A. Don't Treep, Man

[After the undead incident last month, Robyn resolves to help out with repairing the damage caused in the farmland. As such, she's been tasked with rounding up stray sheep and herding them back to their owner's farm. Robyn's never done shepherding before, but she's watched shepherds at work plenty of times and she has her animal magic to help. If you're in the farmland at all, you may see her at the back of a flock of sheep with a look of concentration on her face; she's using her magic to make sure the sheep go where they're supposed to without any of them breaking away from the group. When one of them starts to stray, she uses the shepherd's crook she borrowed to gently nudge it back into place.]

Stay with your friends, alright? We don't want you or anyone else gettin' lost again.

B. Invasive Species

[Robyn already spends a lot of time in the forest of Broceliande, and she was taught how to be a hunter, so this quest should be fitting for her. However, she's trying to focus more on getting the woodland creatures away from the lake and back into the woods, not wanting to disrupt the Carcinuses too much.

Unfortunately, she inevitably finds herself face to face with one, its scorpion tail pointed at her and snapping its claws menacingly. Robyn is firmly standing her ground, with her wolf familiar Rowena at the ready to defend her if need be, but her voice is still clearly nervous.]

Please...go back to the lake. I don't want to hurt you, but you should go home. You can't keep attackin' the animals.

[The Carcinus snaps its claws again, and all Robyn can hear with her animal magic is its overwhelming want for food, with no other logic behind it.]

Please, just go back...! [Robyn points her crossbow at the Carcinus. She's reluctant to kill an animal without the purpose of eating it, but if she has no choice...]

C. I'm Running with the Wolves Tonight

[Despite having to deal with problems on Broceliande, that doesn't stop Robyn from going there most days or nights in her wolf form, simply to enjoy herself. She'll never get over having her sense heightened and being able to run and jump much faster and higher than she could as a human.

On the off chance that you're in Broceliande at night, you may hear the sound of howling. Following the sound will lead you to two wolves calling out to any other wolves that might be in the area; one is golden and covered with markings, likely someone's familiar, while the other one is small and slender.]

[It's certainly hard not to notice that scythe, especially when it's flattening the Carcinus to the ground like that. It's probably a good thing Thanatos isn't wearing his usual clothes, since where she's from, there's one thing scythes tend to be associated with other than farming.]

Y-yes, I'm fine. Thank you. [At this point, Robyn is clearly trying not to look at the Carcinus and how much it's squirming.]

[He's... really being as gentle as he can be, while making sure the creature can't get any closer to the girl. Though he's taking care not to kill it, the fact that it's struggling under the scythe doesn't seem to bother him.]

I have no desire to kill it unnecessarily. [Thanatos slants a glance down at the squirming Carcinus.]

But I can remove it, if you can't persuade it to leave.

I thought I could convince them to go back the lake...but all they're thinkin' about right now is food.

[She's been able to get through to animals before, but these creatures are so focused on one thing that they aren't willing to back off.]

[Without animal magic he can't know exactly what these things are after, but it isn't exactly difficult to figure out. Animals are simple things, for the most part, and have relatively simple needs.

He lifts his scythe from the creature, but keeps it held in place with a small exertion of kinetic magic.]

Perhaps it would reconsider its position if it understood that the alternative to leaving was a sudden appreciation of its mortality.

Oh...

[Robyn takes a step back, since she's still nervous about the creature's stinger even if Thanatos is holding it in place.]

Then...are you going to kill it? [She has mixed feelings about that. On one hand, she'd really rather not have to see these things again after this quest. On the other, she's not sure she wants to see what happens when you kill one.]

[He could kill it. It's only an animal, and he doesn't have the same moral feelings about killing animals. Still, he'd prefer not to, and the way she asks that question makes him think that she would also prefer he did not.]

... No.

[Thanatos sighs and lifts the thing into the air, keeping all its legs, pincers, and its stinger tucked in against its body.] Where does it need to be taken?

[Killing animals for food doesn't bother Robyn too much, since she grew up as a hunter's daughter and that was how they had to feed themselves back home. Killing to cull a species isn't something she's so keen on anymore, though...especially since she now knows what it's like to be hunted down for the sake of expanding farmland.]

They need to go back to the lake. But all the other animals around here need to go back to the woods, too...that's why those things keep comin' here to find food.

I can take this one back to the lake, but it won't solve the problem.

[He sighs. Troublesome. The creature appears to have given in to its fate and has stopped struggling against his kinetic hold, just floating beside him. He can't tell if it's annoyed or just resigned.]

Do you have any ideas?

Well...

[Robyn looks around for a moment as she tries to think of an idea.]

Maybe we should get any animals here to go back to the forest first. If there's no food left here, those things might not want to keep comin' here anymore.

Mm. That's a sound plan.

[One he can probably assist with in some way even without the use of animal magic. If she agrees, they might be able to make some headway.

He tilts his attention towards the creature he captured, which is now hanging immobile in the air, slowly spinning anti-clockwise.]

And this one?

Oh, that one...

[Using her animal magic, she can tell that the Carcinus is still thinking about food, but that desire is being overwhelmed by how it's also getting tired of being suspended in mid-air.]

I think that one just wants to be put down now.

... Hm.

[Carefully, he lowers the creature to the ground and relinquishes his telekinetic grip on it. He's more than ready to pick it up again should it start trying to create trouble.]

Very well. I trust it's going to go where it's supposed to.

[The Carcinus wobbles a bit as it tries to figure out which direction to go in, but when it moves towards Robyn, she's quick to take out her crossbow again and shoot a warning arrow. This time it takes the hint, startling it into scuttling towards the lake.]

Now, what to do with the animals...

[She looks to her wolf familiar as though she'll suggest anything. Rowena, of course, says nothing, but she does lean her head back and howl, which causes some squirrels to dart out of a nearby bush towards the forest. That could be a start.]
