Log: Holy Grail War

⚔️️ WHAT: Caster's gone on a grief-induced rampage after learning of the death of her lover back home

So here it was...the Witch of Betrayal finally showing her 'true colours' to Avalon. After that network post, Caster readied herself for whatever would come of it- the forest fire providing an ominous backdrop.

Since she'd come to Avalon, so many had told her she was a good person- and now, she was publicly burning it all to the ground.

I don't want Caster to get killed, but I'm all for her potentially getting maimed/scarred provided we plot first. If you don't think it's IC for your character to not just murder her, send me a message so we can plot how she can remove herself from the situation/have someone else intervene before it gets that far!

She'll be using her familiar symbiosis to fight and leaning toward making the actual description of that transformation slightly body-horror-y, but if you're not comfortable with that then just give me the heads up and I'll have her already turned when the thread starts.

Darin will have his own TL for rescuing him/fighting his own familiar fusion, which I'll link here when it's up- feel free to tag one or both as you see fit!]

"No one can steal those things from you, Medea."

He sighs. She might not be in the best position to take that kind of thing in right now, so he lets it go in favour of what she says next. A name? Thanatos frowns slightly, mulling over the unfamiliar-sounding name.

Not one that he recognises.

"Someone you cared for," he says thoughtfully. "But that name, it isn't Greek."

An icy chill started to creep its way around her heart- his voice was soft, yes, but it felt as if it were barbed with sharp spines.

"No, he isn't. He's Japanese, but-" Medea's voice started to tremble. "My partner- my fiancé-"

Her precious Master.

"I know what you're asking me."

And what he knows he has to tell her isn't something that he relishes. While Thanatos often goes out of his way to avoid conflict, he also doesn't lie.

"You should know that if he isn't Greek, he's unlikely to ever cross my path... or the path of any Cthonic deity."

The hard truth, but it is the truth.

"No...No, no, there must be something- Thanatos!"

The implication hit hard- along with the agonising unknown. If he didn't find himself in their Underworld then...where...no. She that thought burned too much to hold onto.

"He's my fiancé! That must mean something!"

"To the Styx, no, it would mean nothing."

Nor to him, though he leaves that particular barb out. Even if he made an exception, the Styx would never accept one who was supposed to be elsewhere. Thanatos closes his eyes for a moment and lets out a sigh. He isn't... accustomed to this.

"This is upsetting you. We can speak about it later, when you have more strength."

"Where is he...please- where-"

Thanatos had to know, didn't he? But her vision was already starting to blur- tears, exhaustion, the smoke.

...And it was then that small, silent sobs started to shake her body, as the strength to argue with him finally started to ebb away.

Does Thanatos, Death Incarnate, know what to do about a crying woman? Absolutely not, but he will privately acknowledge that things could be worse and at least she's not struggling. He lets out a quiet sigh, adjusts his hold on her and lifts her up off the ground once again, cradling her carefully against his chest.

"I'm taking you home," he says softly. "And I'll find a healer to come and help you."

For the rest of it... they can talk about it another time, if she ever finds she wants to talk about it.
