A - Teru Teru Bozu

[It's been a long time since Tsuna has had to make a Teru Teru Bozu but he does so fondly. He remembers making them with his mom and hanging them in the kitchen window on rainy days. But that was a long time ago now (though maybe he'll have to bring back the practice for Lambo and I-Pin one day. Futa might like it to).

With the little doll done, and Tsuna feeling fairly confident in the design, he goes to hang it up. Though, if he's read the quest right, just hanging it in the window isn't quite going to do it. Steeling himself, Tsuna opens the window and leans out to hang the little doll on one of the shutters. There's a brief moment of triumph as it seems to hang there successfully, but it's short-lived triumph as the rainwater overflows the eavesdrop, splashing Tsuna with water and knocking him off balance in his surprise.

He pitches forward, waving his arms rapidly and trying to find purchase so that he doesn't fall out of the window.]

HELP!!!!


B - Magic School

[If there's one thing that can be said for Tsuna, it's that he's learned some sort of diligence over the past while. Or at least, the lingering fear of Reborn spurs him to action. And while he's enjoyed this time of doing quests and basically meandering through life, he does need a bit more routine.

And while it feels weird, starting class in what would more or less be the last third of the term, better late than never, he supposes. Granted, he's not sure different a magic school is going to be compared to Namimori Middle. He's probably not going to have to worry about a disciplinary committee, right? And hopefully not mean teachers either.

He's at least made it to the campus but now he's stuck. He really should have found a map and a brief search on his phone hasn't helped.]

Um, excuse me, but do you know the way to the main office?

[Gokudera is aware of the quest posted, but he's never constructed a Teru Teru Bonzu before. He watches his boss with some quiet affection, curious and not wanting to interrupt. When his boss moves to hang the doll on the shutter, he moves closer in order to get a better look.

And there goes the Tenth out the window-

Wait NO!!! Not out the window!

Tsuna will feel arms around his middle and Gokudera giving him a firm tug back, hard enough to send them both tumbling indoors.]

[It takes a few moments for the past few events to catch up with Tsuna. He remembers pitching forward as he was hanging the Teru Teru Bozu, then a shout, being grabbed, falling back and now, now he's just staring at the ceiling catching his breath.]

Thanks, Gokudera-kun.

[This is. Embarrassing.]

[Gokudera sits up carefully, arms no longer wrapped about his boss. He's still very much under and behind him, though, patting at his shoulders and making sure he's not injured.]

Are you alright, Tenth? What were you doing?! That was dangerous...

[Tsuna pulls himself up into a sitting position and manages to look a little sheepish.]

I was trying to hang the teru teru bozu in the window, and I guess I slipped a bit...

[The Storm Guardian seems at peace with his boss being so close. He'd snuggle him if that weren't super weird to do right now. Damn you Tanagura for making him more inclined towards physical affection!]

Teru teru bozu? That little paper person? Is it still there?

[He has no idea what a teru teru bozu is. He's... maybe heard of them, but has never made one.]

[Tsuna looks up, seeing the little doll hanging precariously on the still open window.]

Looks like it, but we should close the window!

[And he scrambles to go do that before it gets too wet over there.]

Oh! Okay!

[And he's mistakenly taking the little doll down, not having any idea why it's out and going to get wet. Gokudera helps to close the window, but is staring down at the odd little figure in his hand.]

Oh, wait, it's supposed to go in the window.

[At least the window's closed now and Tsuna is just dripping on the floor.]

It's to make the bad weather go away.

It is? Oh... I've never seen one. Sorry, Tenth.

[He just readjusts it back in place and is also a little wet, but not nearly as much as his boss. Gokudera frowns at his boss's current drippy state, then moves to get a towel before returning and offering it.]

Is it a Japanese custom?

[The boy's learned a lot, and he's super interested in Japanese culture, obviously, very excited, but this is something going completely over his head. Cute! What's it do? Is it something children do? Are the dolls always so simple looking? He is fascinated.]

(Harry has put his moving plan on hold when he notices Tsuna waving his arms frantically on the window’s edge while he is putting some of his stuff into the boxes. He drops his current task, picks up Rose from the bed and has her slip into his jacket pocket, and alerts Hedwig that Tsuna needs help. The snowy owl hoots as she flies out from her cage which thankfully has its door open.

The three of them head out to Tsuna’s room and the young man gasps in shock to see Tsuna’s predicament. He soon carefully levitates him away from the window and gets him inside on the floor.)

Hey, are you okay right now, Tsuna?

[Tsuna tenses as the magic comes over him and kind of causes him to flail more, especially as he sees the snowy owl, because why would there be an owl indoors when did that happen?

