[open] january catch-all
Who: Naoto and You!
What: Quests and New Year's fireworks!
When: all throughout January
Where: City of Camelot, Edge of Dusklight Woods
Warnings: None!
New Year, New Starts --
[ It was a new year. A fresh start. Naoto liked being given a fresh start. There wasn’t much he could do at the moment, given he was just trying his best to navigate the city, but an upcoming firework display at the castle made him excited. Naoto always loved fireworks, so this was a great way to start the year.
So there he was, bundled up in a winter jacket and scarf and just enjoying the show-- that is, until someone bumped into him. ]
Ah! Sorry there. Didn’t mean to get in your way.
[ Quest ] After the Storm
[ Naoto was always the one to find a way to help as much as possible. Even if it took all day, the teenager was determined to help each and every shopkeeper who asked him to help. It was the least he could do—even if his strength was cut in half, that didn’t mean he couldn’t do his own share of lifting debris.
He was just finishing up putting rubble in a designated pile as he took a large sigh of relief. ]
Ah.. That should be the last of it. Thank goodness too.
[ Quest ] Shadlin Showdown
[ Naoto had every reason to believe the pleas of the Avalonians. It sounded like very basic ghosts, but there could be more to it, especially as it was the winter months. In his experience, there was nothing worse than a vengeful spirit in the middle of February.
So there he was, a small fire in hand for warmth, walking along with his travel partner, looking around with almost pinpoint precision. ]
We’re looking for a pair of eyes right…? What do you think these things are, really?
[ Quest ] Internet Trolls (Closed to Ken)
un; bloodedge
[ Naoto isn’t used to hacking all that much, but he knows enough to get by. But he’s hoping that with Ken on his side he might have a bit of help. Who knows. He’s not keeping his hopes up.DMs ahoy-- ]
alright this bastard’s gone on for a while and i don’t know what to make of it.
but I do know that we gotta find them before they flood the entire network… so. aside from trying to talk to him, any ideas?
Wildcard!
[ Any other idea? DM me either here or on plurk!

new year
Here we meet again. [ At least he's not flying this time around. ] Sorry about that.
[ Akira looks up at the night sky, his gaze shifting from one side to the other, just like he wanted to see as much as possible at once. ]
These are really great. I wonder if someone here is doing new year fortunes.
no subject
[ He blinks once he links the voice to the face. ]
Oh, it's you... don't think I caught your name last time.
[ Naoto tilted his head at Akira's near excitement at the fireworks. There was something almost... innocent about it. ]
I would hope so. I'd rather not start the new year without knowing that, at least. Maybe I should go look for one.
no subject
[ Someone got too excited about the flying boon from the bonbons and forgot to introduce himself; that's all on him. ]
Why don't we look together after the fireworks show? Maybe we're lucky enough to find someone telling fortunes.
no subject
[ No matter what, his upbringing came through. Polite as polite can be. ]
Yeah, sounds like a plan. Hopefully there should be a temple if we're lucky.
no subject
[ Akira notices that the people aren't shooting as many fireworks as a few minutes ago, so probably the show won't last too much longer. ]
Do you remember the one you got last year?
no subject
Ahhh, I think I got decent fortune? I don't exactly remember, but here's to hoping I get better luck!
[ He grins before continuing. ] And you? What did you get?
no subject
[ Small luck has been good enough so far, though. ]
It's fun, but I wouldn't leave everything up to luck.
[ Especially in their current situation. ]
no subject
[ Small luck needs to at least be decent luck, in Naoto’s opinion. Should be changing here, given it was a new place and all. ]
I hear you… It’s never a good idea to do that, at all.
[ Boy, does he have experience in that. ]
no subject
[ The fireworks show has ended and most people are heading back. ]
Okay, let's see if we can find someone who can tell us our fortune. And maybe someone who will sell us some food. I wonder what kind of New Year's snacks they have here.
no subject
[ The show had actually been a lot longer, but Naoto's warped perception of time is showing here. ]
Oh, yeah! I saw some food stalls on the way here-- some looked like they were offering some kinda kebabs, but I didn't get a good look. But damn, did they look tasty.
no subject
[ Akira no, not the bad jokes. ]
no subject
[ Naoto soon realized what Akira said, and just stares at him incredulously for that bad joke. ]
... Dude, really?
no subject
Shortly, Akira spots a few stands with some snacks he hasn't had before; rice pudding is one of these. ]
I had no idea you can make pudding out of rice...
[ The more you know. The person in charge of the booth explains that if there's an almond inside, it means good luck for the next upcoming months. ]
I guess that's killing two birds with one stone, food and fortune draw.
no subject
I'll take two please!
[ Once he has the two in hand, he thrusts one into Akira's hands, humming away as he opens his. Hey, it doesn't hurt to be nice. ]
no subject
[ He was pretty sure that Naoto is just hungry—once rice pudding might not be filling enough, but two is another story. ]
Hey, thanks. Hope you find the almond. I wonder if we can buy more until one of us finds it.
[ Cheating the wheel of fate... ]
no subject
[ And he starts digging into the rice pudding. As he's eating, he thinks about Akira's statement about buying more. ]
Maybe we can buy more. I want good luck here, at least.
no subject
[ If another one isn't needed, Akira will just treat him to something else, so it's a win-win either way. It takes a while to get to the bottom of the pudding only to find out that he's definitely going to need another try. ]
So...how that went for you?
no subject
[ He didn’t want to spend a copious amount of time hoping for an almond, after all. Luck was a cruel mistress and Naoto knew it well.
Because now he’s glaring at his now empty pudding cup, knowing that Lady Luck had burned him again. ]
…. I’m gonna need another one.
