[OPEN] the most stupidly rich bastard party ever

🧙 WHO: Hikaru ([personal profile] irritated), Kaoru ([personal profile] individuates), and everybody that comes to this party.
⚔️️ WHAT: The Hitachiin birthday extravaganza where literally everybody was invited.
🕒 WHEN: 6/09 in the evening.
🗺️ WHERE: Some place big enough for this.
⚠️ WARNINGS: Should be none. Please tag if a thread goes towards something that needs to be labeled and warned for!

When you’re from an influential family, known for their artistry, that type of pressure doesn’t go away once you’re in another world. Hikaru and Kaoru had no family to impress but they still held themselves to high standards and this party shows that.

As soon as you step inside, you’re welcomed by an over the top display. Cirque du Soleil-type performers doing acrobatics across the ceiling, food trays all over, and staff bowing to you, and thanking you for showing up. There are mannequins of different pieces of fashion that Hikaru and Kaoru have come up with, all haute couture nonsense, with their own flower arrangements scattered around, and even art pieces up on the walls (that yes, they also did). In the back of the building, behind doors, there is a dance floor that plays various genres all night. From faster songs to slow, there’s going to be something for everybody.

The entire point of this party is to find people to work with and for people to be impressed by them because when you’re rich bastards a birthday party is really just an excuse to a) show off and b) find potential business opportunities.

PARTY FAVORS

What is a party without party favors? Of course Hikaru and Kaoru want to thank everybody for showing up but even this is over the top. Those acrobatic performers? They come down on silken ropes to hand you the bag with a “Thank you for coming!” before going back up. Maybe you were doing absolutely nothing, just looking at your device before one came down. Or maybe you were in the middle of something. They’re pretty invasive.

What’s inside the bag? Gourmet chocolates and mariage sœur (get it) gourmet tea. Now feel like a rich bastard for a little while outside of the party as well!

CUISINE

Hikaru and Kaoru like Italian so of course their food is mostly Italian. There is somebody to serve you. For appetizers there are zucchini flowers stuffed with goat cheese, grilled octopus with eggplant caponata, charcuterie with different cheese and dried meats to nibble on and various pastas. Don’t worry, there’s some simple mixed in with the fancy. There’s something for everybody. Even for those with a sweet tooth. What is a birthday without cake? With various mini cakes and candies, go ahead and eat until you can’t anymore.

As for drinks, there's no alcohol because they're minors thanks. But there is a bar that offers every virgin cocktail you could imagine and different types of juices.

SOCIAL MEDIA BOOTH

There is a booth for you to be able to take pictures with the hashtag #HITACHIINBDAY as a means to show that you came to the party because that’s just free advertising thanks. What’s the appeal? You can take pictures in front of a green screen that shows your home world, anywhere you want it to be if you just think hard enough. While it’s only an image, this might be a good chance to show off your world to somebody that never got to see it. Somebody is there to explain it as “To show that we can be ourselves here even in another world!”

How did they manage this? Well, with the twins’ technomancy abilities (and a cognitive user they're paying hiding out behind the screen) and their software development training from their dad, nothing is too impossible. It’s all magic, baby.

IT'S FINE ART

Hikaru and Kaoru have their art pieces up. Some of it is just figure drawings, sketches for their future designs, and some of it is stupidly abstract. In front of each art piece is a code to scan where you can say what you think the abstract pieces are all about. Stuff like this and this. But some of them are legitimately just splotches of color. Most of these pieces? Hikaru and Kaoru didn’t put a meaning to. They just made them to see what other people would say because this is all about seeing who’s creative and has some interesting ideas.

Or who really doesn’t understand art. Like at all.

Hikaru and Kaoru will be reading each one you input. Maybe you’re just going to be trolls and say something rude. That’s valid.