But once he's settled on the floor, he manages to regain some of his composure.]

Y-yeah, I'm okay. Thanks, Harry-san.

I guess I lost my balance.

Well, that is good to know; for a moment, you did got me really worried.

(Rose then hops out of Harry’s jacket pocket to scurry towards the materials for the Teru Teru Bozu dolls and begins to sniff at them out of curiosity. Meanwhile, Hedwig has found a resting place on a nearby chair and hoots with concern before she proceeds to preening her feathers.)

So what you were doing before you found yourself on the window’s edge?

[Tsuna gives a side eye to the snowy owl having taken roost on one of the chairs. The only real experience he has with owls is the box weapon of Mukuro Rokudo, and his Mist Guardian is exactly the kind of person who wouldn't say anything if he showed up in this world.]

Oh, uh, I was trying to hang the teru teru bozu...

[And on that note, he's just going to scramble to close the window and make sure it hasn't dropped.]

So you were trying to hang up some dolls by the window’s edge?

(To be quite honest, Harry has never heard of people tying up dolls on windows before he came to Tsuna’s rescue. Rose’s sniffing does get her to sneeze a bit after she has her nose getting too close to the straw for the dolls which did scared Harry for a moment when he heard the sneezing.

Thankfully there are no allergies in her, though Harry did picked up her with his hands so she wouldn’t run off without him or Hedwig noticing.)

Um, I never heard of the Teru Teru Bozu before, what are they like?

[Before he responds to Harry, Tsuna finishes closing the window and making sure the little doll is attached before clapping his hands together and offering a small chant]

Fair-weather priest, please make it a nice day tomorrow.

[That done, he turns back to Harry and indicates the doll. It's a small, white doll not unlike a Halloween ghost decoration. Tsuna's looks a little uneven and the face is a little smudged.]

Well, they're like that. We used to make them back home, and they're supposed to bring nice weather.

Oh that’s what they are: dolls that could bring in good weather. I never made the dolls like them nor I do heard of people making them in my world.

(Rose is still getting over her straw sniffing sneeze while Hedwig hoots to no one softly after she is done with her preening session. The little Pygmy Puff still likes to get a closer look on the Teru Teru Bozu materials, even though Harry isn’t letting her to go out of his watch just yet.)

So could anyone try to make them with any materials?

Hiee...it was pretty common in Nanimori. I remember making them with my mom or in school for good weather for school trips and festivals and stuff.

Mostly when I was younger though. I don't think they can actually control the weather.

[It was more superstition than anything else, but also a fun tradition. And a little charm was never a bad thing. Tsuna would know. He always keeps Kyoko's charm close.]

I mean, yeah, probably. Those are just the ones I remember using.

[Mostly cloth and string and some stuffing.]

[Magic school just seems like a good idea for any newcomer here. Even if he's technically late to enroll, some extra training and lessons on how to use his magic is always going to be a benefit in his opinion.]

[He's busy looking over the campus map himself, but he looks up when he is spoken to.]

The main office? I believe I saw it on my way here... I could take you there if you'd like.

[Tsuna might blink twice at the fact that he appears to be talking to a bird, but as always, he has to remind himself that weird things exist in this world and his tutor is a literal two year old hitman. It's impolite to stare.]

If you don't mind? I'm really lost.

[There's a sense of shame and defeat in his voice. He really should be better at these things by now.]

[He's used to the odd looks, but he is appreciative of the fact that Tsuna is polite about it! He nods and turns.]

Certainly. Follow me.

[And he'll start heading in one direction.]

At least, I believe it is this way. If I am remembering correctly.

[Admittedly, Tokoyami might be at the top of the list of Weird Things Tsuna Has Seen, but he kind of lets weirdness wash over him now.]

I find that sometimes, unknown territories can be difficult to navigate at first. But with enough training, even the most intimidating of fortresses can be navigated and conquered.

[It honestly reminds him of his first time going to UA, and how much was in the school. It took some time for him to get used to UA, and this school would probably be similar.]

Did you also sign up late?

[How does Tsuna keep meeting the weird people?]

Yeah, I did. I've been here for a while, but it's gotten to the point where I need more help with my magic.

It'll be weird coming in partway through term but better late then never.

I see. Well, it is as you say. It's better to start late than to not start at all.

And you wouldn't be alone, at least. I too am starting late.

It is a bit of a relief. I have another friend who's looking to start soon to, so we might have to band together.

[He'd like that. One of his fears of going to school would be being along again. He wouldn't have Gokudera and Yamamoto to rely on.]
