happy holidays { open }
I. Arrival
There were postings around town, and fliers going out around the end of November. The holiday party starts early evening, December 1, thanks to the help of several hands. They had worked for a couple of days prior to the start to get the large ballroom decorated to everyone's liking. He had rented out a large ballroom, and started decorating the day before, adding finishing touches early on the day of. Everyone was invited - and while there's no real dress code posted, everyone is invited to dress their best for the sake of the party.
When one approaches the building, there's a clear set of rules posted outside written in neat script:
There's only a few easy rules to ensure everyone enjoys their night:
One, no fighting - if you have to - please take it outside.
Two, no weapons on the premises.
Three, all children under the age of sixteen must leave before nine in the evening.
Welcome in. Grab a mask if you want - or don't - and join the party.

II. Welcome In
When walking through the entrance, the first thing that is easy to notice is how it is decorated. It has the colors of the holidays - red, green, blue, white. It’s mostly deeper shades with pops of brighter shades of the color. On the right of the entryway there is a table with a dark blue cloth over it. On top of it is a wide array of masks - different styles, shapes, sizes. Whatever their heart may desire, you can find here. Masks are, of course, optional! But who doesn’t love a great masquerade?
Above it is a sign that says Yours to Keep - so they may keep whatever masks they pick up.
Next to it is a large book with lined paper where people can drop a short message about the winter holiday they celebrate at home - their favorite part, how they celebrate, anything they'd like to share with other people! This will be picked up at the end of the party.
Not much further ahead is a dancefloor to the left - spacious as ever. To the right is catering - set up as an elaborate display of food and tables arranged so people can sit and eat. There’s food from a variety of places, including Golden Silence. They’ll find not only savory foods, but sweet desserts. In the back corner, not far from the food is a bartender, who is happily serving free drinks for anyone of drinking age.
Past the bar is a hallway with a couple of private rooms. These rooms are quiet - with none of the noise of the party being able to reach them. They're perfect for stepping away from the party for just a few moments of peace and quiet. In this rooms, there's decks of cards and a few simple board games. Each room can hold up to four people and can be locked from the inside.
Don't worry - there's signs posted everywhere so they'll will be able to find what they're looking for.

III. With So Much To Do
A. Dance the Night Away
The music at the party is provided by a variety of individuals. Various talents have been invited through the night, even! If no one is set to perform, there's a playlist set to play. The music goes on non-stop and the styles that will be played will vary. Most of the songs will be fairly upbeat through the night. Some of them are slower paced - so pick a partner and dance.
B. Mistletoe
Throughout the venue there's going to be mistletoe set up in a few spots throughout the building. The spots they're hanging are easy to identify. Most doorways have mistletoe hanging from them. There's also a few prime spots where there's some hanging - such as the corner not far from the bar. It's a perfect place to steal a kiss.
B. Charity Raffle
Near the food, there's a sign directing people to participate and purchase tickets for the charity raffle for a few prizes for people. There's donations (or things purchased) from a few businesses around Camelot. All funds raised from the Charity will go towards helping everyone who lost things during the events with Celliwig/Lestari. There's a variety of things: brunch for two, a date package, opportunities to learn a new skill, and other experiences. Several prizes will be raffled off, and people may purchase as many tickets as they want.
IV. Late at Night
After 9 in the evening, the entire feeling of the party changes. The lights get lower and glowsticks become available just off of the dance floor where they weren't earlier in the night. The music remains upbeat, though there's no performers for this part of the evening - only a playlist cycling through a variety of songs. This is a perfect time to grab a partner for a dance, or grab a drink. There's no real end of the night in sight, people are welcome to stay as long they'd like - even into the next morning if they should want.
Just be sure they're out by lunch the next day when clean-up starts.

