A HOLIDAY PARTY

I. Arrival

There were postings around town, and fliers going out around the end of November. The holiday party starts early evening, December 1, thanks to the help of several hands. They had worked for a couple of days prior to the start to get the large ballroom decorated to everyone's liking. He had rented out a large ballroom, and started decorating the day before, adding finishing touches early on the day of. Everyone was invited - and while there's no real dress code posted, everyone is invited to dress their best for the sake of the party.

When one approaches the building, there's a clear set of rules posted outside written in neat script:

There's only a few easy rules to ensure everyone enjoys their night:

One, no fighting - if you have to - please take it outside.
Two, no weapons on the premises.
Three, all children under the age of sixteen must leave before nine in the evening.

Welcome in. Grab a mask if you want - or don't - and join the party.

II. Welcome In

When walking through the entrance, the first thing that is easy to notice is how it is decorated. It has the colors of the holidays - red, green, blue, white. It’s mostly deeper shades with pops of brighter shades of the color. On the right of the entryway there is a table with a dark blue cloth over it. On top of it is a wide array of masks - different styles, shapes, sizes. Whatever their heart may desire, you can find here. Masks are, of course, optional! But who doesn’t love a great masquerade?

Above it is a sign that says Yours to Keep - so they may keep whatever masks they pick up.

Next to it is a large book with lined paper where people can drop a short message about the winter holiday they celebrate at home - their favorite part, how they celebrate, anything they'd like to share with other people! This will be picked up at the end of the party.

Not much further ahead is a dancefloor to the left - spacious as ever. To the right is catering - set up as an elaborate display of food and tables arranged so people can sit and eat. There’s food from a variety of places, including Golden Silence. They’ll find not only savory foods, but sweet desserts. In the back corner, not far from the food is a bartender, who is happily serving free drinks for anyone of drinking age.

Past the bar is a hallway with a couple of private rooms. These rooms are quiet - with none of the noise of the party being able to reach them. They're perfect for stepping away from the party for just a few moments of peace and quiet. In this rooms, there's decks of cards and a few simple board games. Each room can hold up to four people and can be locked from the inside.

Don't worry - there's signs posted everywhere so they'll will be able to find what they're looking for.

III. With So Much To Do

A. Dance the Night Away

The music at the party is provided by a variety of individuals. Various talents have been invited through the night, even! If no one is set to perform, there's a playlist set to play. The music goes on non-stop and the styles that will be played will vary. Most of the songs will be fairly upbeat through the night. Some of them are slower paced - so pick a partner and dance.

B. Mistletoe

Throughout the venue there's going to be mistletoe set up in a few spots throughout the building. The spots they're hanging are easy to identify. Most doorways have mistletoe hanging from them. There's also a few prime spots where there's some hanging - such as the corner not far from the bar. It's a perfect place to steal a kiss.

B. Charity Raffle

Near the food, there's a sign directing people to participate and purchase tickets for the charity raffle for a few prizes for people. There's donations (or things purchased) from a few businesses around Camelot. All funds raised from the Charity will go towards helping everyone who lost things during the events with Celliwig/Lestari. There's a variety of things: brunch for two, a date package, opportunities to learn a new skill, and other experiences. Several prizes will be raffled off, and people may purchase as many tickets as they want.

IV. Late at Night

After 9 in the evening, the entire feeling of the party changes. The lights get lower and glowsticks become available just off of the dance floor where they weren't earlier in the night. The music remains upbeat, though there's no performers for this part of the evening - only a playlist cycling through a variety of songs. This is a perfect time to grab a partner for a dance, or grab a drink. There's no real end of the night in sight, people are welcome to stay as long they'd like - even into the next morning if they should want.

Just be sure they're out by lunch the next day when clean-up starts.

Some quick ooc notes:

Anyone is free to assume their character participated in helping decorate.

Anyone who is a musician may get a short time slot to perform (15-30 minutes).

Feel free to have your character win anything from the raffle if you want - I'm not particular here!

[Jyushi just feels very self-conscious most times and with Ichiro, he feels all the more self-conscious. He's handsome and nice...there's something familiar about him that Jyushi can't quite put a finger to. But it makes him feel flustered around Ichiro. He just seems so cool.

So when Ichiro means to kiss his cheek and then Jyushi moves a bit as well, ending up on his lips a little more, Jyushi's face goes red.]

Ah, that was my first kiss...[But then he realizes he said that and why did he say it?! He shouldn't have told him that because did it even count? It wasn't like Ichiro kissed him for anything other than tradition???]

Why did I say that out loud? I shouldn't have said that! I'm sorry! You don't need that kind of pressure! [This is adding more pressure, Jyushi?!]