MAGIC CARPET RIDES

As winners of the magic carpet, they’re letting people have a fifteen minute ride anywhere you want to go in Avalon. But only fifteen minutes because it will automatically go back to the party (so no stealing!). However, it will go where you want as high as you want. Two people at a time! Maybe you want to do a Whole New World with somebody? Consider it a romantic little moment if you so choose.

Or maybe somebody is really scared of heights and you’re trolling. Also very valid.

★★★

ooc; seriously, do whatever you want. feel free to play with these prompts as much as you want. the world is your oyster, this log is your oyster. if you have any questions, PM this account! also very sorry about the delay.

For Hikaru:
-Secret sunrise breakfast
-Birthday cuddles on the roof
-1 Lord of Scilly melon '_'

For Kaoru:
-A copy of Junji Ito's No Longer Human, based on Osamu Dazai's book of the same name. It came out in 2019 so he doesn't think he'd have read this version yet, even if he read the original!! There is a note that says it's super creepy, so definitely don't read before bedtime!!
-Zebra Popcorn. It may be commoner food but it's one of the best commoner sweets.
-(He assumes Kaoru will also get some of the melon he gave to Hikaru since they share.)

With their gifts comes only one card. But it's an unexpectedly artful one, considering who it's coming from. And he thought of it all by himself and everything, his own idea and his own symbolism, didn't even consult Iroh on it...! It's freehanded with broad brushstrokes on a plain white background, relying on his calligraphy skills to capture a rather impressionistic painting of two pale pink cherry blossoms with red for the detailing in their centers, sprouting on a crooked black branch, where none of the other buds on the branch have blossomed yet. It's captioned with loose calligraphy in his world's written language. Overall, not so unlike something like this, but simpler, more striking and elegant in its starkness. Not like Zuko to spend more than a few minutes on that, though; his artfulness is almost accidental. He didn't write them a note with the card or anything, though, just the rarity of his art is sentimental enough, he figures... That mushy stuff is not their style as much as it isn't his style. Maybe even less so.

But he got them real gifts, too. All are presented unceremoniously in a plain brown paper shopping bag.

He got them a glass bottle of pure maple syrup to share, the fanciest (AKA most expensive, since he knows very little about maple syrup and did not share their passion for it in Prismatica) that he could find. He knew that'd be a sure win because it's something he'd seen them buy for themselves before. He also got them each intricate leatherbound sketchbooks, with hand-sewn pages of parchment, knowing they liked to draw and remembering Hikaru chasing down loose pages of sketches he'd dropped in the rush when their house was on fire in Lunatia; so sketchbooks seemed useful, like they'd be appreciated (also knowing they like to complain and judge). But he made sure to wrap them individually in plain brown paper and brown string he found, with their names written on them to denote which is for Kaoru and which is for Hikaru... They may well end up switching and he knows that, but he went with his gut on presenting whose is meant to be whose. He always wants to reaffirm they're different people, after hearing what Hikaru's childhood memories were like.

He did get Hikaru alone something else, though, on that note, presented in a small plain envelope he handed to Hikaru personally when he first saw him, but told him explicitly to open it later. He is schmaltzier than they are... and doesn't want to confront that; he's not so unabashed in his affection. But he knows he's seen Hikaru wear necklaces before, lots of accessories and things in their weird alien fashion, and when he almost mistook this one on a long golden chain in the Traders' shop for an actual bubble, something clicked upstairs and he couldn't resist the idea. He, uh, may not have acquired this one legally, but that doesn't matter. It's the thought that counts. And indeed thoughtful, on the inside flap of the envelope he wrote: "Thank you for being my friend." Way to make his special birthday gift about yourself, Zuko, jeez...

Oh. And as a joke, he's also given them each a can of... Oklahoma Tea. He found it at the cornerstore by chance when grocery "shopping" the night before their party, and thought the packaging on the green tea looked kind of like Tamaki's Arizona shit. One of the flavors is even called "Macho Mango," which is... mildly disconcerting. Happy Birthday, twins.
