🧙 WHO: Venti & YOU!
⚔️ WHAT: Open log! Quests, open prompts and planned closed threads inside.
🕒 WHEN: Throughout the month of July!
🗺️ WHERE: Camelot and area & Celliwig
⚠️ WARNINGS: Mentions and use of alcohol
[A: quest: summer fever!]
[With some of the medical centers around Camelot being overwhelmed with summer fever they are in need of some more hands to help them attend to all the residents and patients in the wards.
While Venti isn’t the hardest worker there is he does have a soft spot for helping others. Even if his sense of helping others means that he’s using his musical talent to sing to the various patients, sick and injured in order to lift their spirits and spread some cheer. Maybe he could be coaxed into some other chores?
Venti can be found attending to a room here and there with an old-looking wooden lyre in hand and singing softly to the summer air. Or enjoying a serenade in one of the main rooms where people walking by can enjoy. Be proud of him since he’s working to help instead of working for a glass of wine to drink. But truly, Venti does have a heart for helping others when he feels he should.
And it is more than a good opportunity to practice some of the newer songs he’s been learning in this world! Like this brilliant tune...]
Your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it...
[B: tdm: margaritaville pair challenge]
[The carnival that rolls through town is right up Venti’s alley. With festivities come games and with games comes competition and with competition usually comes a sort of prize. And when Venti eyes the humongous glasses of slushy margarita he seems to sparkle with mischievous delight. Drink a giant slushy of alcohol in order to win a recipe spell that helps you avoid hangovers? ... Sign him up.
But he needs to do this with a partner! Hope someone’s ready to get their drink on because Venti is very suddenly coming up to you with a smile on his lips and a twinkle in his eye. If you look like you can hold your liquor, even better!]
Hello there, friend! Care to try out a rather refreshing little bit of competition? Ehe!
[C: camelot, relaxing with the birds]
[On this breezy summer day in Camelot Venti can also be found lounging under an old oak tree basking in the warmth of the summer sun and gentle breeze. Yet it might be peculiar to see Venti sitting there with a rather large and dangerous-looking brown and black falcon on his arm. The proud bird is sitting there preening a feather or two while Venti hum gently at it.
Which might be odd to those who know him. For Venti doesn’t have a falcon for a familiar. Who does the bird belong to? Did he steal it?
Nonetheless, the bird seems quite fond of the little bard. When Venti reaches up to pet the creature it coos and nuzzles his hand. It might not give the same treatment to others...]
[D: exploring celliwig]
[The best part of exploring a new city is certainly the draws to the unique shopping that it has. Celliwig has proved to be a bright delight when it comes to new and unique forms of foods, music, and charms to buy. Magic, clothing and trinkets, and all the rest. Venti has found himself wandering about the shops and stands with a curious little glint in his eye.
He comes across a few things that take his interest. Especially a stand that is selling what appears to be different summertime potions. He wants one, as the shop owner notes that they can give some amusing special effects. Fae magic? Or curses?
Without much money in his pocket, though... He might have to resist the urge to do a little sleight of hand. Or charming someone into buying a few things for him.]
Yahoo! Would you like to try something special and new? I heard wonderful things about these.
[Beware, these fae-made potions or drinks might make you hiccup songs or sneeze flower petals!]
[E: wildcard]
[got something else? feel free to put it down here! or you can find me at
michrure for some plotting!]

A
After his and Venti's misadventure with those enchanted bracelets the other month he feels personally targeted when the little bard enters his sectioned-off area playing some mushy romance song. This time there's no selenite making him want to please Venti, so he immediately fires off some judgement.]
Busking for a captive audience, huh? Aren't you a shrewd one?
[If only he knew that he's being rickrolled... but in fairness, Venti most likely also doesn't know that he's doing it.]
no subject
But here he is! Surprised to see his favourite drunken samurai. He immediately giggles, stopping at the end of his song to stand and peek in at the man.]
Oh hello, Hijikata! Fancy seeing you here. I hope it's not with another hangover after a night of drinks, is it?
[What's that about being shrewd?!]
Are you alright?
no subject
[This is bullshit. Back home he gets just as hopelessly smashed as he did with Venti.]
It's the damn fever that's making the rounds. You should be careful to not catch it too. This hospital's got to be a hotbed.
no subject
[It was a good time!!
But fever or not he comes into the room anyway, lyre in hand.]
I'm not really one to get sick very often. But it looks like it's put you in quite a state. You'll have to stay here until the fever breaks?
no subject
[He cracks a little grin.]
But yeah, I guess I'm stuck here for now, so I'm trying to at least do some research. I'm not sure if you also got whisked away to Celliwig last month, but after the massive ghost attack that happened there I want to figure out how to stop them from passing through people or possessing them.
[He really resents having been nearly useless in that battle. What use is being able to communicate with ghosts when they don't want to communicate?]
no subject
[But Venti hums, taking a seat near the bed with a small curious frown.]
You're really thinking to work and research while you're suffering from a fever? Don't tell me you're the workaholic type.
[He plucks a few notes on his lyre.]
Ghost are dangerous but overworking is just as fatal. You should be resting.
no subject
I slept enough for now, so I may as well do something useful rather than just lie around twiddling my thumbs.
[A small cold shiver runs over his spine, as if to remind him that he does need the rest... Venti making himself comfortable by his bedside gives him cause for concern, much as he appreciates his company.]
You shouldn't come too close, or you'll get sick too. You may be resilient back home, but the illnesses here are nasty.
no subject
I think I'm alright, as I don't work harder while trying to rest.
[He gives Hijikata a quick wink.]
Yet, if you're insistent of that! Is there something I can do to help? Perhaps you'll like a song or two?