Um, um. I like music a lot! I'm in a band!

[Jyushi feels like he's the one putting his foot in his mouth.]

[BUT. He loses steam. Ichiro presses his hand to his forehead with a curse.]

Shit. I was going for your cheek but - I should have asked first anyway. I'm sorry. [Jyushi's first kiss... terrible. Ichiro may not be as into the idea that first kisses should be ~special~ and momentous, but he knows a first kiss should at least be better than THAT.]

If it makes you feel any better, that was my first kiss too.

[Any other time then Jyushi would have jumped on the chance to ask about Ichiro's brother, playing guitar himself.

But it stands out far more that this was also Ichiro's first kiss?] But you're so cool...[Wait, he said that out loud.]

I just mean! You're really nice and um, I think you're cool so it would seem like a lot of people would want to kiss you? [That...sounds way more embarrassing. And also implying that nobody had wanted to kiss Ichiro? Why does he keep doing this? It's so easy to get flustered around Ichiro.]

Well! Um, anyway! We don't have to take it seriously? It should be special. [Wait.] Not that it wasn't special! [But then that sounds like he's taking this seriously and then putting onus on Ichiro to either turn him down or go along with this?!

He groans, ending on a whine.] I'm sorry! I don't really know what to say and I just don't want you to feel like you have to do anything!

[There really is no easy (or short) way to explain that he's been too busy taking care of his brothers and everything that happened between his time in Naughty Busters and The Dirty Dawg, or how being in the public eye as Buster Bros makes kissing anyone difficult, and the sheer fact that he hasn't really met anyone he's wanted to kiss. So he's fine just glossing over that point.

Not that Ichiro's sure why he kissed Jyushi anyway. Sure they were under mistletoe but there was no obligation to. He'd wanted to calm him down a little but that sure wasn't the way to do it.

Man, he can be a little awkward but he's not usually this bad.]

You're fine, really! It wasn't - not special? But we can call it just a kiss between friends? [Is that the right thing to say? He really doesn't know. Why does it feel like there's a silent "for now" on the end there, too?]

[Jyushi feels like there's a "for now" there but he doesn't know if he's reading into it. That's entirely possible and Jyushi still doesn't know why he is reading into this at all.

And Ichiro had said it was between friends and Jyushi really was happy to be considered that at all. The smile, warm and wide, is very sincere.]

Yes, between friends! That does sound really nice when you put it like that. So thank you. Um, for kissing me. If that makes sense.

[That's awkward he thinks and he laughs.] I'm glad it was someone as nice as you, at least. I guess that's what I mean.

[There we go. Ichiro had thought it before, that Jyushi has a really nice smile. So he's happy to see it again and all that previous tension leaves him. He smiles right back at Jyushi, gentle and oh so fond.] I get what you mean. I'm glad it was you, too.

[Then he takes a deep breath and claps his hands together.] Alright! Let's enjoy the rest of the party, shall we?

[No more awkward! Only fun!]

What were you saying about being in a band?

[Ichiro is so nice. It really just keeps impressing him how easy it is to talk to him. He doesn't make him feel nervous at all. Just very flustered.

But he's not unused to having to stomp down on any anxieties he might have so he can keep going even when he feels flustered.]

Mm! I'm in a visual kei band back in Nagoya! It's called Argo Orchestra! I'm the vocalist.

[Nagoya echoes in the back of Ichiro's mind for just a moment, but he has to remind himself that Nagoya is more than just two people. There's a one in a million chance that Jyushi and that person would meet.

Visual kei, though. That tracks: Jyushi is committed to the look. Ichiro shouldn't be surprised.] I’ve never listened to a visual kei band, but the promos always look rad as hell! I'd love to hear you sing some time. [Ichiro, Ichiro don't spook him. Be careful.] If you were cool with that.

[Nailed it.]

[Poor Ichiro and meeting that one in a million chance.

It is very easy for Jyushi to find himself flustered around Ichiro and so he's spooked. For only a second! Because it isn't like that means anything when Ichiro is just a very nice person. Who Jyushi thinks is also handsome but he's not going to focus on that for right now!] Ah, I'm glad you think so! Visual kei has so much work put into the aesthetic so any band would really appreciate that! And I'd love to! My band isn't here and it feels wrong to sing without anybody with me...but, oh. Um, do you like karaoke?

[The world is cruel.

But karaoke isn't.] For sure! ... is there visual kei music at karaoke?

[He literally only pays attention to the anime songs. This monster.]

Yes! There isn't a big selection and a lot of the time I have to branch out if I really want to sing something that's more my style but there's still some! Well. There had been some at home...

[Who knows about magical land here.]

But I can find something I'm sure!
