a. Helping the baby mossatees

( When she had heard that there were animals that needed help, Tohru hadn't hesitated to try to step in to lend a hand. Especially when it was something that she could do. While it's true that helping them was something that could supposedly help her, that... wasn't exactly the reason she was doing this.

She gently guides them forward, giving them a little push to help roll them forward towards the water. Her smile is bright, hopeful as she speaks to them in encouragement. )

There you go! Please, take care. Your parents are waiting for you.

( They can't really understand her. She knows that. But... she's cheering them on, anyways. She can't help but hope that they understand her feelings regardless. )

b. summer fever!

( As someone with healing magic, Tohru steps in to try to help those in need. She's moving to and from room, trying her best to provide whatever comfort she can to those who aren't feeling well. But, that isn't all she's doing.

She got a handful of teddy bears that she's brought in for the patients she does see. Each one is unique – designed differently with another color. Unfortunately, she runs out faster than she'd like, and she can't help but feel a little guilty when she does. )

… I'm so sorry. ( She offers quietly to the next patient. ) I ran out of gifts today. But, I promise that I'll bring something really special for you tomorrow.

c. training

( With how much she's been using her magic lately, she wants to try to get stronger. After all, her magic is still fairly weak. She wants to be prepared, just in case more people aren't feeling well, or... if there ends up being more fighting.

So, she's crouched down next to a nearby flower, a small ragdoll sitting on her shoulder in silence. It seems to be gently encouraging her – even if it's doing so without words.

The flower is slightly wilted – but, it isn't close to death, either.

She places her hands over the flower, brows furrowed as she focuses her magic on it. A warm light surrounds it, and slowly, but surely – the plant seems to become healthy again.

Her face lights up then, clasping her hands together. )

There! You seem to be alright now! I'm so glad...

Most of the time if I'm sick, I sleep.

[But she's probably aware on that much after living together for as long as they had back home by now. Still. It was nice, to know someone else was there. That he was able to look after her and help her get better that time he made her a meal even if he himself wouldn't have touched it.]

But this is. Well, someone has to try help out. Especially with the kids.

That's definitely important, too.

( She knows that there are often times when Kyo doesn't feel well... Whether it be the rain, or something else entirely. If that times comes her, she hopes he'll let her watch over him like this. )

I was going to go buy materials to make more bears for the other children after we left.

( It's an open invitation. She won't push for him to come, but his company was always welcome. )

So, shopping then. I guess we can grab something for dinner while we're out too on the way home.

[Kyo isn't about to stop her. Tohru is aware on her finances here probably more than he is. To know if she can really afford this for the kids. And it did seem to be cheering them up to see her and get the teddy bears. So he's resigned to this but it isn't so bad. To help her out at least in carrying the stuff back home. That much he could do.

He's well aware she would be doing the same if it were him. That she'd keep an eye on him and all if he weren't feeling well either. Even without being aware yet on what happened with Katsuya.]

Oh -- did you want to come with me?

( Tohru is more than happy to have Kyo with her! She's just a little surprised is all... But, she can't help but be happiest doing simple things like that with him. )

Sure I can join you. If you want.

[There's no reason not to? At the least, he can help her carry it back home. Kyo can at least do that much. Try to be helpful even if he's still newer and figuring all this out. He doesn't mind helping her out with shopping either, since he would be eating whatever they get for dinner as well.]

Of course. I'd be honored if you could join me.

( She's always happy to have Kyo with her. )

And, if you'd like - I can make something extra special for dinner for you.

I don't know about it being that big a deal that you're honored. But what were you thinking for dinner?

[It's Kyo. He probably hopes it's fish. So he won't be surprised if that's something she ends up going for. Not that he is sure what he's done in supposedly deserving something extra special for dinner, but he isn't about to complain. Just so long as she doesn't try do too much. But that's why he's trying to help out and keep an eye on her so that doesn't happen.]

Would you like to pick? I'd be happy to make something you'd like.

( Tohru often picks things out -- if only to choose something different to keep dinner exciting. Why not let Kyo pick? )

Hm. Salmon? Or butterfish, maybe?

[Look he likes fish. Of course he does, as one of the aspects of being the Cat. Even here, without the curse necessarily being active, he still has some habits. Things that were just now part of who he was. Habits and tastes born from years of experience and preference. He's not picky, besides not liking leeks, really.]

( She can't help but giggle quietly at that. )

I had a feeling it'd be fish.

Salmon it is. I have an idea that might be perfect.

Yeah? You gonna tell me or is this going to be a surprise then?

[Kyo doesn't really mind. The important thing was that she was happy. That she was safe. Or as safe as one could be all things considered with this situation in general, anyway. Kyo's grateful for that much, even as his expression softens slightly at her enthusiasm and giggling.]

( Hmm... she's not so sure about a surprise. She wants to make sure that he likes it. )

How does salmon with veggie rice sound?

Sounds good to me!

[Then again. Kyo isn't all that picky unless it's leeks. So that isn't really a surprise that he's fine with that idea given it involves salmon. He at least doesn't need to worry about also accommodating Shigure and Yuki's preferences as well for now while they were here. It's just the two of them at the moment and all. So he may as well try make the most of it.]

It's decided, then! Shall we go?

( It'll be a bit hard to say good bye... She'd like to stay and make sure that the children are okay. But, they need more supplies. And, Kyo seems to want the dinner she offered - so, she'll return early tomorrow. )

Yeah. We'll be back.

[He tells the kids. Tomorrow. When Tohru was ready. He figures whenever she was ready to go. Being mindful of the shopping on the way home and all, it might take them a little longer getting back home than it did in getting here earlier. He reassures them they'd he back tomorrow, before reaching for Tohru's hand to lead her back outside to do the shopping.]
