Log: Holy Grail War

⚔️️ WHAT: Caster's gone on a grief-induced rampage after learning of the death of her lover back home
🕒 WHEN: June 6th, late night

So here it was...the Witch of Betrayal finally showing her 'true colours' to Avalon. After that network post, Caster readied herself for whatever would come of it- the forest fire providing an ominous backdrop.

Since she'd come to Avalon, so many had told her she was a good person- and now, she was publicly burning it all to the ground.

I don't want Caster to get killed, but I'm all for her potentially getting maimed/scarred provided we plot first. If you don't think it's IC for your character to not just murder her, send me a message so we can plot how she can remove herself from the situation/have someone else intervene before it gets that far!

She'll be using her familiar symbiosis to fight and leaning toward making the actual description of that transformation slightly body-horror-y, but if you're not comfortable with that then just give me the heads up and I'll have her already turned when the thread starts.

Darin will have his own TL for rescuing him/fighting his own familiar fusion, which I'll link here when it's up- feel free to tag one or both as you see fit!]

"Ah...so my interference finally ran his course. That is unfortunate."

Her smirk was cruel- bitter and broken, but cruel- as she assessed the situation.

If Darin's fusion had already worn out, she wouldn't have a lot of time left in her own. That was even before she realised that Allura didn't seem wounded, and that her Siphon magic was the perfect counter to Caster's darkness.

She immediately pulled back, letting loose more darkness- this time to try and cloak herself in shadow. If she could get back into the woodland and conceal her position, that was the best way to stay safe. Maintaining distance was of upmost importance.

If only she could access her Rain of Light!

"More of this? You won't overpower me this way!"

But actually, that's something of a boast. Doubling down on the cursed darkness is one of Caster's better options here, and Allura knows it. Siphoning isn't a quick counter, and there's a limit on how much she can absorb before it starts to burn inside of her. Add to that the pain on the outside...

Well, suffice it to say that if Caster's strategy was to run, then she's given Allura an effective roadblock to try and power through.

There was, however, another thing she could try. She holds her hands forward, to where she last caught sight of Caster...

"Get out here and fight me!"

And from her palms, a burst of energy erupts forth, fueled by the very same energy she's been siphoning. Whether or not it hits is one thing — but even if not, it might part the clouds of darkness better than her whip will.

She didn't reply just yet- knowing that would give away her position- but that bright burst of energy shot right past her. It only missed by inches but it was enough to expose her position all the same, and singe the bones of her wings.

But she had stolen something else from Archer when she'd taken him down in the fight earlier-

So Caster started to weave a sigil in the air above her and called a prayer to the wind: "O Goddess Hecate- grant me your blessing...and let me curse them all!"

And with that, she unleashed a powerful beam of her own Siphon magic from the sigil, sending it Allura's way.

"She's another—?!"

Without the kind of cover that Caster has, the beam is dead on target towards Allura. But the power is to Allura's advantage, because she can the energy through the veils of darkness like a lighthouse in the fog. She dodges in time, but narrowly, so much that she can feel the energy radiating off the attack.

There's a loud crack as the beam hits a tree, one of the same ones from the woodlands, grown from one of its errant seeds scattered beyond its boundary.

Allura fires off another beam of energy, this time aiming at the source of Caster's attack. But turning this into a shootout seems disadvantageous when she's the one without defenses — and Caster doesn't seem foolish enough to stay where she was standing a moment before.

The crack of splintering wood is still echoing in her mind...

Allura siphons a bit more of the encroaching dark magic, both to clear the area around her and to replenish the energy lost from her own attack. And, using it to bolster her strength to superhuman levels, she makes a run towards another nearby tree — and straight up its trunk — and parkours off its branch to jump to the other side of the cloud of darkness.

And she tumbles as she lands, ready to spring back up to strike. If she can cut off Caster's escape route, then the flow of the battle might change.
