( yeah, that's about all the details you're getting. so why not grab a friend, a significant other, or your worst enemy, and find out what's going on?

the Phoenix Roost is as it ever is, except for the fact that the only people there have heard about this party in one way or another. there's nothing to suggest that this party is for reasons other than Kate simply wanting to host one, but if you're here, you might know her well enough to guess that to be untrue.

but, hey, does that matter? there's alcohol flowing freely and music playing, so grab a drink, talk to a stranger, make bad choices! just try to avoid murder for a night, thank you. )

( well, it was a pain finding an outfit that worked with the sleek, grey cat tail (and the ears. and the sharp nails. and the eyes. this ritual is a pain in her ass) that's been plaguing her since the beginning of the month, but Kate eventually settles on a simple and sleek black satin jumpsuit and takes the time to straighten her hair, pinning half of it back so it doesn't constantly get in her face. with the addition of a few touches of makeup, it's something of a different look for her, and another solid hint that this is probably a bit more than a simple party for the sake of having a party. (though ask her that at your own risk.)

at the beginning of the night, it's easy enough to find her perched on a barstool, nursing a beer and gesturing for people to just settle in and enjoy themselves. but as the night progresses, she can be found engaging in her favourite party activity: multiple tequila shots. )

( for those who want a less alcohol-fuelled interaction, there are moments where she puts the booze down in favour of a good song. it takes a few drinks before the foot tapping and finger drumming escalates to full on dancing, but it does.

[When Kitten gets the invite to a party from Mr. Manslayer, they're a bit... Confused? Like, of all people, why invite them. It's not like he feels guilty over stabbing them.

But they're not about to look a gift horse in the mouth.

So they arrive shockingly on-time, dressed to impress, complete with fluffy white wings. They're glad it's the summer, because if it was cold right now? No thanks.

Their first stop is the bar, where they're quick to order. They look around, before humming.]

It's all covered, right?

[So one of the things about being only partially human, is that sometimes your body does not process things the same way a human does. Liquor didn't have much effect on Kitten before - any sort of poison or illicit substance never really did much of anything - but now they're, well. Painfully mortal. Painfully human.

So they're more than a little bit drunk, and this is the first time it's ever happened to them.

Unfortunately for everyone, turns out Kitten is a bit of a touchy, friendly drunk. They drape themself over anyone who's decided to take a seat and relax - or plasters themself to the side of anyone that's too tall to drape on - and gives them their most winning smile.]

Are you having a good time? It's a good party, yeah? 'S one of the best I've ever been to, even if nobody's died yet!

[As Phoenix Roost's proprietor, it's no surprise to see Rei around the place. He's technically here as a guest, but he may as well be the host; he looks right at home. He didn't get hit with the animal mage magic like so many of the other attendees, but dressed in one of his trademark obnoxious as fuck outfits he looks no less flashy.

The Roost has hosted parties before, but this one is distinctly more adult than the last one (a teen's birthday party): namely, the bar is fully open. The music is also open for requests, if whatever dance number playing doesn't suit your fancy.]

[The great thing about owning the establishment being used is that everything is to your taste. Rei is sat at the edge of the bar, set up with a drink and watching the party. It feels the tiniest bit lonely-- the two people he usually drinks with are out of the picture-- but Rei is used to giving things up.

And maybe you, whoever you are nearest by, will make for a good conversation in the meantime!]

You know, I saw the funniest curse happen to a guy in a bar recently.

[ Rei's familiar and the Roost's eponymous Phoenix-- technically a hou-ou-- is in attendance. Unlike the cafe floor there aren't usually any bird perches in the basement, but Princess is anxious to keep a close eye on the partygoers and wouldn't stop fussing so Rei is setting one up for her near the stage supports. She's sitting on his shoulder and supervising the process.]
