[Open] New Year Coming in Like Kool-Aid Man
🧙 WHO: Zidane and You!
⚔️️ WHAT: New Year, New Month, New Catch-all
🕒 WHEN: Throughout January until Event
🗺️ WHERE: Atys, New Camelot, wherever Quests require!
⚠️ WARNINGS: None at the moment, will add as they come up
Lord though he may be, that didn't mean he was going to sit inside all day. And when the quests for the new month become posted, of course Zidane was going to look into a few - especially the ones that might be able to help out some folks, and 10,000 G potentially for a fish sounded good.
Even if it meant taken a cold dive to get them.
Once they arrive at their fishing spot in the gorge, Zidane sets to getting a fire going and setting down supplies. They could stay there all day.
"I have a totem back to Celliwig or Camelot if anything comes up."
Given the destruction at the end of the year previous, he's not surprised there continued to be issues like this coming up. But damn, yetis causing issues now?
"... Y'know, I get it. What're the Snow Games? Name alone sounds like it would've been awesome!"
Though, his new enthusiasm for the competition wasn't helping despite a few nods from the yetis themselves in agreement. But hey, a lack of games and the need to get them to go back somehow does give him an idea.
"Why not just have a brief one here? We can figure out some kind of prize, right?"
He looked over at his quest partner with a grin.
It's one of those temporary booths set up in New Camelot, around where the marketplace might begin becoming a little more risqué for some folks. He probably could sell out at the clubs, but he'll hit them up later - after he considers going door-to-door.
For now, the table with a sign announcing 'Charity Calendars' doesn't sound that bad, right?
[Option A: Calls You Daddy]
It's blue and orange, the glittering egg easily looking like someone painted a sunset on the shell. And upon seeing it in the morning, there are... a lot of thoughts going through Zidane's mind: plenty of shock, plenty of confusion and trying to understand how that worked, and plenty of internal yelling.
B-But they hadn't even... huh?
...
But that's how plenty might cross him later around New Camelot still handling some shopping matters, holding a sunset-shaded egg either against his chest or letting it wander around close with his tail latched to it. It was enough being Lord, but now he was Dad? Maybe make sure he's okay; something about Zidane's general appearance (maybe how he was staring pretty much straight ahead) said he might be in shock.
[Option B: Go on, Git]
If Zidane could, he'd keep their little bear for much longer. However, it's very apparent that living around people permanently wouldn't be possible. Ah, kids... they grow up so fast.
Good news: with Atys located near Elphame and its forests, releasing their cub would be no issue.
Bad news: goblins. Why was he not surprised? Oh, and they brought along a friend.
Cool, cool... he could invite a friend to come join them, too. Giving a reassuring pat to his bear clinging onto his back, he drew his daggers next. It's not like they had to bring the goblins back alive, right?
[OOC: Wanna do another prompt from the TDM or a Quest from the board that's not here? Hit me up at
demidemonLove or DM me so we can plot. He's totally here for the other tasks if interested!]

[Since this was his first encounter with the yeti in this world, they're gonna have to clue them both in on things they like to do. Still, three large and semi-organized competitions like at the festivals they've been part of might work out.]
no subject
[That actually sounds really fun? Besides, these big ol' yetis are definitely the size and build of sumo pros. Ochako would definitely bet they'd be really good at literally throwing each other around. Considering...they were throwing massive snowballs around before.]
I can even create a ring, or an elevated platform for it!! It'd be so much fun, and I bet you'd all be so, sooo good at it!! You're all so big and super duper tough, so it'd be perfect!
[Emboldened by the praise and the zealous energy radiating off Ochako herself, a few of the yeti are nodding their heads and murmuring. They have no idea what sumo is, but they definitely know how to WRASSLE. And it seems they're starting to take to the idea of at least that being included.]
no subject
[First time that Zidane's heard about it, but it's a kind of wrestling? He's going to guess since she suggested 'like sumo'. Still, it sounds good to him so he'll nod.]
Alright! Let's get a ring set up! And whoever wants to participate, let's get a bracket going...! Though, once that's done... We're missing something important while people are waiting and for later.
[Since this was a quest, of course that wouldn't be here right now. Still doesn't mean it can't be scavenged up.]
no subject
[Ochako whirls her arms and does a few swift punches that are move like open palm thrusts than actual punches but she seems excited!! Sumo is a pretty big deal back home, and though she doesn't actually watch competitions and stuff regularly, it's cool to know the history and share that tiny bit of her culture in a different world.]
Eh?? Missing? Missing what?
no subject
[Easy to say that Zidane approves of this Sumo plan. But of course, that one crucial thing that he's talking about.]
