling with a look of confusion. It's not his ceiling, but he knows it somehow. He blinks, trying to recall, trying to sit up even though he's grogg, caught in that same feeling of knowing and not knowing.
And then it all hits him in a flash.
Avalon, and then as his memories are on fast-forward he remembers Merone base, Irie Shoichi, training and the Choice battle and Uni and running and fighting Byakuran and Uni sacrificing herself and Primo and Byakuran. And then they'd gone home to the past. And now, now he's back.
Tsuna shakes his head, trying to sort out the memories and lies back down. That couldn't have all been a dream. He knows it's not. His hand still bears his rings after all. The now awoken Sky Ring of the Vongola rings, and, Tsuna has to smile, Natsu's new ring as well. Though, as the memories calm down Tsuna doubts he'll be able to summon him here. Which is fine, since he'll have a griffin to contend with after all. There's still a warmth from the ring letting him know that Natsu is with him.
But the voice in his head, the one that sounds like Reborn, pipes up that he needs to gather his guardians, and so he forces himself up. He needs to check on his friends after all.]
[B - Sleep]
[And just like that, Tsuna has to re-adjust to life in Avalon.
In all things, it's not that different from adjusting to life in Namimori. His mom's not here and only a handful of his friends, but at least now he knows they are safe where they belong. But he gets up, goes to school, and carries on as best he can.
Not easily. He's no long in the future, no longer plagued with worries about Byakuran or protecting his friends and his body seems to be catching up with that. Seems to be catching up to the fact that his days are no longer filled with intense training and high-stakes battles and so most of the time, he feels exhausted.
Really, he should just take a day off and sleep but he feels like he's already done enough of that as well. So he struggles on.
And falls asleep at his desk. Against a shelf in the library. In the middle of the training area. And who knows where else, really?]
[C - Train, without my Dying Will.]
[On a day when it's not raining, Tsuna heads outside.
Avalon doesn't have the same resources as the Vongola base, and he will need space to attempt what he wants. Because he also expects that things might get destructive.
It's a weird feeling though, training this way. He doesn't have Lal Mirch or Reborn yelling in his ear or threatening him with physical violence. No Hibari to spar with. He can't enter his Hyper Dying Will mode and gain the focus he gets from that state. His pills do nothing though he may have tried one out of hope.
Instead it's just him and his magic and a new drive to make sure he has the power to protect his friends.
He looks up at the sky and ignites his hands in their bright orange flame.
i - flight
[Like a lot of things in his world, Tsuna understands them more by instinct than by any specific principle. How dying will flames provide flight is one of them. And while someone smart like Shoichi or Spanner could probably explain it, Tsuna is content with they provide propulsion and so he goes.
Here, magic seems to work a little differently.
Bursts of flame can propel him forward but he can't get that sustained levitation with just them. And certainly he lacks the agility he normally has. It's more than a little frustrating to go slamming into a tree, or the ground.
But for now he's lying on the ground, looking up at the sky and considering. He's missing something, and his hands hurt.]
ii - x-burner
[This is the big one.
Before he goes home, Tsuna at least wants an idea of how he can make his signature attack work in this world. He can't get by with wild bursts of magic anymore. And while he still has his contacts, they won't help. They aren't able to measure magic and Spanner is not here to upgrade them. So it's back to instinct.
His experiments with fire have made it known that he can't use it alone. There isn't a way to get the hard and soft flames that he needs but perhaps with combining the magic, he'll have a chance.
He has to get the balance right though, and he's back to instinct.
But he tries. In the left hand, soft flames, water and fire, contradictory but Tsuna is trying to draw on the idea that water (rain) is tranquility. In the right, fire and earth, lava almost, hard flames. And so he stands there, trying to balance, wondering if he dare to fire off a blast.]
[D - wildcard]

[Gokudera doesn’t think it looks normal, but then… most people with elemental magic aren’t trying to use fire to fly. It’s just something he always imagines his boss doing. Back when he first met him, before he fought Xanxus, he always thought he was incredible. Before the flames were so visible, even back as far as his fight with Mukuro. Gokudera has unshackling faith that his boss can become comfortable applying his magic like his dying will flames.]

This is gonna take some getting used to. Not like what Lal Mirch had me doing.
[He says as he hovers to a stop.]
no subject
[While Tsuna was busy suffering her spartan training, Gokudera was getting yelled at by his sister and beat up in a desert storm by storm-scorpions.
He never really got to see all of his boss’s training. Maybe he needs a more… firm approach?]
no subject
[That was. A lot more intense. He probably wouldn't have lasted in conditions like this. The Hyper Dying Will Mode helps a lot.]
no subject
[His familiar would have so much fun, even though it sounds dangerous as hell.]
no subject
I think I'd like to try with Larry first. Once I get some practice in, I think it'll be easier to time myself.
no subject
[Larry seems excited. The creature makes a weird wobbly metal noise and grows until it’s roughly the size of a horse, maybe a draft horse, though.]
Let’s go.
[He points a thumb over his shoulder. Larry can pick Tsuna up and toss him, catch him… basically play with the Tenth.]
no subject
He balls his hands into fists and nods.]
Yeah. Let's do it!
no subject
Tenth!
[Gokudera can’t hide the concern in his voice as he runs, hoping Tsuna will correct himself as he’s careening through the air.]
no subject
An involuntary reaction at this point. He's having to do things without the benefit of the calm the Hyper Dying Will mode brings. And fighting and everything is a lot scarier without that power. And his body needs to put that energy somewhere.
But his training kicks in and Tsuna is able to start manipulating his flames to slow himself and bring things under control. Trying to keep the oven slowly heating up. He's really hoping that Larry will catch him though, since he's not doing it as fast as he needs to.]
no subject
His stamina is garbage. Another reason to quit smoking cigarettes.]
Good job, Tenth!
[Even if he hasn’t actually started flying around yet, he gets the idea that Larry won’t set him down until Tsuna can stop being flung from one end of the grounds to the next and actually keep himself in the air through his own actions. Motivation is important.]
no subject
It takes a few times being flung before the screaming really stops and the focus kicks in and then for a brief moment, it happens. Tsuna's hands are wrapped in orange and green flames but he's keeping himself in air.
Not that he has long to celebrate before his magic runs out and he plummets again.]
no subject
The bubble is slowly deflating, so Tsuna can either use it to hop back up into the air, or he can rest for a moment until he reaches the ground.]
no subject
That wasn't so bad.
no subject
Feeling alright, boss?
no subject
Y-yeah actually. It was kinda fun once I got used to it...although I think I need a break now.
no subject
It’s bound to happen eventually.]
Really? Ah, yeah, a break is no problem!
[He doesn’t know if it looked fun.]
no subject
Then let's head back for now. I should probably rest somewhere better than the ground.
no subject
[Gokudea would be happy to walk back with him, but Larry is picking Tsuna back up by the back of his shirt and trying to carry him to save him from getting too tired. The bomber frets, and Larry just heaves Tsuna higher up. No, this is his escort!]
no subject
I'm okay, Gokudera-kun. I don't think he's going to drop me.
no subject
He better not.
wrap here?
I'll probably be okay once we get to town.
