⚠️ WARNINGS: It's Colette's Birthday. No getting out of hand, but warnings will be added if they must.

Sunny, clear, bright with calm, but visible waves, all those perfect conditions for a day at the beach.

... Really, he'd been checking to make sure. Meanwhile, he had to trust nothing would happen since Camelot was still right there. Just one day, one day of things staying normal with no interruptions was all he was asking.

Anyway, rental grill and table? Check.

Beach umbrellas? Check.

Extra towels? Check.

Beach balls, floating rings, basically things that said 'beach fun'? Check, check, aannd check!

While Zidane had the bowls, water, and toys for the dogs, Eustace was supplying what they ate (which was for the best), and he's making sure to keep them away from the disposable plates and cold foods so no mistakes were made. If anyone wanted alcohol? Well, that wasn't available - Zidane's only packed water, juice, and some assorted carbonated beverages for those that wanted it. BYOB if one really needs it - heck, he has some pizza on order later for people who'd rather that than the fruits, vegetables, or meat he's cooking up.

All-in-all, should be enough for people to chill out, have fun, and save room for the ice cream cake once it was time to sing 'Happy Birthday'!

[Colette is mingling and trying to greet everyone as they arrive. Though yes. The dogs are something of a distraction for her as well. Understandably, as this is probably the big thing most are aware of about her in her love for dogs. She smiles, giggling a little at the sight of Emil with the dogs. She approaches, lowering the hand at her mouth to hold her hands behind her.]

Emil! You made it! You like the dogs too?

[ Emil looks up, grinning. ]

Yeah, they're really friendly.

[ After patting a few more heads, he stands up to face her.

Birthdays aren't normal to him either, really. Things like time and date can’t be defined for his birth, and even if they were, he’d surely have stopped counting by now. Though, he does like them as a part of human life. It's great that people have days to be appreciated and celebrated for being born! And for Colette especially, he knows this is special. He holds out the gift to her. ]

They are! I hope that helps them all get a wonderful home in them getting adopted from the shelter!

[They all deserve the best home and owners! Colette might be biased there but really. They were good dogs and they deserved somewhere safe and warm and with owners that looked after them well.

Still, she might be oblivious on his history with birthdays not necessarily meaning so much to him the same as with Kratos after having lived for so long. But that doesn't mean she doesn't appreciate the gift all the same as she blinks, before smiling and taking the offered present.]

[ Emil watches eagerly; this is exciting! The first time he's given someone a birthday gift. He's sure she'll love it, but... there's still that tingling, nervous anticipation.

The gift is simply wrapped in plain brown paper over a plain rectangular box. But opening it reveals a baking set! There are cookie cutters of various sizes in the shape of paw prints, and some decorating accessories with colorful handles. Despite the cute design, it's definitely a professional set by the quality of materials; Emil takes baking very seriously! ]

[She gives a nod, glancing from him to the present itself as she reaches to focus on opening it. Undoing the wrapping. Smiling as she sees the baking set and glancing up to him again. At least. She assumes it was Emil but maybe Ratatosk helped choose. She's not sure.]

Ah, it's so cute! Thank you, Emil! Or, um. Ratatosk too?

[ He watches her unwrap it, possibly just as excited even though he knows what's in it. When she looks up, he echoes her smile. Yes, he did pick a good gift! ]

It's from both of us. [Although thinking back] Well, I picked out the design. I thought it was cute and would work well in the cafe you talked about starting.

It's perfect! The designs are really cute! Thanks to both of you, then. Ratatosk too.

[Look she didn't want to leave the other out? Even if she is still adjusting to how to handle that exactly. But it's easy enough to tell which it is in the moment, from the voice and eyes. She grins, admiring the gift and looks forward to using them in practicing more recipes.]

You can come be the taste tester then? When I use them for the first time?

[ Not one for birthdays or beaches, Ratatosk is content to stay quiet. All the same, the acknowledgement is nice. He has no objection to Emil eagerly agreeing to taste test, either. Colette's cooking is quite tolerable compared to Marta's or Raine's. ]

[ Emil nods. He's eaten enough of her cooking to have an idea what to expect... but since this Colette is younger, maybe it'll be a little different? No one commented about her skills changing much, but two years can make a big difference when experimenting with ingredients and preparation. ]

I'm glad I'll be able to taste your cooking from an oven this time... oh, but you were good at campfire cooking, too.

I'll have to practice still, I think. But I think I should do okay as long as I follow the recipes.

[Maybe it wouldn't be too bad. She just hopes she doesn't burn and ruin anything. Even the practice attempts, otherwise that just seems like a waste. Still, she might be younger and a little less experienced but in general her tastes and dishes should probably be much the same as he is used to, if perhaps a little less refined in her experimenting a little given her particular palette.]

[ Emil nods. He's very grateful that, unlike some of their friends, Colette will actually follow a recipe to the letter. ]

Yeah, that's a good way to start. Once you have the basic recipes down, you can start experimenting with adding your own unique flavors to them. It's fun, and I'm sure a lot of people would offer to help you taste test.

[ He gestures to the others on the beach. ]

A lot? You think so? I mean. Initially it'd just be practice. I'd want to do my best and make sure I have it down first....

[But she can't help still having the smile at her lips in thinking of it. Of her friends all enjoying her food. Being able to make something delicious for them all. Colette's just initially less confident until she figures getting better at the recipes she thinks could be nice for the cafe idea.]