We're missing food. Luckily, we're near some good hunting and fishing spots, and we could make a competition and meal for everyone out of that. Or I can go hunting - either or, we should be good hosts.
no subject
Mm-mm. It's less martial arts and more about raw strength, balance, and strategy - like you said.
[But oh!! One of Ochako's favorite things in the world - food. She all but perks up as a few of the yeti nods their heads in approval. Seems they're getting more and more on board, and a few of them are even volunteering to help set up huts and stands, or offer to assist with hunting efforts.]
That's perfect!! I've never really hunted before, but I know how to cook! I can help make a few tasty things if I have some good ingredients and some tools!
no subject
[And really, there'd be more fun with everyone getting a chance to win than just outright victory to the strongest yetis here. Wouldn't stop everyone from being thrown out of the ring, but hey, strategy.]
[Beaming Ochako and the yetis, he nods.]
Alright! Let's make this happen people! Uraraka, if you wanna work with a group to set up the ring and stands? I'll go with another group to the forest so we can get some game and scavenge up some other things we'll need.
[Wild herbs and vegetables, firewood, those things.]
no subject
[FIST! PUMP!! It'll take a few minutes to delegate everyone into groups, but sooner or later it's all figured out, and the yetis seem to just be enjoying the hustle and bustle of putting together the event as well. Something new and different, but seemingly entertaining and a show of their strength and cunning. It's definitely not the same thing they're familiar with, but it seems something is better than nothing, after all!!
While Ochako tutors the yetis on how to make a proper sumo ring - it has to be large and wide enough to fit two yeti into without being too large so the challenge is lost, but not small enough that it'd be impossible for someone to win.
There's also a place set up to receive and cook the food set up, with a few of the yeti prepping leaves and large logs to stoke a fire later, once the food is brought it. It's starting to look like a real event!! Even some others that aren't as fit to do too much heavy lifting or work bring along instruments and start to play music for some mild entertainment, and to boost morale.]
no subject
[Now, back to hunting, the yetis already know what they're doing, and working together with them, it's much easier to track down and slay larger prey, and he's a little shocked when fishing turns into diving, and wrestling up some bigger fish that'd been dwelling down in the bed. Avoiding the cold of course; and simple enough to say they're coming back with quite a bit. And still more with the findings in the forest.]
[Back to the makeshift event grounds, Zidane's with several yetis set to skinning and butchering, setting aside pelts to treat and dry. There's two yetis getting into it on what to do with the insides for later while he moves onto skewering some smaller fish for an open fire roast, but it's worth learning what the yetis do.]
no subject
The haul they bring back is impressive to save the least!! And with all the time it took to get everything, Ochako was able to set up some good places to actually cook them up! The fish can actually be served up raw or lightly seared, too, and with some herbs, oil, and a few garnishes and sides...it's looking like a decent spread!! The young teen's not a gourmet, but her skills aren't anything to sneeze at. Simple dishes but hearty, flavorful, and tasty!! She's also a hell of a teacher, instructing others to pull their weight, get things done, and learn how to do even menial tasks in this little outdoor "kitchen" of sorts.
The skinning and butchering though, ah...ah.... Ochako actually has to stand aside for that. She feels her stomach churn and a terrible sour tang in the back of her throat. I-It's not that she hasn't seen butchered animals or anything before, but...u-usually the guts have already been removed, and they've also been bled...and cleaned. It's not exactly a pleasant thing, really. Fish, and the occasional chicken are one thing but...larger game....oof.]
Urrp...Z-Zidane-kun, can you, um...c-can you take care of things here a little bit? I-I think I...g-gotta sit down um...j-just a minute...
no subject
[Also, completely opposite of poor Ochako, Zidane's laughing at a what could be called a crude joke among yetis; one that does get the joke teller knocked lightly in the back of the head, making the butchering group laugh more. However, Zidane does hear Ochako speak and he looks over at her.]
Huh? Sure, I can do that. Everything okay?
[She's looking a bit green...]
no subject
Oh, she is definitely a little green, and nods her head but keeps a hand on her stomach and pointedly avoid looking at anything having to do with the skinning and slaughtering process. She, uh...she can't promise she won't blow if she sees anything more - the stench alone is quite vile, actually. She might have to leave this part of the event strictly to Zidane. Blood and injuries are fine, she can handle that in the field as part of her Rescue Hero training - that sort of thing is going to be seen a lot in her field - but this on a whole other level...]
M'fine! Urrp...just not...n-not used to seeing an, eh. A-An animal go from, well...animal to, uh, meat. [She makes a face.] Just a little queasy, ehehe. I'll be okay, though. And I can still cook anything that's brought out!!
no subject
Oooh... Aha! Sorry, didn't even think about that.
