New Year, New Starts --

[ It was a new year. A fresh start. Naoto liked being given a fresh start. There wasn’t much he could do at the moment, given he was just trying his best to navigate the city, but an upcoming firework display at the castle made him excited. Naoto always loved fireworks, so this was a great way to start the year.
So there he was, bundled up in a winter jacket and scarf and just enjoying the show-- that is, until someone bumped into him. ]

Ah! Sorry there. Didn’t mean to get in your way.

[ Quest ] After the Storm

[ Naoto was always the one to find a way to help as much as possible. Even if it took all day, the teenager was determined to help each and every shopkeeper who asked him to help. It was the least he could do—even if his strength was cut in half, that didn’t mean he couldn’t do his own share of lifting debris.
He was just finishing up putting rubble in a designated pile as he took a large sigh of relief. ]

Ah.. That should be the last of it. Thank goodness too.

[ Quest ] Shadlin Showdown

[ Naoto had every reason to believe the pleas of the Avalonians. It sounded like very basic ghosts, but there could be more to it, especially as it was the winter months. In his experience, there was nothing worse than a vengeful spirit in the middle of February.
So there he was, a small fire in hand for warmth, walking along with his travel partner, looking around with almost pinpoint precision. ]

We’re looking for a pair of eyes right…? What do you think these things are, really?

[ Quest ] Internet Trolls (Closed to Ken)

[ Naoto isn’t used to hacking all that much, but he knows enough to get by. But he’s hoping that with Ken on his side he might have a bit of help. Who knows. He’s not keeping his hopes up. ~~DMs ahoy--~~ ]

alright this bastard’s gone on for a while and i don’t know what to make of it.
but I do know that we gotta find them before they flood the entire network… so. aside from trying to talk to him, any ideas?

alright fine. im gonna prove cats are better than dogs

but i will admit dogs do have their merits. they can be cute.

but i'll get back to you on finding a cat here. i don't exactly know where yet. camelot's huge by city standards.

[ Dont worry Ken, Naoto's got ya covered in terms of surveillance. ]

I’m sure there has to be one somewhere. If there are actual dust bunnies, I think a cat wouldn’t be too difficult to find.

Just know that cat has a lot of expectations to fulfill.

[No, not really. Ken will love it just the same but it just wasn’t the same as owning a dog! Regardless, he’s keeping an eye on the forums as he looked around to see if the troll was there.]

[ Then came the one they were both looking for-- or were they? (With a username such as pizzamonger1223, he couldn't be too sure.) ]

wait is that them? it doesnt look like a legit username....

I've seen them in person and they're pretty cute! Just wish they would stop stealing things so Nero wouldn't have to vaccum them!

[Again, it makes sense in context! As he continued to look for the troll, he gave a small pout at the screen.]

No, I don't think so? If it's an internet troll, it has to be something that's really strange or weird! So far, all of them look real!

[This was going to take forever, wasn't it?]

[ He knows that if someone says it's real it's usually true. ]

I guess so.... time to keep on the look out then...

[ Yes, yes it was. ]

[After a couple of minutes have passed, Ken was just about ready to give up on this quest! How could they find this troll?!

But just as he was about to, he raised an eyebrow at one username.]

How about that one? The one with all your bases? That one is obviously a troll! How can you take that username seriously?

[Because really? Really?]

okay yknow what that one sounds troll like. how old is that joke anyways???

[ In the far future of 2100, that meme was almost nonexistent! It's also how you know Naoto spends too much time on the internet. ]

alright i got the program running. give me about a minute or two-- as soon as I got the address we're crashing in

I think 2006? It’s been a while so I don’t know? It’s so old, you can’t take it seriously!

[Meanwhile, here Ken was with his ‘old’ memes.]

[And yes, he’s still saying that dogs are better. Deal with it!]

[ And he sends the address without waiting for a response. ]

i dont trust him to stay still so i'll meet you there!!

Got it! Let’s go and stop him already!

[And off Ken went to the address! Hopefully the troll didn’t notice how they stopped commenting because he was going to try to put a stop to him!]

[ Naoto got to the address in record time, not willing to take a chance on making sure Ken would be there to keep him distracted. When Ken arrives, Naoto is trying his best to keep him detained. ]

Stay still, you bastard!

[ He wasn't having the easiest of times. ]

[At the same time, Ken was looking around for the troll inside his home. So far, he doesn’t seem to find anything but that didn’t lower his guard.]

I don’t see him anywhere. Any ideas on where he could be?

[He said to the older teen before he heard some sounds coming from another room.]

None at all. Slippery bastard.

[ Naoto was used to the cat and mouse, given his master’s tendency to do so, but this chase was starting to get on his nerves.

He doesn’t reply at first, due to turning his head towards the sound. ]

He could be there. We have to try a sneak attack.

Then how about one of us goes outside and while the other goes in the room to lure him out?

[Although, Ken wasn’t too sure how that would work out. This is a mission, it wasn’t as simple as it seemed.]

It seems like the easiest option to get him out.

[ As much as he wants to charge in and just take the guy down, he knew that that would blow the whole operation up, so instead he hums an approval. ]

Maybe setting up some traps with magic might help... but I'll save that for another day. I'll head outside then.

[ And he heads out without waiting for an answer. ]

[Once Naoto did so, Ken wasted no time in trying to find the person. Luckily, he didn't have to wait for long as the troll wasted no time in making his way out the door as soon as Ken entered the room.]

Look out!

[He shouted hoping Naoto would suddenly catch the person right behind him!]

[ Naoto does, throwing himself wholly towards the person. A full blown tackle was bound to stop anyone, after all. After making sure he was fully pinned thanks to prior training, he sighs. Finally, it was over... or so he hoped. ]

Got them handled! [ He shouted back into the room. ] Now what else is there to do...?

[As soon as Naoto managed to get the troll down, Ken gave a sigh of relief. As soon as he walked right outside, he immediately gave him a thumbs up.]

Hey, good job for taking him down! [He said back to him. Although, now came another problem. What do they do now? As he looked back at Naoto and then at the troll, he gave a mumble or two.] But um...I guess we'll just turn him and let the people who made the quest know?

[Because otherwise, what were they going to do??]

Thank you! [ He returns the thumbs up. ] But thank you for helping me track him down in the first place.

[ And then it hit him. He had failed to think about the reward collection.

He wondered how to do so, especially now that he's got the guy underneath him. Ken has a point, he realizes, so he decides to knock him out with a hit to the neck before attempting to get up. ]

Makes sense... I'll go tie him up with rope just in case before contacting any authorities, though.

[And just like that, as soon as Ken looked at Naoto, he decided to send a quick text message to the authorities. Hopefully this was the right number as he had no idea what else to do.]

And there, I think I got it? I suppose now we'll just have to wait for them to show up.

[Although, it was going to be awkward just the two (three?) of them sitting around and waiting.]

[ He finally managed to secure the troll, happy to finally get that squared away. He gets back onto his feet as Ken confirms the arrival of authorities. ]

Yeah. Shouldn't take too long though. Thanks for the help-- we got it done with minimal collateral damage!

[ He takes that as a win. ]