Some quick ooc notes:
iii, but later
but by the time the lights dim and glowsticks are handed out, she's had enough alcohol to dull the irritation of being stuck in a dress all night, enough alcohol to slip off the high heels she'd suffered through, and enough alcohol to make her way from the bar to check out the rest of the party.
only to find a purple haired giraffe hovering at the edge of it all. )
Oi.v( giant man. ) Y'good?
( he hasn't, like, drank too much or something, has he? )
no subject
Ah! Kate, how lovely- [He pauses, blinks, looks her up and down, brows lifting with every moment.] That is.... certainly a dress...
How precisely are you meant to move with... all of this?? [He reaches out to fluff some of the feathered bits of fabric at her hip, amusement clear in his expression though he doesn't quite let himself laugh.]
ahhh i didn't catch that typo u-u
Magic. ( well, probably not for most people who'd opt to wear this, she supposes. but she's figured out how to make kinetic magic work to her advantage here, keeping the train from dragging along the floor or wrapping around her legs. and, just for show, she twitches her fingers, pulling the whole train up from where it had pooled behind her, controlling it like a puppet on a string and patting Lorenz's forearm with it. )
pff no worries
And carefully makes no mention of it lest he make things awkward, especially when her train moves of it's own accord and he laughs, bright and loud and absolutely delighted.]
Well! That's one way of managing it. What magics do you have to obtain such talents?
no subject
maybe she got stuck in the ways of a hurt teenager for too long.
but Lorenz does a good job ignoring it. keeping things light, and keeping Kate's mind on the present moment rather than all the ways she's deficient. )
Kinetic.
( which is easy enough to demonstrate further as she levitates both drinks out of the glasses, sending them swirling in the air and eventually returning them to the opposite glass.
enjoy the drink she had, Lorenz. )
no subject
[But he trails off as she manipulates their drinks, absolutely beaming. It's fascinating getting to see the extent of how other magics work and he has been so busy getting a feel for his own that he hasn't had much opportunity to study others. Which only makes it more exciting when he does get to see such displays.
The fact that she swaps their drinks is inconsequential, really, when there's magical theory at hand.]
Positively brilliant! And what fine control that must require, manipulating liquids without blending them or spilling anything. Magnificent. How long did it take you to master such things?
[He really should pay more attention because he gives his glass a cursory sniff but hardly hesitates before taking a drink.
And choking on his next breath.]
no subject
she is pretty damn good at kinetic magic, if she does say so herself. )
... A year, I guess. ( given that she's been here a year. given that kinetic magic has been easy to weave into her lifestyle. it comes naturally for the most part nowadays, an extension, a second skin which sits far more comfortably than the power which used to run through her body.
but any further discussion on learning her kinetic magic tricks is quickly derailed by Lorenz's sip of her drink in his glass. ...oops? )
Not into tequila?
no subject
Not to worry, Kate, he'll come back to that.]
Teky- I beg your pardon?
[His face is still all scrunched up and he looks simultaneously offended and pained. Another glance from his glass to hers and he shakes his head offering it back to her. He won't demand his drink back but he's certainly not inflicting a single drop more of that goddess forsaken concoction anywhere near his lips.]
Clearly not.
no subject
but for now, she's biting down a smirk and taking a sip of his drink before swapping it back. she's not bothered, that's quite a nice cocktail he's giving up. )
Tequila. ( which... makes her realise. ) What d'you normally drink?
( does home even have alcohol? )
no subject
[Oh, thank the Goddess he gets his drink back. He smiles, soothing his palate with a slow, lingering swallow of his wine. Even taking a moment to use the cute little pick in the glass to fish out a strawberry.]
I've certainly had mead before, and a nip of Father's brandy once, but wine primarily.
no subject
Tried cocktails?
( well, aside from the one he just took a sip of. maybe he needs something sweeter and softer than she prefers. )
no subject
Ah! Yes, I tried something called a Strawberry Dackry? I think it was?
Delightful! Frozen like that, it's ingenious... but it made my head hurt so I thought best to avoid it this time.
[No idea what a brain freeze is. Oops]
no subject
but that gives her an idea. )
C'mon.
( they are going to the bar. and yes, she has grabbed him by his sleeve just to make sure he comes with her.
once there... )
Screamin' Orgasm for 'im.
( (': )
no subject
WHAT!?
[Oh. Oh that was louder than he meant. His volume regulation isn't the best even without all the wine.]
I- Beg your pardon??
[Better. He's honestly to shocked at her brazenness to even be blushing too hard about it.
And looking even more offended when the glass set on the bar is something.... milky.]
no subject
(even the really obviously off the wall ones, like the earth being flat or the moon being made of cheese). )
That's th' name. ( a beer for her, in the meantime. and speaking of, she will be generous enough to prepare him for the reality of modern drinking; ) Lotsa cocktails named after sex shit. Sex on Th' Beach, Slippery Nipple, Cock Suckin' Cowboy...
( she pauses, because honestly, she's seen so many stupid sex named cocktails over the years that she's having trouble remembering. )
no subject
only to recoil in horror and hold it out as though it's something venomous that might bite him.]
Is that.... Coffee?!
[How dare you betray his trust like this, Kate! What madness is this? You want him to drink coffee AND have it named after sex terms?!?
ARE YOU MAD?!]
no subject
friendshipacquaintanceship is gonna run into some problems if you can't appreciate the beauty of coffee. )And? ( that's the best part. ) Don't be soft.
no subject
He wrinkles his nose, looking thoroughly disgusted but, in his defense.... he does at least try it. And there's even a moment of surprised confusion when it's not as bad as he thought....
That doesn't mean it's good though.]
Are you certain none of those supremely inappropriate drinks do not have... fruit in them?
no subject
her brows knit into a frown at that question. admittedly, the finer points of cocktail ingredients are lost on her, especially when she doesn't usually order these ones. )
Think... Sex on t' Beach is fruity.
( she definitely remembers trying it and finding it sickeningly sweet for her tastebuds. )