[Maybe he's too used to people around his age being able to do this. Like, Uraraka and her friends were capable in other areas so what was butchering and preparing a few large game animals, but he guesses not? Nodding, he glances over to the ring.]
We'll bring everything buy when it's ready. Why not show the yetis that wanna compete how to sumo works for now?
no subject
It's probably the whole, uhh...gutting thing. And skinning. That's a bit much.]
Ah, y-yeah...yeah!! That's probably a good idea. They'll need to know all the rules and stuff. [Ochako takes a deep breath and swiftly heads to do just that, calling out to any of the ones that want to participate to come on over to learn a few moves, get the rules down, and maybe even do a few practice rounds for fun!!]
no subject
Sounds good! [Looking at the yetis who'd stop to listen in, he nods.] If any of you want to learn for the competition, it's cool. I can handle this.
no subject
And so, they're all working on various things for the makeshift 'event'. It's time-consuming and hard work, but a small venue is created with enough time, and the yetis actually seem to be enjoying the little activities set out for them, too!! The practice matches go less smoothly, because they sort of just want to literally throw their weight around and get out some pent up frustration, but Ochako is a good spot and lets them have their fun before moving things back on track to show them how it's 'properly' done.
Properly being a blanket term... She's no expert on the fundamentals of sumo, but she knows enough from her schooling and culture to give a decent rundown of the basics. Eventually, she'll return to Zidane as the sun starts to hang a little lower in the sky.]
Ne, how's everything over here? I know things haven't really kicked off, but I think we did a really good job!! Ehehe, I actually wanted to thank you, too, Zidane-kun... I was ready to just start fighting, but...this is so much better.
no subject
[Heh, this was going to be great. By the time Uraraka comes back over, he's busy cleaning up his blades and some of the other tools that were used.]
Food's all ready to be cooked up! Hope we have enough for everyone. [And he has to nod in agreement.]
Hey, best on-hands set up if I do say so myself! And hey, no problem. That quest kinda did prepare us to just fight, but these guys just wanted to come play some games. Giving them what they wanted just seemed fair.
no subject
Mm!! I'll bring it over to cook up in a minute, but I just wanted to show my gratitude, and...I guess apologize. For way back. [Ochako rubs the back of her neck sheepishly, looking a bit anxious as she fidgets with her hair.] As a Hero, we're always prepared for a fight, and we expect and anticipate it almost all the time, but...I shouldn't jump right to aggression. There's always a better, easier way, and I feel like I've sort of lost touch with that by being here for so long.
[Where everything seems to just escalate, and the monsters and beasts have so many different rules and customs.]
So I just wanted to say thank you...for reminding me that...a little kindness can go a long way sometimes, too. And understanding the person you're talking to, too, ehehe.
no subject
Huh? [She's apologizing for which way back...? Uh, the manor? Or something else? Was there something else?] Hey, no hard feelings. We've got different lifestyles... and if you wanna know, I come from a place similar to this world. Creatures are a little more hospitable, but that's some of them.
[He doesn't want to call them all outright monsters because that's becoming fairly distinct here.]
No problem. I was taking a chance, but it's a good thing it worked out.
no subject
Mm, I think I'm starting to understand a little bit better. There are all kind of people, and sometimes those who we--...I think are 'good' really aren't. They do bad things, unforgivable things, and the ones who, in the past, I'd think are bad are just trying to survive. I may not like the methods, but sometimes those 'good' people don't make it easy...
[She takes a big breath, clapping her hands together and pumping a fist into the air.] Yosh! I think I matured a little bit!! Let's get to work cooking and moving forward together! Plus Ultra!!
no subject
See? You're catching on. And yeah, I probably could've done something different to help, but sometimes immediate action needs to happen. All the legal ways can take too long when people need help now.
[Also, let a 'criminal' expose a criminal? Saves some people's reputation. Standing up and stretching, he grins wide.]
Hell yeah! Let's get these Snow Games started!
wrapping here!
I...understand that. [More than he knows. The want to do something, but being halted by the law. Ochako knows that extremely well. It's what stopped her from going to save Bakugou when he was kidnapped, among a slew of other things, but that was the biggest one.] Putting it into practice is a bit more difficult for me, though. Still...I'm getting a bit better with my hangups, I think. Ehehe, it's so different in this world, how things work I mean, but I learn things all the time, so I can't complain.
[Nodding her head, she pumped her fist to the sky with one arm and hooks Zidane's arm with the other.]
Yeah!! Let's have some fun now that we've done most of the work! [And off they go to do just that!]