[Because he's not quite sure he'll be into doing any actual hard labour. But still- he wants to help!]
no subject
Still, he doesn't want to dismiss the offer of a song. Despite the questionable circumstances of the trial he felt light-hearted and happy during their spring night at the pub with its song, dance and laughter, so maybe another one of Venti's songs will at least ease his vexation over being stuck in recovery for now.]
Hm, alright. It can't hurt. Give me a good one.
no subject
[While his music isn't as holy and healing as it used to be there is still something sweet and airy about his tunes. Venti starts a melody that is soft and relaxing.
And the song that he sings is something off the top of his head. Lyrics singing of strength in protecting others, no matter how weak one gets. With gentle tides of who protects the ones who protect? But their steadiness being what a world needs.]
The sword of light is drawn
from its sheltered container,
and zipped from side to side.
A glimmer of blue light
resonates from its blade.
no subject
Thank you.
[Back home the Shinsengumi gets a lot of grief from the general public, so it's twice as strange (yet nice) to be the recipient of such flattering lyrics and such a lovely melody. He opens the drawer of his bedside table and takes out some candy that came with his hospital meals. He doesn't have a sweet tooth, so he stowed it away.]
Here's your payment.
[Okay, now he's just being a bit of a troll. But for all he knows Venti may actually enjoy the treat!]
no subject
But the offered candy has him raising his eyebrow. He giggles and tilts his head.]
Just a candy? I'm not a child, Hijikata!
[He'd much rather have a sweet apple or another round of drinks for his pay. But he takes the candy anyway in his fingers.]
no subject
[At this rate they may end up developing a bad habit of getting smashed together, but hell if it isn't fun. It certainly distracts Hijikata from his worries about the people frozen in time back on Earth and Prismatica... but then he isn't overly fearful even when sober. He puts huge stock in Avalon's off-worlder population, after all.]
You know, I just saw someone's post on AOL about how he infused his songs with healing magic. Are you going to look into that too? What magic have you got, actually?
[All he knows (or all he remembers) is that it's not elemental magic.]
no subject
[He's more than delighted to have Hijikata as someone to drink with. He likes the company very much, truth be told!
Venti settles back, fingers still lazily strumming over lyre strings.]
Ehe, unfortunately, I have nothing like healing magic! But I do have kinetic magic and cognitive magic. The latter, I'm sure I could infuse my music into it. Perhaps broadcasting a song to someone from far away? Or in a dream?
no subject
[Hijikata's experience with kinetic magic mostly consists of seeing people move things around without touching them and zooming around at faster-than-normal speeds, and he doesn't actually recall meeting anyone with cognitive magic. One thing immediately comes to mind for Venti, though...]
Can't kinetic magic users learn to levitate? Maybe that way you can get closer to the wind again.
no subject
[His finger taps his chin.]
That last time I used it as such I almost crashed into the lake. That is not as gracious as a real bird...Yet.
[He giggles. It's hard to adjust from using anemo for over two thousand years to something entirely different. Venti has picked up his magic with a flourish of genius and without much struggle but he is adjusting this one thing.]
no subject
[He focuses on the element he wants to call forth, closing his eyes for a moment and remembering the instructions he got from Lavellan, and when he opens them again he summons a breeze that twirls around Venti, strong enough to briefly make his braids lift up.]
I'll practice every day until I can make a strong enough wind to make you fly.
no subject
The difference in the magic is clear. While Venti can push and pull and levitate with kinetic magic it is never going to be the same as being able to manipulate the wind as an elemental magic-user can. The simple appearance of wind and Hijikata's gentle use of it makes it clear.
It makes Venti's heart ache slightly. The effort is appreciated but he has to wonder why again.]
... Thank you, Hijikata. Though I've long appreciated the wind in all my days, there is something different about seeing it again with you. I look forward to the day you master it.
no subject
[Hijikata is always grateful for magic practice partners, and even if he could substitute an object for Venti, it's a lot more gratifying to imagine him laughing and smiling as he gets lifted up by the magical breeze. But as he conjures up that scene in his mind he can feel a wave of dizziness wash over him... maybe he shouldn't overdo it while sick. He lies back with a small sigh. God, this fever is so aggravating!]
I'll try to take your advice and rest up so I'll be back to my usual form soon. You should take a break too. At least see if the nurses his can give you an immune system booster spell or something if you're determined to keep playing for the patients!
no subject
[Don't mind as Venti stands up and picks up the washcloth at the bedside. He wets it at the basin with cool water before squeezing it out appropriately. Then he comes back to Hijikata and gets into his personal space without a single worry to sit on the edge of the bed and put that cool cloth on his forehead.]
Here, that should help with the heat, just a bit.
no subject
You don't listen to anyone, do you?
[The reproach comes in a warm tone of voice, because who could be vexed with such a kindly carer? Still, he's determined to shoo Venti away from him and his contagiousness. He lifts his hand - to flick his forehead, to squish his cheek? - but thinks better of it and simply puts it on his shoulder for a moment.]
If you don't leave I'm going to tell the other people from Mondstadt that you're being reckless and irresponsible.
no subject
I'm sure they would either agree with you or add their own poetic nuance to that.
[Implying that they already think that of Venti or have even more choice words about Venti's carelessness.
Still, Venti's fingers brush Hijikata's forehead to make sure the cloth is in place before withdrawing his hand. His forehead is quite hot.]
no subject
I hope none of your friends from home caught the fever, but if they did you better sing them songs as nice as the one you sang for me.
no subject
[He smiles, letting himself withdraw from the moment. Venti is still fairly sure he'll never get sick. Even if anyone else from Mondstadt might be. But maybe he's already wished himself to the wrong side of that hopefulness already? Who knows!]
Alright, alright. I'll leave you to your rest.
no subject
If Venti ends up sick as a result he will come to nag him (and make sure he takes his medicine).]
