open-ish / it's never too late to get down and party
🧙 WHO: Kate & her adult CR (and anyone they might want to invite!) / people who work at the Roost?
⚔️️ WHAT: It's Kate's birthday and she wants to make the most of it, so the obvious solution is to rent out the Phoenix Roost for a night of getting drunk.
🕒 WHEN: 15th August
🗺️ WHERE: Phoenix Roost
⚠️ WARNINGS: Probably excessive alcohol consumption, hopefully some sinning.
( have you met Kate? are you over the age of eighteen? then, at the beginning of the month, you'll receive the following text; )
Party. 15th. 9pm. Phoenix Roost. Wear what you want. Bring who you want.
( yeah, that's about all the details you're getting. so why not grab a friend, a significant other, or your worst enemy, and find out what's going on?
the Phoenix Roost is as it ever is, except for the fact that the only people there have heard about this party in one way or another. there's nothing to suggest that this party is for reasons other than Kate simply wanting to host one, but if you're here, you might know her well enough to guess that to be untrue.
but, hey, does that matter? there's alcohol flowing freely and music playing, so grab a drink, talk to a stranger, make bad choices! just try to avoid murder for a night, thank you. )
( ooc; I might be busy on the 15th, so I've thrown this up now! It's a mingle log, you know how this works. Post your own top levels, warn for anything that needs warning, be good to each other. If you're not sure whether your character would be invited, just poke me at
exits / exits#8071 and we can chat! )

There is.
[Because of course there is!]
I don't know him personally. We haven't met. [But he knows of him, if only through his association with the Holy See, who Red Wine can never quite stop orbiting even if it's from a distance.] He's a member of a group I've had occasional association with.

better to just think of them as people with weird names, really. )
Huh.
( fuck it, more shots please. she's just trying to imagine what someone sent to represent tequila would look like, and obviously the answer to that is... more tequila.
that said, Red Wine does fit the drink, eerily well. )
Your world is weird.
( no offence. )
no subject
[No offence taken.]
I suppose you live on a spherical world orbiting a single star. [He rests his elbow on the table, then one side of his jaw against the heel of his hand. With his free hand, he lines up another shot in front of himself.]
I would find that to be incredibly strange.
no subject
Why? What d'you live on?
( she's going to regret that question, but she's got alcohol so it'll be fine.
... probably. )

Red Wine looks around the table for a moment, then grabs two empty shot glasses.]
The planet I come from... is a world orbiting a binary star system. Like so. [The shot glasses are obviously the stars, and he traces his finger around them in an orbital pattern.]
One star rises in the east and sets in the west, while the other star rises in the west but sets in the east. There's an axis change once a year, so we have seasons. [He glances up at her, purely to gauge her reaction as he speaks again.]
And Tierra - the planet - is alive.
no subject
... Alive meaning?
( you could, probably, by some measure, say that all planets were alive. if they were host to shit, able to host and create life, isn't that a kind of being alive? )
no subject
[Has Kate had enough to drink to take that in? Possibly not. He pours them both out another shot and slides one towards her.]
Swimming through space.

frysquint.
yeah let her have that shot first. )
... I got nothing.
( like. another shape of rock was what she was expecting. not a space whale. )
no subject
If I had some paper, I could draw a picture. But that might just make it worse.
[Then he joins her in another shot, because why not.]
no subject
( to drinking until giant whales swimming around stars makes sense! or at least stops being weird. )
Think... ( oof, air bubble in her throat. gross. ) you win for oddest world I've heard about.
( like, from her point of view. that's just messed up, Red Wine. )
no subject
It breaks more than one expectation, I think, in terms of other worlds I've heard about.
[Imagine your world being round.]
But it's where I come from. I don't know anything else as 'normal'.

Tierras.
but again. bad road to go down. only headaches lie that way and the only headache she wants right now is the one she'll have in the morning for getting too plastered. )
... We have monsters made from chemical waste.
( it's a strange thing to volunteer, but none of that shit is her fault. and it's one thing that, she's assuming anyway, Red Wine's world doesn't have that sounds weird as shit. )
no subject
I'm going to need another drink if this is what we're discussing.
[More shots? He's admittedly finally starting to feel faintly fuzzy around the edges.]
We have monsters too, but you might find their origins as strange as you find mine.
